Chapter 07: First Day

It was Michiru's first day at Junior High, she would be going there for the next 10 months until she would take the entrance exam and make it into U.A.

She was nervous, not just about her first day back at school but taking the entrance exam.

The expectations are high for a school like U.A. but she has 10 months to prepare herself physically and mentally for it.

Luckily she was fit physically when she used to play sports back home, but she would have to mainly focus on school.

The only problem was using her quirk, she can't use it in school or in many other places in public which makes it difficult for her to even improve her powers.

It was like she was wearing heels as a human, she felt slower and not as strong compared to her Beastman form.

Since Shirou is now a Pro maybe he can somehow help her train, and improve her quirk, hopefully.

Michiru was standing in front of the school, she wore a black uniform the school provided, it was different compared to what she used to wear back home.

Seemed bland and basic, but rules are rules. Thought Michiru.

She was told her teacher would introduce her to the class once school started, all she had to do was wait until then.

"You must be Michiru Kagemori." Said an unfamiliar voice.

Michiru turned around to see an older female teacher, she looked like she was in her late 50's, but she wore professional clothes like she was an attorney.

She had a soft smile, despite her rough facial features due to her age, but had long blonde hair that was braided.

"Yes ma'am." Said Michiru as she smiled and bowed to the old staff member.

"I am your teacher Yama Yasashī, but you may call me Mrs. Yasha." Said Yasha.

"It's a pleasure to welcome you here to our school." Said Yasha.

"Thank you, I'm honored to be your student Mrs. Yasha!" Yelled Michiru as she once again bowed, making the old teacher giggle holding her mouth gently, Michiru looked up in confusion.

"Oh you don't have to be so professional, it's your first day here." Said Yasha.

"I want you to feel at home with my students." Said Yasha.

"Oh sorry!" Yelled Michiru as she was slightly embarrassed, holding the back of her head with her arm.

"No don't be, it's okay, I know you want to make a first impression on your first day and you seem like a good kid, just be yourself." Said The teacher as she reached out and gently grabbed Michiru's hand, shaking it, she was kind and welcoming.

"Yes Mrs. Yasha!" Yelled Michiru as she nodded and the teacher once again smiled.

"Now let's go introduce you to the class." Said Mrs. Yasha as she began on leading Michiru into the school, giving her a tour of the school as they walked to her classroom.

Finally once they arrived, Michiru was told to wait outside for a moment as the teacher went into the classroom to give an announcement.

"Alright class I have some news for you today." Said Mrs. Yasha.

The entire classroom could only think of the countless of what it could be.

"Starting today, we'll be having a new student in our class." Said Mrs. Yasha.

Her comment lightened the mood of the class, as they all were flooding her with questions like a tsunami.

"Who is it?!" Asked one student.

"Where are they from?!" Asked another.

"What's his/her quirk?!" Asked yet another.

"Is it a boy or a girl?!" Asked one male student.

"If it's a girl please tell me their single?!" Asked the male student as though he was desperate.

The constant questions that overwhelmed the teacher caused her to unbraid her hair.

Her blond hair suddenly grew long like a whip, hitting her table to catch the attention of the class.

"Settle down class, if you want your questions answered I suggest you ask her yourself." Said the teacher.

The entire classroom became silent.

You may come in now!" Yelled Mrs. Yasha as she waved, signaling for Michiru to come in.

Michiru took a deep breath and opened the door to her new classroom.

To the class, the boys saw a beautiful girl with short black hair and brown eyes, she had an asymmetric bob hairstyle with one side having a strip of her hair curving up. She was athletic for sure, due to her physical shape, but she had a soft smile.

Nearly all the boys in the classroom had nose bleeds just by looking at her.

The girls were excited to get another female student, they wanted to know more about her that's for sure.

She had a decorative backpack with animal and sports pins on it, the female students assumed she was an animal lover and enjoyed sports, which explains why she looked athletic.

