Prologue, Part 7: Lucy's Retaliation At The Party, Fleeing To The Back Streets & Mai's Mercilessness on The Chisato Bridge!
After running out of Mai's bedroom, Lucy found herself going through some hallways that would take her back to living room. When she got back to the living room, Lucy's cocoa brown eyes widened in shock from seeing people start to take photos of her. Several of those people even looked at her with facial expressions displaying their disapproval, as they chose to believe Mai's words about how Lucy was a slutty girl who wanted to have sex with Minako. Lucy couldn't even get Minako to clear up the situation, due to how she was close friends with Mai.
Since Lucy viewed herself to no longer be Mai's friend, she simply ran towards the front door while wanting to just go back home. However, Lucy watched Mai quickly go past her to get in front of the door. Mai aggressively pushed Lucy away from the door by slamming one hand against her stomach, causing Lucy to harshly fall down to the ground. Lucy slowly got on her hands and knees, before struggling to regain her balance while she felt very stressed. She looked at Mai with a frustrated frown appearing on her face, wondering what else Mai could want after pranking her again.
Mai looked down at Lucy with sadism in her eyes while she began to grin in a rude manner from seeing Lucy fall back down to be on her knees. Mai thought that Lucy was now kneeling in front of her, almost like a princess who was begging the queen for mercy after doing something that seemed hurtful to the queen, and Mai decided to raise her hand high in the air. Everyone looked at the sight of Mai raising her hand, before she quickly swung it downward to roughly slap Lucy in the face. That caused Lucy to scream in pain, along with how she touched her face to feel a sore bruise now being on her cheek. Lucy's hand slightly moved downward, allowing Mai to see the redness of the wound.
She merely giggled in a pleased manner at how an underclassman like Lucy stayed on the ground, seeing her to be aware of her social standing that pertained to Magnolia Academy's former and current students, and Mai proceeded to just place one of her hands under Lucy's chin while her lips formed an evil grin. Physically hurting Lucy would be very fun, but Mai also felt like she wanted to rile up the younger girl to keep adding to her humiliation. She wanted to see Lucy possibly cry from how she was foolish enough to think they would have a relationship, and Mai began to have a vicious look in her eyes.
"Just so you won't stupidly be looking for a thief forever, Lucy, I hope you'll be relieved when I tell you that I stole your little treasure to sell it for so much cash. Since I have so much money now, I should at least thank you for going through so much trouble to plan our first date in that area where you found the treasure." Mai explained to Lucy with a rude smirk on her face, before blushing and feigning a proud smile towards Lucy as she started speaking in a happy manner.
Lucy asked Mai with anger and sadness in her voice, closing her eyes to hide how they were filled with confusion at how the date itself seemed meaningless, "Even if our first date was insignificant to you, why would you make me worry so much about it?"
"Sweetie, the sight of your panicked face when something seemed wrong really made the moments before seeing the treasure seem so worthwhile. Of course, you being so worried was part of my calculated plan for just using you. Lucy, you didn't even experience your first time having sex before you wanted it so badly for me. Messing with your emotions even on that night always made teasing you be so fun." Mai told Lucy with a satisfied grin on her face, recalling Lucy's facial expressions of worry or anxiousness.
Lucy replied to Mai with tears slowly entering her eyes, realizing that she had been loving someone who never appreciated that love, "Even before that night, I... I was going to treat you like a queen for every celebration or date! You... you never even cared about any of our dates!"
Upon hearing Lucy say that, Mai merely taunted her by looking down at the pink scrunchie that was on her left wrist. She glanced down at it with a rude smirk, almost like she was attempting to refute Lucy's claim of not caring about their dates whatsoever, and Mai only went on dates with Lucy because of what she could get from her. The fact that Mai truly never loved Lucy and stole her treasure were only more fuel to the fire of how Lucy started to imagine her memories with Mai burning in large flames, almost like being pranked had made Lucy feel like every good memory was just a pile of worthless ashes to Mai.
Lucy placed her hands on her head while feeling so stressed, before bowing her head in a saddened manner from thinking of Mai's smiling face, and even hearing Mai giggle right now like when she giggled in their fake relationship only made Lucy imagine the image of Mai's smiling face shattering like the heart-shaped box to reveal her cruel smirk that always seemed to be behind the shattered remains of a fake smile. The feigned smile of love towards Lucy had been nothing more than a façade during the times where Mai was around her, and the fact that Mai completely shattered the illusion of how she was a kind person only made Lucy cry more while looking very angry.
