"Dad, you can barely catch your breath? Are you sure you are okay?" Kristina nervously asked Sonny.
"I'm fine. Just a little... pain in my chest. It'll go away. It's probably... just a small panic attack. Nothing to be... worried about," Sonny replied weakly.
Kristina looked unsure at Sonny's answer. "Just stay here and rest for as long as they let you."
"But I need... to stop.. these thugs." Sonny clutches his chest and groans in pain.
"Dad!"
Sonny continues to groan in agony.
"Dad! Stay with me! Somebody help! Help!" Kristina yells as she attempts to help and comfort her father.
"Here. This is going to be your new home for a while," Cyrus said to Trina as he knocked on the back room's door.
The door swung open and Number Two appeared.
"I brought you someone else to watch. This one doesn't get touched. Understand me?" Cyrus sternly said.
Number Two nodded and moved from the doorway to allow Trina inside. Number Two locked and closed the door behind them. "Welcome to your new home for a while. Don't mind her," he said as he pointed towards the corner of the room.
"Oh my God! Ava!" Trina ran over to Ava.
Ava's eyes were closed and she had severe bruises forming around her neck.
"AVA! Can you hear me? Ava, open your eyes! Ava!" Trina begged as she checked for a pulse.
"She's dead," Number Two replied coldly.
"Ava!" Trina cried. "Why? Why did you kill her?"
"She didn't listen," Number Two shrugged.
"Ava…" Trina whispered as she hugged Ava's cold body.
"We have to rattle these guys. They don't seem in a rush to make any deals," Mad said to Jordan, Robert, and Anna.
"Is there anyone close to them out here that we can use as some sort of bait?" Anna asked.
"Maxie's inside, Ava's inside, and Laura's inside. All three's achilles heels. I mean, there's Martin and Kevin, but I don't think Ryan and Cyrus care that much about them," Jordan replied.
"If we can't convince them to let all the hostages go, we at least need to convince them to allow Emma to have some type of help. Peter did seem to listen once Robert said he could get the death penalty," Mac said.
"Next time one of them calls, we need to see if giving Emma help is a weak spot. Or else…" replied Anna.
"Or else what?" Jordan asked.
"You will have to send in SWAT and the cops. This can't go on for much longer."
"I have an idea!" Robert announced.
"What?" all three replied.
"It's not to get the hostages out. I don't know how to do that. But I may have an idea on how to save Emma."
"Go on," Mac said.
Robert explained, "Lucas is at the hospital. TJ is too fired up for this. But Kevin is here. He may be a shrink but he's gone to med school. We have him go up to the door and broker some kind of deal. He can use his shrinky stuff to talk these guys into some sense. Our best chance is they let him in to operate."
"Our worst?" Anna asked.
"Denying any type of deal."
"Jason!" Carly shrieked when she saw him and Spinelli approaching.
Carly ran into his arms. "What the hell is going on? Mac and Jordan won't say anything!"
Jason said, "Cyrus, Peter August, and Ryan Chamberlain broke out of Pentonville. They are the ones holding the lobby hostage right now."
"Oh my god! You have to go in there. Sonny! Michael! My mom! They are all in there!" Carly exclaimed.
Jason winced at Carly's mention of Bobbie.
"What? What aren't you telling me, Jason?"
Jason shook his head. "Carly, Spinelli was able to hack into the security camera. He saw some victims. Dead victims…"
Carly gasped. "It's Sonny, isn't it? He's dead…."
Jason shook his head. "No. Not Sonny."
"Then, who Jason? Don't tell me Michael died. Please don't," Carly begged.
"Last we checked, Michael was alive," Jason grasped Carly's hands. "Carly, your mother is one of the victims. Bobbie's dead."
Tears formed in Carly's eyes as she shook her head. "No. No. No. No. Not my mom! Not my mom!" Carly sobbed. Her knees gave out. Jason caught her and held her on the ground.
"I'm so sorry," Jason muttered into Carly's ears over her sobs.
"You need... to get out... of here," Sonny gasped.
"No! Dad, I'm staying with you. HELP!" Kristina yelled.