To Michiru, the entire class laid eyes on her, she couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

She looked around the classroom seeing different looking people.

Some of them looked normal while others looked not even human.

A girl who had an Afro but was spiky blue hair, a boy who looked like he was made of stone, another girl had cat ears and a catlike tail curling behind her, and there was even a boy who looked like some kind of Crow just like Kuro, he had a black bird head and seemed rather calm, laying his back on his chair in a relaxed position.

Michiru don't know if it was his personality that gave her a weird vibe or if it was just the fact he didn't look impressed.

It reminded her of Shirou when they first met and how he was the first time she was in Anima City.

She smiled, hoping to give at least a good impression on class, but it led to nearly all the boys blushing and bleeding from their noses.

"Everyone this is Michiru Kagemori, she just moved her to Mustafu over a week ago." Said the teacher.

"If you guys have any questions please raise your hand we." Said the teacher.

"We'll spend 30 minutes with you guys getting to know Michiru." Said Mrs. Yasha.

The entire class raised their hands, Michiru didn't know who to call first but she pointed at the cat-looking girl first.

"Hi, my name's Sakura Neko, where are you from?" Asked Neko as her tail curled, her ears and her tail were light brown and with black stripes all over them.

Besides the ears and the tail, she looked normal, but rather energetic.

"Well I lived mainly by the countryside, in a rural town until I moved here with my care taker." Said Michiru.

"Really, what's it like, I've never been there?" Asked Neko,

"It's much more peaceful than here in Mustafu if you ask me." Replied Michiru.

Neko as she giggled at Michiru's joke as she picked out another person to ask.

She then picked out a boy who looked normal, having a black ponytail and brown eyes.

The most obvious thing about him was he was blushing.

"My name is Sasuke Takashi, I was wondering if you were single by any chance?" Asked the boy as he was nervous but the whole class was laughing because of him.

They all knew he was desperate for a girlfriend for a while now and he tried to take a chance with Michiru, but Michiru began to blush as well.

"Oh w-well umm, I'm single but I haven't thought about a relationship yet." Replied Michiru.

The boy seemed crushed but he muttered something to himself that she couldn't hear well from her class laughing.

Michiru then picked out another boy to answer a question, he looked like some kind of porcupine with spikes all over his back.

"The names Naruto Tsubaka, what's your quirk?" Asked Tsubaka.

Michiru didn't really know a good name for her power at first but she remembered the name that was shown from her new ID.

"My quirk is called Beast Factor, I'm able to transform parts of my body into different parts from other animals and even reshape them, but in order to use my quirk I have to transform myself into my beast form." Said Michiru.

Her skin suddenly turned to a light brown as she grew fur all over her body while her hands and feet turned dark brown as she became a beastman, her blue tail popped from behind out of nowhere and so did her ears.

Michiru's eyes turned from brown to a dark teal as a dark brown patch appeared on her face, her hair matched the same color of her tail with the ends of it turning dark brown.

Some of the class was fascinated with her quirk seeming that it had a multiple range of abilities, some thought it was a mixed quirk from her parents while others weren't surprised since they've already seen different transformation quirks.

The only person that didn't show much emotion was the Bird headed boy in the back, he was holding his chin as he looked at Michiru.

Michiru knew he was just like Shirou but the look he had, was it curiosity?

Or was he pondering at something she said?

Only way to find out… Michiru then picked the same boy in the back as all eyes were on him.

"My name is Fukimage Tokoyami, I'm curious, how does it feel to have a quirk like yours?" Asked Tokoyami.

Michiru didn't expect a question but she had mixed feelings about it.

Michiru's smile disappeared as she seemed somewhat sad even concerning the teacher.

She turned back into a human as she began to answer Tokoyami's question.

"I know that when you first realize that you first get a quirk, you're supposed to be excited but I was the opposite actually." Replied Michiru.

Her answer surprised the entire class, even the bird headed boy.

