It was the beginning of a new year at Hogwarts and Draco wasn't all too thrilled at having to go back knowing he would have to see Potter and his annoying friends, not only that he would have to deal with Pansy Parkinson again. At first, her company was bearable and he had liked her but eventually she became rather annoying, calling him pet names, following him around and acting like they were dating. They had finally arrived at school after a long 9 hours and Draco was at least looking forward to a bit of food before sleep. He went straight to his usual spot. Crabbe, Goyle, Knott and Blaise soon joined him, uttering a greeting and also looking rather tired themselves. Their quiet spot was disrupted when they heard stomping footsteps and someone heavily sitting down beside Goyle and they huffed before folding their arms.

"Hello, to you too Pansy," Blaise sighed, when he saw who it was who had planted themselves opposite him and Draco. Draco sighed internally, school has literally only just started and she was already in a mood.

"I actually can't believe it?!"

"What can't you believe?"

"My sister's transferring here,"

"And why is that bad?" Draco asked, rolling his eyes, pretending to actually care. What was so bad about having a sibling? Deep down, he wished he had a sibling, someone he could talk to about his father.

"She's so annoying... I know Mum and Dad favour her more than me and now they've decided to transfer her here because she asked,"

"When will this 'annoying' sister of yours get here?"

"In a few days with the other Beauxbaton girls,"

"Wait, the Bauxbatons girls are coming here?"

"Apparently," Pansy sighed as they listened to Dumbledore's speech. The old wizard mentioned something about a Triwizard tournament but he would elaborate another time. Either Draco wasn't in the mood, only wanting his bed and a good night's rest.

It was the next day when they arrived, the Hogwarts students gathered in the Clocktowers Courtyard to watch the Beauxbaton girls and the Durmstrang boys arrive. Draco too would've liked to enjoy seeing their visitors however Pansy was yet again yapping non stop about her sister and his mood dampened, deciding he no longer cared about the visitors, especially if the annoying girl couldn't stop talking about one of them in particular.

Later that night, Dumbledore called for an assembly and began explaining about the Triwizard Tournament although one Slytherin boy wasn't paying much attention, too busy wondering when this pointless assembly was going to end. He didn't fail to notice though, the Sorting Hat on the stool, he himself had once sat on 3 years ago and it was only when the sound of doors slamming open was when he finally became aware of what was going on. He watched as a group of rather beautiful young women came through the doorway, dressed in light blue silk uniforms. It was obvious they were catching a lot of male attention and possibly female too but Draco's eyes were too busy gawking at the extremely tall woman who somehow walked very gracefully despite her height. Dumbledore walked with her on her right side, welcoming her as a good headmaster should.

Draco's eyes then cast down to the black haired young girl who was walking on the left side of her former headmistress. She was dressed in the same robes as he was when he first came to the school. This must be Parkinson's little sister and based off of the scowl that Pansy was sending her, Draco was right. Her sister saw her though and despite the nasty look she got, she still smiled at her older sister and gave a little wave seemingly a lot happier to see her. Pansy only rolled her eyes and turned away. Draco couldn't help but notice the girl's smile falter after her sister's actions but as quickly as it was gone it reappeared as she greeted those close to her. He noticed she sent off a few butterflies herself, joining in a part of her, soon to be former school's display. One in particular gracefully flew it's way in their direction and flew above their heads and he couldn't help but smile at its beauty before watching Dumbledore tell the girl to stand by his Owl Lectern.

"And now our friends from the North. Please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and their Headmaster, Igor Karkoroff,"

The boys began their display of welcoming, showing off their skills, the whole environment a lot different compared to the girls however both showed their talents and strengths and contrasting ways. It was easy to say Hogwarts was impressed with both. Many gasps could be heard when Viktor Krum entered the room too, I mean who wouldn't if a famous skilled Quidditch Player just walked into your school.

Once the excitement had died down a little, Dumbledore spoke once again.

"Now that two of our introductions are over, we have one final person we must welcome to our school. Only this one, will be staying with us permanently. This young lady, is (Y/n) Parkinson, Filch,"

Hearing his name, Filch moved the stool and hat closer to where the girl was standing and Dumbledore picked up the hat before motioning for the girl to take a seat. She did so and as soon as the Hogwarts Headmaster placed the Sorting Hat on her head, it spoke.

