Alister and Scotty took a seat next to the pond, allowing for McCoy to heal them with his abilities but as normal Scotty wasn't complying. "Scotty would you sit still? I can't heal you when you're moving around. I may be good but I ain't that good." McCoy growled as he struggled to place the water over the Scotsman's wounds, "Sorry McCoy, it just stings." Kirk was stood there, his arms folded crossly. "What the hell were you thinking Scotty? You should have known it would be dangerous to go out there, so much so that Alister had to come find you." Scotty just stared at Kirk, "I didn't go wandering, Alister wanted to show me something and he believed that we would be safe. So don't get all moody with me." As Scotty spoke an odd aura flamed from his eyes, which everyone immediately noticed. "Scotty… Your eyes?" Lexie muttered, Scotty was confused about what Lexie had just said, but when he blinked his eyes the aura vanished. "Please do not look down on Scotty Kirk, it was me who took us out into the forest, but I assumed we would be safe since the forest is enchanted."
Alister said as McCoy finished healing his wounds, "There you two go." McCoy stated as he placed the water back into the pond with a gentle splash, startling the fish as a result. "So where did you guys go?" Asked Kiara, "I took Scotty to an altar which honours the late Guardian of Quintessence. There was an item there which I believed would help Scotty to use and control his powers." Alister answered as he rose from the rock he had been sat on, "Is that what that pendent is?" Questioned Chekov as he pointed to the jewel around Scotty's neck. "Aye lad, it's called the 'Amulet of Cecilia'. The first Guardian of Quintessence created it to help future Guardians of the element to control their powers." Scotty stated as he glanced down at the amulet, before he turned his head to face Alister as if to see if what he just said was correct. Alister just nodded at him, "OK, so how the hell did you get beaten up?" Asked McCoy. "We were attacked by minions of Queen Alisandra, Sombra her eagle and Vextra her Makelo, more commonly known as a Shadow dog." Stated Alister, Kiara looked at him clearly puzzled. "You never told me about this amulet being at the altar, you told me it was just there to honour the last Guardian of Quintessence." Alister sighed as he walked over to her and placed a hand on the Shikari's shoulder, "I should have told you Kiara, I'm sorry. But there's something else that you should know, the last Quintessence Guardian was my brother."
Kiara just blinked, "Your brother was a Guardian? Wait you have a brother?" She questioned, Alister nodded. "Yes, Miguel Arc is… was my brother. Just like the amulet I should have told you, but I was waiting for the right time." Alister was worried that Kiara would be mad, but she wasn't. "It's alright Alister, it was up to you if you told me or not." Lexie then chose to bring back up the fact that Scotty's eyes had suddenly gained an aura, "Umm… Sorry to break up this moment but, what was going on with Scotty's eyes just now?" Alister turn to face the Scotsman and stared deep into his eyes. "It's nothing to worry about, that's just a sign that Scotty's powers are beginning to show more and more. Quintessence is effected by emotions, that's all." Alister answered as he looked away, "Hopefully with this pendent I will be able to control my powers, to prevent me from hurting anyone." Lexie could see the sad look in Scotty's eyes, she knew him too well not to see it. "Is that why you weren't training with us?" She asked, Scotty just nodded slowly. "Unlike all of you who seemed to be naturals with your new abilities, I don't think I am." Lexie smiled as she walked over to him and took his hands in hers, "You'll get the hang of them Scotty, you just need to have faith in yourself, just like I have." Scotty smiled at Lexie, "Thanks lass, I needed to hear that." It was then went Shibuki stepped forwards.
"If you feel like you're ready Scotty, we can begin your training." Scotty nodded quickly, "I'm ready Shibuki, lets see what these powers can do." Shibuki bowed his head before walking off along with Scotty, while the others watched on from a safe distance. "Quintessence is an element which can utilize the other four in different ways. But first, we'll concentrate on the element itself. As you've found out you are able to shoot lightning from your hands, time for you to try and control where those bolts go." Scotty had been listening closely, he really wanted to learn how to use his new powers. Shibuki then spread his magnificent wings and several orbs of light flew from the feathers tips, the orbs seemed to float in mid-air, even when the lion folded his wings back. "Try and strike these light orbs with a bolt. Don't worry if you miss, just keep trying." Scotty nodded as he took a deep breath, he could feel electricity dancing around his fingers but unlike before, he wasn't so much afraid of it. He then pointed his hands towards the orbs and instantly shot bolts at them, destroying them instantly. "Well done Scotty, that was perfect." Stated Shibuki, the Scotsman smiled as he turned around to be greeted by Lexie lunging for him. "That was brilliant Scotty! You are a natural!" Scotty hugged his young friend back, "Thanks Lex." It was then when the air around them got extremely cold and the sky darkened really quickly, something wasn't right.
"Aww isn't that cute, the pathetic humans are playing with their new toys." A chilling voice called out, Scotty instantly pulled Lexie closer to him while Alister and Kiara summon their weapons once again. Just then a cloud of dark mist began to form in front of them, "I'm sorry Master Alister, it seems my illusion has finally failed." Shibuki said sadly as he stood at Alister's side. "It's alright Shibuki, it was only a matter of time until it failed. We knew one day it would, I just hoped it wouldn't be this soon." Suddenly the cloud erupted to reveal Queen Alisandra, along with several of her minions. "Oh Alister, did you really think you could hide from me?" Alister glared at her, his eyes narrow. Alisandra gripped her spear tightly in her hand, "I still cannot believe that these humans are the ones your prophecy spoke of, the ones who are supposably meant to defeat me. Hah!" Alisandra moved her left hand and stroked Vextra on the head. Kiara turned and nodded at Akela, who nodded back while Shibuki and Alister did the same. Suddenly Akela and Shibuki attacked, "Huh fools." Mutter Alisandra as she clicked her fingers. Vextra ran straight for Akela, despite being much smaller than the fox it was much stronger.
