"You got your books?"

"Yes mom."

"Pencils? Paper? Notebooks?"

"Yes, yes and yes mom."

"You got your tie? You didn't choke yourself, did you?"

"No I didn't dad. No more than you."

"That was an accident and you know it!"

"Honestly you two." Akira lets out a sigh and shakes her head at the two, remembering the just a couple days ago when her husband tried to show their son how to tie a tie and ended up almost choking himself. He simply just made the excuse it's been awhile since he last had to tie one. She just simply gave him a 'I don't believe you' nod of false agreement.

It is the first day of school U.A. with Jason standing in front of his door, having finished tying his shoes when his parents were sending question after question to him while he was getting ready. He stands there in his new school uniform, a gray suit jacket with dark green blue cuffs and shoulder straps with golden buttons, a white dress shirt underneath with a red necktie to go with it, along with some green blue slacks. The uniform is definitely different from the primarily black one he used to wear during middle school but that's not going to stop him from heading off to his new school.

"That's everything." Jason says as he slings his dark blue backpack over his shoulder. "I'm off. I promised Izu I'd meet him at the train station." He grasps the handle of the door and opens it. "I better get going before I miss the train."

"Sweety…"

"Yeah?" Jason turns back when his mother speaks. He looks on curious as his mother gives him a sweet proud smile while father gives him a proud grin with his arms crossed.

"I'm so proud of you. I'm glad to see all your training worked out." She says with closed eyes and a bright smile.

His father gives him a firm nod as he keeps his grin. "You did good son. Now knock them dead out there." He gives his son a thumbs up.

Jason stands there staring at his parents, happy to hear the words of encouragement from them. He returns their smiles with his own and opens the door wider. "Thanks. It means a lot. I'll see you later!" He calls back as he jogs out the door, through the gate and heading off to meet with his friend.

Both parents stare after their kid as he takes off, a slightly worried look now adorning Akira's face. "Do… you think he'll make it?"

Jason's father Michael gives a grim but firm nod. "I put that boy through several kinds of hell, not to mention the lessons he got at the dojo. He better make it." He then wraps his arm around his wife's shoulder and holds her close. "But… I think whatever U.A. has to through at him, he'll push through. He's too stubborn to give up now or at whatever's thrown at him." He turns around and walks back inside.

Akira stays standing at the door before letting out a deep sigh as she stares at the ground. "… But that's what's worrying me." She mumbles under her breath before turning back inside the house.

"You know I'm still not fond of All Might."

"What?!" Izuku turns to his friend in shock as they make their way up the path to their new school. "How can you say that still?"

"Well for starters I'm still not happy with the fact he KNEW you were going to break your limbs like that with h- your Quirk." Jason grumbles, catching himself before he gave away their secret.

"But we didn't have a choice! We were on a time crunch and theirs no way we could have gotten any more training in in ten months."

"I know." Jason sighs sadly as they walk through the hallways of the high school. "Doesn't mean you could have at least some sort of warning beforehand."

"It probably wouldn't have mattered as much. I probably would have been too scared to use my Quirk if that were the case." Jason groans in annoyance before relenting on the issue, finding their to be at least some sort of truth to Izuku's reasoning. "Hey uhhh, where are we? Are we going in the right direction?" Izuku begins to ask, a little worry starting to creep in as he finds himself having a tough time to quickly find out where their class is.

"Don't worry." Jason fishes out a paper from his pocket and opens it with a flourish. "I memorized the map we got. I was leading us as we were talking." Izuku lets out a breath of relief at that bit of news. "Classs 1-A… 1-A… should be around here somewhere."

"There it is!" Izuku shouts and points ahead of them, showing the marker depicting the class number they are to be in.

Although they weren't expecting the door to be so… big.

"Wow." Jason mutters in awe at the sheer size of the door.

"It's huge!" Izuku exclaims in awe as well at the door. "Do they have giants here?"

Jason is about to retort but remembers the multi-armed mask wearing examinee who was his seatmate on the bus. He wasn't as tall as the door that's in front of them currently but he's definitely on the larger side than your average person. Any other regular doors my eventually cause him to actually maneuver through them instead of just casually walking through. It's not a far cry from their being others with Quirks that would force the school to eventually have to accommodate for those with mutation Quirks making them permanently larger. "I don't know about this year, but I'm sure they eventually have to take into account students with Quirks that make them larger."

"Oh yeah. Your right. Being the top hero school in the country I'm sure they either have to take into account of peoples with Quirks like that, like the heroes Mt. Lady and Gang Orca. Either that or they did have people who they needed to make the doors and rooms bigger." Izuku quickly explains, Jason nods along to the reasoning. Izuku takes a deep breath as he feels nervous about this whole thing. "The most promising students in the country are waiting behind this door."

"They are. I just hope we don't have to deal with Bakugo or mister stuck-up through the time hear." Izuku looks at his friend confused by the second person he was talking about. "Glasses who called you out before the exam."

"Oh." Izuku moans sadly at the memory. He is also not too fond of having both of them in his class either. "But, maybe they're in different classes. Maybe everyone in here is nice."

"We are training to be heroes after all." Jason adds with a smirk as he grabs the door and opens it. "Your probably ri—"

"Take your feet off of that desk now!"

"Huh?"

"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!"

Izuku's facial expression falls while Jason deadpan stares at the scene before craning his head upwards, asking several different deity's 'why?'.

Meanwhile the glasses wearing dark blue haired boy looks aghast at Bakugo mentioning him having a stick shoved somewhere most undesirable.

He calms down though and retains a more relaxed but firm stance. "Let's start over." He places his hand on his chest. "I'm Iida Tenya from the Somei Private Academy."

"Private huh?" Jason mutters under his breath. 'High class then. Explains his rigidness of the rules.'

"Somei, huh?" Bakugo doesn't care about the boys previous schools as begins his taunt. "So you must think you're better than me. I'm gonna have fun tearin' you a new one."

Izuku and Jason both shake their heads at the usual attitude Bakugo has.

Iida gasps in shock at the bluntness that the explosion Quirk user exhibits. "You would threaten me? Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?" Bakugo scoffs at that before turning away from him. Unfortunately its right at the door where Izuku and Jason are standing, gaining the attention of Iida as well. "It's him."

As soon as he says that, every other student in the entire class turn as one right at the door. It's only now that they both realize the class is almost completely filled up save for a few empty seats… and now everyone is staring right at the both of them.

"Uh, hi."

"H-hey." Izuku stammers and Jason mutters as best he can, both of them staring elsewhere and not liking the immediate attention on them.

"Good morning!" Iida immediately begins taking his way towards them. "My name is—"

Jason immediately steps in front of his friend and halts the guy from getting closer to his friend. "Listen buddy, I don't care where you came from or who you are. We've already had to deal with your crap at the entrance exam and I'm done with you—"

"That's actually what I wanted to talk to you both about." Iida immediately cuts off Jason, no hint of anger in his voice but just a firmness to it. Jason looks confused at the guy as Izuku steps next to his friend. Iida takes a step back and stands rigid before executing and almost 90 degree bow to the two of them, surprising them both. "I humbly apologize to the both of you for my actions during the entrance exam. I judged you both too quickly and too harshly, basing my thoughts on the two of you solely on first appearances when I should have taken at least some time to see you both in action." He brings himself back up, staring at them as he continues to speak. "Your actions during the test all but proved me wrong in thinking neither of you were right to be here. I humbly beg for your forgiveness." He finishes with another.

"…" Both boys look to each other in slight confusion and surprise, not at all expecting such a strong and overwhelming apology to come at them like that. "Um, yeah sure. It's no problem."

"Yeah, sure man. Your… apologies good man. Please straighten up." Jason mutters as best he can, having not had someone apologize like that.

"Thank you." Iida straightens up and fixes his glasses. "As I was saying before, my name is—"

"Iida Tenya from Somei Academy. We heard you before." Jason finishes his introduction, now giving him a small smile now that the guy genuinely apologized to them. "I'm Takeda Jason, and this is my friend Midoriya Izuku." Jason gestures to his friend.

Izuku smiles as he nods. "Hi. Nice to meet you."

"Midoriya. You realized that there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you?" Izuku and Jason look confused as to what Iida is talking about. "You must be very perceptive, and I as I said before I completely misjudged you, I will admit that. As a student, you're far superior to me."

They both only stare confused at the boy as he seems to almost praise Izuku. "… Do you know what he's talking about?" Jason whispers to his friend.

"He might be talking about the hidden rescue points the exam gave. Since I got in just on those mostly…"

Jason nods at his friends explanation. He can kind of see the reasoning behind it all. Although at this point he doesn't want to say anymore to the rules enforcing student when they both in fact did not know about the hidden points system.

"Hey! I know that messed up head of hair!" A loud bubbly voice calls out. Izuku and Jason turn to see the girl that vouched for them both, Uraraka, has caught up and is greeting them. Well, mostly Izuku but Jason just chuckles softly at his friends flustered embarrassed state in front of the girl.

"Hey there!" Another voice calls out, this one feeling more directed at Jason. He turns to the seated students and sees a familiar face staring at him. "I had a feeling you were going to make it." He's momentarily surprised to see the pink haired horns having girl who sat next to him at the auditorium is sitting in the second seat.

"Oh, hey. Uhh, good to see you." He mutters nervously, his memories of their last encounter leaving him feeling awkward at how he left things off. "I… never got your name I just realized." He mutters to himself but just loud enough that she was able to hear him.

"Ashido Mina! It's so good to see we're in the same class. You did promise we were going to be friends remember?" She tells him with a sly smile.

Jason tenses as he remembers that bit he did when he was focusing on just getting out of the room when they were going to go to the battle centers. He wasn't exactly expecting to be in the same class as her but here she and he are.

He goes to answer until he hears a small shuffling sound. He looks away from her, much to her confusion as she tilts her head at his expression, as he turns to see his best friend and the brunette that saved them still talking to each other, well as much as a conversation one would have when his green-haired friend is flustered and trying not to look directly at the girl, much to her obliviousness as she continues talking animatedly and praising him. He leans just a little towards the door as he looks into the hallway.

He tenses up as he sees a yellow… caterpillar… thing… on the ground in the hallway, behind the still oblivious girl. "Uhhh, people?" Jason mutters, trying to gain their attention while still leaning towards the door.