In her moment of anger, Lucy got up to slap Mai. She unintentionally made her nails strike Mai's face, cutting her cheek to make five slash marks appear on the right side of her face, and the pain made Mai move away from the door. That prompted Lucy to unlock the door and open it, before running away to leave the party. As she ran out of the house, Lucy heard Mai start to whimper in a very scared manner. She seemed a bit startled from Mai turning to face her, one hand being on her cheek to touch the wounds that were now dripping with blood. Upon seeing the blood on her fingers, Mai's eyes widened in shock and she gasped before angrily screaming at Lucy.
"YOU FUCKING BITCH! YOU DAMAGED MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!" Mai aggressively screamed at Lucy, before running out of the house to roughly tackle her down to the ground.
Lucy responded harshly, as she started kicking Mai in the stomach repeatedly to get away from her, "After how you had the nerve to use me for some sex and pretend to love me just to steal my Celestial Fragment for your own gain, you deserve worse! You shouldn't even be anywhere near me anymore, you abusive whore! Go be a porn actress, since sex is part of your stupid pranks! That's perfect for a skank like you!"
Kanami interrupted the scene to say aloud with a concerned facial expression, as she ran outside to see Mai starting to aggressively put her hands on Lucy's neck, "Mai, don't get so riled up! Just let Lucy go, and don't let your own party be ruined with this type of fight! Strangling is going too far, Mai!"
At that moment, Mai took her hands off of Lucy's neck to face Kanami with an angry glare. She was definitely not going to let someone seemingly lesser than her even think that they could talk to her in such a rude way without facing any consequences. Mai quickly turned around to face Lucy, who wasted no time with trying to run back home, and Mai fully turned her attention to Kanami. She immediately ran towards her friend, before grabbing her shoulders to prevent her from moving, and Mai looked into her friend's eyes for a moment to just state a threat through making eye contact.
Kanami didn't waste any time before fearfully nodding, her throat softly gulping down air as she looked very nervous about the idea of personally dealing with Mai's vicious tendencies. Kanami didn't want to face Mai's wrath for preventing her from hurting Lucy any further, which made her decide to give Mai a supportive smile of sadism from choosing to go along with whatever Mai's next plan was going to be. Kanami was not the only person who would need to agree with Mai's plan as a way of staying in her good graces, though.
Mai watched Naomi walk out of the kitchen while she still seemed sober after drinking one entire glass of alcohol, and Mai walked past Kanami to aggressively bring Naomi over to the front door. Mai was about to sternly explain her version of the events to Naomi, who had been too busy eating food at the party to pay much attention to Mai's prank tonight. However, informing Naomi of things would have to wait because of how Minako soon came into the living room while wearing her pink dress. Now that Minako was fully clothed and going close to the door, Mai felt like she could now inform her friends of how Lucy supposedly slashed at her face to show her abusive side in retaliation.
Five minutes later, on the back streets of Magnolia Town...
Lucy felt like she needed to slash at Mai's face as a way to make her move to a different spot that wasn't blocking the door, and she kept running while looking stunned at some drips of red blood that were lightly on her hand. Lucy wanted to immediately wash the blood off of her hand, but she would have to go back to her apartment. Lucy's apartment was unfortunately on the other side of Magnolia Town, which meant that it would take time for her to reach her apartment, and Lucy soon found herself in an unfamiliar area of the town.
Lucy was on the back streets of Magnolia Town, taking notice of how these streets were in a sherbet orange shade while they were made from cobblestones, but these streets weren't as neat-looking as other places. Unlike the area where the sacred shrine was located, Lucy found herself running past fallen trash cans and dark alleys while leftover pieces of garbage were scattered across the ground. Lucy thought that she soon heard the soft sound of someone's foot stepping on a breakable piece of trash behind her, prompting her to run while looking quite scared.
She also had fear in her eyes from how the moonlight made some black shadows be on the walls of buildings, even mistaking the large shadow of a small rat for an intimidating monster, and Lucy felt like she needed to go through an alleyway to get away from the backstreets. Lucy went through a nearby alleyway, before making a left to go in the direction that would lead her to her apartment, but continuing to run fast without any real navigational equipment such as a compass caused Lucy to end up running into an alley that had a dead end.
