Despite his urge to get out of bed and help Kirk find Lexie, Scotty had chosen to listen to McCoy and to rest up. Mainly since McCoy warned him that if he didn't, he would simply sedate him. Which wasn't something that Scotty wanted to happen under normal circumstances, but even more so with Lexie being taken he wanted to be semi awake. Kirk had assured Scotty that if there was any update in regards to Lexie, he would be the first person off the bridge to know. Which the Scotsman was grateful for, so instead of just lying in bed staring up at the ceiling, Scotty had chosen to fall asleep. Which wasn't really that hard for him to do, he still wasn't sure if that was due to his lack of energy or if McCoy had given him a sneaky sedative to induce it. Either way it had come about, Scotty was thankful. He needed the sleep to regain his strength, he was going to need it when they found out where Kyle had took Lexie.

Scotty was going to make him pay dearly for this, even more so if he had hurt Lexie which Scotty knew he would have done. But for now, Scotty was enjoying reminiscing the good memories he had made with his young friend. As he watched his memories play out in front of him, Scotty swore he could hear Lexie's voice. Maybe this was his mind doing this, to add to the memories. But something was telling Scotty that this wasn't like that, it felt more… real. As if she was really talking to him, "I know you can't hear me Scotty but, please come for me… Please, I need you…" Lexie's voice said. Instantly Scotty realised this wasn't a memory, this was happening in real time. How she was talking to him was unclear, but he didn't really care. "Lexie! If you can hear me, know that I'm coming for you." Scotty didn't know if she was able to hear him calling, he hoped she could. Maybe that way he would be able to give her a small spark of hope. Just then there came a sound which almost made Scotty's heart stop, it was a deafening scream. Lexie was screaming, "No! No! Scotty, help!"

Scotty bolted up in his bed, "Lexie!" He yelled catching the attention of McCoy who had been stood outside the room. "Scotty, what is it?" The Scotsman glanced over to face him, "I just heard Lexie…" In a way McCoy was surprised but in another he wasn't. "Please Leonard, don't think I'm crazy." McCoy stepped over and placed a hand on his friends shoulder, "I don't think you're crazy Scotty, not in that sort of sense anyway." Scotty force himself to smile slightly. "Thanks Leonard." "So, what did Lexie say?" After asking that McCoy watched as Scotty's eyes saddened, "She was… almost pleading with me to find her… Not only that but… she was also screaming for me to help her." Scotty was once again crying, he just couldn't stop himself. "Hey, don't you even think about it. You'll start me off." McCoy said as he sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Scotty in for a hug. Almost as soon as McCoy's arms had wrapped around his body, Scotty burst into tears. He couldn't hold them back, his body just wouldn't keep them back. "She needs me Leonard, but I don't even know where she is…" The Scotsman sobbed, McCoy hated seeing Scotty cry well anyone for that matter.

"We'll find her Scotty, there is nowhere in the universe that Kyle could go where the Enterprise wouldn't follow. Even if it's against some sort of Star Fleet rule." Now McCoy was crying, even if it wasn't as much as his Scottish friend. "The two of you are connected by much more than just friendship, the two of you are connected by a bond. One which will never be broken, even when the two of you are apart." McCoy was trying to comfort Scotty, to try and make him feel better. "It's a shame I'm not a mind reader." Muttered McCoy, suddenly an idea flew into Scotty's head. He grabbed McCoy by the shoulders and shook him about frantically, "Leonard! You're a bloody genius!" "Technically I'm a Doctor first, but to be one of those you need to be a genius. What's got you so excited?" Scotty smiled brightly at him, while he still was shaking him around. "You may have just given us the best way of finding Lexie!" McCoy was confused, what had he said? "Well please tell me what I said because I have no idea what your bloody going on about! And please stop shaking me around like a dam maraca." Scotty stopped and giggled nervously, "Sorry Leonard." "Its alright, now would you please tell me what I said to make you so dam happy?" Still with a smile on his face, Scotty gently pushed McCoy away. "You'll find out soon but first, help me out of bed would ya lad and up to the bridge." "Like hell you're getting out of this bed! And you ain't going anywhere!" Scotty just stared at him as he threw back the covers, "Please Leonard, this may be our only chance of finding Lexie." McCoy wanted to say no, but he couldn't. He wanted to find Lexie just as bad as Scotty so he just sighed. "Fine, but I'm not leaving your side." "Wouldn't have it any other way."

After helping Scotty out of bed, McCoy helped him down the ships halls staying true to his word, he hadn't left the Scotsman's side. Several times Scotty had almost fallen to his knees, but each time McCoy would be there to hold him up. When they did finally arrive up on the bridge it was clear that Kirk had also stayed true to his word of throwing orders about, since the bridge was overloaded with officers. "Bones? Is he alright to be out of bed?" Kirk questioned when he saw his two friends stepping out of the turbo lift, "Not really Jim, but he wasn't going to listen to me." McCoy asked as he sat Scotty down in a nearby chair. "Scotty, you need to rest. I told you that if there was any news about Lexie you would be the first to know." "Yes I know but I have a way we can find her." Kirk just stared at him, "We're already tracking her via the watch she wears Scotty." "I don't think he's referring to that Jim." McCoy said. "What other way could he possibly be referring to Bones?" Scotty turned and looked up at Kirk, "We don't have time for explanations!" Scotty mutter to himself as he turned to face Spock. "I want you to preform a mind meld on me Mr Spock?" The Vulcan raised an eyebrow in confusion, "May I ask why Mr Scott? I must also say that I don't believe you're in any condition for me to do such a mind trick on you." "Dam it you hobgoblin just do it! You can have a logical explanation afterwards!" McCoy yelled.