"Yes? What is it?" Only Iida notices as he asks Jason, who taps Izuku's shoulder to get his attention too.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't wait to meet everybody!"

"If you're just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now."

The gruff adult voice causes the overexcited girl to freeze, as well as Iida and Izuku to take note of the man that Jason is staring at. Uraraka turns her head to the side and sees the large yellow figure on the ground, which Jason now realizes it was a man in what he thinks is a sleeping bag when he opened the zipper to reveal his tired almost sleep deprived face. Uraraka lets out a small whimper at the man lying on the ground while the others are just surprised and dumbfounded by his odd appearance.

"Welcome to U.A.'s hero course." That's the only other thing they are told right before the man opens the zipper just a little more and seems to drink from a squeezable juice pack, or something.

The surprise and confusion on everyones faces are palpable.

"Go… gogogogo seats now." Jason quickly pulls Uraraka inside and ushers everyone to find their seats. A quick look at the seating chart on the board gives everyone the info as to where they need to sit. For Jason he notes his seat is smack dab the first seat of class, right in front of Ashido. 'Joy.' Jason thinks sarcastically. He was always happy to take the seats in the middle or back of the classroom so he won't be called out by the teacher. Having a signed seating chart kind of negated that. He does note that for some reason there are 21 seats in the classroom when U.A. classes typically have only 20.

"It took eight seconds before you all shut up. That's not gonna work. Time is precious." The man states as shuffles out of his sleeping bag and walks into the doorway. "Rational students would understand that. But at least you have the common sense to find your seats."

To say this man doesn't look like your average school teacher would be an understatement, from his long scraggly black hair, the fuzz of facial hair he's sporting, to the almost dead-tired bloodshot eyes. Not to mention his black clothes and the large bunched up gray scarf he seems to be wearing. As he pears around the room, Jason can barely hear the pink girl behind him tense up as his eyes linger on them for just a second. Although for Jason he feels the man's stare linger on him just a few seconds more than he thought he should.

"Hello, I'm Aizawa Shota. Your teacher."

'Our teacher?!' Some of the students all shout same question in their heads at what the man just said. Jason grimaces at the name, having just a little research on some of the teachers and knows this man is not going to go easy.

"Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside." Aizawa proceeds to pull out what is basically going to be their gym uniforms. It's a one piece track suit that's dark blue on the majority of the body, with white lines forming what looks like the letters of 'U' and 'A' on the top and bottom halves of it, along with white patches with red outlines on the short sleeves.

All of the students can only murmur and mutter in confusion at the request. Soon enough though one-by-one the students begin standing up and going to retrieve their uniforms and heading off to the gym lockers to change. Jason shares a glance with Izuku, both of them mutually tense about what their new sensei is going to do or what he wants.

It's only a few minutes later before everyone begins to gather outside in a large open field on the edge of the campus. Some students make it out first and quicker than others as everyone slowly trickles.

This gives Jason at least some semblance of peace of as his mind works to both steady his nerves but also prepare himself for what might come. Technically they are supposed to be heading to the main campus building in order to make it to orientation, but something tells him that may not happen.

As Jason makes his way to the small group of students already gather near their sensei, he smiles as he notices another person that made it into his class. "Hey Shoji. You made it." He greets the large masked student with a small wave.

Shoji returns the wave. "So did you. That's good to see you."

"Do you two know each other?" Ashido comes up and leans in between the two of them, her curious nature taking over.

"Sort of." Jason scratches the back of his head, looking away for a second. "We kind of just met when the practical exam started and that was it."

"We merely sat together when we rode on the bus to the battle center and wished each other luck." Shoji adds on to Jason's quick explanation.

"Not really much to it but its good to see you here." Jason replies to multi-armed student.

"Hey, what about me?" The pink haired girl pouts at Jason, gaining his attention before giving him a sly smile. "Aren't you glad I made it too? Your friend?" She draws out the last word, making Jason shift uncomfortably at the fact that she is not going to let him live down his hastily made promise to her during the entrance exam.

"Now that your all here," The tone of their sensei cuts through everyone's mutterings. A quick look around for Jason shows that everyone else has made it to the field, all dressed in their gym uniforms and ready to hear what their instructor has to say. "I'll get right down to it so we don't waste any more time. Your all going to take part in a Quirk assessment test."

The majority of the students repeat the last phrase he says, confusion running through them at the fact they are basically given a test not even half an hour into their first school day.

"But orientation… We're going to miss it." Uraraka loudly states to everyone. They are in fact supposed to be at orientation but their teacher has other plans.

"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." Aizawa states to the entire class with his back turned to them with a black bag next to his feet. More than a few members of the class gasp at the attitude that their homeroom teacher exhibits. "Here at U.A., we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit." Most of them tense at what he's implying. Jason gives slow steady breaths as he soaks in the mans words, preparing himself for what he might do to them now. "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives. But you never got to use your Quirks in physical exams before." He states, staring at them all now as he holds up a tablet device. "The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn." As he speaks Jason subtly looks around, taking in the appearance and outward looks that consist of his classmates, from the majority of them looking like they have mutation Quirks. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam." Aizawa singles out Bakugo, gaining his attention. "What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?"

"Sixty-seven meters, I think."

"Right. Try doing it with your Quirk." He tosses the ball to Bakugo and points to the white circle in the ground behind him. Bakugo catches the ball easily enough and walks over to the circle and does couple stretches. "Anything goes, just stay in the circle. Go on. You're wasting our time." Their teacher doesn't mince words as he orders the student to get to it.

"All right, man, you asked for it." Bakugo turns away from everyone and does one last stretch with his arms before getting himself into a pitcher's throw stance. Jason can already see the subtle pops of explosions happening in the hand clutching the ball, along with the wide almost feral grin adorning the throwers face. "DIE!"

*BOOM*

True to what Aizawa wanted, Bakugo used his Quirk when throwing, creating the explosion that his Quirk is all about, surprising all but one of the students in the entire class.

"Oh whoa." Izuku mutters in stunned surprise at the power and adaptability that Bakugo just used his Quirk for in sending the ball far away.

"Really? 'Die'?" Jason mutters, pinching the brow of his nose and all but not surprised at the loud word Bakugo used along with his throw, nor the power he unleashed either.

"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Everyone watches as the ball sours high and far into the sky before eventually impacting the ground. A beep goes off on Aizawas device. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." As he holds up the device, it reveals the distance that Bakugo threw the ball: 705.2 meters.

Many of the students gasp at seeing the sheer distance he threw it.

"Whoa, 705 meters, are you kidding?" A blond-haired boy with a black lighting bolt streak in his hair exclaims.

"I wanna go! That looks like fun!" Jason momentarily smirks at the giddiness that Ashido exhibits at the display before returning to his focused state.

"This is what I'm talking about, using our Quirks as much as we want!" A black-haired boy with thick circles on his elbows is fired up about the whole thing. While most of them are pumped about the situation, Jason gets a bad feeling when he sees the dark look the teacher sports.

"So this looks fun, huh?" The tone in his voice gets the others attention as well.

"You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all gonna be games and play time? Idiots."

'He doesn't mince words, not at all.' Jason has to steel himself to keep from flinching at the creepy smile his teacher gives them all, although others are more visible of that state.

"Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potentials. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately."

"Huh?!"

"What?!"

'Immediately?!' Most of the students voice their surprise at this new development, and this time Jason does flinch in surprise as he yells in his head, now realized just how high the stakes have raised for everyone here. His view immediately shifts over to Izuku. He grimaces as he see's his friend almost shake and has a scared look about him, even as he grips his right hand tightly with his left. 'Dammit Izu.' He growls in his head before getting a feeling of someone watching him. When he looks forward again, he flinches as he sees his teacher staring right at him with that same smile on his face, right before he turns to stare at Izuku. 'Not good. Not god damn good.'

"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs." Aizawa states, shaking everyone from their moments of panic as he grabs a bit of his hair and pulls it up, giving everyone a smirk as he gives everyone a completely unobstructed view of his expression. "If that's a problem, you can head home right now."

Jason lets out a low inaudible growl from the others as his hands clench tightly at just how heavy his teacher is to them right now.

"You can't send one of us home!" The loud outcry from Uraraka snaps Jason out of it as she protests this. "I mean, we just got here! Even if it wa'n't the first day, that isn't fair!" Jason is almost tempted to stop her and tell her to keep quiet, less she garner their sensei's ire.

"Oh, and you think natural disasters are?"

'Too late.' Jason groans in his head as he continues to tell them all exactly why life is unfair.

"Or power-hungry villains? Hm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities?" Each example he gives just makes everyone realize just how right he is, as painful as it is to hear. "No, the world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try to combat that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, U.A. will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So, go beyond. Plus Ultra-style."

'As much as his words try to sting us, he's right. We're going to have to push it in order to become hero's and its obvious he's especially not going to go easy.' Jason thinks as flexes his fingers.

Their teacher curls his finger in a 'come on' gesture. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here."

This gets everyone no longer panicking to now getting themselves ready for the trials ahead. Jason cracks his neck a few times, rolling it every which way before getting ready to stretch his legs. 'This is the real deal alright. Can't expect anything less from this school, and our new sensei… Aizawa Shota, I've heard that name before. This is not going to be a cake walk for obvious reasons.'

"Oh, and I almost forgot. Speaking of unfairness…" Aizawa reaches down and picks up the bag. "Takeda!" Jason jerks a little at the loud call out of his name but he's still able to reach out and grab the bag that is tossed to him. He looks confused at the bag before looking back at his teacher. "Due to your… special circumstances," Jason grumbles at his instructor calling him out like this in front of everyone. All eyes stare at him as Aizawa continues, "I put in the request for you to keep that on you at all times while you're here attending school." Jason looks down at the bag before zipping it open. When he looks in, his eyes widen as he stares at the item. Reaching in he pulls out the item.

"Whoa!"

"What the-?"

"That's cool."

Multiple comments come out from his fellow students as Jason hefts up his new shield. It's a solid steel circular shield with titanium studded rivets on the front with no forms of decals on it. It's actually supposed to be one of his support items for his hero costume, having a shield of some kind to help him tank hits from enemies and villains alike just felt like something that would help him in his hero career.

