"What was that all about?" Aurora asked Mireille with a smile.
"I have no idea!" Mirelle responded thoroughly perplexed. "Adrien Agreste has always been pleasant and friendly on the rare chance I got to talk to him, but now he just showed up wanting to talk..."
"Mirelle! I do believe you may finally be the first woman to catch the eye of the most adored and sought after young model in all of Paris!" Aurora elbowed Mireille. "Tell me how you did it! Maybe it was fan mail love letters...or have you been sneaking around luring him in without telling me?!"
"No, no, not at all!" Mireille blushed violently, holding up her hands in defence. I haven't even seen him in months! The last time I even remember having an actual conversation with him was like back when you and I hosted the Friendship Day contest from the wax museum...but even then, with the whole crazy red centaur-Lady akuma-thing, Adrien's body guard had hauled Adrien away to safety for most of the event anyway!"
"Well Adrien Agreste is not known for being reeled in easily," Aurora pondered. "He dated that Kagami fencer girl for a bit but apparently it didn't turn into anything serious."
"Lila Rosi said that she and Adrien were dating. They are not still together are they?" Mireille asked.
"Lila and Adrien? Aurora asked in surprise. "Naw...I was on a photo shoot with her and Adrien and I over heard one of the makeup artists say that Adrien's Dad had nearly fired Adrien's body guard and even his own assistant because Lila had talked her way into their house and posted that pic of her kissing Adrien on the cheek"
"No way really!" Mirelle said shocked.
"Oh yeah...and that photoshoot Adrien and Lila did together last season...I heard the photographer complaining that he had never seen Adrien so uncomfortable. I guess Mr. Agreste had more of a hand in that matching than Adrien did," Aurora gossiped.
"It's kindda hard to believe he's single! Every girl I know is obsessed with him...I mean who wouldn't be right!" Mireille laughed nervously. "Remember when Chloe showed us that autographed poster of him on Valentine's Day? I actually shed real tears thinking that they were together!"
"I'd shed tears for anyone who would suffer the misfortune of ending up with Chloe Bourgious!" Aurora replied unapologetically.
"Do you really think he could be into me?" Mireille asked quietly.
"Of course!" Aurora said supportively, "I mean the rest of Paris and your 1/2 million followers are in love with you, why not Adrien Agreste?!"
"It...it doesn't bother you?" Mirelle said cautiously, remembering how devastated Aurora had become when she had lost the KIDZ contest and been akumatized.
"I know I've let my emotions get out of hand in the past, but with the help of Ladybug I've been really trying to deal with things differently. You've been such a great friend, even after everything I did. I'm happy that someone else has noticed how great you are too!" Aurora said with sincerity. "I mean you've been pinning away for Theo for far too long! Maybe this is a miraculous sign!
"Yeah...Ladybug...miraculous," Mirelle said under her breath. She had seen Marinette rush into school today, and had wanted to say something to her, but after her last conversation with her, she wondered if maybe she should keep her distance. Mirelle wanted to do something to prove to Ladybug that she could be trusted, something to help, but she wasn't sure what that something could be.
"Whatever you do don't get trapped in the 'friend-zone' like poor Marinette!" Aurora went on.
"Marinette?! What about Marinette?!" Mireille startled out of her thoughts, and taken aback at the fact that Aurora had mentioned the very girl who was on her mind.
"You know..." Aurora led.
"No, I don't! Know what? What is there to know?" Mireille squeaked.
"Honestly, I thought everyone but Adrien himself had figured it out already," Aurora shrugged.
"What?!" Mireille drew closer.
"That she is head over heels in love with Adrien of course," Aurora shrugged as if it should be obvious. "She has been forever!"
"...and he doesn't like her back?" Mirelle asked.
"Whose to know! I don't think he realizes and so he has always seen her as a friend. Once a guy sees you as one of his buddys , any chance of romance goes out the window!" Aurora mimed a broken heart.
"I don't think that's true!" Mireille protested. "Aren't some of the most loving relationships built on friendship?!"
"I think you're ready for our next Friendship Day Promo!" Aurora joked.
"No, really!" Mireille insisted. "Theo and I have been friends for a long time!"
"And is he your boyfriend yet?" Aurora inquired.
"Well, not exactly..." Mireille admitted. "But we have gone out a couple times. "There was that one time Pixelator trapped us in a frame. Theo was so sweet! He even held my hand!"
"Sounds like friend-zone stuff to me," Aurora replied unconvinced.
"You really think Adrien doesn't know how much he means to Marinette?" Mireille asked deep in thought suddenly.
"Now it sounds like you're hoping Adrien and Marinette will get together, when it was you that the dream-boat in question came looking for just now! Marinette is a friend to him, a very good friend, but just a friend. Clearly he is interested in something more!" Aurora drew a heart on her notebook, and wrote 'A & M forever' in the centre, and passed it under Mireille's nose.
...but all Mireille was thinking of was that the 'M' next to the 'A' should really stand for "Marinette." If Adrien had any idea that the saviour of Paris, the one and only Ladybug was in love with him...well, there was no way she could get between that!
"If it is meant to be, it's meant to be," Aurora smiled encouragingly, "but maybe you could free up some time to hang out with the boy to let him know what he's missing!"
"That might not be such a bad idea," Mireille replied. Maybe she could be the one to help find Adrien exactly who he was missing and help Ladybug all at once!
