Summary:

Asuka and Shinji are woken up by their distressed daughter who has lost her favourite doll Kiko.

"Missing Kiko"

"MAMA, PAPA WAKE UP!"

Both Asuka and Shinji were jolted awake at the sound of their crying daughter, who also jumped on their bed and unfortunately landed hard on Shinji's chest. After a few seconds to rid the sleep from their eyes (as well as a minute for Shinji to recover from the chest pain) the two parents knew this wasn't the usual wake up call from Aki as the little girl was clearly in distress judging from the tears in her eyes.

Asuka instantly went to hug and hold her daughter close to comfort the upset child. "Oh Schätzchen what's wrong?" Shinji, also worried, did his best by rubbing Aki's back as well as rocking her in a attempt to comforting her.

Aki who had her head buried in her mother's bosom finally looked up at her mother, sniffing. "I can't find Kiko Mama."

Knowing the cause of the little girl's distress Shinji let out a big sigh. "Oh is that all?"

This comment earned him a mighty death glare from his wife, making him instantly shut up and regret saying it as ever since Aki first had the doll, it became his daughter's most valuable possession and unlike many other toys Aki has played with and gotten bored off over time, she had never left Kiko out of her sight.

Asuka looked back down at her crying daughter before getting up and walking out of the bedroom with Shinji in toll. "Hey hey don't worry I'm sure Kiko is around somewhere. Are you certain that you had her with you last night?"

Aki nodded at this question. She clearly remembered going to bed with with Kiko

Upon arriving in the girls room Shinji grimace at the state and disarray of Aki's room. Again he is reminded that Aki is indeed her mother's daughter given the mess of discarded old clothes, toys and pictures both old and new littered around the small room. It was no surprise to him that Aki could have lost Kiko within this.

It turns out after a long thirty minutes of turning the young girls room upside down (as well as Shinji properly cleaning and putting her things neatly while searching) that Kiko wasn't in Aki's room, much to the disappointment of all three occupants, especially Aki who was becoming more distressed and panicking over the possibility of forever losing her favourite possession.

Both Asuka and Shinji hated seeing their daughter like this. Aki was always a natural happy go lucky child and her smile alone was such a ray of sunshine that both parents wish to never stop seeing on her face. Asuka needed to find Kiko now.

"Shinji!" Shouted Asuka like a drill sergeant which instantly got her husband's attention.

"Umm Yes?"

"I'll check outside around the house and garden, maybe Aki lost Kiko somewhere there. You start searching every room in the house! You check every corner of every room, turn over the furniture if you have too, check upstairs and even the attic too."

Shinji was confused on the last one as he knows that Kiko wouldn't be up there nor has Aki herself ever been up there before. "But Asuka, surly Kiko wouldn't be up…" Shinji tried to finish saying but a glare from Asuka cut him off there.

Growling at him. "No buts Baka!"

Sighing Shinji knew he was in for a long day. "Yes dear."

Having given her husband his task, Asuka and Aki began looking outside the house and started looking in the most likely places Aki could have misplaced her doll like the veranda, the garden, the chicken coop, the shed, the garage and even the roof of the house.

After exhausting all places outside, both mother and daughter still didn't find Kiko and went back inside to help Shinji in his search. Having looked and turned every room inside out and having spent the majority of the morning and early afternoon searching, things began looking hopeless and Aki looked like she was about to burst into new tears as the fear of never seeing Kiko began to dawn on the girl.

Both Asuka and Shinji kept reassuring Aki that they wouldn't stop searching and that they would find Kiko but the family needed a break as all of them throughout the search had skipped breakfast and were all pretty hungry but they first needed to all freshen up too as all three were covered in dust, dirt and all kinds of filth from looking all over.

Shinji went into the washroom and upon opening the cupboard doors to get the towels and washcloths he saw Kiko staring back at him. Shinji just stood there flabbergasted, all the hard searching he and his family had done, looking in the most likely places where Aki could have misplaced her doll for only to find it here in the washroom.

Feeling relieved that the search was finally over, Shinji returned to the kitchen with Kiko in hand and seeing Asuka and Aki with her back turned to him, Shinji wanted to surprise his daughter. Using his other hand he covered Aki's eyes surprising her.

"Aki guess who I finally found?" Said Shinji with Aki's gaping in joy.

"KIKO!" Aki turned around and grabbed Kiko from Shinji's other hand before hugging the doll tightly in her arms.

Asuka let out a heavy sigh. "Oh Gott sei Dank im Himmel, where was she Shinji?" Asuka asked.

"I found her in the washroom cupboard." Replied Shinji.

"In there!? What was she doing in there?" Asked a clearly confused Asuka.

Shinji was just as confused as she was. "I don't know, she was in the top cupboard so there's no way Aki could have put her there unless one of….." Shinji trailed off as it finally hit him.

Asuka was confused on why Shinji stopped. "What is it?"

To her and Aki's surprise Shinji ended up slapping his hand on his head. "Oh man I remember now. The night before I noticed that Kiko was dirty, so when Aki was finally asleep I grabbed Kiko to clean her up and after doing so I was about to put her back I remembered you surprised me and we err…" Shinji trailed off again blushing bright red while nervously looking at a confused Aki. In this moment Asuka understood why as she too also remembered the night before while also equally blushing.

She recalled that she was feeling a bit frisky that night and surprised Shinji in the washroom after he finished putting Aki to bed, and their kisses ended up leading to a rare night of lust and passion.

So in all the two parents realised that the fault was on them but Asuka didn't wish to be the bad guy in this and made the decision to throw Shinji under the bus.

"So in all this was all your fault Baka." Asuka said accusingly. Shinji threw a look of slight betrayal at his wife.

Aki looked at her father with a similar mean glare like her mother. "Yeah it's your fault Papa."

Knowing that he can't win this and that technically this whole thing did start with him taking Kiko, he conceded and hung his head in defeat.

"Ok ok I'm sorry."

"Well saying sorry isn't good enough to forgive you Baka." Asuka said before turning to her daughter with a smirk. "What do you think Schätzchen, would Papa making his famous ramen noodle recipe be enough for us to forgive him?"

Playing along with her mother and getting the chance to have special meal later nodded in excitement. "Yeah and I want a bigger portion then normal Papa!"

Shinji was ok with this arrangement/punishment as he overall didn't mind making it, feeling that the girls had more than earned having a special meal.

End.
