Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven arrived at the Valley of the Living Rock. It was just a clearing surrounded by a bunch of rocks. No sign of any other people anywhere. Anna looked around in confusion. Was this the right place?
"This is it," said Kristoff, gesturing proudly. "Meet my family!"
"They're… rocks," Anna said.
Kristoff began talking to the rocks as if they were his family. Anna and Olaf stared at him with concerned looks.
"He's crazy," Olaf whispered to Anna. "I'll distract him while you run."
He turned to the rocks. "Hi, Sven's family!" he said loudly, patting one on the "head". "How are you? Looking very good today, I see."
He turned back to Anna. "Why aren't you running?" he whispered.
Anna opened her mouth to speak, but just then, she heard a rumbling noise. Dozens of rocks rolled down the hill into the clearing, and revealed themselves to have round, humanoid bodies.
"They're trolls," Anna said.
"Kristoff!" a female troll said. "You're home!" She turned to Anna. "And he's brought a girl!" Several of the trolls cheered.
The female troll inspected Anna. "Yes, she'll do nicely for our Kristoff," she said.
Anna blushed. "Well, actually, we aren't - I mean - "
The female troll gasped. "Why not?" she asked. "You know, he's a bit of a fixer-upper, but he's a really sweet guy when you get to know him."
"This is not about me!" Kristoff said in frustration. "Look, we've got a real, actual problem here."
"I'll say!" another troll said. "This girl doesn't see what's right in front of her!"
"ENOUGH!" Kristoff shouted. "She's engaged to someone else, okay?!"
The trolls stared at each other and blinked.
"So she's a bit of a fixer-upper," one of them said.
"But everyone can be fixed up with a little bit of love," the female troll said. "Ooh, I think it's time for a wedding!"
The trolls dug a pit and dressed Anna and Kristoff in branches, moss and leaves. But just as one of the trolls was about to marry them off, Anna collapsed into Kristoff's arms.
"She's ice cold," he said.
Grand Pabbie rolled down the hill and came up to inspect Anna. "Princess Anna," he said gravely. "I hoped I would never see you here again."
"Wait, what?" Anna said. "What do you mean, 'again'?"
"Your parents and sister never told you what transpired here all those years ago?" Grand Pabbie asked.
"No," said Anna. "What happened?"
"You were five years old," Grand Pabbie said. "Elsa had just accidentally injured you with her magic. That's how you got that white streak in your hair."
"I was born with that," Anna said.
"No," Grand Pabbie said. "Your parents brought you to me, and I healed you. I erased your memories of Elsa's magic, to keep you safe."
"I dreamed I was kissed by a troll," Anna said. "You were that troll!"
"Yes," Grand Pabbie said. "But I did not kiss you."
"I remember it too," Kristoff said. "I was there. You were the girl I saw them heal!"
"Your life is in grave danger," Grand Pabbie told Anna. "There is ice in your heart put there by your sister. If not removed, you will be frozen solid forever."
Anna gasped in fear, but her fear quickly turned to anger. This was all Elsa's fault. Again. She had tried to bring back summer and make things right with Elsa, and look where it had gotten her.
"I have no sister," she said coldly.
"Can you heal her?" Kristoff asked desperately.
"I'm afraid I cannot," Grand Pabbie said gravely. "If it were her head, it would be easy. But only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart."
"An act of true love," Anna repeated.
"Like a true love's kiss!" the female troll shouted. Several of the trolls mimed kissing each other.
"Anna," said Kristoff, "we've got to get you to Hans."
Kristoff picked up Anna in his arms and mounted Sven. He bid goodbye to his family and began racing down the mountain towards Arendelle, with Olaf trailing behind them.
"Let's go kiss Hans!" Olaf shouted. "Who is this Hans?"