"I pulled that from your hero costume." Aizawa speaks up, getting everyone attention again, more specifically Jason. "If your going to be hero with that that giant hunk of metal, then I want you to get used to it like it's a part of you. If you manage to stay, then everyday from the beginning of class when the first bell rings to the end of the school day, I want you with that thing at all time. Not once am I or any of the other teachers are to see you without it." His eyes narrow as he stares at Jason. "And I better not see leaving it or dropping it on the ground either when we do these tests." Jason doesn't look perturbed by this condition the school has given him, instead he looks down at the shield and finds the straps for it.

"Sir! While I understand the rigorousness, you are going to put us through at this time, I find it unprofessional to single out a student like this with a handicap and—"

"It's okay Iida." Jason's calm voice stops Iida from continuing on his rant. He slips his arm into a strap holder on the inside of the shield before adjusting. "I don't mind."

"But that shield is just added weight. If its not a mandatory support item needed to regulate your Quirk then—"

"Hey." Jason speaks, shutting the glasses wearing boy up as he gets a firm hold of his shield before turning and giving Iida a smile. "Like I said, I'm good. Just par for the course here at U.A." He rolls his left shoulder and arm, getting a feel for the new weight he's carrying, mentally thanking himself for adding weights to his runs.

Iida still looks like he wants to argue but nods and relents nonetheless.

"Good. Now then, we're just wasting time by talking. Let the games begin." Everyone readies themselves for the trials ahead.

Without wasting time, Aizawa had already set up the first test for the students to take: the 50-meter dash.

Jason as well as 18 other students from the same class and their teacher watch as the first set of students get ready at the starting line. The run is supposed to be just to show the students how fast they can run in the short sprint, not one-up each other in an official competition capacity. The reason Aizawa did it so students would go two at a time was to both cut down at time, but also give at least some semblance of a competitiveness setting to get the students in the mind of pushing themselves and not try to hold back. Jason watches as Iida Tenya takes a runners stance on the ground and gets ready to sprint, the engines of his Quirk in his calves already rumbling to get him moving.

Jason looks on in curiosity of his fellow runner: Asui Tsuyu, as what her name is when she was called up to go. Her Quirk giving her the frog-like appearance she has while also giving her the abilities and traits of a frog, from the dark green hair, wide eyes and how she seems to have her tongue poking out of the side of her mouth constantly.

A machine-like robot can be seen on the side of the track, ready to measure the runners and time them when they start the race and when it ends. "Runners, on your marks. Ready," Both runners tense up as they wait for their que.

*Bang*

The sound of a gunshot goes off, followed by both runners immediately running. A small dust cloud kicks up as Iida speeds ahead, taking long strides with his steps covering the distance much farther than his fellow runner.

"3.04 seconds." The machine calls out as he passes the finish line. Its only a couple seconds later that Asui leaps passed the finish line, her frog-like physiology allowing her to hop great lengths along the trac. "5.58 seconds." The machine calls out her time.

Jason simply watches as the next two students are called up: Uraraka Ochaco the gravity nullifying girl, and Ojiro Mashirao, a blond haired boy whose Quirk revolves around the giant tail he has. It's interesting to see Uraraka use her Quirk to lighten up her clothes just a little to give her some means of less resistance as she runs. When they get running though it's Ojiro that takes the lead as he uses the force of his tail hitting the ground behind him to send him flying forward at a much faster pace.

The next two to go is Ashido from before, and a dazzling, as the boy likes to think of himself as, boy named Aoyama Yuga with a weird belt along his midsection. Ashido takes of her shoes while instead of getting in a runners stance, Aoyama simply turns around with a flare twirl and has his back to the track. When the signal is given, he jumps up and a laser beam shoots out from the belt where his belly button is while Ashido uses her Acid Quirk ability to secrete acid from the soles of her feet, allowing her to basically skate along the ground to the finish line. Aoyama had the head start at first but the beam loses power and he hits the ground, allowing Ashido to skate past the finish line as Aoyama gets back up and finishes beaming himself across the line only a second or two behind his fellow runner. With that ever present smile on his face, he turn to everyone and gives his reason for why he didn't just fling himself in one continuous burst towards the finish line. "Shooting my beautiful beam for more than a second hurts my tummy."

Mentally, many of the students call him a tool, Jason facepalms and shakes his head at how he was able to say that with a smile still, but Aizawa is making a note of the students current potential, and what their max potential is going to be if they stay in the class.

"Alright, Bakugo, Takeda, you're next." At Aizawa's next call out, both boys scowl as they glare at one another while Izuku looks on worryingly at the two boys. They don't do anything whatsoever to each other though besides glare at one another as they make their way to the starting line. Bakugo steps up on the left side of the lines while Jason goes to the right.

"Runners on your mark!" The machine calls out.

"You should quit now before you embarrass yourself." Bakugo snarls to Jason quietly, feet planted firmly and in the runners stance.

"Ready!"

"Shut it." Jason quickly replies as he sets his feet into position but he also proceeds to loosen the grip on his shield and extend his left arm back.

*Bang*

With the gunshot ringing out, they both take off. As soon as the start was given, Jason steps forward past the line, bringing his left arm forward and throwing his shield high into the air. Without the added weight of the shield, he is able to sprint towards the finish line at his full speed.

"Burst speed!"

Bakugo's Quirk explosion suddenly goes off as he yells, blasting himself forward with his Quirk and getting a massive boost to his run. It also doesn't help that he subtly made the explosion powerful enough to make Jason feel it.

Except Jason is already used to it, having been on the receiving ends of the explosion Quirk too many times to count. Instead, all that happens is Jason's gym uniform ruffled a little with his hair blown back a little. Bakugo has already made it to the finish line by the time Jason hits past the halfway mark but that's not what's he's focusing on. "4.13 seconds." Just before his foot steps past the finish line, his hand goes up and catches his shield again with his left hand. He makes it past the finish line and stops harshly onto the ground, making his feet slide along the dirt for a second as he slides to a halt. He takes a deep breath and takes a firm hold of his shield, making sure he doesn't drop it. "6.24 seconds." He nods at the time, noting it's almost a full minute faster than his time in junior high.

"Takeda." Aizawa calls out his name, making Jason turn to the man… and he is not happy. "I thought I told you to keep that shield on you at all times?"

Jason isn't perturbed by the accusation. He anticipated something like this was going to happen. "You told me IF I stayed I was to have it on me at all time. These tests were to prove if I am worthy to stay aren't they? You also told me during these tests that I wasn't to drop it on the ground. I didn't drop it… I threw it and caught it before it touched the ground." Jason gives his explanation.

"…" Aizawa continues to stare at the boy but Jason doesn't back down from the glare. "Hm. Alright, next two…" Jason tunes him out as he walks back to the other students, a little annoyed at the teacher seemingly keeping focused tabs on him but at least he got off his back and went to call the other students.

"Wow! That was so cool what you did." As soon as he makes it to the other students, already Ashido doesn't waste time with her bubbly self to show her thoughts on the matter.

"Although, why did you throw your shield like that?" The blond-haired boy, Kaminari Denki, asks curiously.

"Yeah I'm kind of wondering that too." Uraraka voices her curiosity as well. Jason is more than a little surprised at being the center of attention already.

"It's because of the weight, right?" A new voice states, belonging to Asui the frog Quirk girl. Jason stares at her for a second as she tilts her head at him before he nods.

"Essentially. As Iida said earlier, while my shield isn't exactly the heaviest thing out there, since I made the specifications to be as light as they can make it but tough enough to withstand a lot of punishment, which wasn't much they could do, this is still just added weight for me. When I threw it, all that weight was gone and I could run full tilt without being weighed down before I hit the finish line."

Many of the students paying attention to Jason's explanation nod in understanding at that reasoning. "To be honest I thought you were going to smack your head with it when it was coming back down." Ashido's statement gets a small chuckle out of the students. Jason smirks at that, a little happy with the tension breaking that happened. Before he was tense and just completely preparing himself for what the tests were going to be thrown at them. Having just a little bit of humor thrown in allows him and some of the others to relax if even for a second.

'Thanks.' He mentally thanks her.

The rest of the tests proceed as normal as one might expect, or best one can expect with the students present.

The second test for everyone to take was the Grip Strength test. A simple test to take but one that showed clear signs of muscle strength between the all the students as well as ingenuity in some. For Izuku and Jason, they were more on the less end of the strength department but not at the far bottom. Izuku earned a score of 56 kilograms with his grip strength, not exactly putting him even close to in the lead, while Jason only got 49. Jason wasn't disappointed in the score as he knew he wasn't going to do good in it, especially since his training was mostly cardio and all. However seeing the top earners of the test threw some people with surprise while others not as much. Shoji took first place by 500 kilograms worth of weight, another student with large lips named Sato Rikido had gotten third place with his score close to 250, but it was the recommendation earned student Yaoyorozu Momo who surprised people with her second-place spot.

The black spiky haired in a pony-tail girl had the peculiar Quirk of Creation, where she can basically make any non-living thing provided she knows the composition of it. The fact she was able to make the Jaws of Life machine and shows just how smart she is to make such an item and get in on recommendations. Her score of close to 400 kilograms got her the second spot.

The third test was the standing long jump. Some students used their strength itself to send them a distance they can go, however some used their Quirks to send them clear across the sand pit. Aoyama demonstrated his Quirk again by beaming himself across it while Bakugo used his explosions to propel himself over it. While she wasn't able to completely clear it, Asui was able to jump a significant distance nonetheless with her powerful legs. Izuku's score wasn't much better in comparison to the other students but Jason was able to add more distance to his score by using the weight of his shield to his advantage.

Aizawa looks and pays special attention to the Quirkless student in his class as he finishes up the long jump. 'As I said before, there is no fairness in this world and him being Quirkless is going to make it ten times harder for him to become a hero. Even if he had an utterly useless Quirk, being Quirkless he'll be met with many people telling him he can't do it over and over again, no matter how good he does.' Having watched Jason compete in the practical portion of the entrance exam, he will admit it he held himself well enough against the mock villains, but he pushed himself to his limits fighting them and only the rescues points guaranteed his place in U.A. That's why he proposed for him to carry his shield around at all time during school, to get him used to the feel and weight of such an item for his hero costume. He his marginally surprised at the way Jason is performing on the tests and how he's using said shield to even help him at times. 'Just as he was about to jump, he threw his shield arm forward but didn't let go of the shield like he did with the 50-meter dash. Instead he held onto it and let the weight of it carry him forward several more feet than if he was regular jumping.' He stares at the student as he makes his way back to the others students before Aizawa lets out a quiet hum and calls out the next student.

