One Year Later
Leo was fiddling with the grey bow tie of his suit, his stomach was doing flips, his hands were sweating. He'd been in plenty of difficult situations but nothing prepared him for his wedding day. He was nervous that he'd fumble over his words and screw up the vows. He was just overreacting that was all.
There was a knock at Leo's door, "Come in." As Leo turned and Brainy entered the room and with a tilt of his head Brainy could tell what was wrong.
"There is no need to be nervous, there is only a 27.4 percent chance that you will mess up your vows."
"Is that all?" He went over toward the fridge and got a bottle of water and began to drink it down. "Are we ready?" He set the bottle down.
"That we are. I'm happy that you and Kara found happiness." Brainy gave Leo a hug then. "You'll be fine out there. Just focus on her and you'll do fine."
Leo exited the small beach bungalow, and as he breathed in deeply the refreshing sea salt air he felt a little better. The two men made their way down along the beach, it was a simple wedding with only their family and close friends attending. J'onn was near the front and there were chairs lined up in front of where Leo and Kara would be getting married. Leo stood in his place standing by J'onn while Brainy took a seat in the front by Nia. Leo took another look at everyone, Alex, Kelly, James, Nia, Brainy, M'gann, Sam, Eliza, Jeremiah, and lastly their doppelgangers, Lena, and Kara.
He didn't have long to dwindle on his thoughts as Kara was walking toward them. She wore a simple white wedding dress, the sunlight glistening off her golden locks and white skin, almost making her glow. How was she so beautiful and yet she was so strong. He'd depended on her time and time again. His lips turned into a smile which she returned and Leo felt like the luckiest man in the entire universe.
When she was within a foot of him she whispered. "Hi."
Leo grinned and whispered, "Hi." He extended his arm toward her and felt her smooth fingers wrap around his hand.
J'onn looked between both of them before he began to speak. "Welcome, everyone. I think I speak for everyone here that we are all glad to be here on this special day. Love is what brought us here today. As you two go into marriage remember how you arrived at this point and look forward to the journey together. You'll have ups and downs but find strength in each other. To truly trust in each other, our greatest strength is our bond with each other and together you two will fight demons, defeat enemies, build a life, and forge a bond that will only deepen with time." J'onn saw Kara like she was his own daughter, and he couldn't be more proud of her. She was beaming with happiness, "Now, Leo Tiberius Luthor, do you, of your own free will, take Kara Zor-El, as your lawful, wedded wife, to love, protect, and defend as long as you both shall live?"
"I do." Leo replied with no hesitation.
"Kara Zor-El, do you, of your own free will, take Leo Tiberius Luthor, as your lawful, wedded husband, to love, protect, and defend as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
J'onn gave a nod, "Now, I believe you two have vows you would like to exchange."
"I asked you once, what do you know about quantum entanglement. Two particles can become intimately linked and if one particle vibrates the other reacts. No matter the distance they are connected to each other. Even if there is a universe between they never lose that connection. Kara, I will always be connected to you. I will always love you." Leo felt Kara gently squeeze his hand and with her free hand, she slowly wiped away a tear.
"When I came here to this planet I didn't plan on getting married to a human and eventually I wanted a normal life. I wanted someone I could be with, truly be with, and that someone is you. I trust you without question, you are my sunlight Leo, I love you with all my heart."
"You may exchange the rings."
Leo pulled out the two wedding bands and as he slid the ring on Kara's finger and she did the same J'onn continued. "With these public promises and vows, and the exchange of wedding bands, by the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss." Kara was the first to lean forward and capture Leo's lips in a sweet and tender kiss. "May I introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Luthor-Danvers." Their friends and family began to clap congratulating them on their union. Many cheers and whooping from James and Brainy and as the couple parted huge smiles were plastered on their faces.
The night's festivities of celebration was met with many hugs and laughter and as the sunset over the ocean, the celebration continued. "Now, we are going to do this right. From what I've read couples do not have wonderful pictures of the cake cutting." Brainy raised a finger, "We are going to do this right." Leo was wondering how on earth Brainy got the camera away from James but Brainy was rather insistent.
Leo gave a reluctant nod. "Okay, what's first?"
"Now cut down just a little bit and then stop." Leo and Kara held the knife and began to cut down slowly before Brainy yelled. "Stop, that's enough!" Leo and Kara stopped while Brainy took more pictures before allowing them to continue bit by bit. It was painfully slow. Leo didn't even want cake by the time they finally cut all the way through to the bottom. "Now hold the knife there I have to take another shot. You will both be thankful that you took my advice."
