Chapter 7 A Sudden New Case

"What do you mean our next case?" asked Dean as he glared at Sam again after watching the news.

"I mean what I said, after what we just saw and heard what was on the news" Sam said.

"Hey, you know Sam, that may not mean anything. It could be some sick serial killer offing off weird goth chicks" Dean replied.

"Come on, Dean, this chick they found in ditch murdered just happens to have the exact same tattoo that Chloe has. This can't be just a coincidence and I still have feeling I've seen that tattoo somewhere and have a bad feeling about all this. I know there is something more going on and I do think it's up our alley" Sam said.

"Are you sure about this Sam?" Dean asked.

"Quite sure, we can't go home, not yet at least not after what we saw on the news and Chloe could be involved" Sam told him.

Dean just sighed a bit and just decided to relent knowing Sam way be right after their long experience of nothing being just a coincidence.

"Okay, Sammy, I mean I know after our last case, I was hoping we get some rest for a while but if you're sure, okay we'll stick and around and solve this" he told him.

"Thanks Dean" Sam said glad he was on aboard with this.

"So, you want to check in with Charlie and see if she's dug anything up yet?" Dean asked.

"If Charlie found something she would have phoned us by now to let us know, but I'll call her tomorrow to see what she has found anyway" Sam told him.

There was a brief pause and Sam just had a bit of a worried look on his face and Dean noticed it.

"Hey, come on man, we will figure out whatever is going on and stop it" Dean told him.

Sam felt a bit better as he was worried about Chloe. If she was anyway tied to this which he's sure she is, he will find out and do whatever it takes to help her if she needs it, that's a giving. They discussed a little more about their plan that night then turned off the TV. When it got too late, they retired to bed although Sam had bit trouble sleeping still worried about Chloe although he eventually fell asleep. The next morning, they got washed up and changed and had breakfast at the diner like usual then returned to the motel. Sam planned to phone Charlie but before he had a chance, Charlie ended up calling him and Sam put his phone on speaker so both he and Dean could listen in.

"Charlie, you know I was just about to call up to ask if you found anything yet" Sam asked her.

"As of matter of fact, that's why I called you up to let you know I did" said Charlie.

"You did, that's great but when did you find anything?" Sam asked a bit excited now as he and Dean just listened on anxious to hear what she found.

"I found what you needed very late last night as I was up till then searching through all the books I could find about occults dark magic and I mean it was have taken forever. And then I found it in sure enough a book about lore of occults and all. Well, it showed the tattoo shape that you sent me" Charlie said.

"Okay, so tell us what it is" said Sam anxiously as both he and Dean were still eager to hear the big news.

"Okay, chill. Anyway, that picture of the design you showed me happens to be a brand of sacrifice" Charlie said.

Sam's eyes lit up as did Dean's while the listened on.

"Sacrifice?" cried out Dean.

"Yeah, apparently in the lore this was branded on people who were selected to be sacrificed by cult members who worshipped a demon called Adramalek by stabbing them in the heart" Charlie explained.

"Adramalek, that's name sounds a bit familiar, go on Charlie" Sam said.

"According to the lore, Adramalek is type of demon, some say he was a sort of a head honcho to a group of demons in hell, the head of the Satan's general council or whatever but others dispute this and say, he was a demon who broke away from Satan and would find his own group of human worshippers. Anyway, according to Jewish legend, in Ancient Israel, a group of people from the city Sepharvaim worshipped him by sacrificing their children, burning them alive. That's even mentioned in the bible. But other legends which rarely known to scholars and experts is that occult members worship him by selecting a number of people to brand the sacrificial tattoo, then when the time comes, they sacrificed that person with a knife. By doing this, it's believed Adramalek will grant them special powers that they desire and he in return will turn will feed on the human blood and eventually he will completely take over the body of the final sacrifice and in human form he will still be powerful and no exorcism will drive him out of that person's body since his soul will be tied to that vessel permanently" Charlie finished.