Michiru thought back to everything that happened to her ever since she became a Beastman, when Nazuna was taken, her leaving her parents, the Anti-Beastman, and her sole purpose of going to Anima City.

She couldn't tell her full past, but she could explain in a way that makes sense.

"The area I lived in was filled with people who hated quirks like mine, when me and my friend got our quirks a while back, some men showed up once after school and took her, I could only think that I was next, but my care taker swore to protect me until i decided i was ready so we left, and after a while, we came here to start over." Said Michiru.

"People who had mutant or transformation quirks where I lived were hated and sometimes hunted, the unthinkable happened to me and my friend." Said Michiru.

"I only wished that we were quirkless or even had emitter quirks so that way we could live without fear." Said Michiru.

Her story saddened the classroom, they felt pity for her.

They remembered flashbacks to certain events and to how she felt in her hometown, knowing people who were different were discriminated against and taken away for being or looking different .

"But I had to accept it, not all people are created equal and because of quirks, anger and fear can spread like wildfire in this world because of them." Said Michiru.

"That's why I learned and controlled my quirk so I can use it to become a hero because I want to protect people so they don't have to be afraid." Said Michiru.

Her fists tightened as she continued to speak with mixed emotion to the boy.

"So when you asked me how I felt about my quirk?" Asked Michiru.

"I feel lucky to have it now, because I have the power and strength to save others, so I can do it not just for the innocents, but for my friend Nazuna, and so I can stop the injustice in this world." Said Michiru, her mood changed quickly but she found courage in herself after everything that had happened.

She learned so much this past year being in Anima City, being with Shirou, and how the world felt about Beastman.

The class felt inspired after Michiru's comment, but after the mood changed, their teacher stepped in after seeing the look in Michiru's face, hoping to brighten the mood.

"That is an honorable goal Ms. Kagemori, I'm sure you all want to ask her more questions but I think we should finish this up at the end of class." Said Mrs. Yasha.

The whole class groaned to Mrs. Yasha, hoping to have some free time getting to know the new girl but it was stolen from them.

"Why don't you go take a seat over there Ms. Kagemori, I'll give you a few minutes to get situated." Said Mrs. Kami as she pointed to an empty seat in the corner right by Tokoyami.

Michiru felt awkward after the boy's question and was nervous about seating next to him.

"Yes Mrs. Kami." Said Michiru.

She went to go sit down as some of her fellow students were anxious to speak to her in person, even the ones next to her.

She had just sat down when Tokoyami began speaking to her.

"I apologize for asking that question, I didn't think it would offend you or bring back bad memories, It's my fault." Said Tokoyami.

Michiru was surprised hearing his apology, but at least she knew this wasn't at all heartless.

"It's okay there's no need to apologize, but I appreciate it though." Said Michiru.

"You're not the only one you know." Said Tokoyami.

Michiru looked at him in confusion at what he meant.

"I was scared about my quirk at first because of its power." Replied Tokoyami, as he knew she was confused.

"Really, what is your quirk?" Asked Michiru in curiosity.

"My quirk is called Dark Shadow, a shadowy being that's within my body that I can materialize and dematerialize at will, say hello Dark Shadow." Replied Tokoyami.

A stream of shadow appeared out of Tokoyami's stomach like an umbilical cord.

The shadow's head looked exactly like Tokoyami's head but the form was all darkness, and the shadows eyes were bright yellow.

"Hi Michiru!" Yelled Dark Shadow as it waved to Michiru as she smiled and greeted the shadow back.

It was silent for a moment until Dark Shadow went back into Tokoyami's body just as class started.

Shortly after school, Michiru walked out after talking to some of the students in her class, she noticed Tokoyami walking out by himself so she caught up with him.

"Hey wait up!" Yelled Michiru.

Tokoyami was surprised to see Michiru wanting to walk with him, even after some of those awkward moments back in class.

Something felt different about her though, not many people talked to him since he was so reserved, it's rare for someone to talk to him.