"Ah, another Parkinson, I believe I put your sister in Slytherin. However, I don't see the traits of a Slytherin. You'd fit more in Hufflepuff, or Gryffindor. Which would be best for you out of those though?" The Sorting Hat thought for a moment, listening to her thoughts. 'Please put me in Slytherin'. Surprised, the hat asked;

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely," came her confident reply and a firm nod along with it.

"Well then… Slytherin!" The Slytherin table went up in cheers upon hearing the new student would be joining their house. They stood up whooping and clapping, large smiles on their faces. (Y/n) was glad they were so welcoming to her but there was only one person who she wanted to see happy by her presence and that was Pansy but said the girl wasn't even standing up, still sat down, not even looking at her. She was angry and (Y/n) suddenly became hesitant about going over to the table when Dumbledore removed the hat. She looked to him with worried eyes but he only gave her a reassuring smile, coaxing her to the table. She went over and was only met with smiles, handshakes and 'hellos' to which she responded with the same kindness and politeness. She contemplated going to her sister for a moment, staring in her direction but she noticed a boy who was waving her over. He did it subtly but she knew he was aiming it to her. He had platinum blonde hair and he just so happened to be sat with Pansy. She made her way over before quickly sitting next to a boy who was sitting to the right of Pansy.

"Hello! So you're the little sister, Pansy spoke so fondly of. I'm Blaise Zabini," the younger Parkinson let out a small laugh.

"I find it very hard that she spoke fondly of me but yes, that's me, (Y/n) Parkinson. Nice to meet you Blaise," the two shook hands and he began introducing the rest of his friends.

"This is Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Theordore Knott and Draco Malfoy," thefirst three gave a small wave as they began piling their plates before moving the boy named Draco who just so happened to be the boy who told her to come over. He was sat on the left of Pansy so (Y/n) leaned back to give the boy a smile, he did the same.

"So you're the famous Draco Malfoy, I've been told about?" before he could answer Pansy moved into view and glare crossing her features.

"Shut up, (Y/n). Why are you here? Go to the Third Year's and stop bothering us," she snapped, making (Y/n) flinch at her aggressive nature. The younger Parkinson looked awkwardly at the people who stared at her, then her sister. (Y/n)'s saddened expression turned to a frown, she'd had enough of her sister's attitude.

"Fine, but I'm done being nice to you," with that she took her leave and found another spot to sit where she was easily taken in by the other Slytherin's that sat there. Pansy only huffed before facing her plate and glaring daggers at it instead. The boys just looked at each other in awkward silence while Draco continued to look at the younger Slytherin as she chatted away to the other students. The two sisters somewhat looked similar in appearance, both had black/brown hair although their haircuts were different, with (Y/n)'s being longer. (Y/n) also had (Y/e/c)'s compared to Pansy, a shade of (E/c) that was much prettier but what made the sisters completely different was their personalities. Sure, Pansy could be nice but it was only really towards Draco because she liked him but to everyone else she wasn't exactly pleasant to, even the people around her in Slytherin she would be snappy towards. (Y/n) on the other hand was completely different, kind to everyone around her, even to her sister who wouldn't give her the time of day, Pansy's attitude towards the younger Parkinson was very baffling to him but he was sure she had her reasoning. In the meantime, it seemed that (Y/n) wasn't bothered by her sister's cruel behaviour.

Throughout the weeks, Draco had managed to get to know (Y/n) a bit more without her older sister interfering. She was always kind to him and he found himself being able to confide in her with how his father was towards him and the expectations he was supposed to uphold as a Malfoy. The younger Parkinson was aware of the snide comments and geers he would send to Harry and his friends, an arrogant smirk on his face when he had managed to rile them up but one day when he was picking on Harry as soon as he saw her disappointed look and angered glare, his smile fell before he was chased around the tree by Professor 'Mad Eye' Moody and turned into a ferret. He immediately found himself trying to find her, scared he had ruined their friendship and when he did find her, she would tell him off for his unkindness.

