Hi! Sorry for a short delay - I got stuck with my work and couldn't post the new chapter earlier. Again, thanks for reading my story and reviewing it. Keep doing it:)

Chapter 7

After Lucifer left, Chloe hasn't moved a bit from the door. Thousands of thoughts were clouding her mind. When has her life became so complicated? Five years ago she was only concerned about what to prepare for dinner or what babysitter to hire for Trixie. It seemed that life before she met Lucifer was easier. Now, every day she had to deal with celestial matters, the main one being the fact that today she was going to dine with God himself. She chuckled to herself. If a couple of years ago someone told her that she was going to do such preposterous thing, she would laugh at that. However, with everything regarding Lucifer, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Chloe was standing like that for some time which made Trixie worry about her.

"Mommy, are you all right? You've been staring at the door for ten minutes." Trixie spoke up.

Chloe was snapped out of her reverie. She turned around and met her daughter's eyes full of concern.

"I'm okay. Everything's fine." As soon as she had said those words, she was stopped with a 'don't-give-me-that-crap-again' look on Trixie's face. Chloe felt defeated but she tried at least not to reveal too much information. "All right, I'm worrying about something connected with Lucifer."

"Are you afraid that he doesn't feel the same way about you?" Trixie asked.

Chloe was surprised at hearing the exact same words she herself uttered no longer than a day before. "What?"

"Cause it's obvious he loves you. His every action is the proof of that. You must be blind not to notice it." Sometimes Chloe thought that her daughter seemed older and more perceptive than children her age.

"No, Trixie." Chloe said, smiling slightly. "That's not it. I know he loves me. Really."

"So what is it?" Trixie asked, unable to let it go.

"It's his unfinished family issues – Lucifer doesn't get along with his Dad and I want to help him." She said with sincerity.

Trixie realized her mother really meant it. "I'm sure you'll find a way to do it."

"Thank you, honey. I hope so." She said and gave her daughter a quick hug. "So, have you packed everything you'll need?" She asked, her mother instinct kicking in.

"Yes. Are you really certain you'll be okay?" Trixie couldn't help a strange feeling of anxiety coming over her.

"Yes, monkey. I'll be fine." Chloe tried to put up her brave face, hoping it would satisfy her daughter. Trixie didn't look much convinced though. But she decided against digging into it much further as she wanted to spare her mother any more worries. Plus, she already got the essential details she needed. She decided to go to her room and prepare for her father's visit.

Twenty minutes later, Chloe heard the door bell. She got up and opened it. Dan was standing there, looking uncertain. She could easily see he was still coping with the 'Lucifer-being-the Devil' situation. His eyes were darting and at first he avoided meeting her gaze.

"Hi, come in." She stepped aside and invited him into the house.

"Thanks." He said and came in with evident apprehension.

"Trixie, daddy's here!" Chloe shouted. "She's almost ready." She added and looked at him.

"Dan, how are you holding up?" She asked, coming closer and placing her hands on his arms.

"How am I holding up?" He finally looked her in the eyes. "I think I'm the one who should ask you this question." He said and pointed to her still bandaged hand. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm better now." She smiled weakly.

"I heard about the precinct. I wish I had been there." He said through clenched teeth.

Chloe sighed. "Dan, you couldn't have done anything to prevent it."

"What happened there? People are saying that it was like any other day but then in a split second broken glass was flying everywhere. They have no idea what could have caused it." He said and then his eyes narrowed. "Is this Lucifer's work?"

Chloe knew where this was heading to so she quickly denied it. "No, it's not his fault."

"Don't protect him. I know you have feelings for him but he's...," he paused, avoiding using the actual word with Trixie being around, "he's not out of this world."

"I told you he's not bad and through the years he became your friend. Dan, you know him." She pleaded.

"Maybe. It's so confusing. I don't know it anymore." He seemed frustrated and exhausted. Chloe was right, Lucifer became kind of his friend but this revelation of him being the Devil was still too fresh and hard to come to terms with. "So, can you tell me what happened there?"

Chloe had doubts whether to tell him every celestial detail. "Are you sure you're ready for this?"

"Probably not but go on." He braced himself for it.

"Well, for me it was like you have just said. I was talking to Lucifer, then suddenly he was gone and I heard shuttering glass. I found Linda with Charlie and drove them home. It turned out that Amenadiel went missing too. I tried to locate them but I failed so I went to pick up Trixie." She didn't mention one of the reasons for that being Michael staying on the loose.

"Go on." Dan said, eyes fixed on her.

"Later I found out that it was Amenadiel who entirely stopped the time."

"What? He can do something like that?" Ben shouted perplexed.

Great, he has so much other things on his mind and now I'm adding another one, Chloe thought.

"I treated Amenadiel as my friend, even closer than Lucifer." He sighed. "So, how many details I don't know yet?" He asked like a man who realized he was being kept in the darkness for a long time.

You have no idea, Chloe thought but didn't vocalize it. "Dan, I know you'd like to know everything about it at once but please go slow with it. It'll be better for you and when you're ready, I'm sure you can talk to Lucifer and he'll answer your questions." She tried to comfort him somehow.

He hesitated a little before answering her. "Well, I don't know if he'd do that since I had almost killed him. By the way, how is it possible that he didn't die of my bullet but he got injured numerous times before?"

"That's a good question and even me or Lucifer don't have the answer to it."

"So, anyway what happened next?" Dan asked.

"Lucifer's twin brother, Michael, appeared at the precinct and wanted to defeat both his brothers."

"Both? Is he that powerful?"

