A/N: Welp, here it is! It's not too long, but I really just wanted to wrap this up with a simple and fluffy ending. Sorry if it disappoints anyone, but this was never supposed to become that popular, hehe! As for another story... I have an idea for a longer one, but I'd like to know if you all like my kind of writing, and will take that into consideration first.
Opening their eyes, a small spirit gave a small huff at the fact she was waking up yet again. Seriously, who sleeps this much in such a small time frame!?
She looked over at the boy next to her, a bit of saliva trailing from the corner of his mouth. A small pang entered her heart, but Beatrice knew he was gonna be okay now... she could protect Subaru, she knew she could.
However... she had some pressing Subaru-based matters to tend to, for the moment. Like finding those idiots of the camp and mouthing them off! She may have been patient with them at first, but now she was seriously pissed!
Climbing out of the bed, while having to untangle herself from two large limbs, she the started striding off out the door, deciding to attempt to locate those she was currently frustrated with.
Quite surprisingly, the moment she exited the room she was met with a familiar face leaning against the opposite wall... but not one she had been expecting.
"Why hellooooooo, Beatrice. A loooovely morning, is it nooooot?"
Oh god, only one person can have such an agitating speech pattern...
"And I see you've crawled out of your cage, I suppose."
Beatrice simply gives him an unsavory look, as he was the one person she still truly didn't like in this mansion.
"Oho, your words woooound me so, dear Beatrice!" In a tone of mocked pain, Roswaal dramatically splays an arm out in an eccentric fashion.
"Save the theatrics for someone who actually cares, I suppose. Now, what could've possibly gotten you to come here? Do you need Subaru for something, I suppose?"
"Actually, I was hooooping to talk to you, if you wouldn't miiiind."
With a genuine look of confusion, Beatrice simply nodded, giving the affirmation that she'd at least hear him out. However, he simply ushered her forward with his arm, as he started walking, signifying he wanted to talk at another location.
Upon arriving at his office, they settled at opposite side of the desk, the height difference making it appear quite humorous.
Beatrice decides to lead the conversation
"Now that we're here I'd like to ask you something, I suppose. What did the others have to do that was possibly so important, I wonder?"
Roswaal gave a small smile, having genuinely foreseen this question.
"Weeeeell, as I was present when "it" happened, I was acuuuuutely aware of what was happening. So, I decided to create a smaaaaaal distraction, as I figured you'd be best suuuuited to handle Subaru Natsuki."
Beatrice had to wait a moment before processing what he said.
"Wait, you... what did you- Actually, nevermind. I want nothing to do with you I suppose. But, I must ask, why?" Beatrice says gently tilting her head in curiosity.
A small pause was present, before Roswaal gave yet another, but this time, genuine smile.
"Me and Suuuuubaru may not exactly get along at tiiiimes... but I do not hate him. No matter how I may treat him, or he may treat me, we are important to each other's goals. And I, truly, do appreciate that foolish man, even if he can be quite troublesome... So I decided to try and give him some room to breathe." Having dropped his accent early on, this small dialogue of his was delivered with what was shocking honesty.
With a sigh, Beatrice can't help but shake her head.
"My contractor really has a habit of charming everyone, doesn't he, I suppose? Even a heartless ghoul such as yourself can come to like him..."
"Yooooou do know I have feelings tooooooo, you knoooooow?"
"And, I suppose?"
"...Fair enough."
And, for the first time in a long, long time, the lord and Great Spirit shared a small laugh.
Standing up in preparation, Beatrice gazes back at Roswaal, uttering, "For what it's worth, thank you, I suppose." Before finally leaving.
Turning to go back to her original plan, she's met with a sight that she... couldn't quite comprehend.
There was four figures standing out in the hall, but...
"Why... WHY DO YOU ALL HAVE BUCKETS ON YOUR HEADS, I SUPPOSE!?"
One figure quickly lifts the bucket present on their head, revealing one Subaru, with quite the mischievous look.
"Hey Beako, just a fun little game I came up with. I even got Emilia, Otto, and Garfiel in on it! Wanna join?"
"Yes, it's quite fun Beatrice!" Came Emilias childish exclamation.
"N-Natsuki-san, this is actually a bit ridiculous..." Ottos apprehensive voice expressed.
"Oi! Watch ya mouth! Cap'ns ideas are the coolest!" Garfiel let loose, jumping onto Otto and beginning to wrestle (If you can even call a one-sided match wrestling) with Otto.
"No, I want nothing to do with this, I suppose."
Subarus eyes, seeming to gleam with excitement, seemed to grow brighter and brighter as he lifted another bucket into his hands.
"Come, on Beako, it's the perfect game! I'll just have to show you, I guess..."
"H-hey! Stay away from me, I suppose!"
And then, from that day onward, Subaru's heart seemed ever the bit lighter, and Beatrice seemed to be a bit more like a doting mother at times, constantly asking if he was okay, or if he needed help.
She... also became very acquainted with Bucket-san, as Subaru took a large liking to his strange game. Such misfortune...