"I thought you were gonna talk to some of our classmates." Said Tokoyami.

"I did, I got to know most of them but not you though." Replied Michiru.

"It's only fair that I ask you a question, since you asked me one." Said Michiru.

Tokoyami pondered what Michiru said, holding his beak for a moment.

"I see, what do you want to know?" Asked Tokoyami,

"When you talked about your quirk with me, why were you afraid about your quirk?" Asked Michiru.

"Dark Shadow's power depends on the amount of light in an area, when it's daytime, its power isn't as strong but I have more control, but when it's dark." Said Tokoyami as he hesitated to finish that sentance.

"It's more powerful and you can't control it as well, I see." Said Michiru.

She already knew what he was gonna say after comparing his powers in light and darkness.

Tokoyami decided to tell Michiru a part of her past no one else knew except his parents, he didn't know why, but he felt it was the right thing to do after what Michiru said back in school.

"When it's dark, I have to stay calm because if I don't, I could lose control and Dark Shadow could go berserk." Said Tokoyami.

"It's happened once when I was younger but it wasn't as strong, my parents got hurt because of it." Said Tokoyami as he struggled to say what he saying.

"They weren't mad or upset, they were just worried about me after Dark Shadow calmed down but I blamed myself for it." Said Tokoyami.

Michiru felt pity for Tokoyami, they both suffered in the past, having fears over their quirks, but it made them determined to do better.

She couldn't imagine having to keep such a quirk in constant check.

"I'm sorry I didn't know." Said Michiru, having felt bad for asking that.

"It's okay, it's only fair since you told us your past." Said Tokoyami.

"True you know what, why don't we exchange numbers." Said Michiru as she decided it would be the nice thing to do, since they just met, they could talk a lot more.

Even though she's got 10 months until the entrance exam and she wouldn't see many of these people again, she wanted to think they could be friends.

"Wait you don't have to-" Said Tokoyami as he blushed with his eyes widened, this never happened to him before so he didn't know what to say.

"It's fine trust me, here, it's up to you so just text me if you want to." Said Michiru.

"I have to go, I can't miss the bus, see you tomorrow!" Yelled Michiru.

She ran off after giving Tokoyami a slip of paper with her number, Tokoyami had no clue what to say after what just happened.

Did I just get my first number from a girl? Asked Tokoyami in disbelief with himself.

Michiru nearly missed the bus to get home, luckily she ran since she stayed to talk with some of her classmates after school.

She would have to wait on the bus for a while until it was her stop, so she pulled out her phone and put her earbuds in.

She scrolled through her music list and pressed shuffle, a minute later she heard someone talking.

"Mind if I sit here?" Asked a girl.

Michiru looked up from her phone, seeing a girl who looked her age.

She had short purple hair, wearing a school uniform and had earphone jacks attached to her ears.

"No you can." Said Michiru as she moved her bag out of the way so the purple haired girl could sit next to her.

The girl noticed Michiru had earbuds on so she tapped her shoulder, catching her attention and sparked a conversation.

"What are you listening to?" Asked the girl.

"Night Running, wanna hear it?" Asked Michiru as she always loved this song.

"Sure." Said the girl.

Michiru handed the purple haired girl one of her earbuds and started the song back to the beginning.

The song was calm but upbeat, it was the song Michiru and Nazuna used to listen to, she was glad the song existed here.

"Not bad actually, loving the beat though." Said The girl.

"What do you listen to?" Asked Michiru.

"Oh, a mix of everything, mainly rock though but I also play instruments and stuff so…"

"That's cool, I wish I knew how to play the guitar or something!" Yelled Michiru which made the girl blush as she held her earphone jacks, tapping them together constantly.

"Yeah both my parents are musicians, so I learned from them." Said the girl.

"Lucky." Said Michiru.

She then noticed the purple haired girl look down for a moment.

