2 Weeks Later Oldtown
"How nice of you to wait for us," Visenya said as they reached the wall outside of the city where Aegon and Rhaenys were standing beside their dragon.
"Well, when this owl showed up with a letter from Lord Stark informing me that you two were on your way, I saw it fitting, we started the war together, let us end the war together," Aegon said as he gestured to the owl on his shoulder.
"Dear sister, did you accomplish your plans that you had told Aegon about before leaving us last?" Rhaenys asked kindly.
"Of course, though I must admit I don't care for the idea of sharing him even more now, but it is what it is, once the conquest is over, we will need to stop being so open in our relations," Visenya said with a smirk as Jaehaerys eyes narrowed.
"So, you had planned to get me betrothed to the Regent even before we left the Trident, you naughty, naughty girl," Jaehaerys said before smacking her ass.
"Cousin, we still need to crush this city, then we can have some fun," Aegon said rolling his eyes at their antics.
"Of course, my King, shall I order them to open the city gates?" Jaehaerys said with a smirk.
"Indeed, and if we need to burn the city to the ground, so be it," Aegon said with a smile.
"City of Oldtown, open this gate this instant for the King of Westeros, King Aegon Targaryen, first of his Name," Jaehaerys said loudly after pounding on the door, with the pommel of Excalibur.
"We know, no such king," Was the reply.
"Then prepare for your city to burn," Jaehaerys said coldly at the rebuttal.
"Impossible, this city has survived attacks by wildfire, and regular fire, and our city walls have never been scorched," The voice replied.
"For a city made by Dragon flame, can only be destroyed by that same flame, but against you stands four dragons, named after the four Greatest of the Valyrian 14 flames," Jaehaerys said coldly.
"As if your dragons can hurt us, we will stand…" The voice responded before seemingly conversation started.
"My King, they claim we cannot hurt them since Wildfire has not scorched their walls. Right now, it appears they are deliberating, but could we quickly prove we are to be feared?" Jaehaerys asked walking back to Aegon.
"Is that so, very well, I shall fly Balerion and burn a hole in the Tower in the South, Rhaenys attack the wall at the east, Visenya the wall at the west, and Jaehaerys this wall, but only have your dragons breathe flame for 10 seconds," Aegon said before getting on Balerion and flying over to the harbor.
"Stop, Stop, please, we surrender," The voice from before cried out as they saw the walls of Oldtown burning to dust.
"Pōnta obūljarion ñuha dārys," Jaehaerys said loudly, the words in High Valyrian moving through the air with greater ease than Westeroi words would. 1(Translations at the end!)
"Thank you for not fully burning my city to the ground, your grace, I am Lord Manfred Hightower, and I willingly submit to your power," A man with blue eyes and golden hair said, while kneeling before Aegon.
"Had you not resisted, your city would have no holes, even now you own castle will always be at jeopardy of collapse, just by 20 more seconds of flames," Aegon said coldly.
"Of course, your grace," The man said recognizing that Aegon spoke true.
"We would have surrendered earlier had you not mentioned that heathen worship," Another man said exiting the city.
"And who do you think you are, to mock the gods of Valyria?" Visenya asked coldly.
"I am the High Septon, leader of the worship of the true God, and you are a heretic," The man said boldly.
"And you are a walking dead man, if you insult my queen again," Aegon said coldly.
"That is an abomination, she is your sister, she cannot be your wife, the Seven forbid it," The High Septon said firmly.
"Well, we don't worship your seven, we worship the Gods of the 14 Flames," Rhaenys said angrily.
"Oh, foolish girl, you know nothing, those gods were killed by the Seven, which was seen when their power collapsed," The High Septon said mockingly.
"My King, might I slay this man, who dares insult the 14 flames?" Jaehaerys asked getting mad and seeing that Balerion was looking very pissed.
"Your Grace, please forgive the High Septon, he speaks for the people, and we have long worshiped the seven in all parts of this continent that you have conquered, it would be most wise that you join, least you upset the common people," Lord Hightower said firmly.