"Wow, this is some deep stuff" Dean said as he and Sam were processing what they just heard.

"You're telling me, but is there a reason you wanted to know all this is somebody in trouble or something?" Charlie asked.

"You can say that, I mean thank you for all you told us and we just wanted to let you know we will be staying a bit longer here than we planned" Sam said.

"Oh snap, this is another case, huh?" replied Charlie.

"Yeah, but don't you or Adam worry we got this covered" Dean added.

"Hey, do what you gotta do and come back safe bitches" Charlie replied.

"We always do" said Dean.

"Oh, by the way, would you two like to speak to Adam for a bit, he's right here" said Charlie.

"Sure, put him on" said Sam. After few seconds they heard Adam's voice.

"Hey guys" he said.

"Hey Adam" Sam replied back. They talked to him for a few moments and he asked them about their latest case which they informed him about then Adam told them about his day yesterday which wasn't much and then wishing them luck on their latest case and hoping them to return home soon before handing the phone back to Charlie. After talking a few more minutes they said their goodbyes.

"Hey, well take care now bitches, see you back home soon" said Charlie.

"Same goes to you Charlie and we'll be back home once we wrapped this thing up" Dean told her.

"Well, bye Charlie" Sam told her and soon they hung up, then he turned to Dean.

"I knew I've seen that tattoo before, it was when I was reading over one of the books in the bunker about occults and it mentioned branded people with marks who are going to be human sacrifices and now this girl who had the brand was found dead, I fear Chloe will be next so we got to work fast" he said a bit anxious.

"Hey, don't worry there, we won't let anything happen to Chloe, we'll stop these demon-worshipping freaks and gank this Adramalek demon" Dean told him.

"I hope so Dean, I can't let anything happen to Chloe and I won't" Sam said sternly.

Dean knew right there what is was all about. "You mean because of Jess?" he replied.

Sam just looked at him a bit taken back but he had to admit to himself that Jessica has everything to do with his determination.

"I know I couldn't help what happened to Jess and I have lived with that for a decade now, but I can help what happens to her little sister. I can at least be able to save Chloe this time around. And in a way I this could be my way of finding closure with Jess and getting to save a life with somebody that is close to her" he explained.

"I understand little brother, and like I said we will stop whatever is going on" Dean told him.

"Well, we gotta do it fast before Chloe is next on the hit list and we don't know when that will be" Sam replied.

"Well, we'll find out where Chloe is and keep tabs on her" Dean said.

"I know right now she would be taking her courses at Foothill college in Los Altos Hills. Probably won't be out until later in the afternoon" Sam said.

"Then we head out there in the afternoon, maybe you better call her first and make up a story, it's not like we can tell her that she's hanging out with a group of demon worshipping murderers" Dean said.

"I know, I do have her number so I call her sometime after lunch and say we are just happy to be in town and can get her lift or something" Sam said.

Dean just shook his head a bit. "You know Sam, have to wonder just what kind of weird stuff you're old flame's baby sis is into, I mean how did she get mixed up with these Satanist weirdos anyway?" he wondered.

"I don't know, Dean I mean you know some of these young folks are always into something weird just to rebel and be different, I'll ask her once we see her" Sam said.

Sam and Dean didn't do much that morning but hang around the motel room as Sam did some research on the internet hoping to find more news regarding that dead girl they found but there wasn't more information. Sometime after lunch, they two of them left and headed out to Los Altos Hills and then Sam phoned up Chloe.

"Hey Sam, what's up, I thought you and your brother were leaving today" she said.

"Well, plans changed we decided to just stick around bit longer and enjoy the vacation before heading back home. Anyway, I called because me and Dean are right here in town and since I know you're at the college right now, I thought I just call to offer to give you a ride rather than you take the bus all the way back" Sam said hoping she'd buy that.

"You don't have to do that, I'm okay taking the bus when I plan to go home" said Chloe.

"Hey, really it's no bother, I mean we're already here in all and besides I like to see you again and catch up some more anyway" Sam explained.

