"Drat!" Nina snarled as she watched the group making their way past the snow-covered mountains. "How did that monster machine do that?! NO simpleton of a fairy could be that powerful to destroy my ice lions, especially not one who isn't even a fairy!"
"Stop trying to harm them!" Phoenix cried out, tires gripping the steel bars of the cage. "Your plans will fail eventually anyway, and this is a proof of it!"
"SHUT UP!" Nina roared out, sending dark fire towards the cage.
Flame held his wife back and turned around to use his wings as a shield for both of them. He didn't react as the flames lightly burnt his left wing, yet he held Phoenix tighter to indicate the pain.
"Flame, YOUR WINGS!"
"It's… fine!" Flame hissed at the pain but smiled anyway.
"Ha! Pathetic!" Nina cackled. "Any more words from you, Phoenix, and your husband loses his wings AND his magic, so if I were you, I'd be careful what I'd say next!"
"Don't you DARE threaten my wife!" Flame turned to her with a glare.
"Any more words from you, and I'll be burning your wife's wings!" Nina snarled at him.
Flame gritted his teeth but didn't say a word, turning away to protect the other from any more harm. Phoenix looked up at him guiltily before glaring daggers at the evil fairy.
Nina couldn't care any less and turn back to the crystal ball. Her eyes narrowed at each of the fairies shown as they made it past the fields, causing her to growl.
"Those miserable fairies must be teaching their friends magic!" she snapped. "THAT is how they're beating me!" She flicked her tires once more, causing purple magic to appear in the air. "Well, they won't get away this time! And I'll make sure they won't!"
She sprinkled her dark magic over at the crystal ball, causing it to suddenly flash a bright purple. Phoenix narrowed her eyes at her.
"What did you do?"
"Made sure that their world is…shaken by what I have in store for them!" Nina evilly laughed, eyes glowing gold as she watched her magic appear at the canyon the group were passing by.
Meanwhile, Blaze was leading the group over a stream through a huge canyon when the ground started to shake. This caused the group to stop mid-flight.
"What's happening?!" Stripes asked.
"The whole canyon's shakin'!" Starla cried out.
"But how?!" Gabby questioned, looking around as they all tried to balance themselves.
"I know how!" AJ pointed to the top of the canyon, where purple magic was swirling around from out of nowhere.
"Nina must be conjuring something else to stop us!" Blaze growled, already fed up with the evil fairy's obstacles.
"What Nina making this time?" Zeg wondered, tilting his head.
"We better not stick around to find out," Sparkle suggested.
"Sparkle's right," Blaze agreed. "Whatever she's making won't be any good for any of us. We better fly faster,"
"Argh, easy for you to say," Crusher groaned. "Your wings weren't drained from being used to as a power-up,"
"No one asked you to, you know," Starla scoffed.
"Not that he could help himself!" Pickle defended. "He didn't even know what he was doing!"
"Guys, stop arguing!" Watts came in between them. "This isn't really doing anything for anyone, so stop it!"
"At least I used my magic, even without realizing it," Crusher growled, glaring at the cowgirl truck. "What did YOU do to help?"
"Why you little…" Starla gritted her teeth and made her way to the dark blue truck threateningly.
"Starla, no!" Stripes held her back.
"Yeah, calm down, Starship," Watts pulled on her girlfriend.
"Crusher, you're not helping with this conversation," Darington crossed his tires at the dark blue truck.
"SHE shouldn't have shot back at me first!" Crusher huffed. "I have every right to complain about being exhausted!"
"There's always a choice to shut up, even when you're tired." Starla hissed.
"Guys, enough," Blaze flew to them with a frown.
"Oh, I'm SORRY, am I NOT suppose to prioritize my feelings?!" Crusher snarled at the cowgirl truck, both of them ignoring the red truck.
"Well, being selfish isn't helpin' us out now, is it?!" Starla shot back.
"Who gave YOU the right to restrict me and my selfishness?!" Crusher was raging now, prompting Pickle to hold him back before things got ugly. "Well, EXCUSE ME, if I wasn't selfish and I was badly hurt, I'd be DEAD by now!"
"And do ya think WE care if you are?!"
