It had been a couple weeks since I got that job as a part time lumberjack. After winter, he kept me on but on fewer hours which I'm fine with. I had also started my plan of getting rid of this subsection of the White Fang, by secretly bribing/threatening almost all of the members in this unit.

There's only ten of us...

Temporarily of course, but we need to wait for more volunteers to the White Fang to be brought here. If there was ever a time to strike at Brine, then it would be now.

Wake up, shower/brush teeth, sit around for awhile, secretly work on my experimental sludge, and then later in the evening depending on the day of the week, I ether go train with Lawnsen or work with Frederick.

Soon I'm gonna have to work towards a new schedule to assimilate into, because I'm gonna be on the move after tonight.

I've been sitting on my glorious swivel chair for about four hours now. This is probably the last time I'll sit on this chair. In my drawer is a hatchet that I bought off of Frederick for a cheap sum of lien. I look at my mini fridge.

I look at the clock, "11:30" I say quietly to myself. Everyone should be asleep right now, maybe even Brine. Unfortunately I don't have a schedule on Brine's activity's, and that might be my biggest fault.

I look back at the fridge... yep that's a fridge. Rather small one would say.

I open the fridge. Inside was a couple of things, cookies, soda, and of course the chocolate milk.

I take the milk out. I can smell it from here. I decided to give it a small whiff just to see how bad it got, after all, this is the same milk that I've kept in here from a couple weeks ago. Even then it was already a week expired.

'Gross, really gross. If I had to make a comparison then I would say it's like someone took a bag of salt and vinegar chips and then ground up all the chips until it's a fine paste.'

I throw it away and look back at the fridge, specially what's inside it. The black sludge I've been testing on for weeks now disappointingly didn't change color despite how much blood testing I've been doing.

Of course this vial that's in my fridge currently is actually the second vial, as for the first, I believe I have contaminated it with too many blood samples.

Speaking of blood testing, meet Jerry, the iguana. I have been using his blood for the current vial and I believe this is the best thing I've done. Iguana and lizards have good regeneration so I thought to myself that this could be fun so I took him home with me.

I grab the little cage that I kept him in (not really little), and I grabbed the vial and walked out back through the back door.

I open the cage and face it out to the forest. "Goodbye Jerry it's been an honor"

Jerry scurried off without looking back at me.

'What did I expect'

I look down at the vial in my hand before taking a deep breath and releasing, then I down the whole vial at once.

'Gross, kinda tastes like vinegar. Hope that wasn't because of the chocolate milk'

I look up to the stars. It's a full moon, well to me that is. Everyone else sees a broken moon except me, all I see is a, well, moon.

"It's gonna be a wild night isn't it" says me to the moon. Sometimes I like to talk to it, it seems like my only friend sometimes.

I slowly walk towards the Captains cabin, with my hatchet in hand.

'Sorry Brine but Slumberland is a bit underpopulated so your needed for immediate transfer'

I walk up the stairs with a lump in my throat.

'Time to sleep forever, Brine'

I open the door, it's unlocked, Oh No.

"I knew it was you"

Before I could even move, I had been kicked from behind towards the inside of the cabin. The lights turn on to reveal a horribly sleep deprived Brine. 'Wow I was actually right, he really needs to sleep'

"No need to talk, Doctor Disappointment, I know your the one responsible. Ever since the day you came in, you had this look on your face that just rubbed me the wrong way, good to know my gut feeling was right"

'My face? It always looks like this'

"Im not gonna lie Saudner-" he reaches behind his back and pulls out a folded spear, before unfolding it and setting it ablaze with a burning contempt for my offing,-" I'm gonna cook you alive then throw you down the river, let the fishes eat you"

He charged forward and I definitely tried to dodge but unfortunately I didn't try hard enough, he launched me across the room breaking tables along the way.

He then threw his spear at me but by the luck of something lucky, I dodged the spear letting it pierce a wall quickly setting it on fire.

My hatchet is in the floor but he's closer to it, closer to me, really close to me, he's getting closer.

My reaction times were too slow as he gut punched me in a rising motion with enough force to launch me threw the roof.

But as he rose me up I took advantage and grappled his arm with my legs and nailing him across the cheek. He threw me off.

Before I could get up to uselessly attack him, a wood beam fell on my back. *CRACK* That's definitely gonna hurt in the morning, if I live that is.

"Your time is up Maxwell, say goodnight and goodbye to life" he stood there watching me as the cabin fell to flame.

My bones, fuck, my bones, they hurt ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow *CRUCK* ow ow o-huh?

My spine... did it just realigned. The sludge must be doing this. Wow mom was right, digesting random things you find in the woods is definitely the way to proceed in life.

I try to stand up, moving the beam to the side.

"What the hell, heh looks you really learned how to grow a spine huh Saudner"

Wow that sucked, that was really bad.

I charge at him only for him to duck and throw me behind him, but little did he know that I had planed for that all along.

I graciously fall to the floor and run to the fire axe, *glass breaks* I grab a shard of glass and throw it at Brine, then I grab the axe.

"Ow what the hell"

I grab more glass with my left hand and ran towards him. I throw glass in his face before rolling to the side.

"OW FUCK, YOU THREW GLASS IN MY EYES, ASSHOLE!"

I kick him forward so he would land on his knees.

"Hey Brine"

I raise the axe high and mighty

"Timber"

CHOP* *THUNK*

Heads shall fall.

Who knew such a beautiful lake would be sitting right behind this cabin.

I sure didn't, and god am I happy to have found it.

The cabin is burning ablaze thanks to his fire spear.

My hand glides over my side, huh, forgot I had this. I pull out a combat knife that Lawnsen lent me. I hold it up to the moon as I lay back.

-hat's Southlan-* the static is back and I can hear more music, albeit very staticky music.

I can't hear it. I get up only to fall down on my knees. I need to hear it.

What's the song, I need to know.

I look at the knife as the static filled my eyes.

I raise it to my human ears. Then I cut them off. Pain... there was none, only ease.

I raise the bloody knife to my wolf ears. Off they go and still no pain surprisingly.

OOOOOoooooooohhhhhhh Ooooohh ohh ohh ohh oh ooooooh*

I can a sweet melody.

Take me to sleep-*

"-lullaby of the leaves"

All I could feel at the moment was a sorta mental clarity. For once in my life I was able to sing along to the mystery music of the moon.

No one knows that he was there when it happened, and then left. Most people would think that he had left like everyone else, but some believe he was there to kill the Captain.

No one saw the two pairs of ears floating down the River stream.