Vextra bit down hard on one of Akela's legs, causing the fox to cry out in pain. Vextra soon let go and fired a shadow ball which poor Akela didn't have time or the chance to dodge, while Shibuki was fighting with another one of the Queens pets. It was a huge black horse with eyes of glowing purple, even though Shibuki was a lion he didn't stand a chance against this creature of darkness as he was sent flying too. Kiara and Alister ran to their partners sides, while Alisandra laughed. "I'll make this easy for you Alister and your so called Guardians, surrender now or prepare to be consumed by the shadows with the rest of this pitiful world." "No!" Yelled Lexie, that seemed to shock the Queen since she appeared to be expecting Alister to answer. "I think I speak for all of us when I say this, we will not stand by and allow you to harm the people who you once protected. We were given these powers to put an end to your rain of terror and that's what we plan on doing." Every one nodded, even Delta did despite not having any powers of his own. Alisandra smirked, "Fine, have it your way." With a flick of her spear, Alisandra launched a shadow bolt right for Lexie. Thinking quickly on her feet, Lexie flew straight up and avoided the attack.
It soon became a full on fight and no one was being left out. Lexie was flying around trying not to get knocked out of the sky by Sombra, the Eagle was dodging every attack that Lexie threw at it, but at least she was doing the same. "Would you hold still you stupid bird?!" Lexie yelled as she once again attempted to land a hit, but to no avail so instead she continued to fly around to try and wear the bird out. McCoy and Kirk were face to face with Nebulon, "Don't go easy on it Bones, whatever it is." Kirk stated as he summoned fire balls in his hands. McCoy grinned at Kirk before pulling a ribbon of water from the pond beside him, twirling it around him like a huge water python. "Oh don't worry Jim, I ain't gonna hold anything back." Kirk grinned back before launching the two fire balls from his hands, while McCoy split his ribbon of water into sections and froze them before hurdling them at the stallion. Chekov and Kiara were having a stand-off with Vextra, who was staring menacingly into their eyes. Kiara could tell Chekov was slightly nervous, but she knew he would hold his own. "Now's your chance to show me what you can do." She said with a small chuckle as she pointed her staff towards the enemy, the tip glowing brightly.
Chekov nodded before lifting huge boulders off the ground. Which left only Alisandra herself and it appeared that she had taken an interest in Scotty, since she had immediately started to attack him once the fighting had started. Scotty was trying his best to hold his own, but like he had told the others, he wasn't a fighter. No matter how many bolts he threw at her, Alisandra just didn't seem to be effected by any of them, the ones that hit her anyway, Scotty's aim wasn't brilliant. Thankfully he had Alister there to help him, which he definitely needed. "Leave him alone Alisandra, if you want to fight someone so bad, fight me!" Alister cried as he raised his sword up, "Don't worry Alister, I'll get to you. Right after I destroy him!" Alisandra yelled as she span her spear round and hit Scotty in the chest with the handle, sending him flying. "What's the matter Guardian? Can't fight by yourself?" Scotty sighed quietly to himself as he struggled to his feet, she was right. The others were holding their own, when he was getting thrown about like a rag doll. "Scotty!" Yelled a voice, Scotty turned to see Delta hovering next to a tree. Alisandra looked over and grinned when her eyes fell upon the little robot, "This should be fun…" She whispered. Suddenly she used her spear to send what appeared to be a shadow arrow flying, directly towards Delta who just froze. "Delta move!" Scotty cried. But instead of moving Delta just closed his eyes, as if excepting his fate. But a scream of pain made him open his eyes, Delta instantly wished he hadn't bothered.
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, Lexie had flown directly in front of the arrow taking it in her chest. "Lexie!" Delta cried as time returned to its normal speed, Lexie fell to the ground next to him. Scotty felt tears swelling in his eyes, how dare she hurt Lexie! Scotty span round and began to fire bolts off at a frantic pace, driven completely by anger. Kirk and McCoy had managed to get away from Nebulon to go and see to Lexie, while Scotty continued to fight Alisandra. "Lexie, can you hear me?" Kirk asked as he gently held her in his arms, "I'll be fine Kirk, where's Delta?" "I'm here Lex." Delta cried as he placed his tiny metallic hand in hers. The others had also joined them at this point, Kiara glanced up when a shadow was casted over her. "Oh no." Kirk also looked up, but he didn't like what he saw. All of Alisandra's pets were staring at him, their eyes glowing. Scotty was still fighting Alisandra, but suddenly stopped when he heard Kirk call out his name.
The Scotsman span round to see not only Kirk but everyone wrapped up in chains of jet black, while the Queens pets stood beside them, they seemed to be in some sort of trance, maybe they were the cause of the chains. Scotty instantly ran over to them, completely ignoring the fact he had just turned his back on the enemy. Scotty desperately tried to break the chains, "You won't break them Scotty, you need to get out of here." Alister cried. "What? I can't leave you!" "You must, we must prevent Alisandra from capturing all of the Guardians. Go!" Scotty didn't wish to leave them, but he knew Alister was right. "Scotty… take Delta with you." Lexie muttered weakly, "I will lass." Scotty quickly scooped Delta up in his arms before bolting into the forest, Alisandra's minions snapped out of their trance and went to follow him. "Let the fool go, he's no threat to me. Come, we have work to do." With a swing of her spear, Alisandra vanished along with her pets and the others. Scotty had tears in his eyes as he ran, clutching Delta close to his chest. "I'm sorry guys, I'll save you. I promise." He muttered sadly as his tears dripped down his face.
