Little brown pigtails bobbed their way down the aisles of desks toward Francis's desk. Seychelles slid her paper onto his desk and pulled herself to peek over the edge at him.
My favorite things are singing my favorite songs, and monkeys my big brother shows me and having snowball fights with my brothers Mattie and Al and big fish and swimming and when the sun shines and when it rains!
I like singing my favorite songs because it makes me happy and I can sing four different languages now and I'm learning French now! And when I sing I can dance! That makes me happy too!
I like monkeys because they're like little people, but with tails! My big brothers sometimes say I'm the monkey queen because I have two tails! And I think that's really mean!
And I like snowball fights cuz I think they're super cool! It's weird how snow can make your hands all cold so that's why I have to wear gloves and hats and coats and boots even though Mattie just has a sweater and he's always fine and yeah!-
Francis rubbed his eyes and blinked before trying to address the little essay Seychelles had just given him.
"Oh Chere, this- this is great. All except for these." He ran his finger across all the exclamation marks scattered across her paper. "Those are just for important or exciting things."
Seychelles frowned and scanned the paper. "But, everything here is exciting. You said write about the stuff I like the best, and the stuff I like the best is the exciting stuff!" Her big eyes looked up into his.
"Everything… is exciting?"
"Yeah!" Seychelles spun in a circle. "I love everything in the whole world, especially now that I have all my new friends and new stuff to do! It's all super exciting!"
Francis thought he was going to die of a cuteness overload, "Mon dieu, you're too cute. Far too cute! Come here." Francis hugged his little girl.
A/N I put exclamation marks on everything and for the longest time I thought it was problem. Then I found this post that ended up on Pinterest that was like 'why do you not see a lot of exclamation marks in writing? like, why write about boring stuff?' and I was like YEAH! (and Seychelles is one of my favorite characters cuz [like Italy] she's just super happy-excited all. the. TIME.)