He heard a brief sigh from Chloe. "Okay, I mean if there isn't any trouble for you" she said.

"No trouble at all, just let me know when you're leaving the campus and we're be up there" Sam said.

"Well, my last class ends about 3:30" said Chloe.

"Okay, we're hang out here until then and head out over there" Sam said.

"Are you sure again, I mean if you really don't want to wait that long, that's okay" Chloe reminded him.

"No trouble at all, just tell me where to pick you up" Sam said.

"Um, you can wait for me at the main entrance, that's the place where they have some stairs" said Chloe.

"Okay, that's where we'll be" Sam said.

"Okay, I better get off now but thanks again Sam" Chloe said.

"Anytime, Chloe" Sam told her as and then hung up.

"Great, we're have to be stuck down here until 3:30, that's nearly two hours from now" said Dean in an exasperated tone feeling a bit impatient on having to wait that long.

"Don't worry Dean, we're find something to do until then" Sam said.

"How, what, I mean there isn't anything to do in this home of the rich and famous, I mean there isn't even a bar in this town, what kind of place doesn't have a bar.

The only thing I saw was pack of horses near some stable and I don't do horseback riding like some cowboy" said Dean.

"Okay, we'll just head back to Los Altos and find something there, then head back here when it's the time" Sam said.

The two of them left the town and drove back to the big city of Los Altos, where they hung out at the bar, had some drinks and played a game of pool, then a game of darts. Time passed so quickly for them because before they knew it, it was time to go and pick up Chloe. They arrived at the college five minutes late, and Chloe was standing there near the stairs of the main entrance. When she saw their car, she headed over to them and Sam had unlock the back door.

"Hi guys, thanks again for picking me up even though you didn't have to go through all the trouble" she said as she opened the door and got in.

"Like I said before, it's no problem, we'll headed back to the motel anyway so we'll just drop you off home first" Sam told her.

"Oh, well, I wanted to go hang out with some friends first before going home which is what I mostly do" she replied.

"Hang out with some friends?" asked Sam.

"Yes, I mean if you don't mind dropping me off and I give you directions, I know the way and you don't have to worry, Drake will bring me home" Chloe said.

"Drake, who's Drake?" asked Dean.

"He's just a good friend of mine and we sort of just chill together and all" said Chloe.

"Is he your boyfriend or something?" asked Sam.

"No, I wouldn't call me my boyfriend, just really good friends, that's all" Chloe said although the way she said made both Sam and Dean know that he's more than just a friend even if they are not officially a couple.

"So, do you mind dropping me off" said Chloe.

"No, not all but do your parents know that you hang out with this Drake and these other people?" Sam asked.

"Hey, I'm a big girl now, I don't have to get permission whenever I go out to see friends and my folks don't constantly check in on me, they know that if I get back a little later I was probably out with some friends or studying at the library, it's not a problem" Chloe said.

"Okay, if you say so, but you know there has been something on my mind and how just have to ask even though it's really none of my business, but exactly where did you get that tattoo?" Sam asked her.

Chloe's eyes lit a bit, curious to why Sam would ask her such a question.

"I just got it by these group of friends that I hang with, I mean the person who did it knew what he was doing it all, I mean why do you ask?" she replied.

"Oh, it's just that I felt that I've seen that design somewhere and I remembered it was from a book I was reading on the occult and was just curious to how you got it" Sam told her.

"You read about the occult?" asked Chloe.

Sam just nodded.

"Yeah, I'm always been a bit of a bookworm even back in college, I just can't help it, and I've been curious about the occults and just what they're all about so, yes, I've read a book about them, it was quite fascinating" he told her.

"Yeah, Sam here has always been bit of a geek like that" Dean said teasingly.

"Yeah, I remember Jessica used to say that about you too" Chloe replied.

"Oh, she did?" Sam said.

"Yeah, but that's what she liked about you, besides she was one as well" Chloe said as Dean just smirked.