'Listen... If you get out... of here, and I believe ...you can, you can... save us all," Sonny replied with short breaths.
Kristina nodded and ran to the door. When she tossed it open, one of the Numbers' goons was standing guard with a gun.
"What?" the goon demanded.
"My father is sick! He says it's a panic attack but I think he's wrong! He's probably having a heart attack! He needs help!" Kristina explained.
"Too bad," the goon replied and shut the door on Kristina.
"DAMN IT!" Kristina pounded the door.
"Kristina… calm down," Sonny whispered.
"Dad! You are having a heart attack! What do the doctors say to take if you think you are having one? What's that damn pill called?" Kristina complained.
"An.. Aspirin," Sonny answered.
"Yes! That's it! Do you think there would be any stuffed in this room?" Kristina looked around.
Sonny shook his head. "Carly… doesn't use… this room… a lot. I… don't think… she would...randomly… store Aspirin… in here."
Kristina sat next to her father and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "I love you. Just rest. We're gonna get out of here and you'll get help. Soon. I promise."
"So, you know the plan, right?" Robert asked Kevin as they walked towards the front of command central.
Kevin nodded. "Hold my hands up at all times. Approach the door. Explain the options at hand."
"Good. Good. You ready?" Robert asked.
Kevin replied, "Yes."
Robert looked back at Mac and Jordan to get the okay. Once they nodded, he muttered to Kevin, "Now."
Kevin held up his hands and approached the front entrance of the Metro Court. Once he made it, he yelled into the building, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot. I'm unarmed. Listen to me, I'm a doctor. I can save the girl who has been shot!"
Laura and Lucky exchanged looks. It's Kevin!
Cyrus and Peter looked towards the door. Cyrus told the goon standing by the front entrance to confirm that the man had no weapons. "He's telling the truth. He is unarmed," the goon confirmed.
"I just want to help! You have my word! I'm not asking for you to release all the hostages. Just Emma! Let her come out of there for help!" Kevin explained. "My name is Kevin Collins! I'm a doctor! That is a young girl in there with her whole life ahead of her! Please let me help!"
Once Kevin introduced himself, Cyrus decided he would make this very difficult for his sister's husband. "But I can't let you in. Seems we are at an impasse Doctor Collins," Cyrus feigned concern.
"Then, let me in to keep! I'll do whatever you ask! Just let Emma get some help!"
"Isn't this sweet? You are willing to give up your life for a young woman. How poetic? But you see, I like the hostages I have. We have all formed some kind of bond," Cyrus teased.
"Please! Just let me in! I can help her!" Kevin begged.
Cyrus replied, "Well, she really could use your help. And it's tempting to accept your sacrifice you're offering to make. But you see, we've done a pretty good job here to lock the place down, so I'm afraid you're going to have to leave now."
"NO! No! I can't leave! I'm a doctor! I took an oath to help people and Emma needs my help!"
Peter spoke up and said, "Well, then I'll kill her now and that will end this tedious back and forth. Thank you."
"NO!" Laura screamed. "If you won't let Kevin in, then, then, let him tell us how to save her!"
Cyrus tapped his chin, pretending to think. "Well, well, well. That might be entertaining. If I agree, would you be willing to play doctor, Lovely Laura?"
Laura gulped. "Yes," she whispered.
Cyrus clapped his hands in glee. "This is going to be very, very fun."
"Hey! I need to examine Emma or else there will be no way to know the extent of her injuries! Until I do, I can't walk someone through surgery!" Kevin called out.
"Well, Kev, that's what makes life fun. You either walk them through blindly or not at all. Take your pick," Cyrus sinisterly offered.
Kevin replied, "Fine! I'll do it blindly! What are your rules?"
Cyrus explained, "Go back to command central and wait for my phone call. While you're waiting, I want you to relay a message. The next time someone approaches this door, a hostage will die. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes! No one comes near the door! Deal! Anything else?"
"Nope! Hurry along! You don't want to miss my call. We now get to see if the concerned doctor can play blind operation with his politician wife," Cyrus said, winking at Laura.
He knows Kevin and I are married? Who is this man? Laura thought as she was taken aback by Number One's knowledge about her.
