the first chapter of from the present day with Yuuki Cross and Zero Kiryuu's relationship and time at Cross Academy
disclamation: I do not own 'Vampire Knight'. trust me when I say that if I did, I would so get right on Viz Media's case about the way they chose to end the anime. I'll never forgive them for it, NEVER!
For the next four years, I worked as a prefect on the Disciplinary Committee, along with my Yuuki. We kept the school as orderly as we could, which was not by a lot considering that Yuuki was the only other prefect on the Disciplinary Committee. There was also the fact that the Day Class fawned over the Night Class… every_ damn_ evening at curfew. I especially hated times when the Day Class really slobbered like puppies over the Night Class, like Valentine's Day, or even worse still, the night of the Cross Academy Ball. It was days like those that got on my nerves the most.
I pitied everyone at the academy who actually liked those vampires, of course that extended to nearly every girl at this school even though Cross Academy is supposed to be a school of a higher education.
I was already on my way to the gates of the Night Class's Moon Dormitory. When I got there, however, I could suddenly hear Yuuki talking to Kaname Kuran.
Kaname Kuran: When you act reserved like this, I feel a bit lonely.
Yuuki: Um, I'm sorry, but I guess it's because you're the one who came and saved my life that day, Kaname.
Kaname Kuran then put his hand on Yuuki, my Yuuki. True, she was my supposed foster father's daughter, but I still was blatant in my refusal to be thought of like a brother to her.
Kaname Kuran: Don't worry about that, anymore. That was so long ago.
This was not good. Kaname was trying to pull his old understanding ACT. I know that Yuuki thought the same thing about him and the rest of the Night Class as that idiot headmaster of the Academy, but I did not believe a word from Kuran's lying lips. I know it sounds more like I am just jealous of Kaname, but I know what I am saying. I know what kind of vampire he is. If Yuuki was not careful around his breed of vampire, she could_ she could_
I grabbed onto Kaname's hand and pulled it away from Yuuki's face before he could make his move. Yuuki sounded openly disappointed about this…
Yuuki: Zero!
Then again, what did she possibly know about Kaname's true nature as a vampire?
Yours Truly: Your class has begun, Kaname. You should go, now.
Kaname then forced my hand off of his own.
Kaname Kuran: You're so scary, Mr. Disciplinary Committee Prefect.
It was right about then that two of the Day Class girls went up to Kaname.
Girl #1: Um, Kaname?
The two of them gave him a rose and a poetry book full of their feelings, by the way the book appeared.
Girl #1: Would you please accept this?
At first, he accepted their presents graciously, but it was not like he was planning to keep them.
Kaname Kuran: Thank you.
Sure, he thanked the two of them for the presents. The minute those two fangirls would have been on their way back to their dorms, however, I would be willing to bet that he was going to wither up the rose and not even bother to read the book of poetry.
Yuuki, however, did not know that Kaname most likely rejected the gifts in reality. I then noticed the fangirls who were still sighing over the Night Class.
Yours Truly: YOU ALL NEED TO GET BACK TO YOUR DORMS, RIGHT NOW!
Then, they all ran back to their dorms, screaming in terror. I could not stand their lovesickness over such crude creatures as those in the Night Class. I was so frustrated with this work, I hated it just enough to complain about it.
Yours Truly: Every day, they're out here, screaming and throwing themselves_
My ranting was, however, interrupted by Yuuki punching me in the butt.
Yuuki: Why are you acting cocky, you big jerk? You're late! It's our job as Disciplinary Committee prefects to set an example!
I finally turned around and began shoving Yuuki backwards by her forehead.
Yours Truly: Oh, yeah? Well, I could say the same thing about you. You're so obvious, it's pathetic.
Yuuki: Huh?
Really? 'Huh'? That was all she could say for herself? Did she actually think that she was as 'hard to figure out' as that?
Yours Truly: Listen; it's really none of my business whether you like that guy or not, but you do know, don't you?
Yuuki: Oh, shut up! Of course, I know. I know that they're_ that they're completely different from us. I well aware of that. They are the beings who hide in the shadows and are the source of legends, and the secret we must protect is their very existence.
With that, Yuuki and I started on our night patrol, but not before stopping by the office of that idiot headmaster who were now forced to call our father.
