Episode 7 – Unusual Duos
Previously: The New Directions finally had their members, and there was enough of them to compete at sectionals. When Amanda joined the school, Beth was angry. Will and Emma returned from their trip to Washington. Mia and Elijah got together.

Kids are seen entering McKinley High, Reo walks behind Kara and he says "listen, all I'm saying is...come out with me tonight, and you know, I'll buy you dinner?".
Kara then stops and she looks at him "listen, I think you're barking up the wrong tree, I uh-".
Kourtney then walks over smiling.
Kara then says "I have plans with Kourt tonight, and I can't go out with you" Reo stares at the two of them and he says "as in, oh wait...as in...you two? You and her, a she and a she...that's kinda hot, she can come on the date too?" Kara smacks Reo's arm and he starts laughing "I'm only kidding, but it's cool, maybe I'll ask Beth-".
Kourtney then says "try not to get your face ripped off" Reo then shows off his muscles and says, "you think she'll say no to me?".
Elijah and Mia walk down the corridor holding hands and Elijah then says "so, I was just thinking, these few weeks have been kinda crazy, I mean we joined Glee Club, I started dating one of the most beautiful girls in our school, and now sectionals is only a week away, I don't know where to start, I have to admit, I am panicking, just very slightly-".
Elijah and Mia walk into the Choir room where they see Nathan and Xander both talking, Kara is crying whilst Kourtney hugs her, Marcus is sat on a chair shaking, and Reo is sat talking to Beth. Mia then says "what is going on?".
Beth then says "everyone is panicking over sectionals, and Reo is trying to hit on me-" Reo then shouts "wait, what! No I'm not-".
Sam then walks in and he says "morning everyone, so! Today...Pre-Sectionals-".
Kara then lets out a loud scream.
Sam turns around nervously as he sees her looking at him terrified. Sam then says "right...so, um...anyway, today I wanna try something unusual, unusual duos! Now, we can't get through everyone, but I've picked a few people and what we're going to do, is pick the best duo, and those two winners will be our lead vocalists during sectionals".
Elijah and Mia look at each other.
Sam then says "so, first of all, our first duo...Elijah and Beth" Mia then stares in shock.
In their duos, Elijah and Beth stand together, Mia and Reo stand together, and Kara and Marcus also stand together. Sam then says "three men, three women, but only one male and one female can be our lead, it's time to get duoing-".
Kourtney sits with Nathan, Xander and some other Glee Club members and she then interupts him "I don't think that's a word".
Sam nods at her "it is now! Anyway, off you all go, you have until the end of the day".
As everyone starts to walk away, Mia then runs over to Beth "hey, I just wanted to ask something" Beth sighs "what?" Mia goes "mom wanted to go with us to sectionals, but she didn't wanna go if it was going to cause a scene, I just wanted to let you know-" Beth shakes her head "she is not infesting anymore of my personal life, she can stay well away!" Mia then nods at her "right, okay...I'll tell her" Beth nods at her "good".
Elijah stands in the room and he stares at Beth.
Sat in the school library, Mia looks at some books and she says "I can't find anything-" Mia turns around and she looks at Reo who is texting on his phone and she says "what are you doing?" Reo then says "I still have a reservation tonight at Breadstix, and I still have no date".
Mia then says "you realise that you could be the lead vocalist if you tried, right?" Reo then stares at her "why? I already know you and Elijah should be the ones to get it, it's obvious! You two are the only two that have real chemistry, hence why Mr Evans has put us in these groups, to try and get the people who don't talk to each other to talk! Well screw that, I'd rather lose!" Mia glares at her "you're an ass!" Mia then walks away from him. Reo looks up at her and he sighs.
Elijah sits near the piano in the Choir Room harmonising with Beth.
Beth then smiles "we sound pretty good together, I think" Elijah nods at her "yeah, we do".
Beth smiles at him until Elijah then says "listen, do you think maybe you could cut your sister some slack, maybe even your mom-" Beth then says "my mom! She is an embarrassment, she is ruining my reputation, if that was your mom-" Beth then stops and she stares at him.