"Lovely Laura, who do you want to be your assistant?" Cyrus inquired.
Laura quickly responded, "Elizabeth."
"EHHH. Wrong answer. Pick someone else. No doctors or nurses near the patient during this game," Cyrus said.
Laura looked over at Lucky, quietly asking him with her eyes. He nodded. "Lucky. I'd like my son to help me," Laura replied.
Cyrus agreed. "Isn't this going to be fun, ladies and gentlemen? Mother and son operating team!"
"Robert! How was your plan?" Nikolas asked as Robert approached him, Dante, Curtis, and TJ.
"He's not letting Emma go or Kevin inside, but he's letting Kevin tell Laura how to operate on Emma," Robert updated the group.
"Can you explain again why TJ couldn't do that? He's on his way to become a surgeon," Curtis asked.
"Because Kevin is a shrink. He has to be calm and understanding by nature. He can get inside their heads. And I think Cyrus would have only allowed it this way. He wants to torture Laura. And anyway, if this goes on for any longer, we need all of us together to break in," Robert explained.
"Do you think we will have to move on to our back up plan?" TJ asked.
Robert shrugged. "I don't know. I really don't know."
"Thanks for doing all of this, Kevin," Anna said as she was standing with Kevin waiting for Cyrus to call.
Kevin shook his head. "Don't thank me yet. He could be bluffing or he could change his mind at any time."
"I don't think he's bluffing. I think he really wants to watch amateurs perform surgery. He wants Laura to fail," Anna offered.
Kevin replied, "He's a sick bastard."
Anna nodded in agreement. "Can you do us all one more favor?"
Kevin looked at Anna. "Go on."
"While you are on the phone with Lucky or Laura, try to get as much information about the situation as possible."
"Grandmother, I can't believe you are doing this. You are a hero," Spencer admitted, caressing Emma's face.
Before Laura could reply, Peter interrupted. "Hey you! Spence the menace! Move over there," Peter pointed towards LuLu and Maxie. "Only two can be in the operating area."
Spencer sighed and gently moved out from under Emma's head. "Good luck. I believe in you with my whole heart," Spencer whispered before moving to sit with LuLu and Maxie.
Once everyone is situated, Cyrus dials the phone. "Let me talk to Collins."
"It's Kevin."
"Laura and Lucky are all prepared to be your eyes and hands. You may coach them through the surgery, but you can only use whatever supplies we have left in the hotel," Cyrus disclosed.
Kevin groaned over the phone. "Why are you doing this? They need a sterile environment."
Cyrus shrugged. "Improvisation is key to life. Moan again and this deal is off."
"Fine. Let me talk to Laura," Kevin said.
Cyrus passed the phone to Laura. "Do anything stupid and you die," he warned.
Laura took the phone and nodded. "Kevin? I'm here."
Kevin released a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding all this time. It had been hours since he heard his wife's voice. "Describe for me the wound and around the room. I mean around the wound."
Laura caught on to Kevin's slip up immediately. Lucky removed his jacket and the throw pillow from Emma's side. Laura winced when she saw the wound. "The bullet entered the left side of her abdomen. There's a lot of blood. Like an explosive amount."
"Is the area around the wound soft or swollen?"
"It's a little swollen," Laura replied.
"Emma is bleeding internally. If you don't open her up she could bleed to death," Kevin grimily admitted.
"I know. I know. We need supplies. Tell me what we need."
Kevin listed off a number of things he could think of that would be around a hotel lobby that Laura could use for improvised surgery. "I need a paper and pen," Laura requested.
"Can I get her those?" Lucky asked.
Cyrus nodded.
Lucky quickly ran to the front desk and grabbed a pen and notepad for his mother. "Okay. Got it," Lucky breathlessly replied as he returned to the floor next to Laura.
"Alright, Kevin. Start again," Laura said.
"We need clean towels, white preferably. We need sponges that are still in the wrapper only if you can. We need a knife. A needle and thread, tape, maybe scissors. OH! Gloves," Kevin rattled off.
"Is that it?"
"A bottle of any alcohol to help sterilize. But, yeah. Hopefully, that will do."
