Ben and Rey walk in from the gardens to head towards the dining hall for the rehearsal dinner. It is going to be a quiet get together, nothing fancy. Perfect for Rey and Ben. If they had their way, they would have already eloped. But knowing their friends and found family, they know they would never have been forgiven if they did this.
They walk inside the ballroom and see an elegant table lined with delicious dishes galore. Finn is the first to greet them. He pulls Rey into a hug and then claps Ben on the shoulder. Ben and Rey follow Finn to the head of the table and take a seat. Smiles from all those they care most about shine at them as they all sit together. The food looks absolutely scrumptious and Rey's mouth waters as she eyes the food. Ben smiles and holds her hand.
The clinking of a glass draws everyone's attention. All eyes fall on Lando Calrissian, former general of the Resistance, leader of the Republic of Freedom, and Ben's uncle. He flashes his debonair smile and addresses the group.
"Before we feast, I would like to start off the toasts. Just with a few words for Ben and Rey," Lando begins.
He turns to face the couple with his drink in hand, smiling at them with a nod. Ben smiles at his uncle and nods back.
"Nothing can stand between you and nothing ever will. I have never seen two people more suited for one another. You are truly a perfect pair and you deserve every happiness," Lando begins.
His eyes look from Rey to Ben as he speaks. Then he lets his eyes rest on his nephew.
"I know your parents would be so proud of you and happy you've found someone who is not only your equal. Someone who sees you for you, regardless of your journey back towards the light," he continues.
Ben smiles at Lando before turning to look at Rey. The love in his eyes makes Rey melt. Lando grins at the couple and turns his attention to the whole group with his glass raised high.
"To Ben and Rey!" he shouts.
"To Ben and Rey!" everyone echoes.
They all drink together and hear another clinking of a different glass. Chewbacca stands up with his glass and turns to face Rey and Ben.
"Huuguughghg aaahnruh wrrhw uugggh raaaaaahhgh huuguughghg aguhwwgggghhh uughghhhgh awgggghhh raaaaaahhgh uughghhhgh aarrragghuuhw huuguughghg huuguughghg aarrragghuuhw raaaaaahhgh hnnnhrrhhh aarrragghuuhw aaaaahnr huurh huuguughghg aarrragghuuhw aaaaahnr," Chewbacca shares happily in his familiar barks and growls.
He raises his glass and takes a big gulp in celebration.
"I'm sorry, I'm still learning Shyriiwook. What did he say?" Jannah asks.
"Well, he said, 'I just want to say I'm so happy Ben is back and that you were able to find each other. And Rey, I'm so happy you have a family at last,'" Finn explains.
Jannah smiles with tears in her eyes. She thrusts her glass high into the air in agreement with the Wookie's words.
"To Ben and Rey Solo!" she exclaims.
"To the Solos!" everyone echoes.
They all take a drink and dig into the glorious banquet before them. Ben and Rey look at one another. A huge grin spreads across Rey's face, making Ben smile widely too.
"What?" he chuckles.
"That's the first time I've heard 'Rey Solo,'" she says softly.
Ben leans forward and kisses her soft, supple lips. He smiles against her lips as she kisses him back.
"I look forward to spending my life with you, Rey Solo," he whispers before kissing her again.
