It was going to get dark soon. He didn't know exactly where he was, but he hoped it was closer to the city. He sat down under a tree, he had been walking all day. He needed the break.

The Wanderer looked at the sky, and sighed. Sometimes he doubted himself. He was just a lone samurai, after all. Could he really protect the island on his own? He did survive this long... but... the news about the new residents only made him worry. Why? He didn't quite know. But no matter what, he was going to deal with the demons. He couldn't forgive them after what they took from him...

He wasn't going to think about that for too long, though. He closed his eyes, but his mind was too crowded to allow him to sleep. It was quiet. And not in a good way.

Luckily, something soon broke the silence. It was an engine of some sort. The Wanderer, unfamiliar with vehicles, was unable to identify it. He recognized the sound from somewhere, though. The sound grew louder, and the source of the sound was visible now. He squinted in its direction. Of course he recognized the sound from somewhere. There was no mistaking it, that was Tanaka, a friend of his. The Wanderer was friends with Tanaka's parents, and he became friends with Tanaka as well. The two became especially close when Tanaka discovered his family's history, and began to view the Wanderer as a mentor. Tanaka was almost like a son to him. But why was he riding around in the middle of nowhere?

Apparently, Tanaka had been looking for him, since he slowed down as he got closer to the Wanderer. He got off the bike and walked over to the tree. The Wanderer stood up. "Tanaka... it's nice to see you, but why did you go through the trouble to find me?" "There's something I thought you'd want to know. You've heard about that newcomer, right?"

How convenient.

"Hm? I have, yes, but why?"

Tanaka hesitated for a moment. "Well... he happens to be going to my school. I found his name. Do-"

"Tanaka." The Wanderer stopped him. "I am glad you went out of your way to bring me this information, but there are more important things for you to worry about." "Oh. You're talking about Kanojo, right? And those guys..." Tanaka said, looking at the Wanderer. "No..." The Wanderer sighed. "I meant you should worry about... whatever people your age worry about. Like friends. Don't worry about me."

Tanaka looked down. "I don't have many friends. I really only have Kanojo."

They stood there for a moment, not saying a word.

"Well then... here's what I want you to do." The Wanderer put his hand on Tanaka's shoulder. "I want you to try to befriend the newcomer. Not just for me, though. You can tell me about him when the time is right."

Tanaka thought for a moment.

"Alright... I'll talk to him tomorrow." He started to walk back to his motorcycle. "Goodbye, se- er- Sam."

'Sam' waved, and went back to the tree. He was grateful to have someone like Tanaka look up to him.