Lucky grabbed the list from Laura. "Can I go get these things?" he asked Cyrus.
Before Cyrus responded to Lucky, he forcefully grabbed the phone from Laura. "We'll call you back after we find the supplies," he told Kevin before hanging up. "You are staying with your mother. How about Spence the menace and Mad Mike? Are the two of you up for a little scavenger hunt?"
Spencer immediately got off the floor. "Come on, Michael," he said.
Michael, who was sitting in the corner of the lobby, by himself, with a blank stare on his face, didn't respond. "Michael! Get up! Let's go!" Spencer yelled as he offered his hand to help Michael up off the floor.
Michael didn't budge.
Cyrus marched over to Michael and picked him up by the arm. "Since you have decided not to participate, I'm going to take you somewhere so you can see what you should participate for," Cyrus explained. Cyrus began dragging Michael away from the lobby before he turned around and said to Spencer, "Wait until I return for more instructions to play scavenger hunt."
"He's going to call back once they get the supplies," Kevin informed Robert, Anna, Jordan, and Mac.
"Were you able to find out anything about what's happening in there?" Anna asked.
"There's a bomb."
"What?" Mac gasped.
"I couldn't ask anything out right because Cyrus is there listening, but Laura was able to communicate to me that there is a bomb in there."
"We need to act fast," Jordan concluded.
Robert quietly left the group and approached Jason, who was sitting next to Carly on the curb. "Morgan, a moment," Robert demanded.
Jason whispered to Carly that he would be back and walked up to Robert. "What?"
"We need to get in there. I want to trust my brother and his cops, but time is of the essence. I've been working with Cassadine, TJ, Dante, and Curtis on a plan to get in there and rescue everyone, but you have the human computer over there. Any good ideas?"
"Not all of us can break in. You have to stay out here. If you disappear, it will look suspicious. Dante and Curtis can join me. TJ and Nikolas can watch out for cops as we break in the second floor windows. Once in there, Spinelli can give us the layout of the lobby and where those bastards are. From there, we'll try to take out as many gunmen as possible," Jason described.
"Deal. Get the others up to speed and start the plan. There's a bomb. Move quickly," Robert said and walked back towards command central.
"Remember when I ran off with Ethan?" Kristina laughed.
Sonny chucked. "Yeah… I could… have… killed him."
"I was an adult! You just couldn't come to terms that your little girl actually grew up."
Sonny patted Kristina's hand. "You… will… always...be my little… girl."
"Dad, don't do this," Kristina pleaded.
"I need… you to know… that you… have been one… of the greatest loves…. of my life. You made… me a better…. person and... father. Just in case I-" Sonny emotionally choked out.
"NO! No! I won't let you do this! We are going to make it out of here alive and you will get help!" Kristina interrupted.
Sonny nodded.
"Sorry to intrude, but I bring the two of you a new visitor. How do we feel about a family reunion switch?" Cyrus announced as he and Michael entered the room.
"Michael," Sonny croaked out.
Cyrus pushed Michael towards Sonny. "If you want to live, stay with your father for a bit. Maybe he can wake you up and put some sense into you. And you," Cyrus pointed to Kristina. "You are coming back with me. The gang out in the lobby is a little dull without you."
"I'm not leaving my father! He's having a heart attack!" Kristina protested.
Cyrus shrugged. "Isn't that a shame? You either join the others in the lobby or I will end your father's suffering right here, right now. I'll be nice and let you choose."
"Go. I'll be… okay… with Michael," Sonny urged.
Kristina replied, "Are you sure?"
"Go."
"Wonderful. Let's go," Cyrus said and grabbed Kristina by the arm as they exited the room.
"Any word on my father?" Brook Lynn approached Chase near command central.
Chase turned to face her and replied, "Nothing yet. But Brook, you can't come up here. I need you to stay back with the rest of the civilians for your safety. Please."
Brook Lynn scoffed. "I can't come up here, talk and get comfort from my boyfriend about my father, but Dr. Collins can just chill out here like he's a cop?"
"He's helping us communicate with the hostage takers. Please. Just stand back with Olivia. I need you to be safe."