Test four was the repeated side steps and the one who took the top spot for that went to the short statured boy named Mineta Minoru, who's Quirk involved some purple sticky balls he has atop his head taking the place of his hair. They can stick to just about anything but he bounces off them himself. Basically he just made two small piles of his sticky balls and proceeded to bounce himself of them at a significantly fast pace, easily placing him in the top spot for that test.

The next test, test five, was a test that everyone already saw was demonstrated at the very beginning of their tests: the Ball Throw. Bakugo didn't need to go again as he already went but the test still showed some surprising results. In another surprising show of ingenuity, Yaoyorozu proceeded to make a cannon of all things and send the ball sailing far off into the distance. The rules were to stay in the circle and do whatever in order to get the ball flying through the air so she simply stood in the circle and made the cannon on the spot. Of course a lot of students, primarily the boys, and especially one purple ball haired boy who was ogling her, had to turn around because she needs to expose skin in order to make her objects. Having to open up her gym uniform to make it was awkward but the fruits of her labor sent her into the scoreboard. That still pales in comparison to another student. After several students went, it was time for Uraraka to go next. She didn't really look like she was giving much effort when she threw the ball and everyone just watched it climb… and climb… and climb… and climb. For a second Izuku and Jason forgot the girl could nullify gravity for different objects and when she threw the ball, they promptly remembered how unless she gave the ball back its gravity, it was not going to drop.

Which it didn't.

Eventually when everyone pretty much lost sight of the ball, Jason was even tempted of asking Yaoyorozu for some binoculars, Aizawa got everyone's attention and promptly showed everyone the girls score.

"INFINITY?!" That's the reaction everyone has as soon as they see the symbol on the device, much to the brunettes embarrassment at how everyone is amazed by her score.

"But… how… There's no way that device could have calculated the ball to infinity? Even if it traveled into space passed the atmosphere." Jason mutters in confusion.

"Maybe they set it to where once the ball makes it passed the maximum range it can stay in contact of the device, then theirs no limit to how far they can throw it." Izuku tries to come up with the explanation for it.

"I guess. That's about as best as I can see. I can't come up with anything else." Jason shrugs in agreement.

"Midoriya." Both boys look to see Aizawa calling out Izuku's name. "You're next."

Suddenly Izuku's body goes rigid at the idea of him going next. Since he's taken part in all the tests so far, he hasn't exactly gotten any outstanding scores and doesn't feel like he's doing good overall. The chance of him getting expelled is ever present in his mind as he subtly shakes.

"Hey." Izuku flinches at the soft voice and tap on his shoulder. A glance to his side shows his best friend giving him comforting look. "You got this. You'll figure out a way. You always do." Jason quietly and softly tries to comfort his tense friend.

Izuku gives him a nod before stepping forward towards the circle, not wanting to waste anymore time and being on the receiving end of Aizawa's ire. Izuku catches the ball that Aizawa tosses to him and stands in the center of the circle. He stares down at the ball in his hand as he seems to contemplating exactly what he needs to do in order to get a high score.

'C'mon Izuku. If theirs anyone who can do something to make this work, its you.' Jason mentally thinks as he tries to wish words of encouragement for his best friend.

"If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon, he's the one going home." Iida voices the obvious. He too was seeing the poor performance the green and black haired boy was showing.

"Huh? Of course he is. He's a Quirkless loser."

"Grr god Bakugo anything out of your mouth is like angry nails on a chalkboard for me." Jason grumbles, really not in the mood to hear Bakugo anymore of the explosive boys putdowns for his friend.

"You wanna say that again?" Jason doesn't even acknowledge the boy as he growls out lowly to Jason.

"What do you mean? He has a Quirk." Iida's question shifts Bakugo's focus back to the glasses wearing boy. "Did you not hear about what he did in the entrance exam?"

"Huh?" Bakugo is confused by what he means.

Jason gives a small smile as he remembers what happened, especially how his friend jumped in to save both himself and Uraraka so quickly. He also grimaces as he remembers what happened to him when he did use his Quirk.

Jason's eyes widen and his breath hitches as he watches Izuku reel his arm back and throw the ball.

"…"

Everyone looks confused as it looks like Izuku was ready to send the ball full tilt into the sky but it barely goes several meters, even Izuku is confused by what happened. While Izuku is staring at his hand in confusion, Jason looks to the side and flinches when he sees his teacher. "What the—?" He mutters confused. Slowly the rest of the students follow his example and look at their sensei, watching at the slightly changes appearance he has, from his hair flowing upwards and floating above his head, red glowing eyes, and the bandages he had around his neck seem to be flowing and wisping about around him as well, now revealing the yellow goggles he had under them.

"I erased your Quirk." The voice of Aizawa snaps Izuku out of his confusion, making him stare at his instructor and his new look. "The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school."

And just like that Jason's surprise at the teacher is replaced with anger as he gets a dark look, glaring daggers at the back of Aizawa for his words to his best friend, which is something that doesn't go unnoticed by Iida.

"Wait, you did what to my— Ah!" Izuku jerks in surprise as he remembers exactly who the man is. "Those goggles. I know you! You can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head!"

"Huh?"

"Eraser? Who's that?" Different voices mutter their confusion at the unknown hero.

"He's an underground hero." Jason speaks up, retaining a neutral look and getting the others attention as his research in the instructors at U.A., as well as Izuku's own analysis on the hero, springing forth to the front of his mind. He crosses his arms as he explains, his shield arm poised on top of his right arm to not make his shield in the way. "He doesn't stand in the spotlight like other hero's do, preferring to focus on the job than popularity and works primarily at night."

"Oh yeah. I've heard of him a little. He's right about working on the down-low." Asui backs him on his information.

"You're not ready." Jason's fingers grip tightly into his arms as he listens to the man berate his friend. "You don't have control over your power. Were you planning to break bones again? Counting on someone else to save your useless body? Like your friend over there?" Aizawa glances out the side to Jason, making him lowly growl under his breath at the call out.

"No! That's not what I was trying to do!" Izuku tries to explain but Aizawa sends his scarf outward and wraps around Izuku, pulling him towards him.

Jason takes a step forward.

"Stop." A hand clasps onto Jason's shoulder, stopping him from going forward. He glances back to see it's Iida who stopped him. "I know you care about your friend, but sensei's right. You can't keep protecting him and sticking up for him all the time." Jason grimaces at Iida's words but doesn't rebuke the guy. "You're a good friend for sticking by him and helping but he needs to stand on his own two feet if he's going to make it as hero." Iida finishes

Jason grunts angrily at the truth Iida speaks. 'I hate it. I hate it I hate it I hate it… but he's right. Izuku has a Quirk now. He's no longer going to be ostracized by society for being Quirkless. His Quirk is new and he still has train it up.' Jason begins to calm down as he takes steady breaths. 'I doubt Bakugo is going to just let bygones be bygones after everything that's happened all these years… and I won't let him.' More subtle angrier thoughts enter his head as he glances out of the corner of his eye to the blonde explosion user. 'Izuku should not NEED my help with everything, I'll give it when I can… but he shouldn't need it. Iida's right, what kind of hero would he be if I'm the one that keeps helping him all the time.' He sobers up and takes a step back, giving Iida a small nod before straightening himself up, much to the relief of the prim and rules focused boy.

With the closer proximity he has to Izuku, Aizawa speaks in a quieter tone to him, not enough for everyone to hear. Jason could hear if he concentrates hard enough but he doesn't want to hear what the man has to say about his friend. When he's finished talking, Izuku looks down at the words Aizawa says to him… yet he seems to have a kind of a look of defiance about him. "I've returned your impractical Quirk. Take your final throw. Hurry and get it over with." The man finishes saying before turning around and walking back to everyone else.

Jason lets out a breath of air he didn't know he was holding and mentally wishes his friend luck still. 'Please Izu. Do this. You have to do this.'

"I wonder if our sensei gave him some advice." Iida wonders. Jason hopes that's the case but doesn't optimistic in that regard.

"Probably told him to start packing."

"Mmm." Jason lets out a frustrated grunt at Bakugo's comment.

"I'm here, cheri."

'When did Aoyama get here?' Jason thinks as he notices the boy 'trying' to comfort Uraraka, who looks to be she's as worried about Izuku as Jason is.

"Wait, who are you, again?"

"Gck." The Quirkless boy has to suppress a laugh at the girls question. Aoyama doesn't really look perturbed by it though and keeps that smile on his face.

Jason though gets a small smile on his face when he begins to see his friend muttering to himself in his usual tangent, already planning out how he's to use his Quirk without completely obliterating his arm to incapacitation. He needs to keep going in the other tests too.

Izuku is deep in thought as he tries to figure out what to do. 'I still can't control my power. But I can't just give up, either. Do I let the egg explode? Do I just go all out? It might be my only shot at staying at U.A. I have to try something!' He grits his teeth as his face morphs from downtrodden to fierce determination. 'No matter the consequences!'

Gripping the ball tightly, Izuku reels the ball and prepares to send it forward with as much strength as he can muster. 'Aizawa sensei was right about what he said.' Multiple people tense up as they watch Izuku throw his arm forward with the ball in hand, including one barely hidden observer. 'If I can't control my Quirk, there's no way I'll ever become a hero.' Jason grips his shield tightly as he watches in anticipation for what's going to happen. 'He was also right about my friend. I can't keep relying on Jakkun to help me out. He's going to have to work way harder than anyone else if he's going to succeed, way harder than I will have to. He needs to worry about himself first than worry about me!' His arm curves forward, ball barely about to leave his hand as he grits his teeth in preparation. 'I'll have a lot to learn, but I'll what I can, right here right now.' Just before the ball leaves, a small glow appears just on Izuku's index finger, the only finger still in contact with the ball.

"SMASH!"

*BOOM*

With a loud yell, accompanied by a loud blast of air pressure, the ball is sent sailing far and high into the air, a significant and vast improvement than his earlier throw. Multiple people gasp out in surprise at the exertion, with more than a couple grinning at the display.

