Ash- Thank you so much for your review ! Well I will get to them, don't worry ;) But for now there is a bit of Fluff waiting ahead..

Carlisle

His inner turmoil was growing until the point where he could not think straight. He had no idea what the nurses were telling him or which patien was next. Exhausted he leaned against the wall of his office. After asking the same nurse three times for something she already told him, he excused himself to his office.

Again and again he thought about the weird exchange. He analysed her words, her apperance, her demeanor. He thought about her tired face and hated himself. He hated himself for hurting her, for betraying Esme and failing his family. He hated himself for not having a better solution.

He heard the engine of Edwards Volvo and before he could react, the boy was standing in his office. He tried to keep his head up but instantly knew that he failed. Edward knew him so well, even without his mind reading he could see right through him.

"Edward. Did something happen?"

It was a farce, a game he played. He knew very well that Edward problably heard his musings already in the car. He could almost feel as Edwards searched his thoughts, but searched for what?

"Where is Leah?"

The tone in Edwards voice left no doubt in the seriousness of the situation and suddenly it became clear to him.

Her face, the emotion he could not decifer. It was not anger or hurt. It was resignation.

Carlisle felt a pain he never knew could exist. It was worse than his changing, worse than anything he had known. The thought alone, that Leah could be hurt was unbearable and the stumbled a few steps backwarts. Edwards face was pained, as if he could feel his agony.

He ran. He did not care that he still wore his doctors coat, he did not care that the nurses were looking after him as he fled the hospital without an explenation. His body pushed him to a speed, that he never ran before and his mind was racing.

The forest was rushing beside him in a swirl of color, it was raining heavily, the thick drops clashing against his skin but he could not feel it. Deer was fleeing from him, with his speed it noticed him as he was already past it. Normaly he would feel the venom pool in his mouth but thirst was the last thing on his mind right now.

It took a excruciating long time until he found her scent. He was astounished how far she got, maybe she was in her wolf form. But if she was, why hat nobody stopped her? He flashed his teeth in an animally fashion. They were supposed to protect her. He had to shake his anger off, it was not helping. And if he was honest to himself, he had to admit that he was the reason why this was happening. It was his fault. His naive stupidity that he could fight this, that if he could fight his urge to kill humans, he could fight or postpone this as well.

As soon as he could hear her heartbeat, his body relaxed. He felt relief flooding through his veins and send a prayer to God and anybody who would her the words of a damned creature.

He saw her standing on a cliff, she was thinner than he remembered and again he felt the guilt clawing his stomach.

As he said her name and was shocked how weak and estranged his own voice sounded. As she turned around he saw her red eyes and the tear streaked face. A noice came out of his throat that he could not recognize. His body was on automatic, numbly he stimbled towards her. He barely noticed his own arms as they circled arount her form. He felt her raven hair tickle as he pressed his face in her neck. Greedily he breathed in, trying to take as much from her as possible to calm his fear. His hug surely was too strong but he could not ease it. He was a drowning man in despair and she was the only thing that could save him.

The warmth surged through his body, engulfed him, enticed him. It made him ligh headed and he was sure, had he not her to lean on, he most likely would just fall on the ground.

Leah

"Leah." a sad smile graced her hardend features as her mind played its last trick on her. His scent was everywhere, seeping through her pores and gave her the false feeling of security, strenght and hope. She almost did not turn around but she could not help it. Suprised she found him right in front of him. Again she was sure that he was a mere joke of her imagination. But as she dreamed of him, his eyes were never this desperate. Disbelievingly she stared at his form, as he stumbled forwards. She felt his arms around her, crushing her in despair. It was painful but not painful enough to end it.

She could feel his nose in her neck and his long lashes tickeling her. She noticed her arms as they lifted on their own to wrap themselves around his broad form.

A sob escaped and she was shocked to find out, that it came out of his throat. Slowly she closed her eyes. His skin was smooth and soft, it was almost against his nature to feel this good. Her hand wandered to ne nape of his hair and she almost groaned as she felt the softness of his blonde hair.

The sharp noise of his ringtone cut through the air and while she took a step back, he followed her, seemingly unwilling to break the contact.

He fumbled in his bag of his doctors coat, which she just had noticed and pressed the device on his ear. His eyes never left hers and the emotion she saw in them was so raw, that she almost wished he would look away.

Carlisle spoke so fast that she could not understand a single word he said. Not that she was listening anyway, she was too busy to enjoy the feeling of his nearness. It was easy, way too easy to lose herself in the new emotion and she regretted it as soon as she heard the one name, that would be her downfall.

"Esme."

It was not just her name, it was the look in his eyes and the way he turned away from her. It made one thing clear, never trust happiness. Even if it was standing right in front of you.