Everyone gasped at what the cowgirl truck suddenly blurted out. Crusher was taken back, eyes widening as he felt his throat go dry. Pickle was just as shocked, his whole body frozen in place as he stared at the cowgirl in disbelief.
Even Starla herself seemed horrified by what she had just said. Her tire flew to her mouth as she released a choked gasp.
"W-Wait, I… I didn't mean it—"
"You DID." Crusher had an aura of anger and darkness around him as he felt his tires quiver. "You wouldn't say it if you didn't MEAN it."
"N-NO! Wait!" Starla stuttered to find the right words as she felt herself panic on what to say next. "I didn't mean it! I… I was just mad and—"
But Crusher wasn't listening. Instead, he turned and fluttered off to get some distance from her. Pickle frowned at the cowgirl truck but didn't say anything and just turned to follow after him.
Starla felt guilty. She wanted to reach out, but she didn't know what right words to say, so she stayed. Watts could see her conflicting in the internally, so she flew over to console her.
"Starship—"
Before she could say anything else, however, the whole canyon suddenly shook once more. Everyone yelped and turned to see a group of bighorns appearing from where the magic was, with horns laced with purple as they approached the canyon's edge.
"Bighorns?" Blaze blinked in confusion.
"We can take them!" Darington grinned and dove to attack.
One of the bighorns spotted him and smirked. It let out a sound before stomping the ground, which caused the earth to shake once more. Blaze gasped.
"Darry, WAIT—!"
But it was too late. The ground began to shake, causing Darington to lose balance on his dive.
"W-Woah!"
"I got ya!" Blaze grabbed the stunt truck with his tow hook, pulling him back to safety. "You okay?"
"Y-Yeah," Darington felt himself redden in embarrassment. "Sorry, B,"
"It's okay," Blaze smiled. "Just… don't do that again,"
"How are we suppose to stop those bighorns?!" Stripes questioned.
"Bighorns can shake earth!" Zeg observed.
"We need to hit them from a distance," Gabby suggested. "Maybe if we use our magic from here without diving in, we'll be able to hit them,"
"I'll try first," Watts offered, flying forward as she twirled her electric tires, which glistened in electricity AND in yellow magic. "ELECTRIC CHARGE!"
Her electricity mixed with her magic caused the blast to grow stronger, sending a lightning blast towards the bighorns. Most of the earth bighorns saw it coming and jumped out of the way to avoid getting hit. Three weren't so lucky and were struck down in one blow, causing them to disappear into black smoke.
"Yes!" Gabby cheered.
"You did it, Watts!" Starla cried out.
"Way to go!" Darington clapped his tires together.
"Thanks!" Watts gave them a smile.
"More in coming!" Sparkle called out as the bighorns all spread out, the purple in their horns glowing in rage.
Starla looked around for something to use as a lasso as she twirled her tires around, allowing lavender magic to appear into the air. Suddenly, a rope came to her tires, causing her to grin before she began to twirl it like a lasso, which caused more magic sparkles to surround the rope.
"Wow!" she exclaimed. "It's a magic lasso!"
She swung it towards the bighorns, causing the rope to enlarge and wrap around two of the bighorns. She then pulled on the rope to secure the knot as the two tried to struggle out of her grip.
"I'll help you out, Starship!" Watts twirled her tires around before shooting towards the bighorns, prompting them to scream before disappearing into black smoke.
The lightning blast caused another earthquake. The canyon started to shake and crumble down on the group.
"Woah!" they all scattered to get away from the rocks.
Gabby flicked her hands around, prompting in pink magic as she caught the rocks and threw it back, her magic fixing the canyon in an instant. Sparkle gasped in awe.
"Magic of lightning, of lassoing AND of repair!" she cheered. "Amazing!"
The bighorns grew furious, their horns glowing purple before stomped the ground, causing another earthquake to occur in an instant. The group gasped as they clapped their wings to balance themselves.
Crusher, as per usual, was having difficulty controlling his flapping because of his wings being so large. He flapped left and right, trying to maintain balance when another earthquake came, causing him to spin out of control.
"AAAAAHHHH!"