Jason focuses his eyes on his friends arm. He doesn't need to see how far the ball will go, their teacher will show them either way, but he's focusing on the state his best friend is in. That was the deciding factor on whether he can stay and continue the tests or not. When he sees just how much the damage is, he smiles.

His fingers release the grip he has on his shield and relaxes, a breath of relief escaping his lips. 'His finger… only his finger… not his arm… just finger.' While he still doesn't like to see him hurt, the fact he was able to mitigate the damage by that much shows much improvement.

"Aizawa sensei." The man in question looks up from looking at the score on the device, 705.3 meters, as Izuku turns to the man. He gives the teacher a pained smile, but despite that he grips his injured hand into a fist, showing he's still going. "You see? I'm still standing."

"This kid…" Jason just barely hears the impressed comment Aizawa says about Izuku.

"Yes." Jason whispers to himself but just barely audible to the others around him. "You did it, Izu. You did it." He gives his friend a proud grin before he turns to a sad smile as he realizes something else. "You… don't need me anymore." He finds himself disappointed at that idea, yet it's a mixed battle in his head to be both happy for his childhood friends growth, and sadness that he won't need his help now that he's got a Quirk now. 'We were both Quirkless growing up. People would always pick on us and put us down constantly. Training and getting better at fighting was my way to protect myself from them, and in turn… to protect Izu, my best friend my whole life. But now… now's he's got a Quirk. He won't be put down by people anymore for being Quirkless. He can be… normal… and better than I'll ever be.' Jason's whole demeanor starts to sulk even more as his thoughts progress.

"He threw it over 700 meters." Kaminari points out to everyone.

"Nice, he's finally showing us his true power!" Uraraka cheers loudly.

"But his finger appears to be broken now. Just like in the exam. His Quirk is very odd." Iida states.

"It wasn't a very pretty throw." Jason doesn't bother to listen to Aoyama's comment.

Jason just lets out a sigh and scratches his head with his right hand, having accidentally put himself in a depressing mood from his thoughts just now.

"Hey, you okay?" A voice asks. Jason goes to turn to address the person, but his eyes lock on and widen as he gets ready. 'Of course… why am I not surprised?! I forgot to take into account HIS reaction.'

"HEY!" Bakugo shouts and charges forward, followed by another.

"Crap!"

Izuku looks up in confusion at the loud yelling.

"Deku, you bastard!"

"Aaahhh!" Izuku screams as his former friend no bully charges at him with rage adorning his face.

"Tell me how you did that or- Grah!" Bakugo is interrupted as something tackles him from behind. All the students gasp as the explosive user is taken to the ground so easily. While Bakugo face plants into the ground, his attacker rolls off him before sliding to a stop on one hand and his feet in front of Izuku.

"Jakkun!" Izuku calls out to his friend as Jason places himself between Izuku and Bakugo, knees bent and his shield held up in front of him, an all too familiar face of determination as he gets ready to fight Bakugo yet again.

"Grrr!" Bakugo growls in anger at his fall but he is full on raging as he sees it was Jason who took him down. He uses his Quirk to blast himself to his feet and glare right back at the shield user. "You stupid mutt! I'm gonna put you down once and for alrrrrgh!" Bakugo begins to threaten until a long gray cloth shoots out and wraps around his chest and head, craning his head back and forcing his arms back as well, making him unable to even try to attack his intended targets. Bakugo can only struggle and grunt at the sudden restriction but he's also confused on how strong the cloth is that's holding him back. "What? Why the hell is your damn scarf so strong?" He manages to ask back towards the person holding him back.

Aizawa can be seen holding the cloth tightly as he explains, "Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy. Stand down." Aizawa threatens. Izuku flinches at the tone even though its not directed at him. Jason relaxes a little but he keeps his shield up still. "It'd be wise to avoid making me use my Quirk so much. It gives me serious dry eye." He says with a scowl.

'Too bad. That powers amazing.' Is the thought that goes through everyone's mind. The power to nullify a person's Quirk is invaluable but the side effect just outright sucks.

The man lets go of his capture weapon and deactivates his Quirk. "You're wasting my time now. Get off the field."

Bakugo scowls, glaring hotly at the two in front of him before angrily making his way back to the others. Once he's far enough away does Jason finally lower his shield.

"Takeda if I ever see you attack another student like that with that shield again then I'm expelling you on the spot, got it?" Aizawa threatens Jason with the same amount of annoyance as before.

"Yes sensei." Jason doesn't bother to argue, agreeing with the condition without question. Jason turns to his friend and smiles. "C'mon, lets get back to the others."

"Takeda."

*Smack*

A small meaty smack can be heard as thanks to Jason's training, his reflexes kicked in and he was able to catch the ball sent straight towards him out of the corner of his eye. He doesn't wince from the sting in his hand, but some of the other students do from the sound alone, as he stares at the ball before looking to who threw it.

"Since your already up there, go ahead and take your throw." Aizawa instructs him to do.

Jason looks down at the ball in his hand before gripping it tightly. He turns to Izuku and gives him a nod. The green and black haired boy nods back with a smile before making his way back to the others, giving Bakugo a wide berth.

Jason steps into the circle and closes his eyes as he holds the ball to his forehead, his own mind starting to come up with ideas for how he should throw the ball.

"Ouch. Is your finger okay?" Uraraka worriedly asks Izuku once he makes it.

"Yeah. Fine." He does his best to play it off as he gives her a nervous smile and quickly turns to watch as Jason concentrates.

"Well, if your sure." Uraraka doesn't look all that convinced but as she sees who's next she gets a little pumped. "Oh hey! Takeda is up next. I wonder what's he going to do."

"Yeah." Ashido comes up next to her, equally as curious and pumped. "He's been using that shield so crazily. I wonder what's he going to do now." She asks out loud.

"You know that's another thing I noticed." Iida speaks up, hand cupping his chin in a thinking manner as the others look at him. "I'm curious to know why our sensei decided to give him that shield to try to weigh him down. We also haven't seen him use his Quirk once since we started these tests. Midoriya I can understand with the backlash his Quirk has on him." Izuku winces as his broken finger throbs. "But I don't remember seeing Takeda use his." Izuku begins to sweat as they begin to piece together the secret his friend has.

"You know you're right." Uraraka adds. "Back during the practical exam, I barely saw him but I didn't see him use his Quirk either. I wonder if he's an emitter type and its something we can't see?" She asks curiously with a head tilt.

"Midoriya."

"Ah!" Izuku flinches at his name being called. He relaxes when its just Iida.

"You've been friends with Takeda the longest, can you tell us what his Quirk is?" Everyone in their little group looks at the injured boy for an answer.

Izuku shakes a little at the sudden attention he's now garnered from everyone. He goes to answer but stops as he remembers something from earlier.

Earlier, on the way to the changing room…

Everyone makes their way to the changing rooms, uniforms in hand and ready to change so they can find out what their new teacher wants. Izuku trails behind the group as he tries to keep up.

"Izu hold up." He stops and turns around to see his best friend walking up to him.

"What is it Jakkun?" He asks, curious to what his friend wants.

Jason stares at him for a few seconds before looking at the rest of the students as they continue on. He looks back to see if whether or not theirs anyone else behind them before he relaxes. "Do me a favor and don't tell anyone that I'm Quirkless."

"Huh? But why? You know they'll find out eventually."

"I know I know but… I want to get through as much of our time in school without anyone forming any opinions of me based on the fact that I don't have a Quirk." He slowly moves forward, directing Izuku to move as well so they can keep step with the rest of the class but not close enough where they'll be heard. "If we're going to be with these people for the rest of our time in school, then I want their first impressions of me to be me, not as a Quirkless." He states passionately.

Izuku stares at his friend in slight awe. He can see the bit of logic in that plan. As soon as someone hears about a person being Quirkless they will immediately start forming their own ideas opinions on that matter alone first. Keeping quiet will at least give Jason the chance to allow their fellow classmates to form other stances on him first than just being Quirkless.

He gives his friend a smile and a nod. "Don't worry. I won't say a thing."

Jason smiles in relief and pats his friends shoulder. "Thanks man."

The memory ends and Izuku closes his mouth. "Sorry Iida. But its not my place to tell. You're either going to have to figure it out for yourself, or ask him. Although you may have to figure it out yourself, he probably won't tell you just yet."

"Hm, very well then. I guess we'll have to just see. I apologize. It's not my place to have you divulge information on your friend." Iida apologizes and bows.

"It's fine its fine. Don't worry about it." Izuku shakes his uninjured hand to get him to stop.

"Hey look. He's about to go." Ashido states, getting their attention back to the boy in question.

Jason for his part has got his best idea that he can come up with to maximize his throw. He takes a steady breath as everyone watches him.

He tosses the ball a couple times in the air before throwing it… directly upwards.

Confusion grips everyone as all eyes stare at the ball heading directly above him. They were all staring at the ball they didn't see him as he reels his arms back just as the ball comes back down towards the student.

*CLANG*

Everyone flinches as the ball they were watching suddenly gets hit by metal. Its some of them a second to realize that Jason just basically used his shield as an impromptu bat. He reeled his left arm back to the right holding his shield. Just as the ball was about to come down, he pushed with his right arm as well and sent it swinging over his head, catching the ball on the edge of the shield and sending it flying through the air.

Obviously it's not following the distance comparable to Bakugo and Izuku but he does get some distance.

When the ball finally touches down, Jason turns to his teacher. Aizawa continues to stare down at the device, seeing the score before looking up with the same uninterested look he seems to have the whole time.

132.3 meters.

Jason gives a small nod as he makes his way back to everyone else. 'Mickey Mantle in 1953 achieved what experts believe to be the longest hit in baseball history of around 656 ft or something of 190 meters. Since Quirks started appearing a couple centuries after, the seriousness of sports started to decline and most aren't as interested anymore. I'm not exactly going to be hitting any records, but hopefully this score will continue to keep me above water.' Jason finishes thinking as he steps back to his friends and turns to his friend.

"Alright, next up." Aizawa calls up the next student.

"That was pretty cool." Jason looks to the side to see Ashido peering at him with her wide black and yellow eyes. "I thought you were just going to throw it but using your shield like a bat was awesome." She giddily states, with some of the others nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, it was the best thing I could come up with. At the very least I'm hoping it gave me a good enough score."