"Anyway, from what I remember from the book, that tattoo you have is some kind of brand of sacrifice in some of these occults" Sam told her.

"Hey, calm down who said anything about sacrifice. Look, I when I joined this group they just had me and Drake since we're new recruits and all play a game by selecting some cards. The ones that selected cards with the letter X got chosen to be branded as with mark as the sacrificial lambs as they call us and the only thing we sacrifice is some of our blood" she explained.

"What?" Sam asked curiously.

"I mean, they draw up some of our blood with a knife, just a cut on the finger, and put into a gold cup and chant a few verses, and we do this about once every month a part of our service. That's how I got the cut on my finger. I mean it's all just fun and games, no big deal, we don't take issue with it, really" Chloe said.

"And you and this Drake go through with this ritual once every month?" asked Dean.

"Well, me and Drake only did it once, but next month I have to do it again, but I'm sure there were others who went through with it, they said that once I've been offered full status into the cult, I don't have to go through with it anymore and could get the tattoo removed or covered up with another, so there is nothing to worry about no human sacrifice" Chloe said.

Sam thought about this, and it creeped him about a bit that she would have to go through such an ordeal plus he had his suspicions that this wasn't the case and there was something else far more worse going on.

"You're your folks don't care about you being a part of that?" Sam asked her.

"Well, they don't know everything that's going on, I haven't told them and I would appreciate you don't tell them either, there are some things I would like to keep private, I just don't think they would understand" she said.

"Chloe, I really…" Sam was about to say but she cut him off.

"Please, I mean it, I don't want you to go rat on me to my parents. I only told you because you have read up about it and all and I don't take you for a snitch. Things have already been a bit tense between me and them already I don't need anything else to add more to that, besides it's my life, I parents may not accept it yet, but I'm grown and can make my own decisions" she explained.

Sam didn't like being put on the spot regarding this but, he didn't want to alienate Chloe by violating her trust, besides it wasn't really his place to tell and Chloe is an adult now , no longer the little girl he last saw her as.

"Okay, Chloe, me and Dean won't say a word, it's not our place anyway" he said.

"Thanks a lot Sam" she told him.

After a brief pause Sam decided to bring up the girl on the news last night.

"You know, Chloe, I have also wanted to mention that me and Dean was listening to the news last night saw a report about a girl in the area, who whose body was found in a ditch stabbed in the chest. I recall her name, it was Ahnika Blevins and couldn't help but notice that she had same tattoo that you have and the same area when they showed her picture, and I was wondering by chance do you know her?" he asked.

Chloe just sort bowed her head briefly and gave a look like she knew something but was reluctant to say.

"Yes, I know of Ahnika too well, we were both from the occult. She disappeared about a while ago, and nobody knew what happened to her" she said.

"What do you mean disappeared and were you two friends or something?" asked Sam.

"No, we weren't really friends, I mean we were both members of that group and she was way more into the dark magic and demon stuff and all. She was bit weird even for me. I only saw her at the meetings and all I know about her is that she just disappeared a few weeks ago and nobody heard from her since. We all talked about her and what happened and Drake thinks she just took off, I mean she hated her home life from what we knew. She mentioned she hated her mom who drank a lot and her mom's boyfriend was a real creep who looked at her funny sometimes and one time she talked about just taking off and not looking back. So, when she we didn't turn up, we just assumed that's what she did and all" Chloe finished.

Sam and Dean just glanced at each other a brief second then Sam turned back around to Chloe.

"Hey, I was shocked when I heard the news about what happened, I know the cops will likely question us all about it, I mean they already assume the worst about us occult folks, that we're crazed devil worshippers or something, and that's part of the reason I want to go over there and talk to them about it" Chloe finished.

Sam just paused again then spoke up, "You know Chloe, if the cops are going to be looking at your friends at the occult, maybe that's all the more reason you should keep your distance from them, who's the say they wouldn't have good reasons to focus on them" he told her.

