Chapter 7

A/N: Here is the next chapter of this fluff ball. I know it is short. Luckily, I will be posting another chapter tomorrow, so you get two for the price of one, or something like that. Thank you so much for all your kind reviews for this story. I'm so glad you're enjoying it and I hope you enjoy this one. On to the chapter.

My sister gave me two days before she called me over and over until I finally gave up and answered. I knew that her being sick was the only reason she gave me the two days, otherwise she would have called a lot sooner.

"So, what happened?" She asked immediately when I answered.

I laughed. "Wow, Alice, you just get right to it, don't you? How are you, first off?"

"I'm fine. Taking my antibiotics, getting rest, blah, blah, blah. Spit it out."

I sighed because my sister was like a dog with a bone. "Why did you decline the video?"

"Because I have been in bed for the last three days, Bellsy, I look horrible, and I swear if you don't start talking—"

"Okay, oh my god!" I yelled, a little louder than I intended. "So, I met this guy in my building named Edward, and holy hell, Ali, he is gorgeous."

"What about the neighbor? The guy who plays the piano?"

"I'm getting there, don't get ahead of me. Anyway, this guy is gorgeous, sweet, intense, alluring, and when he talks about his family, you can tell how much he loves them. First, we ran into each other in the mailroom, then on the roof, and then the night you got sick we ran into each other in the laundry room. When I was upset about you being sick, he gave me a hug."

Alice gasped. "Really? He didn't care about the lockdown and such?"

"He was willing to risk it because it's been three weeks and I was crying. So, while all this is going on, me and piano guy are sharing notes and songs, etc. This guy is intriguing, intelligent, kind, and a bit of a flirt. So, I end up having a crush on both these guys."

"Wow, when it rains it pours. Two guys." Alice said, awed.

"Oh, but my story isn't over. Come to find out, they are the same guy. My neighbor is Edward, and Edward is the Piano Man."

"No fucking way!" She exclaimed.

"Yes! So, now I'm completely fucked because I have gorgeous, sweet, intense, alluring, intriguing, intelligent, kind, and a bit of a flirt living right next to me and because of the lockdown I can't do a damn thing about it. The day we figured it out, he told me he wanted to kiss me, and now it's all I can think about. His lips look so soft!" I moaned, flinging myself on the arm of my sofa.

Alice chuckled on the other side of the line. "That's why you sound so different. Oh my god, Bellsy, you're smitten."

"Oh, I totally am. Between his words and music, I may not survive this lockdown."

"Well, let's hope this vaccine talk actually pans out. Maybe they'll ease some restrictions once they release it, and enough people get vaccinated." Alice said hopefully.

"That could take some time, though. Vaccines can go through years of testing." I said, not daring to hope.

"I can see how there may be a rush on this one." She reasoned.

I nodded. "We video chatted for a long time the other day, and I played a song for him over video. Singing and playing."

"Which song?"

"My heart is broken by Evanescence."

Ali was quiet for a minute because she knew the significance of that song. "Does he know about Daddy?" She still called him that when she was feeling emotionally vulnerable. Her being sick probably tied into that. We both were daddy girls when growing up. She was younger than me too when he passed, so I knew exactly how she was feeling.

"Yeah, I told him what happened. He kinda figured it out because I told him the stories of playing with Dad and then he noticed I didn't mention him in any recent stories."

Alice and I talked for a little longer, but when she sounded like she was about to fall asleep on the phone, I told her I would talk to her later and bid her goodbye.

The rest of the day passed by uneventfully. Edward and I didn't talk every day, so it was normal to go through the day without hearing from him verbally, but every night or late afternoon he would play something on his piano. Some days he would play one song and others he would play more than one.

I was watching TV when I heard him start playing his piano. It took me a few notes to recognize it, but he was playing Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. The song was so out of character with what we had been playing lately that it seemed like I was getting an intimate view of his feelings right now. I don't know what was causing him to be in so much turmoil, so even though I wanted to sing loud, I sang along quietly.

Hello darkness, my old friend

I've come to talk with you again

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains

Within the sound of silence

That was the only song he played that night, and when I went to bed that night, I was plagued by sadness and darkness in my dreams.

A/N: Aww, so what is going on with Edward? How are we feeling? Leave a review and let me know. See you tomorrow, ladies.