Brook Lynn sighed and pecked Chase on the lips. "You are such a goodie two shoes. And I love you for it. My great grandmother would be so proud," she said and walked back to wait with Olivia.
"Are… you… okay?" Sonny asked a silent Michael.
Michael didn't respond. His eyes were frozen.
"Michael… answer me."
"No," Michael whispered.
Sonny nodded. "Watching Bobbie… be murdered… like… that. It… is… traumatizing."
"Not just Grandma. But Sasha and Willow. Just a mad man with a gun killing all of them for no reason. And I stood back and did nothing! I did nothing! What kind of man does that make me?" Michael rorared.
"There was… nothing… you could... do. They would… have killed… you too."
"I'm a Corinthos. I'm a Spencer! My uncle is Luke! Yet, I can't get off my ass and protect my own grandmother or women who hold special places in my heart! If it was you or Luke, you would have thought of something already. We would have been out of here!"
Sonny shook his head. "I'm trapped… in here with… you… and I didn't… think of…. a... plan to… escape together… quickly. Don't… knock yourself… down."
Michael roughly wiped his tears away and Sonny let out a loud groan, clutching his chest.
Michael realizing that his father doesn't look well kneeled beside him. "Dad? Are you okay?"
Sonny replied, "Kristina… diagnosed me… as having a… heart attack."
Michael's eyes popped. "Dad! We need to get you help and out of here!"
Sonny groaned again. "Kristina tried... pleading. It didn't... work. I don't... think you... will change their... minds. I'll be... okay. They can't keep... us here forever."
"Dad, they have a bomb out there. Forever is down to a little over two hours or we all get blown to bits and pieces," Michael warned.
Spinelli and Jason huddled with TJ, Nikolas, Curtis, and Dante away from the rest of the crowd and out of the cops' sight. "So, I was able to get a clear layout of the hotel," Spinelli told the group.
"Great! Where are all the points of entry?" Dante asked.
"Well, there are many. But they are locked, unfortunately."
Jason shrugged. "That's fine. Carly can give me her pass-key."
Spinelli grimaced. "See, that's a problem. If you use the pass key, it will show up on the security monitor on the lobby's desk. If Cyrus or Peter or one of their goons are paying attention…"
"They will know we are inside," Curtis finished.
"Bingo," Spinelli nodded.
"Well, can't you find a way to override the security monitor?" Nikolas questioned.
Spinelli sighed. "Yes, but-"
"But what?" TJ interrupted.
"But what, Spinelli. You are "The Jackal." Act like it. Be a hero. Get us inside without any of them knowing," Jason pointedly said.
Spinelli looked up at the group of men around him. They all, including him, had someone inside that they cared about. "Okay. Let's do it," Spinielli announced.
Cyrus returned to the lobby with Kristina. Kristina ran and sat next to Alexis and Ned. Alexis wrapped her arms tightly around her daughter as Ned smiled at the pair. Cyrus approached Spencer. "Choose someone to help you gather the supply list. You will have exactly one minute to find as many items on that list as possible."
Spencer nodded and looked at Cameron. "Cam? Help me?"
Cameron jumped up and looked at the list in Spencer's hand.
Cyrus looked at the watch on his hand. "On your mark, get set, go!"
Spencer and Cameron ran throughout the lobby's floor grabbing anything off the list they could find.
"45 seconds!" Cyrus yelled.
"30 seconds!"
"15 seconds left!"
"5!"
"4!"
"3!"
"2!"
"1!"
"We've got it! We're here!" Spencer breathed heavily with his hands full of supplies.
"Let's see if you found everything Dr. Collins asked for," Cyrus taunted."We have a knife, towels, needle and thread, sponges, rubber gloves, alcohol, scissors, and my personal favorite, duct tape. Wow. I'm impressed."
Spencer and Cameron sighed in relief.
"Give the supplies to Lovely Laura and take your seats," Cyrus demanded.
"Here we go," Lucky muttered to his mother as he patted her hand.
Laura smiled in appreciation for his support.
"Number Three! Call the Doc!" Cyrus ordered. "It's showtime."
