After three days of training, undercover dating, and unconscious happiness, Samus was exhausted. She lie in her bed, even when her newly set alarm reminded her that it was 12:35.
She could already tell that it was going to be a struggle getting out of bed.
Sitting on the side of her bed, Samus flipped open her flip phone. But then, she dropped it on the bed. Her hand shot to her side.
It happened again. The pain flood through her rib cage, but then ended.
What the hell Is that?
She heard a knock at her door.
She abruptly looked up, calling "come in."
The door opened quietly as Falcon poked his head in. "You decent?"
"Why the hell would I say come in if I weren't?"
"Fair point."
He walked into the room, looking around. His eyes then landed on Samus.
"What's wrong?" She asked as he walked over to where she was sitting, to join her.
"Nothing. Just tired." The racer yawned, stretching his arms. He was already in his uniform as if he had already been fighting. She, on the other hand was still in her PJs.
"Instead of fighting today, wanna sleep?" Samus asked sarcastically. She knew that they couldn't. The tournament was already a couple weeks away. They couldn't lose a minute of training.
"Sure." Came the equally sarcastic reply from Falcon. He leaned all the way back onto her bed. She joined him. They both stared at the ceiling until Samus scooted a bit closer to him, and resting her head against his shoulder.
"So.." the bounty hunter started, "the tournament is a couple weeks away. Do you think you'll be ready?"
Samus thought about this. "I'm pretty sure. I wish that they let you see who you were going against ahead of time, though."
He silently agreed.
Then, Samus's stomach made an unholy noise.
"Ugh.. I'm hungry as hell but I feel too tired to go downstairs." She complained, prying a slight laugh from Falcon.
They suddenly heard footsteps crossing the hallway, forcing them to get up.
"I guess I'll see you later on then?" He asked.
Yeah, who the hell else would I meet up with? Everyone here is scared of me.
"Yep."
He left the room, leaving Samus alone with her thoughts again.
She had realized something over the short time frame that she had been seeing Captain Falcon. Her insides always felt so empty. So alone. There was nothing really there. Everything she had always somehow got taken away.
But now that he was in her life more, she didn't feel as lonely anymore. She felt full. Of emotions she didn't quite know how to deal with yet.
Dammit. I hate how this is turning me soft.
But even if they stuck together, they came from different universes.. Maybe they could find a connection somehow and visit each other.
Samus shook the thought. Falcon was a busy, famous man. He would probably discard of her as soon as they got to return to their own homes. But at the same time, Samus couldn't help but think that she was wrong. She knew that she was wrong.
Falcon was different.
He made the bounty huntress feel warm inside. Something she hardly ever felt anymore. She had no idea if he felt the same, probably not.
In all honesty, Samus was depressed.
She was always alone, quiet, no one talked to her, she was cowardly when it come to making social decisions, and she sure as hell couldn't return a smile when someone gave one to her.
But now it felt like she could. It felt less quiet, Lonely, dark. She felt like she could share her problems with someone and they would actually listen. They would actually care. She felt joy bubbling up inside of her, only to be released by an enormous smile. She wanted to laugh around him, she wanted to smile. And yet it almost seemed as if he could read her mind, because at the end of the day, she always did.
God, I'm cheesy. That's gotta stop.
She felt a slight smile tug at the corner of her lips.
He never changed his shampoo.
It was growing on her.