"Eh, they're both musicians but I want to be a hero though, you know." Said the girl.

Michiru was surprised to here the girls dream of being a hero, it was nice getting to meet someone similar interests

"No way me too!" Yelled Michiru.

"Wait really?" Asked The purple haired girl as she looked up, surprised at Michiru's reply.

"Yeah, I'm taking the entrance exam for U.A.?" Asked purple haired girl.

"Yeah I don't know how it's gonna go though, I'm nervous about it." Said the girl.

Michiru then put her hand on the girl's shoulder, they were now directly looking at each other.

"Hey, I believe you can do it, you just have to be confident in yourself, plus we got 10 months to prepare." Said Michiru.

"Your right, thanks ehh, what's your name?" Asked the girl.

Michiru laughed, completely forgetting to introduce herself to the girl.

"Oh sorry, I'm Michiru Kagemori, you?" Asked Michiru.

"Kyoka Jiro, it's nice to meet you." Said Jiro.

Jiro was quiet for a moment and made a decision, pulling out her phone.

"I know we just met but wanna exchange numbers?" Asked Jiro.

Michiru smiled at Jiro's question and pulled out a sheet of paper, writing her number and handed it to Jiro and she did the same.

"Of course, it's nice getting to meet new people, especially since I just moved here." Said Michiru.

"Wait, you just moved here?" Asked Jiro in surprise.

"Yeah I moved here abo-" Said Michiru before she noticed that the bus had just stopped and realized it was her stop.

"Oh shoot, this is my stop, I have to go!" Yelled Michiru as gathered her things.

"I'll talk to you later!" Yelled Michiru.

Jiro waved bye to Michiru as she left the bus.

It was nice that Jiro met someone who has some things in common like her.

Jiro was always nervous when she talked about playing music, but Michiru was happy to meet her, they had some things in common and she wanted to be friends with her.

Michiru got back to the house and noticed Shirou was already here.

"Hey Shirou, thought you weren't coming back till later." Said Michiru, a bit surprised he was back early.

"I got off early, I wanted to see how you're doing, since it's your first day at school too." Said Shirou.

"It was great actually, I got some people's phone numbers today." Replied Michiru with a smile.

"That's nice, what do you want for dinner?" Asked Shirou.

"Good question give me a sec." Said Michiru as she went to her room as she was greeted by Kuro who was resting by her window.

Kuro began cawing, greeting Michiru home as she put her bags up.

Michiru came back into the kitchen, seeing Shirou going through his phone in an attempt to find a decent place to order food.

Kuro flew into his shoulder as Michiru looked over his shoulder as well, looking at their options so they could decide what to eat.

"What about Soba?" Asked Shirou.

"Sure, it sounds good." Replied Michiru.

"I know you want to train for the entrance exam, if you want, I can help you." Said Shirou.

Shirou's offer made Michiru's eyes widen, she was surprised to hear it from him.

"Wait really?" Asked Michiru in surprise.

"Come on, I'm your care taker, you're my responsibility and I'm supposed to take care of you, of course I want to help you." Said Shirou.

"True true, I just thought you would be busy with hero work." Said Michiru.

"I can always make time to help you." Said Shirou as he put his hand on Michiru's shoulder as she looked up to him.

Their relationship had changed so much since they first met, they had their ups and downs but it worked out in the end.

Michiru hugged Shirou, taking him by surprise at first but he hugged her back.

"Thank you Shirou." Said Michiru.

Shirou smiled and started patting her head, as she was giggling because of it.

"Your welcome, now let's get some food." Said Shirou.

"Didn't think you needed to eat." Said Michiru, teasingly.

"Why is that?" Asked Shirou.

"You're an immortal Beastman who lived for how long now?" Asked Michiru, still teasing.

"Yeah, but just because I can't die doesn't mean I don't get hungry." Said Shirou with a smirk.

Michiru laughed a bit at that remark.

"I suppose." Said Michiru as they both share a smile.