Upon seeing a building's brown bricks that signified a true blockade to Lucy's desire to run forward, Lucy groaned in frustration and loudly slammed her fists against the wall. Lucy's loud groan was followed by the loud sounds of footsteps coming towards her, causing her to quickly turn around, and she widened her eyes in shock. She didn't expect Mai Kinoyama to be walking towards her with the other girls from that clique by her side, and it seemed like Mai had been looking for Lucy. Mai wasn't done with the task of harming Lucy, and she snapped her fingers to prove it.
After Kanami and Naomi followed her silent order of restraining Lucy's arms, Mai asked Lucy in a stern tone while her facial expression was sinister, "You didn't really think that I'd let you get away with trying to hurt me, did you?"
"M-Mai..." Lucy replied to her in a startled tone, as she was now realizing how this was a very bad situation.
When she saw Lucy's body tremble while her face looked like she wanted to panic, Mai told Lucy in a sadistic tone while smiling, "In fact, you won't get away with it. However, that panicked face of yours amuses me to where I'll keep you alive until we go somewhere more suitable."
Before Lucy could ask Mai about where she'd be taking her, she felt Kanami and Naomi firmly put her arms behind her back like she was a prisoner in handcuffs. Naomi even treated Lucy like a prisoner by aggressively slapping her in the face for supposedly abusing Mai, and she pushed Lucy towards the older woman who stood next to Minako. Mai proceeded to lead the group of the girls out of the alley, taking them all through an alleyway to reach a route of the back streets that led to a dirt path. The dirt route would take people from Magnolia Town to the adjacent town of Chisato, a place that claimed to have an interesting attraction.
Mai watched Kanami and Naomi walk past her with Lucy being restrained, which prompted Mai to harshly kick Lucy in her back for her to now be on her knees, and she simply let the girls drag her away. She heard Lucy groan in pain at how her body was getting dragged and dirtied from the ground, but Mai didn't care whatsoever. She cared about making Lucy pay for what she had done, but a very dark smirk appeared on Mai's face from how she realized that something very important occurred at the party. In fact, this important thing was tied to how Lucy scratched her face.
Lucy was so very angry about her personal treasure being stolen by Mai, and she would've definitely told some police officers in Magnolia about Mai's thievery if the girls hadn't caught up to her in time. Now that they found Lucy, letting her escape and be a snitch about that crucial information would just wreck Mai's reputation. That would also probably wreck her chances of getting into a fashion agency or an acting agency for her to career to make her become even more wealthy than how she currently was, so Mai couldn't have a snitch being vengeful enough to ruin her life. Therefore, Mai would just need to ruin hers.
"Enjoy your next few minutes of life, Lucy. They'll hopefully be your last." Mai told her in a calm tone, as the group kept walking towards something that was in the distance.
Lucy turned around to ask Mai with fear and panic in her eyes, looking very worried, "What are you going to do to me, Mai?"
"I'm going to take you to a place where we can all get a good view of your panicked face for the rest of the night, if you know what I mean." Mai replied to Lucy in a scheming manner, as her smirk became quite sinister.
Mai started to think about how she'd be taking Lucy to a place that would be very similar to a location that Lucy seemed to genuinely enjoy, as she could see the sun from that nice place while even getting a good view of other areas. Those areas may have been below where Lucy had been with Mai, but the view of them had been very fantastic. That probably wouldn't be the case for where Mai was taking Lucy, though, since she would probably hate the view of anything other than the place where Mai would want to watch Lucy plead for mercy.
Mai hoped that Lucy being on her knees would truly lead to her begging for mercy, as that would make Mai want to torture her much more. Physically beating up Lucy tonight would be a nice way for Mai to complete her revenge, but she hoped that there would be a way for her to also mentally torture Lucy. Mai wanted Lucy to be in the position where she'd have to even beg for some wounds to not be inflicted on her body, as Mai wanted to see the bold underclassman soon become a submissive person who would have to beg for the chance of not dying.