Elijah slightly smiles at her, trying to keep a brave face "if it was my mom? I'd be glad to see her".
Elijah then goes to walk out of the room, but Beth then says "Elijah!".
Elijah stops and he looks at her "just, listen...you are so lucky to have what you have, I wish I had that, do you really wanna throw away your relationship with your mom? Over your reputation at a school that you're not gonna be in forever?" Beth sits there and she starts to contemplate.
Kara sits next to Marcus inside a computer room, as they do research. Kara looks at Marcus who has a small LGBTQ sticker on his bag and she smiles at him "you're brave, you know?" Marcus looks at her and he says "I was sick of hiding, it's just a relief to finally have it all out" Kara nods at him "I told Reo today, he's the first one I've told...it felt good, he joked about it, made me feel better, but I'm terrified of what comes after, the bullying...the threats, my family" Marcus puts his hand onto Kara's "I will always be here to talk if you ever want too" Kara looks at him "thanks".
Sam walks over to a door, and he knocks on it, a voice then says "come on in".
Sam walks into the room, and he smiles at Will, who is sat in the principal's chair.
Will smiles "hey, Sam...what's up?" Sam walks over to him and he says "do you remember when we all first went to sectionals? Not the first, I mean...the first with me?" Will then nods at him "you were all really nervous, it was kinda funny, but...you all wanted it so bad" Sam nods "that's why I'm here, they're all really nervous, but I don't think they want it as bad as I wanted it, or as bad as Rachel wanted it, I was wondering if maybe you could talk to them?" Will sits there thinking until he says "actually, gather them up at four at the Choir Room" Sam nods "alright, we're meeting anyway, we're doing duos" Will smiles at him "I'll see you at four".
Beth walks out of the Choir Room, where she tries looking for Elijah, Beth then sighs "dammit!".
Mia then shouts "BETH?" Beth turns around and she says "Elijah, he ran off" Mia walks over to her "what do you mean?" Beth then says "I may have mentioned something about his parents".
Mia sighs "Jesus, Beth!" Beth then says "but listen, we spoke, and I-I think...maybe we should let mom come" Mia then stares at her "wait, what?" Beth smiles at her "we only live once, right?" Mia smiles.
As Mia stands there, Reo then walks over to her "hey, Beth...Mia!" Mia then says "what do you want?" Reo says "I'm sorry, for what I said, I was being an ass, it's who I am, but I know how badly you want this...so if you still wanna work with me, I actually have a song in mind" Mia looks at him and she then nods at him "alright, what do you have in mind?".
Later on, the clock is seconds away from hitting four.
Inside the Choir Room, Elijah, Mia, Reo, Marcus, Beth, Kara, Kourtney, Nathan, Xander and other Glee Club Members sit with Sam.
The door then opens and Sam smiles until Amanda then walks in and she looks at Beth.
Beth looks at Mia, Mia then says "I invited her to watch" Amanda looks at Beth, Beth then smiles at her "glad you could make it" Amanda smiles at her "well, it wasn't far from work".
A second later, Will then walks in and looks at The New Directions and he smiles "I feel like I haven't seen you all in such a long time, and I'm glad we could meet tonight, Sam asked me to talk to you about Sectionals, it may only be the first part to winning Nationals, but it's so much more, it's where you'll realise that you all need to be a team, now I don't think I can really do much more than saying that, but I've invited a friend to come and talk to you today".
Everyone then watches as Carole Hudson-Hummel then walks into the room.
Carole smiles at all of them and she says "wow, you all remind me of the kids who came before you, all the generations, all the way back to the very first generation of The New Directions, with Rachel, Tina, Artie...Finn-".
Will then looks at Carole, and he then turns his head and looks at a photo of Finn.
Carole then says "Finn loved this group, in this group he found the love of his life, Rachel Berry, Finn was a caring boy, he cared about everyone, he helped everyone...he gave up his dreams of becoming a professional footballer and put all his time into this Club, and it made him into the amazing and brilliant person he ended up being. Finn died, but his love and our love lives on within you, every one of you has the potential to become stars, and that's what this Club helps you become, Finn became a star, maybe not the star he wanted to be, but every night, I look in the sky, and I see him, shining up there, just like he shined down here, you all have that shine in you, but it's about finding it, and unleashing it, I want you all to live and have amazing lives, and do what Finn wasn't able to do, that's how I know that he lives on, because this Club is Finn, and I know the love that both Sam and Will had for him, they put into bringing this club back".
