They held hands. They did not kiss.
They hugged. And nothing beyond that.
More than a friend, less than a lover.
It had all happened so suddenly, both silently conveying their feelings, or at least trying to. Not exactly knowing how to express the fireworks that would explode and butterflies that would flutter about in their stomachs when the other came within their field of view, this was all they possessed. All they could have.
It exhausted her now. C.C. could not help but want more.
She could not help but want him.
Her thoughts were interrupted as her name was called out, by the voice she had so grown accustomed to, so grown to love. As she got up to stand beside the lanky figure, C.C. nearly stumbled over, as Lelouch beheld the sight and let a chuckle escape- before, of course, asking her if she was okay, being the chivalrous gentleman that he'd always been.
"Laughing at someone almost hurting herself is not appreciated.", she scowled, a smile hiding underneath its veil, however.
"I never knew you were quite so clumsy. What a rare sight.", he quickly replied, choosing to entertain himself by tousling her hair instead.
"And because I am so clumsy, I fell for you too."
Lelouch stopped in his tracks, a tremendous blush creeping over his well-defined features, threatening to devour his face wholly, opening his mouth to say something, but instead left it ajar- no words, just ajar. She really left him speechless in some situations. Honestly, only she possessed the skill to leave him in such a state. Not that he was complaining, though.
"Gotcha! As if I'd ever be so cheesy.", she snarkily smiled, the honey in her eyes merrily dancing at how she'd practically fooled him, or was she only pretending to fool him?
"Oh, god, I do wish you'd stop saying things like that."
"But it made you blush."
"It didn't."
"Did too."
The playful bantering continued for as long as both of them had the energy to not put an end to it, in the middle of which Lelouch sneakily intertwined his fingers with hers, and C.C. only tightened the grip- the icy coldness of her unblemished hand mingling perfectly with the warmth of his.
Well, it was fine, wasn't it? The way they were for now?
A/N: Well, that is it for my trashy fics. They are so short, I know. Sorry for that! Anyhow, do leave a review if you'd like to do so :)