The place where Lucy's death would occur soon came into view, letting everyone see the Chisato Bridge, and Mai smiled happily at how the sight of a large pink bridge got closer while that lovely sight was accompanied by the sound of Lucy's body continuing to get dragged down the dirt route. Mai wondered if she and the other girls would have to clean up the dirt route when their business was finished, since Lucy's fingers that dripped small drops of Mai's blood were leaving a trail that Mai had faintly seen in the dark back streets before the moonlight on the dirt path illuminated it with more brightness. Of course, the upcoming situation would be kept in the dark from any witnesses who would possibly see any of Lucy's blood on the bridge later.
Fifteen minutes later, on the bridge...
When all of the girls got to the bridge, Naomi and Kanami released their hands from keeping Lucy's arms behind her back. She groaned in oain from how her arms felt very sore, almost like a strong amount of pressure had been pushing her arms down against her back, and Lucy turned to face Mai with a stern glare. She wasn't going to die on the wooden pink bridge without a fight, and Lucy hoped that she could escape from the girls who were harassing her. She decided to give Mai a little taste of her own harassment by using all the force in her left arm to throw a punch, but Lucy looked terrified from seeing Mai easily grab her fist.
Mai proceeded to punch Lucy in the face with her other hand, sending the blonde-haired girl stumbling back a few feet, and Mai watched Minako aggressively kick Lucy in her left side. That was followed by Mai punching Lucy in the face two more times, before viciously knocking her off-balance with a leg sweep, and Lucy screamed in pain after hitting the ground. Those screams of pain didn't stop Mai from harshly stomping on Lucy's chest three times, causing her to cough up some blood, and she watched Lucy start to let out soft gasps in a pained manner.
Naomi feigned a friendly smile while helping Lucy get back on her feet, before rudely laughing at how Mai punched Lucy in the face quite hard to give her a black eye. Upon getting punched so hard, Lucy felt very dizzy. She stumbled towards Minako, who slapped her in the face five times, and Lucy was soon grabbed from behind. Minako pulled her into a hug, before pushing her away as a preparatory move that got followed by a barrage of harsh kicks to her stomach. The last kick made Lucy get slammed against the hot pink wooden railings that kept people from falling off the bridge, and her eyes widened in a pained manner from being beaten so roughly.
As she was about to fall down, Mai grabbed Lucy by her hair and aggressively pulled her upward for their eyes to meet. Mai simply watched tears of stress and pain fall from Lucy's eyes, liking how her hair even looked as dirtied as some of her bruises that were now a bit bloody, and Mai watched Lucy weakly move her foot forward in an attempt to land a kick against her aggressor. That made Mai step back, before choosing to stomp on one of Lucy's feet with her high-heeled shoes, and she smirked evilly with malice in her eyes from seeing severe redness be on Lucy's bruises while her toes bled. As she heard Lucy breathe in an exhausted manner while still maintaining those pleading eyes, Mai decided to mentally torture.
"Lucy, you seem tired. Maybe you want me to stop hurting you, but I'll never stop. I'll keep beating you, and you won't get to rest until you tell me how you'll atone for the scratches you inflicted on my face." Mai told her in a sadistic tone of her voice, before yanking on Lucy's hair to make her fall to her knees like she was begging for mercy.
Lucy weakly responded, as she looked up at the older woman, "M-Mai, please... P-Please... stop..."
"What was that?! You can't give me an answer, you blonde bimbo?!" Mai aggressively asked Lucy, before viciously punching her in the neck.
Upon getting punched so hard, Lucy felt like she couldn't breathe without being in excruciating pain. The pain wouldn't even go away after she closed her eyes, and Lucy fell backwards. As she landed on the ground and felt Mai let go of her hair, Lucy also felt her body start to get dragged across the wooden bridge like she was a dispensable toy. Mai soon displayed how disposable Lucy was to her by grabbing Lucy's wrist to slam her down on the ground several times, her body suffering many injuries, and Mai even scratched different parts of Lucy's arms to make her feel the pain that Lucy dealt earlier to her.
She watched Lucy struggle to scream, prompting Mai to just slash at Lucy's bare legs with her nails before gripping one of Lucy's legs tightly to hold her while slamming her body against the bridge. Mai even tried to twist Lucy's leg around, only managing to dislocate her thigh to where Lucy ended up pushing through the pain to scream from how Mai was sadistically harming her. Lucy watched Mai place one hand over her mouth, before punching Lucy in the face multiple times to make her face start looking swollen, and Mai slammed her fist against Lucy's other eye to give her another black eye.