"We still have a few more of our classmates to go. We'll have to wait and see." Iida comment's as another student gets ready to throw.

"Yes…" Jason mutters as his focus is not on the others throwing but instead on Izuku. He can see the boy trying to keep a straight face, and a slight blushing one at that, next to Uraraka but having known the boy for a long time, Jason can tell when he's lying or keeping up a facade. He's doing what he can to keep the pain from not showing on his face and the subtle throbbing of his broken finger. Now that he's closer, Jason can see the finger is a large swollen bruise with him barely cradling the hand with his unbroken hand. "Hmm." He murmurs as he thinks, looking around as an idea begins form in his head. 'I just need some help.' He walks off to head to the larger group of students nearby.

"Takeda?" Ashido asks curiously as she watches him walk off with a focused expression. The others of their little group look on in curiosity as well as Aizawa calls for the next student to go.

Jason doesn't look back as heads straight for the first person he's hoping can help. "Hey, excuse me. Sero, right?"

Sero Hanta, a black-haired spiked downwards boy with straight teeth and cylindrical elbows, turns from talking to Asui to address Jason. "Uhh, yeah."

"Sorry to ask out of the blue like this, but can I borrow some tape? Just a little bit, like a foots worth." Jason asks.

Asui tilts her head in curiosity, tongue sticking out of the side of her mouth as she places a finger to her chin. "Oh, yeah sure. No problem." He pulls out over one foot in length of tape and tears it off before handing it over to Jason. "This good?"

"Perfect. Thank you." He nods at the boy with a smile, making Sero smile in return, before he turns right around, takes a few steps, "Hey, excuse me? Yaoyorozu?"

"Yes?" The recommendation student in question turns to Jason. Sero and Asui continue to stare at him as he makes another request.

"Sorry to bother you but can you make me a couple metal plates? Like small enough to be the same size as one's index finger."

"I wonder what he's doing." Asui asks in a whisper to Sero.

"Beats me." Sero shrugs

"Oh! Uhh, sure I guess I can do that." She still looks confused as her left hand glows for a second and two steel metal plates grow out of her palm. Once its done she holds them out to him. "Is this good?"

He takes them and holds them, analyzing them a for a second before smiling at her. "They're perfect. Thank you very much." He gives her a small bow.

"Oh no worries." She blushes a little at the small but sudden praise. Jason now takes a few more steps to the other recommendation student.

"Excuse me, Todoroki?" Jason comes up and now gets the final student he needs for his help.

Todoroki Shoto, the second student to get into U.A. on recommendations, has a peculiar hairstyle of having his hair half white and half red, the color split down the middle, with a burn scar covering the left side of his face from his hairline to the top of his cheek. The boy hasn't said anything since they all entered class and has been making even strides in the tests so far with his ice Quirk. He turns and stares at Jason, not showing any emotion as he stares at him with a passive look.

"Sorry to bother you, but could you cool these down for me?" Jason holds up the two metal plates he got from Yaoyorozu. Todoroki stares at the plates in his hand before staring back at Jason without much change to his expression.

"…Why?"

"To help my friend." Jason answers in heartbeat. "I'll owe you whatever you need within reason." He adds after a second of the cold Quirk user not answering.

"…" Todoroki stares at him still. Sero and Asui, now joined by Yaoyorozu in their curious staring, watch the exchange. "Do you know how to make soba?"

"No… but I can learn."

"… I like soba."

"I'll make you soba for a week for lunchtime."

"… Okay." Todoroki holds his hand out and Jason places the plates in his hand. When he does, a cold mist forms over Todoroki's hand and a thin sheet of ice forms over the exterior of the plates. "There."

"Thank you." Jason takes the plates, happy with how cold they are. "After school tell me how you like your soba and I'll start bringing a bento box tomorrow for you." When Todoroki nods in agreement, Jason turns around and heads back to his original group of friends, not acknowledging the stares on him as Aizawa calls up another student. "Izu."

"Huh?"

"Give me your hand." Jason outright demands, holding his hand out.

"Umm, o… kay." He murmurs unsurely and begins to move his hand towards Jason.

"The injured one." He clarifies. Izuku flinches at that before adopting a fake smile.

"C'mon Jakkun. You don't have to worry. It's not that—" Jason interrupts him by forcefully grabbing his injured hand and pulling up. "Arhhh—" Izuku lets out a loud yelp before shoving his uninjured hands knuckles into his mouth to keep himself from screaming. Even though Jason didn't actually grab the broken finger, just the sudden movement of his hand itself was enough to make the pain flare up.

"Hey watch it!" Uraraka says in worry at the pain Izuku gets put in.

"Please do not injure our fellow classmate anymore than he already is!" Iida chastises Jason with a hand chopping motion.

"Yeah yeah." Jason ignores them and takes a careful look at the broken appendage. The finger is obviously broken, all the different bone segments in his index finger are broken, how many times Jason can't tell but any sort of movement will make the pain flare up along with the dark red slowly turning purple bruising covering the entirety of the finger. Jason grimaces as he slowly sees blood start to form on the edges of his nail. "Alright, bear with me Izu." He braces his friend, which Izuku nods as Jason gets to work. Izuku shuts his eyes and clenches his uninjured hand tightly as he grimaces from the pain of Jason grabbing his finger. Carefully he takes the two still cold metal plates and places them opposite sides of his finger. Izuku flinches at the sudden change in temperature and the contact but he starts to relax at the cool feeling. Jason then takes the tape he got from Sero and wraps up his finger and the plates tightly to prevent movement from the broken finger. "There. How do you feel?" He asks.

Izuku stares at his broken finger now tightly wrapped up in white tape. While he feels a twinge of pain from the tightness of the wrapping, the coolness of the makeshift splints help mitigate the swelling and numbs the pain a little. He even tries to move his finger but besides a slight increase in pain, he can't agitate it. "It's… good. A lot better than before. Thank you!" He happily states to his friend, much to the shield holders relief.

"No problem. It's not the best patchwork but I'm glad I was able to do something. That should hopefully last while we do the rest of the tests. Just do what you can to make do."

"I will."

Uraraka, Iida, and Ashido smile at the display the two of them have, as well as Jason's quick bandaging of Izuku's injury. Aizawa simply stares at them out of the corner of his eye before returning to the task at hand: seeing if theirs potential in this batch of students.

He's been pleasantly surprised thus far on a few of them.

What follows next is the last remaining tests for them to take, sit-ups, seated toe touch, then finally the long distance run.

The sit-ups were fairly straightforward. Those with the better core strength were able to get high marks. Jason got a good enough score he was happy with with Izuku trailing behind him, not last place. He was still feeling the pain of the broken finger but it was marginally less painful with the makeshift splint added, allowing him to focus on getting as many sit-ups as he can.

Seated toe touch fairly simple as well, just sit down and try to stretch as much as you can to touch your toes. Most of the more limber students, mostly the girls, were able t get the high marks for that. Izuku's finger made it painful for him to focus on pressing forward as much as he wanted, especially when the cold feeling was starting to disappear. Jason though was able to get a fairly high score in this test, the stretching and running he's done for his various fighting styles, as well as his parkour skills, made him fairly limber in this case.

Finally came the time for the long distance run, with only a few students who truly excelled at. In obviousness, Iida was able to take the lead from everyone right off the bat as well as keep his lead for the majority of the run. Yaoyorozu on the other hand showcased her brilliance again and made a small scooter of all things and was able ride her way to first place. It cost her some time at the beginning to make the thing but she more than made up the distance. The more athletic students got some decently high scores for that. Izuku being weighed down by the pain of his finger didn't do as hot as he would have liked but still did better than a few students. Jason though, this was his test to begin with.

He didn't start running and sprinting like some students who did as soon as the signal was given. He paced himself, keeping his run steady, true and even, being careful with his breathing and allowing himself to breath the right way in the run. Eventually, as everyone started to get winded he was able to make his way past them with ease. He took the strap on the shield he had and tied it to his back, that way the weight is centered on his body and his weight wouldn't be off with some extra pounds on one side of his body. With his cardio training, he was able to take third in the test but left him severely winded after, Yaoyorozu took first with Iida second. When the run was over, Jason was hunched over next to Izuku, taking deep lungful's of air after how much he pushed himself. With this being the last test, he was able to allow himself to go all out in this run.

He was able to get his breathing back to normal by the time everyone gathered around for the results for the test but he was still taking deep steady breaths.

"Dude you okay?" Jason looks to the side to see Kirishima Eijiro, with sharp teeth and spiky red hair, looking at him with slight worry at the heavy breathing he's doing. Kirishima also possesses a hardening Quirk that allows him to harden his body to be tougher and stronger.

Jason nods at him as he straightens up a little. "Yeah, yeah I'm good. Just catching my breath. Give me a few minutes and I can keep going." Jason boasts a little. He won't be able to go as long as he did before he can still jog for a fair bit at least once he's rested up.

"Dude are you serious?! That's so manly. You ran for so long. How'd you do it?"

"Alright that's it for the tests." Aizawa speaks up, getting their attention.

"Later." Jason whispers as they walk back to the rest of the students. Jason walks up and stands next to Izuku, both of them staring at the teacher and his announcement.

"All right, time to give you your results." Jason can hear Izuku next to him tense up at the news. "I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual's score."

With the press of a button, a holographic screen appears right in front of everyone, displaying their placement in the testing that happened. Jason immediately starts looking for his name from top to bottom while Izuku takes a few moments to compose himself with his eyes closed.

Jason keeps a critical eye as he sees the names.

1. Yaoyorozu Momo
2. Todoroki Shoto
3. Bakugo Katsuki

Jason scoffs.

4. Iida Tenya
5. Tokoyami Fumikage
6. Shoji Mezo
7. Ojiro Mashirao
8. Kirishima Eijiro
9. Ashido Mina
10. Uraraka Ochaco

Jason grimaces but nods, not really expecting either himself or Izuku to make it into the top half but still.

11. Koda Koji
12. Sato Rikido
13. Asui Tsuyu
14. Aoyama Yuga
15. Takeda Jason

He smiles, glad to see that's he's not in last place. His smiles turns to a frown though as he starts looking for his friend.

16. Sero Hanta
17. Kaminari Denki

His breathing starts to become more tense amidst his fatigue as each name makes him grit his teeth in frustration.