"Oh, come on, you sound as bad as the cops, I mean yes, we're all into weird stuff and all but it's all fun and games and quite harmless, who don't even sacrifice animals let alone harm people. And Drake, he wouldn't harm a fly. None of my friends had anything to do to what happened to Ahnika" Chloe replied defensively.

"Hey, Chloe, I sure hope not but I still need to ask you something" Sam said.

"What?" Chloe asked.

"Do you have any plans tonight?" he asked her.

"Well, no although sometimes Drake may phone up late at night to hang out and I kind of just sneak out but don't tell my folks" said Chloe.

"We won't but I know this may sound overprotective, but I want you to stay home tonight, don't go out at all not even for Drake" Sam said.

"What for?" Chloe asked.

"I just think after the news about that girl and all, it's just best, at least for a while" Sam said.

"You know, you're starting to sound like my parents" Chloe said a bit annoyed.

"Hey, I'm not trying to be your dad or anything, but after hearing about that girl Ahnika, I don't blame your parents for being a bit cautious as I would too, I mean being another member of this club you're in" Sam said.

"So, you think there is some serial killer out killing occult members, I mean there hasn't been anybody else before Ahnika in the group that's been wacked, it could have been some sicko that she met that didn't take no for an answer or some crazy stalking ex of hers or something" Chloe reasoned.

"Do you even know if she had an ex?" asked Sam. "No, but I mean it's way too soon to say that her killer was targeting anyone from the group" Chloe said.

"Hey, like I said before, I think it's just a good idea to be cautious maybe for about a week and if nothing else happens and nobody from this occult of yours gets killed then it's fine" Sam told her.

"Sam here is right, I mean he may seem a bit overprotective, but he's got a point, it's no harm being cautious after what happened in this case and just laying low for a week or two and like he says if nothing happens to anybody else in your little occult gang, then it's all good, so I think you should listen to him on this" Dean who had been quiet this whole time chimed in.

Chloe paused to think about it a bit then she spoke up. "Alright, you guys, you made your points, I'll do it, I'll lay low as you say but only for a short while" she said.

"Perfect" Dean responded.

"Hey, I also suggest you tell your 'friend' Drake also to lay a low a bit for a while to be on the safe side" Sam said.

"Okay, okay, you know you guys are like the overprotective dads" Chloe said.

"Hey, I'll take that as a compliment" Dean said sarcastically.

"Same here" Sam added.

Then they continued to drive on heading back to Palo Altos as Chloe gave them directions to where to go. Finally, they found themselves at a large abandoned junkyard that had an old abandoned looking concrete shack. Sam and Dean both just looked at the place in surprise that this was their hangout as it look like a hideaway for teens to go when they want to do drugs, get drunk, make out and just anything they're not suppose to.

"This is the place?" Sam asked in curiosity as Dean parked their car.

"Yeah, I mean it may not be a society club but it's fine for us, and thanks for the ride guys" she replied as she was about to get out of the car.

"Hey, Chloe, do you mind if he hang around until you're through, then we can drive you back home" Sam said.

"You already did enough driving me here, I figured I'll get around with one of the others" Chloe said.

"Hey, it's no trouble besides, I'm been more curious about this club, wouldn't mind checking it out a little" Sam told her.

"Uh, well, the members really don't like strangers hanging around inside" Chloe said.

"Sure, okay me and Dean can just hang around outside, both of us want to get out and stretch ourselves anyway, then we'll just wait in the car" Sam said.

"Yeah, I can stretch few muscles for a bit and maybe walk around this little playground" Dean said.

"It could take about an hour or even longer" Chloe replied.

"That's okay, we don't mind waiting that long honest" Sam said.

"No don't mind at all" Dean added giving Sam that look.

"Okay if you guys are sure" said Chloe.

"We'll sure" Sam said.

"Okay, then suit yourselves, I try to be here as short as possible, you can take a look around if you like but you want find much here, this place is kind of a dump" Chloe said being bit sarcastic herself.