"Se izula ampā perzyssy maghagon ābrar, se sīkuda mērī ōdres," Jaehaerys said coldly in High Valyrian.2
"Lēkia, īlon kessa rijībagon se izula ampā, yn tepagon se paktot naejot rijībagon tolie hae pōnta jaelagon," Aegon replied coolly also in Valyrian.3
"Lo kessi vīlībagon īlva kesi ērinagon, se pryjagon mirre pōnta gīmigon, yn īlon daor udrāzma iā dārion rȳ zūgagon mērī," Visenya said firmly 4
"Se pōja ānogar kessa sagon qrimbrōstan syt pōja iderennon," Rhaenys said with fire in her words 5
"Sȳrje, pōnta jorrāelagon daor zālagon tubī," Jaehaerys said reluctantly. 6
"So here is the deal, Lord Hightower, we will not kill you, nor your High Septon, but for this gracious gift, the Seven shall have no power to punish or otherwise harm others for their faiths, is that clear?" Aegon asked coldly.
"What other faiths, there are none in this land?" Lord Hightower asked mockingly.
"The faith of the Old Gods runs strong in the Lands of the North, the faith of the Rhoynar runs strong in the Lands of the Sands, the faith of the Drowned God runs strong in the men of the Western Islands, the faith of Valyria runs strong in the men of the Dragon Islands, do not say no other faith exists," Visenya said coldly.
"Give me your sword Lord Hightower," Jaehaerys said looking at the blade.
"Why, it is my family's blade," Lord Hightower asked confused.
"Give me the crown of the High Septon," Jaehaerys said in turn.
"Why, I do not understand?" Lord Hightower asked confused by the direction of the questions.
"Do as Lord Targaryen said or face my steel," Aegon said coldly, not certain why Jaehaerys needed the two items, but trusting him.
"Very well," Lord Hightower said not wanting to die.
"Thank you, now watch as Balerion, named after our chief god, removes the blessing that Valyria gave your circles, for the Valyrian steel blades give power to their users, and a crown of Valyrian steel indues strength to its wearer, but you have chosen wrong this day, in mocking the chosen of Valyria," Jaehaerys said throwing both the crown and sword in front of Balerion.
"I see Lord Targaryen, Balerion, my friend, Dracarys," Aegon said understanding now why Jaehaerys had ordered what he did.
"NO!" The High Septon cried as he jumped in the way of the flames in hopes to protect his crown, only to burn with the steel,
"Choose a new High Septon, who will kneel before my brother, and accept that peace must be permitted," Visenya said coldly before Lord Hightower bowed, now clearly cowed, and reentered the city to do as commanded.
"Anything more we need to do, before we return to Aegon's Fort, where the High Sorcerer can crown Aegon, officially King of Westeros?" Rhaenys asked kindly.
"I need to go to the citadel, and take all the Valyrian records form there, I doubt the Seven will take our actions kindly for long," Jaehaerys said firmly.
"Very well, we shall join you, for our history must be preserved, but where shall you put the records?" Aegon asked curiously.
"Within the Library at Dragon's Fang, which ancient sorcerers made blood tied to Valyrians, so only Valyrians can access the Library," Jaehaerys said kindly.
"Good, then let us get to it," Aegon said before following Jaehaerys to the Citadel to do as he planned.
Hope you all enjoyed
Yes I am aware that I made the Hightowers a pain, which is because in the story overall they are the cause of a lot of problems, from the Faith Uprising, during the reign of Aenys and Maegor, to the Dance of the Dragons, and in more recent Events, the reason Jorah sold slaves and thus his exile from Westeros. That being said though, not all Hightowers will be evil, like not all Baratheons, Lannisters, etc will be evil.
About the Faith of the Seven, I do not like the faith of the Seven, and they will be a continued problem for House Targaryen until the reign of Aegon the Unworthy, at least. From my understanding of the Faith of the Seven they hate any other religion outside of their own, and have tried to wipe out other faiths before, such as during their invasion of Westeros where they tried to destroy the Old Gods. This will be important as the title of this work would suggest.
If there are any specific characters you want me to kill off, earlier than they died in cannon, or places to burn or be saved, let me know and I will see what I can do.
Reviews are great!