Reo sits there looking at Carole, and Will then smiles "thank you so much for that, Carole, it was beautiful, if you wanna take a seat, I think we've got a few songs to hear" Sam then nods at him.
Reo then stands up "I'd like to go first if that's okay...me and Mia?" Sam then nods at him "sure".
(Henry Lee, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Henry Lee ft. P.J Harvey starts to play)
Reo leans against the piano as Brad then walks over and starts to play the piano.
Mia then starts to sing as she sits on the piano "get down, get down little Henry Lee, and stay all night with me-".
Mia looks at Elijah smiles at him "you won't find a girl in this damn world, that will compare with me".
Mia then looks at Reo and she smiles again "and the wind did howl and the wind did blow".
Mia and Reo then sing together "la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Reo stands up and he sings "I can't get down and I won't get down, and stay all night with thee".
Reo then walks up to Beth and he smiles at her "for the girl I have in that merry green land, I love far better than thee".
Beth then rolls her eyes at him.
Mia joins in with Reo, singing together "and the wind did howl and the wind did blow, la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Reo turns around and he faces everyone again and sings "she leaned herself against a fence, just for a kiss or two, and with a little pen-knife held in her hand, where she plugged him through and through".
Mia sings with him again "and the wind did roar and the wind did moan, la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Mia walks over to Elijah, smiling at him, and she holds his hands and sings "come take him by his lily-white hands, come take him by his feet, and throw him in this deep, deep well, it's more than one hundred feet".
Reo then joins in with her as they sing "and the wind did howl and the wind did blow, la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Carole then smiles as Mia stands in front of everyone singing "lie there, lie there little Henry Lee, till the flesh drops from your bones, for the girl you have in that merry green land, can wait forever for you to come home".
Reo joins in again as the two of them sing "and the wind did howl and the wind did moan".
Everyone in the room starts to sing along with them "la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee, la la la la la, la la la la lee, a"little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Reo then sings on his own "la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".
Mia then joins in as Brad slowly starts to bring the song to an end and Mia and Reo sing "la la la la la, la la la la lee, a little bird lit down on Henry Lee".

Everyone in the rooms starts to clap, Sam then smiles "that was amazing guys, there was real emotion in there, and that was just beautiful, well done!".
Mia then smiles at Sam, and she looks over at Amanda who smiles at her.
Mia then sits back beside Elijah, and Elijah says "well done" Mia then kisses him.
Sam then looks at Marcus "do you guys wanna go next?" Marcus nods at his head at him.

Marcus stands up and he then looks at Kara who smiles at him and stands beside him.
Kourtney smiles at her as the music starts.
Marcus and Kara stand and sway to the music.
Reo and Elijah stop bopping their heads to the music.
Marcus then starts singing "shiny happy people laughing, meet me in the crowd, people-".
Kara smiles as she sings with him "people".
On her own, Kara sings "throw your love around, love me-".
Marcus then sings with her "love me".
Marcus sings on his own again "take it into town, happy".
Kara then smiles at Kourtney as she sings with Marcus "happy".
Kara sings on her own and sings "put it in the ground where the flowers grow".
Marcus then sings "gold and silver shine".
Marcus and Kara both stand dancing together.
Marcus then sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara then sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Marcus then sings "shiny happy people laughing, everyone around".
Marcus and Kara then sing together "love them, love them".
Kara walks over to Kourtney and she smiles, and takes her hands, pulling her up "put it in your hands, take it, take it, there's no time to cry, happy, happy, put it in your heart where tomorrow shines".
Everyone in the room starts to look at each other confused.
Marcus then sings "gold and silver shine".
Marcus smiles at Kara and sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara, who is dancing with Kourtney, sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Marcus looks down at his bad, and at his LGBTQ sticker and he smiles "shiny happy people laughing".