"Crusher!" Pickle tried for fly up to help, but before he could, the dark blue truck began to glow an icy blue. "Woah… what's happening?!"
Suddenly, shards of red, blue, purple and orange flew out from each feather of Crusher's wings. The group ducked out of the way to avoid getting hit by the shards, but the bighorns weren't so lucky and were hit. Some were hit by the red, bursting them into flames. Some were hit by the blue, which made them melt into water instantly. Others were hit by the orange, turning them into stone while one was hit by a purple and disappeared into air.
The others were taken back by the power of the shards as Crusher's spinning ceased, leaving him dizzy.
"Ugh…" he groaned as he tried to fly straight to the others, even when his vision was flawed. "So dizzy…"
"Crusher, you okay?!" Pickle flew to the dark blue truck to help him get back to the group.
"Feel… nausea…" Crusher held in his urge to vomit.
"Woah, what were those, Blaze?" Stripes asked.
"Those… Those were element shards," Blaze spoke, still surprised by what he had witnessed. "Not all fairies can make those. I mean, AJ can make fire shards since he wields the element of fire, but all of the elements at once? I… I don't think so,"
"That was so awesome!" Sparkle squealed, turning to the dark blue truck with a beam. "How did you do that?!"
"I don't think he controls his magic very well," Watts pointed out.
"Yeah, I don't, so I don't know what I just did…" Crusher shook his head to clear his vision.
"Crusher make magic shards!" Zeg exclaimed. "Shards destroy bighorns!"
"It was wild!" Darington commented. "We were lucky to not get hit, or who knows what might have happened!"
"Don't want to know," Gabby chuckled, shaking her head.
"What I want to know is how Nina figures out where we are," AJ said.
"Maybe she has some crystal ball to find out our next location," Starla guessed.
"Then what we need is a cloaking spell!" Sparkle told them.
"And this time, we need all of our magic combined to make a strong cloaking spell," Blaze pointed out then he turned to his rival. "Crusher, can you focus on your magic this time?"
"I'll try," Crusher nodded as they all gathered around in a circle.
The red truck smiled then he closed his eyes and began to swirl his tires around, causing fiery red magic to appear. Sparkle did the same, but hers was dark fuchsia magic while AJ's magic was a pale orange. The others soon joined in, causing a string of electric yellow, bright purple, carnation pink, bright orange, lime green, forest green, and sky blue to meet the other strings of magic.
Crusher was hesitant, eyes not closing as he twirled his magic around. The magic that came out were dark blue, snowy white, dark red, light lavender, and light brown, which were four colors too many in his opinion, but he couldn't do anything about it but sigh as he closed his eyes, allowing his magic to mix into the spell.
Suddenly, there was a blast of magic surrounding them, but when they opened their eyes, everything looked the same.
"Uh, did it work?" Stripes questioned.
"It did, don't worry," Blaze assured them.
"Now we can get to Nina's tower without getting spotted," AJ smiled.
"And rescue Mom and Dad!" Sparkle added.
The others looked unsure but nodded anyway as they fluttered their wings to follow after the trio. As they did, Starla flew herself to the back of the group where Crusher and Pickle were flying.
"Hey, Crusher? I'm sorry about what I said," she said. "I didn't mean it, promise,"
"Psh, yeah right," Crusher was doubtful as he turned to the cowgirl truck. "The only one who I know cares about me in this group is Pickle. And maybe Blaze and AJ, but that's about it,"
"No way," Starla shook her head. "What about Stripes and Darington? I know you start to hang out with them too. And we might not be close, but that doesn't mean the rest of us don't care about you,"
"No one cares about me," Crusher muttered, turning away. "They don't even have a reason to,"
Starla frowned, but the dark blue truck already flew to the front before she could get another word in. Pickle smiled and patted her shoulder.
"It's fine, Starla," he reassured him. "Crusher's always been like that,"
"I've never seen him self-doubt himself before," Starla said. "He usually thinks highly of himself,"
"In public mostly, yes, because who else is gonna do it other than him, me or his Grammy?" Pickle shrugged, ignoring the surprised face of the cowgirl as he turned to follow after the dark blue truck and the others.
