When he got out of the bathroom he realized he didn't have any clothes so he wrapped the towel around his waist and headed towards the kitchen.
He leaned against the wall with his arms crossed as he watched her make coffee. Her hair was wet and she was barefoot, wearing a t-shirt and black leggings. She looked so comfortable and in her element. He pushed off the wall and walked behind her wrapping his arms around her middle. "Need any help?"
Olivia smiled and rested her head backwards against his chest. "It's just coffee," she turned toward him in his arms and wrapped her arms around his waist as well. "Any plans on getting dressed today?" She smirked and tilted her head slightly.
"Well, apparently I get to do the walk of shame and wear what I had on last night home." He reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and quickly kissed her. Turning away to go find his clothes.
She watched him walk away and laughed. "They seem to be all over the living room and better you than me!" The coffee pot beeped behind her and she pulled a mug from the cabinet, "want a cup?" Just as she said it her phone made a loud noise.
He turned towards the noise. "No, I'm ok." He looked at her waiting to see if she was going to answer that text.
She slowly poured a cup and prepared it as her phone went off again. Who was that?
"Could it be the nanny with Noah? Maybe you should look." He was zipping his dress pants up and looking for his shirt as said it.
Olivia knew it wasn't Lucy because she had her own text sound. She carried her coffee over to her phone and turned it over.
I had a really good time last night. I know it's just the next day but would you like to get brunch?
She froze as she read it. What am I supposed to do about this? Edgar is a really nice guy. She locked her phone and placed it back down, deciding to wait to answer. She looked up to find Elliot staring at her as he buttoned his shirt. She smiled at him and took a sip of her coffee.
"Who was it?" Elliot asked even though by the look on his face he believed he already knew the answer.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?" She purposely ignored the question. How was this supposed to play out? She went from no man to two men in 24 hours.
"Was that Ed?"
He said it with almost a sneer, but it made her stop in her tracks. Did he say Ed? "Look Elliot I don't know what Fin told you about me and Ed but obviously that is over." She waved her hand dismissively as she said it.
"Over? Well that's good to know." He sat down on the couch to put his shoes on.
"That's insensitive Elliot." She walked to the kitchen in a huff.
Elliot stared after her. What just happened? Are we having two separate conversations? "Liv,"
She cut him off, "Tucker and I were complicated but I had real feelings for him and I was, I mean am, devastated by him being gone."
Elliot stared at her with his mouth slightly open. Tucker? "Wait." He shot up to his feet from the couch. "Are you talking about Ed Tucker?" His face felt hot and he clenched his fists. "Are you telling me that Ed Tucker is Noah's father?" He suddenly felt like he was going to fall over. She had literally knocked the wind out of him.
She stood in the kitchen in shock. "Who were you talking about?"
"Edgar, obviously." He croaked out. "Now answer me Liv."
"First of all, I don't like your tone. Second of all, Noah was adopted, you idiot." She rolled her eyes as she took another drink of her coffee.
He just stared at her. He couldn't believe she would ever be in a relationship with Ed Tucker. The thought made his blood boil. He tried to control his temper, he had know right to be irritated by her past love life, but damnit, he was.
"Say what you need to say Elliot. Please before you explode." She continued to drink her coffee like she told him the weather.
"After everything he put us through! Are you serious Olivia? He tried to get you fired after he got you arrested, do you not remember that? I sure as hell do, because I thought Kathy was going to leave me when I mortgaged the house for your bail money!" He paced slightly in front of her. "Now I know why he always had such a hard on for me, he wanted me out of the picture so he could make his move."
"You cannot be serious. Do you even hear yourself?" Her voice was rising with every word. How dare he? "What the hell does it matter to you how Ed felt about me? You fucking left Elliot! I never asked you to mortgage your house, maybe Kathy should have left you. You seem to conveniently forget that you were married to her our entire partnership. Even if Ed did want to fuck me then, getting you out of the way wasn't an issue. I wasn't ever yours!" She was shaking inside she was so angry. She took a couple deep breaths to calm herself. This was a dumb argument to be having.
"Are you going to continue seeing Edgar?" He made sure to say his full name so there was no more confusion. Suddenly Fins earlier comment made much more sense about the Ed's.
Olivia made a face. Of course he would ask that. The sudden switch of topic caught her off guard. She hesitated, "I'm not sure." She shrugged slightly as she said it. She really had no idea what her next step was.
"You're not sure." Elliot placed his hands roughly in his pockets. "So what was last night? Am I now officially just a booty call?"
Honestly she felt like laughing. He looked so serious. "Why do we have to define this right now?" She leaned against the countertop behind her.
"Because I am not looking for a hook up." He voice raised with his last sentence.
She scowled at him. "Damnit Elliot. Don't rush me! I didn't plan for you to show up at my door last night so I didn't booty call anything!" She placed her coffee cup down on the counter. "I don't know what I want to do. Edgar is nice, polite and a perfect gentleman. I had a really good time with him last night and-"
"And what?" He practically growled the question out at her.
"And he hasn't broken me! I have no reason not to trust him and what if I blow my chance with him and then you decide to disappear again?" She practically shouted at him. She raised her hand to her mouth. Shit! Shit! Shit!
"Wow. Just wow Olivia." He starts towards her and stopped when he is right in front of her, just in reaching distance but he doesn't reach out to her. Instead he whispers, "Tell me Olivia, do you love me back?"
Her eyes flutter up and meet his but she remains silent.
"Say something. Tell me you don't and I'll go."
His voice feels like a caress, "I..."
Her phone dings again and the spell is broken. She looked away from him and stood straighter, clearing her throat. "I don't like to be backed in a corner, Elliot, you of all people know that."
He watched as she reached for her phone and clicked the button enabling silent mode.
"You know what? Answer it. Tell him you would love to see him again." He threw his hands up, turning around to walk towards the door. Just before he reached for the door handle he stopped and turned back around. "I can't change the past. I wish I did a lot of things differently with a lot of different things, especially with you. I told you I loved you Olivia and I mean that." Then he was gone, shutting the door as he left.
She watched the door shut behind him and tears immediately filled her eyes. No! No, he does not get to do this again. She angrily wiped her eyes and unlocked her phone.
Sure. Where can I meet you?