Everyone starts to sway back to the music.
Sam then smiles as Will smiles at him.
Will then sings "whoa, here we go".
Marcus then smiles again and sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara and Kourtney stand holding hands and Kara sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Marcus walks over to them and he holds Kara's other and he sings "shiny happy people laughing".
Elijah and Mia then hold hands as they walk over to them and they join them in holding hands.
Marcus smiles at Elijah and sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara then smiles as Mia smiles at her and Kara sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Marcus then sings again "shiny happy people laughing".
Reo then looks at Beth, Beth sits there staring at him but she then rolls her eyes as she offers him her hand. Reo smiles and him and Beth join Marcus, Kara, Elijah, Mia, and Kourtney in holding hands.
Marcus smiles at the two of them and sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara then sings "shiny happy people holding hands".
Xander and Nathan, and all the other Glee Club Members walk over holding hands.
Marcus sings "shiny happy people laughing".
Marcus and Kara then sing together "shiny happy people holding hands".
Kara sings "people, happy people".
Marcus then sings "shiny happy people holding hands, people, happy people".
Marcus and Kara then finally sing "shiny happy people holding hands, people, happy people".

Everyone then joins up and into a group hug. And they all start jumping around as they hug.
Sam smiles at the two of them, and Carole taps Sam on the back "you did good with them, he'd be proud" Sam smiles at her "that means a lot, thank you" Carole smiles at him.
Sam then says "alright guys, break it up, we still have one last duo".
Amanda then looks over at Beth who stands there nodding at Sam.
As everyone is sat back down, Elijah stands next to the piano beside Beth. Beth then looks at Amanda, then at Mia, then back at Sam and she says "so, this song is supposed to be an apology, I know I'm hard to work with sometimes, and I know I put my reputation in front of everything else most of the time, but today that stops" Elijah smiles at Beth.
Amanda, who sits near Mia then whispers "he's a good one that Elijah, should keep him".
Mia then looks at her and she smiles "well, he sorted out Beth" Amanda nods at her.
(Complicated, Avril Lavigne starts to play)
As The Band starts to play, Elijah, who is leaning against the piano starts to sing "chill out, what ya yellin' for? Lay back, it's all been done before, and if, you could only let it be, you will see".
Elijah moves away from the piano, standing in the middle of the room and he sings "I like you the way you are when we're driving in your car, and you're talking to me one on one, but you become".
Beth then belts out "somebody else, 'round everyone else, you're watching your back like you can't relax, you try to be cool, you look like a fool to me".
Elijah then smiles and shouts "tell me!".
Beth smiles and she looks at Elijah as the two of them sing " why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else, gets me frustrated, life's like this, you, and you fall, and you crawl, and you break, and you take what you get, and you turn it into, honesty and promise me I'm never gonna find you faking".
Elijah then sings on his own "no, no, no".
Beth steps into the middle of the room, in front of everyone, and she looks at Amanda, then Mia, but then back at everyone as she sings on her own "you come over unannounced, dressed up like you're somethin' else, where you are and where it's at you see, you're making me".
Beth then watches as Kourtney, Kara, Xander and some of the other Glee Club Members start to join in and dance with him "laugh out when you strike your pose, , take off all your preppy clothes, you know you're not fooling anyone when you become".
Elijah smiles as he joins in with them dancing "somebody else, 'round everyone else, you're watching your back like you can't relax, you try to be cool, you look like a fool to me".
Beth smiles at Elijah "tell me".
Mia then runs over and she starts to dance with Elijah.
Elijah and Beth start to sing together again "why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else, gets me frustrated, life's like this, you-".

Everyone starts applauding them and Will shakes his head "wow, Elijah! Your voice is amazing!" Elijah then smiles "thanks Mr Schue" Will smiles at Sam and he nods.
Sam looks at everyone who's clapping for them "well, I think we've found our two leads for Sectionals!".
Mia looks over Sam heartbroken.
Elijah smiles at Sam, but he then looks at Mia who is standing there upset.