As Leo placed the chocolate cake on a plate and cut into it with a fork in order to offer some to Kara to which she eagerly took a bite. The cake photo marathon was exhausting, so eating the cake was much appreciated. As Kara fed Leo a bite of cake James and Alex began to encourage Kara to push some cake into Leo's face.
"Come on Kara, just a bit." James urged.
Alex nodded, "Just mush it, you're so fast he won't know what happened." Kara however just fed some cake to Leo, lovingly.
Leo looked toward Alex and James. "See, I knew she –" Before Leo could finish however Kara took some frosting and smeared it along Leo's mouth and nose causing Alex and James to burst out laughing. Leo chuckled softly, "Sneaky Mrs. Luthor-Danvers."
Kara laughed softly before she helped clean the frosting off of Leo's face. "Sorry, I just couldn't pass it up."
As the night went on and Leo and Kara were saying their goodnights to everyone they lastly met up with their doppelgangers. Lena was dressed in a red dress, her hair neatly pulled up into a bun while her Kara was in a refreshing yellow dress. Her Kara's hair was flowing freely,
Lena's Kara smiled, "Thank you so much for inviting us. It was a beautiful wedding."
Leo smiled. "Of course, well we wanted you both to be here. After everything we've been through it's nice to keep in touch. The hotel isn't too far from the beach, you two enjoy your stay before you have to leave and head back to your earth."
Leo's Kara nodded, "You both are like family. Not having you wouldn't be right. Have a great night you two." They hugged as they said goodbye and the Luthor-Danvers' went to their bungalow.
"You know…" Kara began. "I'm still not used to it yet Mrs. Luthor-Danvers. I do love the sound of it though." Her finger idly twirled a lock of her hair as she casually walked along the sand and toward their bungalow. "Mr. Luthor-Danvers."
Leo grinned. "Yes, my wife. I know, it'll take some getting used to saying it. But I wouldn't want it another way." As they arrived at the bungalow Kara opened the door and gently pulled Leo inside her arms wrapped around his neck pulling him close to her. She kissed him deeply Leo melted into the warmth of her lips. He would love every moment with this woman, and he felt like the luckiest person in the world. She was his everything.
Lena had never been to many weddings, but the ones she did attend, she always made a point to look at the groom. When his bride arrived while most took to look at the bride, she watched the groom's reaction. She examined each microexpression, the building joy at the realization that he was marrying the one he loved. This was their one, the person who meant the world to them. "That was a lovely wedding. Did you want to walk along the beach?"
Kara smiled. "I know, you know I always wanted a wedding on the beach. I guess my doppelganger beat me to it. Of course, I'd love to." Lena and Kara left the party as it was winding down and began to walk along the beach. They had left their shoes behind, the soft sand too forgiving to safely and comfortably navigate in heels.
It was a clear sky, and the moon was full and bright tonight. Lena and Kara playfully touched their fingers together as they walked before they held hands. Their fingers intertwining together, they fit perfectly between each other almost like they'd been destined to be together.
They found a spot along the beach to sit and, as they extended their legs out and sunk their feet into the soft sand, Kara idly ran her free hand through the sand. She drew small circles, as she gazed out among the water.
"Kara?"
"Humm?" Kara turned her head, as she gazed upon her love and friend.
"Are you happy?"
"Of course, I'm happy. Why wouldn't I be? I have you and everyone I love. This past year has been a lot of soul searching. I know that I love you." Kara had the biggest grin on her face.
"I'm happy too but I—also got you a present." Lena began only for Kara to perk up at the word. Kara sat up straighter as Lena pressed a key into her one hand.
Kara blinked as she was putting two and two together before she locked her gaze with Lena. "Does this mean you…"
"Would you like to move in together? If you aren't ready…" She began only for Kara to interrupt her blurting out.
"Yes! I mean, I do want to move in together!" Kara then pulled Lena into a firm hug. Lena let out a sigh of relief. She had been a little concerned Kara wouldn't want to take that step, but she was pleasantly wrong. Kara pulled back slightly, "You know, I'm actually going to miss my loft just a tiny bit."
"Are you, now?"
"It was the first place I got when I moved into National City. It's the start of everything. I soon became Supergirl after I had moved into that place." She smiled fondly. "But I think it's time for a new chapter."
"A new chapter together." Lena smiled before leaning in and kissing her Kara. Lena had gotten her back, and she wasn't going to let her go.