"No, he found an ally – Maze." Seeing his puzzled look, she continued. "Maze is a demon without a soul and Michael promised to give her one so she agreed to join him against Lucifer."

"Oh, now I understand." His thoughts went to the day when he and Maze implemented her plan to make the Russians kill the prison warden who was behind John Decker's murder.

"What?"

"No, nothing." He was sure that thing shouldn't be revealed to her ever. "I guess they all fought and thus the damages at the precinct?"

"That's right." Chloe answered. Please, just don't ask this question, she thought. She could see Dan was thinking hard.

"So who won?" He finally asked.

And 'bang', here came the most dreaded point. Chloe had no idea how to tackle this one. Could she tell him the truth – that God showed up at their precinct to separate his fighting children and now she's invited to his family dinner? No, of course she couldn't do that. She knew him that much, he would surely freak out all the way. Dan saw her hesitation and the fact that she didn't answer his question right away.

"Chloe, if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine. Just tell me if Lucifer and Amenadiel are okay?" Judging by her reaction, he was fearing the worst.

"Yes, they're okay." She said and a small smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. "I'm sorry, Dan but I can't tell you more about it for now."

"All right. Don't worry about me." He said but Chloe noticed a pang of hurt in his voice. "I'd better take Trixie and head home. I'll bring her back tomorrow. Trixie, are you ready?" He called out.

Five seconds later, their daughter was standing in front of them, holding her backpack and wearing her sweetest smile on her face.

"I'm ready, daddy."

"Wow, that was fast." Dan was stunned by his daughter's rapid appearance.

Trixie went to Chloe and gave her a quick hug. "See you later, mommy." She said hurriedly, sped towards the door and then she was gone.

"Dan, you'd better watch out. She's definitely up to something, I can tell." Chloe warned him. She knew her daughter well and she had a feeling it's not over yet.

"Yeah, thanks. See you tomorrow." He said, not really sharing her opinion. Poor Dan didn't know what the nearest future would hold for him.

"Bye," Chloe said and closed the door behind him. She felt sorry for making him upset. It seemed so bad not telling him such important aspect. However, she knew that for now, she couldn't play it any other way. She just hoped everything would turn out fine and Lucifer would talk to Dan soon.

Although it was almost midday, she was already tired and she felt a splitting headache starting to form. She breathed out heavily and went to her bedroom to choose what to wear for the dinner. It was something new to her so it was quite hard to decide. Finally, after what felt like ages, she was holding a dress she bought some time ago but didn't have the occasion to wear. That will be perfect, she thought. She looked at her watch and noticed she had a lot of time but also quite a number of stuff to do. Time passed so quickly, it seemed to her it was just a blink of an eye.

At around five, she heard a soft knock at the door and she went to it. Chloe swung it open and she heard a well-known voice.

"Hello, De... Detective." Lucifer stuttered, his eyes widened at the sight that greeted him. He was awestruck.

She was wearing a lace dress – a close-fitting top with short sleeves and a full skirt of just above the knee length. The colour was dark red, almost crimson.

"Hi, come on in." She said and smiled broadly.

"Wow, I must say you look amazing, darling." He whispered, his voice making her shiver.

"Thanks." She said, her eyes sparkling. "You look nice in this suit, too."

He couldn't resist capturing her lips with his any longer. His hands first went to her soft hair cascading loosely past her arms. Their kiss soon deepened. She was exploring his shirt-clad chest. He gently caressed her back and just as he started moving downwards, he heard her say. "Mhmm, Lucifer, if we don't stop now we won't make it to the dinner." Chloe said in a husky voice.

"Who cares about the dinner?" He answered and continued with kissing her neck and moving dangerously close to her most sensitive spot there. He was a really fast learner – after one night he has learnt her body so well.

"Lucifer..." She moaned and started feeling she may lose this battle. "Despite what you said…" She was trying so hard to focus on her words, his actions making it almost impossible. "I know you want to meet your Dad and clear things between the two of you." She finished.

Lucifer hesitated for a moment and stopped his exploration. He groaned. "You're right but I want to feel you again." He almost pouted which made her smile.

"Lucifer, I want that too but we can't now. And I promise to you that we will have it soon, okay?"

He nodded his head and took a deep breath. After a moment, an idea crossed his mind.

"You forgot about something." He said.

"What?" Chloe asked, having no idea what he was talking about. She spent so much time for all the preparations.

He pointed to her ears lacking any jewelry. "Don't worry," he said, "I've brought you something." He smiled, took a small box out of his jacket's pocket and gave it to her. 'I hope you'll like them."

She opened it slowly and what she saw there, took her breath away. Inside the box, there were silver earrings, each having a huge sparkling ruby with tiny diamonds around it. She touched them gently, fearing they're not real and she's imagining things. She didn't know what to say. No one ever has given her such a precious gift.

"You know what they say about diamonds – they're girl's best friend." He stated.

"Lucifer, how did you know? They're amazing." She said.

"What's the Devil for? And you are amazing, my dear. Now put them on and see if they match." Chloe smiled and took the earrings with slightly shaking hands.

"How do I look?" She asked, moving her head sideways for Lucifer to have a better view.

"Wonderful. The earrings match your dress perfectly." He murmured.

"Thank you, again." She smiled and gave him a light kiss on his lips, trying so hard not to add any more fuel to the fire cause she knew this time she wouldn't say no to him.

"So, shall we go?" He motioned to the door.

"Yes." Chloe took her purse and they finally left.

Thank you for reading. Let me know what you think about it. There will be probably one or two more chapters. I hope I'll be able to post it before season 5b. I can't believe in 5 days Lucifer is back!