Lucy struggled to stand up while she could barely keep her eyes open, trying to turn around in an attempt to start walking away from Mai. That only prompted Mai to glare at her in a disapproving manner, before breaking off a small part of the bridge with one hand. The small piece of wood was sharp, its spiky endpoints being sharp enough to pierce through things, and Mai attempted to stab Lucy in the back. Even with her speed, Mai wasn't fast enough to keep her attack from stabbing Lucy in her right side. The wooden spikes pierced through her skin, but the pain of the stab's impact made Lucy fall forward without screaming. Mai wouldn't let her go in the direction towards Chisato Town, and she roughly removed the wooden weapon from Lucy's bloody wound before dropping it near the railing. As she saw Lucy's blood fall on to the bridge and go through small crevices to reach the water below, Mai started to smirk in a devilish and wicked manner. She contrasted that by picking up Lucy to carry her in her arms like a bridal-style position, and Mai ignored the other girls who looked shocked at her excessive viciousness.
Mai told Lucy with a loving smile suddenly appearing on her face, feigning niceness as she used one hand to put blood from Lucy's newest wound on the face and lips of the girl who was losing consciousness, "I enjoyed messing with you so much, sweetie, but the blood on the bridge means you have to die now. I hope you're not expecting a goodbye kiss."
Lucy weakly managed to utter, as she was faintly breathing with her arms shakily rising upward to nearly wrap around Mai's neck, "M-Mai... don't... hurt... me... anymore."
Mai merely replied to Lucy with coldness in her voice, as her hair started to cover the wickedness that was in her eyes, "In a few minutes, Lucy, you won't be able to feel anything."
Since Mai thought that Lucy would die in a few minutes, she wanted to have some final moments of fun from torturing her in sadistic ways. Mai picked up her spiky piece of wood that was nearby, before making some of Lucy's blonde hair cover her eyes like she needed a makeshift blindfold, and Mai slammed the wood against Lucy's hair that nearly touched the bridge. She practically nailed down Lucy's hair, before slicing off some of it with the sharp piece of wood, and Lucy's blonde hair soon appeared to be at half of its initial length. Mai watched some tears slide down Lucy's face, seeing that she felt pain from her hair being nailed down before it was sliced off like a knife cutting through cloth. Mai even picked up Lucy's hair to throw a small bit of it on to the bridge, before dropping all the remaining sliced hair on Lucy's body to make her seem like a female dog that just shed off some of her fur.
That was Mai's cruelest way of seemingly getting back at Lucy for fiercely tearing off part of her dress, but Mai smirked evilly while she wasn't done with her torture. She grabbed Lucy's wrists to get the wounded girl's hands away from reaching her neck, and Mai aggressively pulled on Lucy's arms to dislocate her shoulders. Lucy could only continue to have tears streaming down her face while the pain and her bloody wounds made her body tremble more. However, Mai glared down at her while feeling like Lucy would need a worse reason to tremble.
Mai roughly put her hand underneath Lucy's bra to aggressively grope one of her breasts, before roughly groping the other one, and her hands moved around in circles with pressure firmly pushing against Lucy's breasts for her to possibly feel aroused in what seemed like her last moments of life. Mai even leaned down to nearly share a kiss with Lucy, before acting like she clumsily dropped her during that teasing moment, and the blushing girl who was in so much pain fell down quite hard into the shallow waters of a fast-moving river. As Mai and her friends immediately ran away to find supplies for cleaning up the blood and fallen blonde hairs of someone who was no longer around them, Lucy's damaged body was now being swept away from below the bridge to take her elsewhere during the time where she officially passed out to be fully unconscious.
How was Chapter 7 of the prologue? This chapter is meant to display how Mai cares more for her reputation and covering her tracks, instead of caring about Lucy at all. This chapter is also meant to display Lucy retaliating at Mai for her actions, and Lucy saw Mai's true nature that shattered the possibility of LuMai being the story's main pairing. Anyway, this is the final chapter of the prologue and that signifies how this arc is officially finished! The next chapter is where Cana will appear for the first time in this story, and that will feature a slight bit of LuCana. I'll update as soon as possible. :)
