Part Six

Darkness.. That was all Demyx could see.. He glanced around him, trying to discern where he was. The last thing he remembered was standing in the grey lounging area of the castle that never was and he had just..

Demyx shivered as a feeling of unease washed over him at the realization of what he had done. Demyx tried to move but everything felt so stiff. It hurt to move at all. He felt weightless as if he were floating through a calm and open sea, yet his body felt cold, as if he was lying in a bath of icy water.

'So.. This is what it's like to no longer exist..?'

While Demyx found he couldn't speak, he was relieved to have it be only his thoughts and no one else's. He was completely alone.

'So this is it then.. I guess I deserve it considering everything that I've done..'

It was then that he became aware of a new sensation.. Sound.. He could hear SOUND! Demyx wasn't sure what it was at first but as he continued to concentrate, he could determine what the sound was. It was a soft buzzing which was steadily growing louder. Demyx was confused was confused at hearing the sound.

As the buzzing faded in and out, it was soon joined by a mesh of voice. Demyx tried to call out to the voices but found he still couldn't speak. Eventually, the voices grew quiet again.

'Wait!'

Demyx tried to concentrate, only to be hit by a jolt of pain. He fought through it as he tried to move. Agony ripped through his mind and body any time he tried to move. He wanted to scream, to cry out for whoever was there not to leave. He only just managed to let out a weak groan as he opened his eyes, cringing as a bright light pierced through the darkness. Everything hurt and his head was killing him.

"Demyx?"

Demyx let out a soft groan as he opened his eyes again. There were figures looking down at him and as his vision went more into focus, it was then that he recognized them.

"Guys?"

He only just managed to croak out the word as he looked up at them. His throat was burning as if it had been scraped raw.

"Demyx!"

Xion threw her arms around him in a tight hug, catching the dirty-blonde by surprise.

"Hey hey.. What's with the sudden hug?" he asked confused. "You know I nearly destroyed you guys right?"

Xion looked up at him with an almost sad expression, which confused Demyx. Why would they have emotions? It didn't make much sense.. And yet..

"What's the matter?"

"You were almost sent to oblivion.." Xion said softly.

Demyx stared at her for a long moment.

"I.. Uh.."

No words came to Demyx's mind as he tried to think of what to say.

"What you did was very reckless," said Vexen. "You should have known better than to make such an action."

"Hey, it was the only thing I could think of to DO!" said Demyx defensively. "I had to make that creep leave me ALONE!"

"Even so, you had nearly been erased from existence." said Vexen. "However, after running a few tests on you, I have found that whatever entity had taken you over.. Is no longer present."

Demyx released a breath that he was unaware that he had been holding.

"S-so.. Uh.. About everything that's happened.. Uh-"

"We do not blame you for what had happened." Vexen cut in. "However.. As a precaution on the subject.. I suggest you hold back on your rage.. Not that Nobodies could possibly show real emotions.. But.. It is better not to take the chance of this happening again."

Demyx opened his mouth but closed it again before he nodded.

"Good.." said Vexen. "Now.. I suggest you rest.. We will continue our missions once you all had rest."

Demyx and the others watched Vexen leave before Demyx let out a sigh. He turned to look at the others as he felt their gazes on him.

"Look.. I know what Vexen said but.. I still think I shouldn't have let things get to me.. And honestly, I think that even if they're not real emotions-"

"Hey, don't sweat it," said Axel, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Now.. How 'bout we get some ice cream to celebrate?"

"Is that really your answer to everything?"

"Well, why not?" said Axel. "I mean, that's kinda what friends do, right?"

Demyx stared at him.

"You.. Consider me as a friend?"

"Well, what ELSE would I consider you?"

"Oh, I dunno.. A spaz? A lunatic? A psychopath? Take your pick.."

Roxas made his way over to Demyx and placed a hand on his shoulder, causing Demyx to look up. Roxas in return gave him a soft smile.

"Uh- t-thanks.." he muttered softly.

Xion joined them, giving Demyx a tight hug. This caught Demyx off guard and his eyes grew wide. He glanced up to see Axel smirking at him.

"Uh- well- uh.." Demyx cleared his throat.

"Oh chill out, Demyx," Axel grinned "It's fine.. Now, let's go get that ice cream."

Demyx stared at him for a moment before a smile crept onto his face.

"Yeah.. Okay." he said.

After removing the cords connected to the machines, Demyx stood up from the bed. Axel nodded and smiled before opening a Dark Corridor. Roxas and Xion followed behind Axel as he entered the void in reality.

Demyx glanced around the room as he became deep in thought. He would need to make it up to the others after this, especially Larxene. While he still had a strong dislike for her, he supposed it would be best to make up for the mistakes he had made. After a moment or so of thought, Demyx followed behind them. Perhaps.. He could get used to this.. After all, with everything he had done, Demyx realized that he no longer had to face things alone as he now knew he had friends he could count on.