With a quick glance over to Kirk who nodded in approval, despite not knowing himself what the hell was going on. Spock reached over and placed a hand on Scotty's face and closed his eyes while asking Scotty to do the same. "My mind to your mind. Your thoughts to my thoughts." It wasn't long until Spock was completely connected to Scotty's mind, it took even less time for him to hear the young Lieutenants voice. "Scotty?" "No, it is me Lieutenant." Spock replied, "Mr Spock? Please tell me, is Scotty alright?" Lexie's voice sounded so panicked and scared, the Vulcan had never heard her like this before. "Mr Scott is fine Lieutenant, where are you?" "I don't know, on some M-class planet. Inside a large cave and… No! Let me go!" Spock suddenly opened his eyes, closely followed by Scotty. "Spock? What is it?" Kirk asked as he watched his First Officer take a step back, "I was able to communicate with Lieutenant Smith, but it was only for a short time." Scotty leapt from his seat. "What did she sa…" Scotty didn't even get to finish his sentence before he collapse towards the ground, thankfully Kirk and McCoy were able to catch him between them. "Dam it Scotty! Help me get him back to Sick Bay Jim, before he hurts his stubborn ass any more than it already is." McCoy yelled, Kirk nodded as he helped carry the Scotsman off the bridge.

For the Second (Or possibly third) time that day, Scotty woke up staring at the white ceiling of Sick Bay. His head was banging, somehow more than it was when he originally got hit. "This is becoming a regular thing." Scotty joked, knowing someone was standing beside him. "Well it wouldn't be one if you just listen to me for once in your god dam life." A familiar voice muttered, "You can scold me later Doc, is Spock here?" "I am beside you Mr Scott." The Vulcan said calmly. Scotty slowly went to sit up, "Here let me help you." Scotty turned to see Kirk standing at his bedside. "Thanks Jim." Kirk helped his Chief sit up while McCoy jabbed him in the arm with a hypo full of pain killers, "What did Lexie say to you Mr Spock?" McCoy rolled his eyes, the man had only just woken up. "Lieutenant Smith describe where she was, according to the information that she provided me she is currently being held on an M-class planet within a large cave." That didn't fill Kirk with much confidence, "That could be anywhere."

"I know it is not much to go on Captain but, it is the only information we currently have which could help us find her. I've set up the ships computers with the help of Mr Chekov to scan for an M-class planet, which is known for its large caves or caverns." Kirk smiled, he knew Spock would find away to locate her. "Brilliant Spock, return to the bridge and if you find anything let us know." "Actually Captain, Lieutenant Smith said more than just that." Scotty just stared at the Vulcan, "What did she say?" "Firstly, upon realising she was communicating with me, she asked if you were alright Mr Scott." Scotty could feel the tears forming in his eyes, even when she was facing her darkest demons Lexie was still looking out for others. "And the second?" Spock seemed hesitant to tell the Scotsman, but he chose to. "Just before the mind meld was broken, she yelled out 'No, let me go' which I can only assume was directed at her uncle." Scotty's fists were shaking under the covers, "You don't need to assume anything Commander, there's no doubt in my mind that monster was hurting her. She screamed something similar to me." Kirk could see tears clearly running down his friends cheeks, he sent Spock back up to the bridge which left him alone with Scotty and McCoy.

"How did you know Spock preforming a mind meld on you would allow him to connect with Lexie?" Kirk asked, Scotty sighed quietly, he knew Kirk would bring that up sooner or later. "Do you remember back when we were tracking Delta that time? You know, when the wee lad got kidnapped, that he spoke to Lexie in her dreams and Spock put it down to their strong bond." Kirk just nodded along with McCoy, "Yes, what about it?" "Lexie did the same thing to me, I heard her calling to me and my guess was that if Spock was able to connect with my mind, it would allow him to connect with Lexie." Kirk could completely understand that, the two Engineers shared a bond which in Kirk's own opinion resembled that of one between a father and his daughter. McCoy thought the same but of course, he knew that their bond was basically that. "She sounded so scared Jim, even more than she did the last time she was face to face with Kyle." Kirk placed a hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry Scotty, we'll find her." McCoy was about to speak when something came bolting through the door, screaming Scotty's name. Turned out to be Delta, who was currently clinging to Scotty's shirt. "Oh thank god you're still here! I don't know how I would cope if the two of you were taken again!"

The little robot cried, "Hey there laddie… You been helping find Lexie?" "Dam right I have! I'm going to make Kyle wish he was bloody dead when I see him! I'll make him pay for hurting not only Lexie but you too! No one hurts my family and gets away with it!" Delta cried angrily. Kirk was in complete shock, he had never heard Delta sound so angry before. "Don't you worry lad, you're not the only one who feels that way. But when we do find Lexie, I want you to stay on the Enterprise." Delta quickly looked up at Scotty, with the most confused look on his face. "But why?" "Kyle no doubt knows that Lexie will do anything to keep you safe, he'll most likely try and use you to make Lexie obey him. Besides, I don't want you to get hurt either." Delta wanted to argue, but he knew that Scotty was right. Even though Kyle didn't really know about him, he knew that Lexie would much rather herself get hurt than watch him get hurt. Instead he just agreed and continued to hug Scotty, while the Scotsman muttered something to himself. "I'm coming for ya lass, promise!"