(Y/n) herself found the boy rather troublesome and annoying but liked his company and more so when it was just the two of them when she could see his true self. With friends or other students about, he would become this show off, arrogant and egotistical. She knew it was a front he put up, it was obvious by how he spoke of his father although that didn't give him good reason to treat people so horribly.

It wasn't long before she knew she had some sort of hold on him, it didn't take a genius to see it. His hair would be dishevelled and a panicked look in his eye when he would enter the Dining Room at dinner time if he hadn't seen her during the day to talk to her. Knowing that she'd made an impression on him, she decided to use it to her advantage to help him grow and become a better person. She knew it would take time but it was clear he wanted to improve himself.

One night, as the two spent a night studying together in the Common Room, Draco found himself struggling to concentrate on his work. The schools had been told there would be a Yule Ball in three weeks and there was a bit of excitement amongst everyone. Slytherin, being a house of mostly high up Purebloods, didn't really need to learn ballroom dancing but it had turned out (Y/n) had had no skill in it. Draco offered to teach her and she agreed happily. The two enjoyed themselves, laughing every time she messed the footwork up but she picked it up quickly and soon the two were dancing effortlessly in the Astronomy Tower. That was one thing she could tick off her list.

The Malfoy boy had been thinking about that night for a while, and he kept glancing at the girl in front of him. He knew he liked her, very much and he really wanted to ask her and for the first time, he actually felt nervous about it.

"So has anyone asked you?" he suddenly spoke up, startling the girl who was deep in thought.

"Huh?"

"Has anyone asked you to the Yule Ball yet?" he asked again.

"Oh, no not yet. What about you? Have you been asked or have you asked someone?" (Y/n) questioned, her attention moving from Draco to her notes.

"No, I haven't been asked but there is someone who I'd like to take," hearing that, (Y/n)'s hand briefly stopped writing. During the past weeks, the girl had found herself catching feelings for the older boy so hearing him say that made her fear the answer a bit.

"Is it Pansy?" she blurted out making the blonde frown at her in confusion.

"No, what makes you say that?"

"Oh well, it's just… she really likes you, and she'd be over the moon if you asked her,"

"I thought you said you weren't going to be nice to her anymore?" Draco raised a brow, a bemused look on his face.

"W-well, it was just an idea. Who is it then?" he smirked at her flustered response, his nerves had calmed enough now and so he decided he would give it a shot.

"I was hoping you would go with me," Draco said, a hopeful look on his face. The black/brown haired girls head shot up to stare at him, her eyes wide with shock and unblinking. He cracked a small sheepish smile. She wanted to, she really did but she didn't want to do that to Pansy, she knew she liked the boy a lot more than she did. She would hate her even more than she already did.

"Draco… I can't. You should go with Pansy, even more so now," Draco's face fell at her response and then panic kicked in when she saw her packing up her books. He grabbed her hand and she looked into his grey eyes, she saw the sadness in them. Was he really that upset about her rejection?

"(Y/n)! Please, don't put her feelings before yours. Answer me truthfully, do you want to go with me?" she hesitated, he could see her eyes twitch ever so slightly, he could see the conflict in her eyes and he knew what her answer was but he wanted to hear her say it. She let out a frustrated noise.

"Yes, I do want to go with you, you know I do," his face lit up and without thinking he suddenly said;

"So does that mean that you feel the same?"

"Huh?" taken aback by the sudden question, (Y/n) stared at the boy in disbelief. Draco paled realising what he had said. He had gotten way too ahead of himself.

"W-wait, I didn't me-,"

"No, no. It's not a bad thing. Quite reassuring actually," Draco stared at her in disbelief, not sure if what he heard was real or not. He scooted his seat closer to hers and took one of the younger girls' hand into both of his, leaning closer to look into those beautiful (Y/e/c) eyes and asked the question again.

"Then, if that's the case, it would mean the world to me if you would let me accompany you to the Yule Ball. We can call it our first date?" (Y/n) saw the adoration and meaning in his words through his eyes, never breaking eye contact with her. She smiled before wrapping her arms around his shoulders in a sudden hug.

"Yes, I'd love it if you'd accompany me," Draco hugged her back tightly, taking in her scent. This was definitely something he could get used to.
