"Can anyone tell me what we're doing on Knowhere?" Rocket asks. "We've been walking for so long."

"I cannot tell you what we are doing here," Drax replies.

"Well, we're here," I respond, gesturing to the familiar, old hangar.

"What is this place?" Gamora questions.

"You do realize that I could have just blasted this place open so we could land inside," Rocket points out. I ignore him as I crush the lock on the door.

"This is where I lived for the first three months I was in this universe," I tell my teammates.

"You're saying you're not from this universe?" Gamora asks me.

"No. This is Universe 19,999. I'm from Universe 38 and my cousin had some friends from Universe 1."

"I am Groot."

"Yeah, I know it sounds impossible. I arrived on Earth about a day before Kara's friend from Universe One first showed up. At first, I thought the whole thing was just a weird dream."

"You are not a Terran?" Drax asks.

"No, I'm not from Earth. Most humans don't have superpowers."

"Where are you from then?"

"Krypton," I answer sadly. "It was destroyed when I was nine, so my brother, cousin, and I were sent to Earth."

"Superman, Supergirl, and Superkid," Rocket reads, picking up an old newspaper clipping off the floor. "Those names are actually worse than 'Star-Lord'."

"That was me, my brother, and my cousin," I snap, pulling the paper out of Rocket's paw and putting it in my pocket.

"How did you get here?" Gamora asks.

"Well, one morning, when I was twelve, I was grounded but I wanted to go to the mall with some friends. I snuck out, but while I was walking home, the sky turned red. A dimension-jumping alien appeared in front of me. He said that he was the Monitor and that it was the end of a big chunk of the multiverse, including Earths One and Thirty-Eight. He told me that I had a purpose elsewhere and the next thing I knew, I was here on Knowhere. Two years later, when we came here to sell the Orb, the Monitor showed up to make sure I joined the Guardians.

"What is your purpose?" Peter questions.

"I'm not sure. I'm starting to think that I might never know."