18. Jiro Kyoka

'C'mon… c'mon.'

19. Hagakure Toru

'Please!'

20. Midoriya Izuku
21. Mineta Minoru

Jason slumps in relief and lets out a low breathless chuckle in relief only he hears. A look to the side shows his friend staring at the scoreboard in disbelief but with tears of relief in his eyes. He pats his friends shoulder, making Izuku stare at him with a small smile. Jason gives him a nod in return and his own smile.

"And I was lying, no one's going home."

"…" Both boys, as well as everyone else, freezes at the information. Izuku's smile disappears as his face morphs into disbelief, but he does feel a little scared and worried when Jason doesn't move, his hand tightens just a little on Izuku's shoulder, and his eye is twitching.

"That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it you're all in the tests." Lots of the students yelp in disbelief, surprise and a little anger at this deception. Even Izuku, who barely squeaked by, can't help but cry out at how meaningless this was. Jason for himself though simply facepalms and tries to… calm his growing anger.

"I'm surprised the rest of you didn't figure that out. I'm sorry. I guess I probably should have said something."

'Yeah, you should have.' Most of the students think in unison at the first place girls statement as some glare at her, except for Mineta who collapses on the ground in happiness and starts repeating 'thank you' over and over again while Jason looks at the girl confused.

"That's it. We're done for the day. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom. Read it over before tomorrow morning." Without so much as any other words of encouragement he speaks plainly as he walks off.

"Oh my god." Jason lets a frustrated breath of air while Izuku sighs in relief.

"Midoriya."

"Uh!"

"Take this and go have the old lady fix you up." He hands Izuku an excuse note to go to the nurse. "Things are gonna be tougher tomorrow when your actual training begins. Make sure you're prepared." He takes a few steps before now locking eyes onto Jason. The shield wearing boy tightens his grip as he stares at the man. "Nice patchwork." He comments, glancing to Izuku before walking away. "Better keep coming up with ideas with that shield of yours. It's gonna keep getting tougher from here on out."

Jason remains standing there, blinking a couple times before staring at his new sensei before he passes the corner. Now he's finally in disbelief at what he just heard. "… Did he just compliment me?" Jason whispers.

"Maybe?" Izuku whispers back unsure.

"I think he did." Jason's head snaps back to the opposite side at the new whispering voice, seeing a still familiar black and yellow eyes.

"When'd you get here?"

"Just now." She cheekily replies. Izuku chuckles at her answer while Jason rolls his eyes.

His eyes widen as he suddenly remembers something. "Hey, Yaoyorozu!" He turns around and calls out to her. She looks confused for a second as Jason walks up to her, not being subtle at all as typically might be. "What did you mean you 'figured it out' about the deception? That was a real threat that Aizawa-sensei would have gone through if we didn't have any potential."

"Uhhh, no offense, but that doesn't seem right. No teacher should have the power to expel any student on the first day, based on a single test, not after we already proved ourselves in the practical exams or by getting recommended. It just doesn't make sense so I wasn't really bothered by the obvious lie." She answers cleanly and smoothly, just a hint of pride in her tone at seeing the obvious ruse.

Jason though doesn't see it like that as he gives her a dead-pan stare, a few other students of their class now looking at the them. With a sigh, he takes out his phone and begins searching for something.

"Aizawa, that was a rotten move." Meanwhile, before Aizawa can make it to somewhere quiet for him to catch some sleep, the loud tone of the number one hero makes him stop and look to the side at the large ever-smiling hero.

"All Might. So you were watching. No talk shows today?" He questions to the yellow-suit wearing hero, annoyance in his tone just a little.

"'A rational deception.' That's cute, but you're not exactly known for being lighthearted." All Might calls the tired man out. "I read your file. Last year you expelled an entire class of freshmen students. You have no problem kicking students out. Anyone you deem unworthy. You were planning to send last place home. That's why you allowed an extra student to enter your class." All Might points an accusatory finger at the sleep-deprived teacher, "So that could only mean, you see the same kind of potential in Young Midoriya and Takeda that I do."

"… What is this about? It almost sounds like you've been in their corner the whole time." The large hero tenses up at the accusation. "Isn't it a little early for you to be playing favorites?" Aizawa begins walking away. "They don't have zero potential, I'll admit it. If they both got the lowest scores then I would have sent them both home after class without hesitation." Aizawa stops walking after a few paces and turns his head to glare at the popular hero again. "And don't think I like how you persuaded the others to allow them both to go into the same battle center during the practical exam. If they had leaned on each other during the whole test, I can assure you I would have pushed for them to not attend." He adds one more time before stalking off.

All Might stares at the man as he goes, taking note of the harsh nature the man puts up but making it so he cares in his own. But it's obvious that he's going to spend careful attention on Izuku and Jason. A problem that All Might just sees.

"Read this." Back with the students, Jason extends his phone to Yaoyorozu, having found the article he wanted to show her. He notes Izuku already left to go get his finger fixed.

She looks at him confused before grabbing the device and beginning to read, mumbling to herself a few words here and there. "… In a surprising action… Aizawa Shota… EXPELLED AN ENTIRE GROUP OF STUDENTS LAST YEAR!"

"What?"

"Huh?" Several students question in confusion at the loud outburst from the first place girl and come up to them.

"Keep reading." Jason mutters, taking just a little bit of joy in seeing the bewildered look on the girl.

She stares wide-eyed at the article as she continues reading out loud. "What most people would consider as a massive form of controversy, Mister Aizawa of U.A. Academy, who has been known to in the past to expel students he deemed unworthy of teaching, made the monumental and highly questionable decision to expel his entire group of students on the first day." She states what's got her so surprised.

"The first day?" Kirishima states in surprise.

"The whole class?!" Sero asks in disbelief.

"When was this again?" Ojiro asks, his tail a little stiff at the news.

"Last year. He expelled his entire class just last year." Jason reiterates, making sure everyone heard.

Yaoyorozu continues, "Many tried to get a statement from the teacher but as reporters tried to get an answer as he was about to enter the gates of U.A., he only had one comment to say: 'They had no potential.' Any further attempts to get answers were met with silence, ignoring looks, and a statement from the principal restating how U.A. gives its teachers freedom on how to conduct their classes to allow for better means and potential to mold the next generation of hero's." She finishes the article. Her hands fall forward, an utter look of disbelief on her face that the threat of being expelled wasn't just a ruse this time, but in fact a possibility that could happen since their instructor has done it before, and in some cases made extreme use of expelling. Many of the other students look surprised by this still.

"Look at it this way," Jason begins, grabbing his phone as he does from the limp girls hand and pocketing it, a sly smile on his face. "He said he gets rid of people without potential. We all passed, we all have potential from the strictest teacher in U.A." With that final statement, he begins making his way back inside to change out of his gym uniform. While most of his fellow classmates are still surprised by this, they do start to feel better knowing that none of them got canned.

The day ends as one would expect. Since it was the first day, the only thing on hand was for everyone to go to their homeroom and get acclimated with their teacher and fellow classmates so it was a short day for everyone, even if the students of 1-A missed orientation, they did get hit with a dose of reality courtesy of their teacher so with the first lessen down, its just a matter of keeping up with the rest of the time in school.

With school out, Jason and Izuku begin walking out of the front entrance of the school, back in their normal school uniforms and heading home. Jason had to lock his shield away in his locker so he'll have to come back in the morning before school starts to get it again and hold onto it. Izuku's finger has been all healed up by Recovery girl but its still tender with the advanced healing. So gone is the old makeshift bandage and now its wrapped in gauze but no longer in a lot of pain anymore.

"I was a bit concerned by Aizawa sensei's approach to class." Iida also joins them in their walk to the train station. "But I trust the school's judgement. U.A. is the top program." He states with a serious critical expression before relenting as he crosses his arms. "Even so, lying is downright immoral."

"You got that right." While Izuku smiles at the new light he sees Iida in, Jason just grumbles as he walks between the two, not having fond memories of what happened just earlier ago. "I can understand the deception to make us push ourselves more, but that was still a little… much."

"I concur. I hope he doesn't decide to do anymore 'rational deceptions' as he likes to call them. Otherwise how are we to trust our instructors if they keep lying to us."

"Amen to that."

Izuku smiles at the small amount of friendliness that the two of them have. Before first impressions hadn't gone smoothly but now they are on speaking terms with friendly banter.

"Hey! Wait up, you two!"

"Wait for us!"

Two loud voices from behind makes the small group stop, making them turn around. Running up them with boundless energy that the two have is Uraraka and Ashido with wide grins on their faces.

"Are you going to the station? We'll join you guys!" Uraraka shouts as they bound up to them.

"Oh, you're the infinity girl." Iida states as a matter of fact.

"Ha!" Ashido lets out a small bark of laugh. "Infinity girl. That's so true and I love it." Uraraka for her part simply scratches the back of her head in embarrassment. "Anyway, I don't think we all were introduced properly to each other. I'm Ashido Mina." She smiles widely at them.

"And I'm Uraraka Ochaco." Uraraka properly gives her name to them before looking up at Iida. "Let's see… you are Iida Tenya." The glasses wearing boy nods before she turns her attention to Izuku. "And your name is… Deku, right? Midoriya?"

"NO!" All four of them flinch at the loud outburst. They look at Jason with critical desperate look on his face before he relaxes and takes a deep breath. "No… please no. Just… no." He sounds almost tired, and not just from the exertion he did on the tests.

"Wait, Deku?" Izuku asks, almost scared at the idea of someone else calling him by that.

"Oh, well," Uraraka begins to say, still surprised at the loud outburst before turning back to Izuku. "Yeah, isn't that what Bakugo called you? During the fitness test, he said…"

"Deku, you bastard!"

"Right?"

"Ugh." Jason groans at the memory. "No it's not… Deku." He almost spits out the name.

"I thought it was Izu." Ashido chimes in. "Isn't that what you called him?" She asks Jason.

"Uh, well. My name's actually Izuku. Deku's what Kacchan calls me to make fun of me." Izuku clears the air about his name.

"That's unsportsmanlike. He should not refer a student in such a derogatory term."

"There's a lot of things he shouldn't be doing." Jason hisses under his breath.