"Hey, me and Sam here, dumps are our thing, we always like to look around junk and all" Dean replied.

"Well, thanks you guys again" said Chloe.

"No, problem Chloe" Sam said.

Chloe stepped out of the car and the guys stepped out with her looking around the place that wasn't too interesting but just an ordinary typical big junkyard.

"So, where are others members of this little dead occult society" Dean said trying to sound funny as Sam rolled his eyes.

"They'll already inside, I better go in" Chloe said.

Just then another car was driving up, it was an old beat up looking car but seemed to work well as it parked near the where Sam and Dean parked.

Then a guy stepped out of the car who was skinny, dark-haired, and like Chloe was dressed in grunge attire. He looked like the cross between the typical 1990s grunge kid and emo boy with is dyed black hair, body piercings on his ears, nose and lip and dressed all in black and had tattoos all over both his arms including the same Mark of sacrifice tattoo that Chloe had. He was headed where they were as soon as he saw them.

"Oh, so this must be the boyfriend" Dean responded.

"Hey, Chloe, glad you made it, who are these two old dudes, your uncles or something?" the guy joked although Dean just rolled his eyes.

"No, this is Sam who was an old college boyfriend of my sister's and this is his brother Dean" Chloe said as she pointed to both of them each as she introduced them.

"Hey guys this is Drake" she told them pointing to Drake.

"Oh, so you're the Drake she's been talking about, nice club you got around here" Dean replied sarcastically.

"Drake, they were in town and decided to catch up with my folks since yesterday was the anniversary of her death" replied Chloe.

"Oh, yeah, you told me, that sucks and all about your sister that is" Drake replied.

"Well, anyway, we decided to give Chloe here a lift since we were around and we thought we wait around here and give her ride back home" Sam said.

"That's okay dude, I can give Chloe here a ride" Drake said.

"No, we got it, we don't mind hanging out here and waiting, besides, I may see Chloe's folks again and just say hello since we're going to be here a bit longer than we planned" Sam said.

"You know it's fine Drake, I'll catch a ride with them but thanks anyway, we can catch up some time later, anyway lets go inside, we don't want to keep them waiting" Chloe replied. "Sure" Drake said he didn't seem too happy about not being the one to drive Chloe back.

"Hey, nice meeting you there Drake" Dean replied in a bit of a sarcastic tone.

"Same here dudes" said Drake although he didn't seem to mean it.

"Hey, we'll just browse around this place and all and we'll be right waiting at the car when get down with your little club" Dean told them.

"Thanks again" Chloe said.

"No problem" Sam said as Chloe and Drake just walked in together with Drake putting his arm around Chloe as he led her inside the building as the two of them just stood by the car.

"Wow, so that's the little 'friend' he looks like he could be part of this occult freaks alright" Dean replied.

"I just hope she's alright in there" Sam said.

"Great, we got to wait out here in this junk paradise, playing babysitters for your ex's occult-loving baby sister, going to her little satanic society club or whatever you want to call it" Dean said impatiently.

"Hey, we will wait at here as long as it takes, there is no way I'm leaving Chloe alone in this place after what happened to that other girl here. I'm telling you it's too much of a coincidence that they find her body and she happens to be a member of this occult thing that Chloe's involved in and she happens to wearing the same sacrificial tattoo that Charlie told as about. I feel Chloe going to be next and if not her this Drake dude, I mean he had the same tattoo, something is going on here and we are going to find out what" Sam said.

Dean no longer looked impatient but now sympathetic. "Hey, I know you really are protective of Jessica's little sister here and I get it Sam" he said a bit in a soft tone.

"Dean I know this won't bring Jess back but at least I can save Chloe if I have the chance and we will, that's for sure, nothing else matters" Sam said and he meant it.

He knew something was going on, something bad and this occult was tied to it, especially after what Charlie said to them about the tattoo and the demon Adramalek he just knew it was all tied to this that Ahnika chick and this occult and no matter what he won't let what happened to Jessica happen to Chloe.
