A/N: I only own the OC

You guys are amazing! Thank you for all the love!

I was sitting in my office when someone knocked on the door. I didn't have any more appointments today, so I had no idea who it was. I opened the door to see Sam standing there. We looked at each other with some confusion. He hadn't seen assigned to me, and as far as I knew that he didn't need to talk to anyone.

"Sarah?" he asked me and I crossed my arms over my chest as I leaned against the doorway. Sam and I hadn't seen each other since the Tony's funeral. We had worked closely together, but after everything happened... we just didn't talk anymore.

"Sam." I finally said and he pulled me in for an unexpected hug. I finally pushed away and motioned for him to follow me. He walked in and shut the door. I wasn't sure why he was here, but I had a feeling it wasn't just luck of the draw that he was here with me. He sat down and looked at me for a second before shaking his head.

"How are you?" he asked me and I shrugged.

"I'm here now. I was just happy to have a job." I said and he nodded. I knew that after everything had happened, the dust had settled, and they realized we weren't actually the bad guys that I was one of the lucky ones.

"What about you?" I asked him and he shrugged.

"Readjusting. I did what I thought was right, and now I am thinking I fucked up." he admitted and I nodded. I had seen that he had given the shield back, and Bucky had mentioned it to me. I knew that it was a point of contention for a lot of us who knew Steve.

"Well, what are you going to do about it?" I asked him and he looked at me surprised. I don't know if even he had thought that far.

"I don't know... right now I'm working on another mission with Bucky." he said and I nodded.

"Which is why I am here... I was hoping to talk to his therapist, but I had no idea it was you." he said and I chuckled.

"Trust me, when they assigned him to me I wasn't exactly happy at first." I said and he smirked. Bucky had always been difficult for a few of us.

"Yeah, I get that." He said and I nodded.

"So what's wrong with Bucky?" I asked him and he ran his hands over his face.

"He seemed fine at first, but now that this fuckhead playing Captain America... he's not... i don't know." he said and I nodded. I hadn't seen Bucky in a few days because he and Sam had been elsewhere doing whatever, but now I knew that friend or counselor I did need to talk to him.

"Did he seem off to you?" Sam asked me and I looked at him strange. He chuckled and shook his head.

"Alright, fine... but still." Sam said and I laughed. I knew that I didn't have any more appointments today, so I knew that I had no reason not to go with Sam.

"Do you know where he is?" I asked Sam and he nodded. I packed up my stuff and locked the door behind us. We walked to the nearest train station, and headed towards Brooklyn. We ended up in Brooklyn Bridge Park. I knew that the bridge was older, and wondered if it reminded Bucky of his past that he missed or if it reminded him of Steve. We were looking around when I saw Bucky sitting on a bench looking at the bridge. I nudged Sam and he saw him.

"We can't go like we are ganging up on him." I said and he nodded.

"You go first." he said and I nodded. I walked over and sat at the other end of the bench. He glanced at me, and sighed.

"Sam send you?" he asked me and I nodded.

"What's going on?" I asked him, and he ran his hand over his face.

"I don't like that he gave up the shield." he said and I nodded. He had told me that before.

"Yeah, but what else?" I asked him and he looked around; I saw him spot Sam. He shook his head and stood up.

"He gave the one thing that Steve told him to keep away... he's not a friend of his or mine." Bucky said and stared to walk away. Sam went to talk to him, but I motioned for him to stay back. I could tell that Bucky's fuse was short, and I didn't need a public meltdown happening.

"Bucky." I said and he looked at me as he walked away. Sam walked up a few seconds later and sighed.

"He's pissed that you gave the shield away, and thinks that you betrayed Steve." I said and Sam nodded. I could tell that hurt him. The decision was still weighing on him, and it was obvious. Sam and I talked a little longer before I took the train back to my part of town. I walked up to my house and found Bucky sitting on my steps. He stood up when I walked up, and let me go to the door. I walked in, and he shut the door behind me. I sat my backpack down, and looked at him.

"You need to talk to him. He is your friend." I said and he sighed.

"I don't like it." he said as I handed him a beer I had just gotten from the fridge.

"No one does." I admitted and he nodded.

"Food?" I asked him.

"I will pay." he said and I chuckled.

"I can cook. I have chicken set out." I said and he nodded.

"Can you cook?" I asked him as he sat at the dining room table.

"I guess." he said and I chuckled.

He talked to me while I made chicken stir fry. He would help me and keep Butterfinger from stealing the chicken. He seemed to be better now that when I found him on my doorstep. We ate while watching TV, and it almost felt nice to have someone around at night... it didn't feel so lonely.

"Are you going to talk to him tomorrow?" I asked Bucky before he left and he nodded.

"Yeah, I just..." he was saying and I rubbed his shoulder in a soothing manner.

"We know." I said and his lips curved up into a smirk. He started towards the door, but came back to hug me. I was caught off guard, but hugged him back. He was solid muscle and smelled masculine. I let him pull away a few seconds later and he smiled at me.

"Thanks." he said and I nodded. He left a few seconds later and I sat down on the sofa. Butterfinger was looking at me.

"Don't look at me like that... he's growing on me." I said as Butterfinger meowed at me.

"Fine, us." I said as I cleaned up, and went to bed. I fell asleep after Bucky texted me that he was home safe. I wasn't sure who needed this more now... Bucky to move on into this new world of him; or me to move on from the one I had known.