"Oh, I didn't realize that! I'm sorry." Uraraka apologizes, making Jason smile at the misunderstanding. "But, you know what? I like 'Deku.'" And he frowns again. "It'd make a great hero name. Kind of gives a 'Never give up' kind of vibe, you know? Plus, I think it sounds kinda cute."

Jason grumbles at that. 'I can understand her trying to make light of this but I'll be damned if I let anyone else call him—

"Deku it is!"

And just like that Jason all but collapses to the floor at the ease in which Izuku embraces the name thanks to the cute girl talking to him, if his blushing bright face is anything to go by. "Are you kidding me?!" Jason jumps right back up and glares at his friend.

"Just like that?" Iida is also in a similar state of surprise. "Weren't you saying that it was an insult?"

"For like the entire time I've known you?" Jason adds incredulously.

"That doesn't seem right." Ashido adds still confused by all this,

"Paradigm shift!" Izuku pretty much ignores them as he turns around, hands on his face to cover his blushing face as he speaks. "My whole world is upside down!" He giggles at the end.

"Wait, what?" Uraraka is just now confused by all this.

"Mmm." Jason hums in annoyance as he slaps his hand on his face before dragging it down. 'For years I've tried to stop with that infernal nickname… and here he is embracing the insult like its nothing.' His hand leaves his face as he gives a dead stare to his blushing giggling friend, then the girl who suggested it. He sighs with a shake of his head. 'And to think, all it took was for a cute girl to suggest it.' He straightens himself up and clears his throat to get their attention. "Can we… can we please continue? We're gonna miss the train otherwise."

"Oh! You're right Jakkun. Let's get going everyone." Izuku agrees and starts walking with everyone else following.

"Wait, Jakkun?" Ashido asks confused, staring at Jason. "But I thought your name was Jason?" She asks.

"It is."

"That's my nickname for him." Izuku states.

"Oh! That's cool. I like it." Jason snickers as he watches his friend turn to a blushing red tomato again at the infinity girls words again.

"Hold on a second, didn't Bakugo call you Mutt for some reason?" Ashido asks innocently, much to Jason's chagrin as his smile from snickering turns to a tired grin.

"That's right. Back during the fitness test when you tackled him to prevent him from attacking Midoriya." Iida says as remembers the event. "Another derogatory term I assume?" He asks to Jason.

"Yep. Because I tend to hang out with Izu all the time, and more often than not tend to try to help and protect him from Bakugo's crap, as you know doubt have noticed and been on the receiving end of Iida," The glasses wearing boy looks down in disappointment at his past behavior to the two of them. "Bakugo has taken to calling me 'Mutt' because of it. A dog who follows his owner around constantly." Jason finishes explaining, a bit of annoyance lacing his words.

"That Bakugo is quite a character." Iida mumbles.

"Aw c'mon! That's not so bad." Ashido chimes in happily and jubilantly as she pats Jason's back. All four of them stare at her weirdly. "Not the mutt part, the rest of it. Aren't dogs man's best friend basically?"

"Yeah! Loyal, faithful, fierce companions who help keep their friends company and protect them." Uraraka states joyfully with a confident fist raised up.

Even as they keep walking, both Izuku and Jason stare at the girls in surprise at their logic. "What's with these girls? It look them less than an hour to turn the meaning of our insults into something better." Jason whispers to his friend.

"I know right!" Izuku giddily replies. "It's so cool having new friends now."

Jason glances to the others for a second before sharing his friends sentiments. 'Friends… yeah I can get with that.'

"Hey Takeda—"

"Jason."

"Huh?" Ashido asks confused when he interrupts her.

He gives her a smile as he turns to her. "Call me Jason."

"Okay, Jason," Ashido states with a smile, "But what about you with Izu?" She asks about the nickname.

"That's my nickname for Izuku."

"You literally just shortened half his first name." She gives him a deadpan stare. Jason looks away in embarrassment.

"Well I'm sorry! We didn't exactly have a lot of friends for me to come up with catchy nicknames for a lot of people." He grumbles, eliciting a few rounds of chuckling from the group. He sighs and continues, "Anyway, I kind of have different tiers when it comes to my friendship and all. For strangers and mutual acquaintances, I simply stick to their last name as Japanese culture dictates, but having first learned and lived with one of parents being an American his whole life, I'm more partial to the first name basis. So when I consider a person an actual friend is when I'll kind of switch to just first names. Lastly my closest and dearest friends I'll give them a nickname, whether its shortening a part of their name or something else entirely. Nothing exactly extravagant but it's the best I got." Small murmurs of agreement can be heard as no one really objects to Jason's system for himself.

With that round of questioning done, everyone continues making their way to the train station, talking in idle chit-chat as they walk.

"Oh hey, Jason."

"Hm?" Jason stops as Ashido calls his name, making them trail just a little behind the group as they have their small discussion.

"You know, I just want to say… I'm sorry." She tells him with a small smile.

This throws him for a loop as to what she means, "Sorry? Sorry for what?"

"About the whole friend promise thing." She clarifies. "I admit I kind of… put you on the spot during the entrance exam with being friends thing. I don't want to make things awkward or weird in that sense. So instead of catching you off-guard like that, how about we start over and start off as real friends." She gives him a close-eyed smile as she extends her hand to him. "Hi! I'm Ashido Mina. I hope we can be good friends during our time at U.A."

For a second Jason stares at her, a little surprised at the apology she gives him for her aggressive-friendshipness since they first met. In truth he wasn't THAT put off by it, but he was still uncomfortable with her forwardness of it all. His two friends, Midoriya Izuku and Kendo Itsuka, were never this forward when they met him the first time so he was just unsure exactly how to proceed with the friendship from Ashido. For Izu, it simply stemmed from the fact that they were both Quirkless and found a mutual commodity in that face about themselves. For Ken, it was because they went to the same dojo together for a number of years before she moved away, establishing a friendship bond that was both goodhearted and competitive for each other.

But Jason had never met a person as forward as Ashido was so he wasn't sure exactly how to talk to her besides a comment here and there. Now, seeing as she's being genuine in wanting to be friends and her apology, that's something he can appreciate, such as when Iida apologized for his behavior the first times they met.

Jason returns her smile with his own. "Hey, my names Takeda Jason." He shakes her hand. "I'd be happy to be your friend during our time in U.A."

"Super!"

"Hey you two!" Now that their friendship has been properly established, they look forward and blanch at the fact they are very far behind from their other three friends. "Hurry up! You're lagging behind!" Uraraka calls out with a giggle to end it.

"Crap!" Jason grunts and sprints forward to catch up.

"W-wait for me!" Mina cries, completely surprised at the speed Jason puts off to catch up to them. 'Seriously how is he so fast?!' She yells in her mind and she jogs up to them.

A few minutes later after everyone has gotten back together, it doesn't long for them all to finally make it to the train station just in time.

"Well, this is our ride." Izuku states as the train stops in front of them.

"Good hanging with you all. Let's do it again sometime." Jason says to them as he and Izuku step onto the train.

"No problem. Walking here was fun." Uraraka is on board with the idea. "Anyway, we'll see you in class tomorrow."

"Indeed! Let's strive to make our continued attendance at U.A. a great one." They all smile and laugh at the drive that Iida talks about their new school institution.

"Yeah… Oh! Jason I almost forgot to ask you." Mina quickly speaks up before the train leaves.

"Hm? What about?" He asks.

"Kirishima wanted me to ask you about how good you are at running during the tests? Is it your Quirk?" Both Uraraka and Iida perk up at the question too, not knowing the Quirk that Jason possesses and want to know too.

Jason and Izuku share a knowing glance before Jason smiles at the pink haired girl. "No it's not my Quirk. I just go through a lot of training." When he finishes, the doors close between them.

"Training? That's it?!" She becomes frantic as the train itself begins to move, forcing her to run along the platform to keep talking. "How?! What type of training?!"

"C'mon you can figure it out! You're a smart girl aren't you Mina?!" He questions just as the train begins to leave the station and Mina runs out of platform to run.

"BUT I HATE STUDYING!" She shouts in annoyance, arms flailing as finding the thought of studying for school is bad enough, she doesn't want to study her friends either. It's too late though as the train is already gone and far out of speaking range. She pouts cutely with her arms crossed, an angry hum she exhibits at Jason dodging the question.

Iida and Uraraka sweat drop at the display.

"Well, that was something." Jason comments as both he and Izuku stand in the train, holding onto the handle straps above as the train gently jostles down the tracks.

"Not exactly what I was expecting for the first day of class." Izuku tiredly states as well. While the day was shorter than what a normal school day was for them, the fact they had to push themselves hard in order to meet the expectations of their very strict instructor.

"No it was not… but I think we did learn a thing or to from it, and we made some friends." Jason grins.

"That's right we did! For so long it was just the two of us. Now we actually have others we can call friends now!" Izuku shares in the enthusiasm at the prospect. "Today was tough thanks to Aizawa sensei's test, and we both know its going to be even tougher as we attend U.A.," He carries a determined smile before giving his friend a firm look. "But at least now we're not alone! We have other friends who can help us and we can help them when we all need it. We can do this Jakkun."

"Yeah…" Jason proceeds to remember back during the test, when Aizawa was lecturing Izuku and Jason wanted to intervene. Only the quick thinking and quick words from Iida were what put some sense into Jason's head, most likely preventing him from making a complete fool of himself if he were to try to go at a teacher, a pro hero, of all people. Having new friends, even an old one if he can find out where Kendo is, is something he's all to happy to have. "With friends, I think we can."

They delve into a comfortable silence as they ride the train back home.

Wow, I was honestly not expecting this chapter to be as long as it was. I was expecting it to be pretty simple when dealing with the first day of class and all but I may have went a little… heavy on the detail and all. Anyway, I hope you all like the content of it all and kept you occupied for a quite a long time. It sure as hell kept me occupied. I was thinking of cutting it down at some point but I just couldn't find the right spot to do it.

Anyway because of the length of this chapter its going to be a couple weeks before I post another chapter. Since the next parts will contain the mock battle trial for the class, I think I can find better points to split them up and it will give me plenty of time to work on the chapters and such. Remember in atleast two weeks I should be able to upload again.

Thank you again for reading, hope you liked this lengthy chapter and hope all of you will continue to read, follow, favorite and review as it progresses. Take care everyone and have a great day for all.
