WARNING

There are mentions of rape and sexual assault, as well as injuries sustained from it.

This chapter was incredibly hard to write and maneuver around, its contents may be sensitive to some people. I really did try to be mindful of others' experiences while writing this but I am not very familiar with the concept, so please don't hesitate to tell me if something is offensive, overtly triggering, or hurtful. I will remove it.

Caseys mind was elsewhere for the remainder of shift. He knew something was up with Sylvie he just couldn't put his finger on it.

Casey was never one to snoop- usually- but he found himself sneaking around Foster at the station, trying to get in on one of her and Kidd's conversations.

He grimaced at the thought of breaking Sylvie's privacy and luckily before he could go too much farther, he received a call.

Will's ID lit up the screen and Casey scurried off into his quarters to answer the call.

"Hey Will, everything alright?"

He heard shuffling on the other end and a door closed. "Hey Matt, actually no, I'm calling about Sylvie. I think you should get down here, I will explain once you're here."

He knew it. Something was up with Sylvie and by the tone of Will's voice, it was bad. He stood in eerie silence, the color drained off his face as he tried to fathom the idea of Sylvie being in some sort of danger.

"Matt?" Will asked, breaking the silence.

"Y- Ya, I'm on my way." Casey tried to clear his head, tripping over his feet as he sprinted out of his quarters.

He didn't bother telling the Chief and ran straight past the common room. His boots stomped down the hallway and caught the attention of the rest of the team, who were eating lunch in the kitchen.

Their eyes all shot up at the noise and Casey flying through the station. "What was that about?" Joe mumbled. He threw a look at Gallo who merely shrugged and returned to his sloppy joes.

Foster was leaning back on the counter and perked up at the commotion, she swallowed a lump in her throat, knowing where Casey was headed.

Casey was surprised to have gotten to med in one piece. His driving was veering on the reckless side and he barely had time to put on a jacket.

The cool march air whipped his face and dried his throat as he slammed his car door closed, pushing past people and into the ER.

"Matt!" Will yelled from over by the nurses' station. He motioned him over.

"Hey, wh-where's Sylvie, is she ok? What happened?" Matt stumbled over his words panting like he had just finished a marathon.

Will led him through the hall, knocking softly on a dark wooden door. Natalie looked up and met their eyes through the glass, nodding slightly to let them know that they could come in.

Matt scurried anxiously behind Will. The sight that met his eyes was almost too much to bear. Sylvie was curled up on the bed, bruises littering her torso, legs, and arms. She looked so small wrapped up in the sheets. Almost too small, as if she had lost weight. And she had a small bandage on her forehead, starting to peel off from sweat.

Natalie motioned that she was going to wake Sylvie up and Will pulled Matt into the hallway.

"Will, what the hell happened?" Matt let out a gasp when they left the room.

"Well as you know Sylvie was brought in for a concussion. Natalie was going to send her home but-" Will swallowed harshly before continuing "Sylvie has injuries consistent with sexual assault and rape."

Rape? Did he hear that right? A chill ran down his spine.

What kind of monster would do this to Sylvie? The sweetest person alive. PIC of station 51, loved by all, his friend, his-

He felt sick to his stomach, enveloped in anger and resentment towards this man.

"Matt.." Will shook him out of his craze

Casey had subconsciously clenched his fist, digging hard with his nails into his skin. When he opened his hands, small red dents had formed in his skin.

The door to his left creaked open and Natalie peeked her head out. Sylvie was awake.

They both moved into the room, Matt slightly more hesitant this time. He didn't want to be hesitant. He wanted to be her rock, her anchor, but seeing her in the hospital bed made him wince and retreat slightly.

"Sylvie," Will spoke now, his voice deep and smooth, he glanced at Matt and moved to let him sit next to her.

He took the seat with caution, careful to give her the space she needed.

Sylvie sat up now, the rest and painkillers doing their job. Matt reached his hand out and Sylvie flinched slightly at the motion making Matt wince uncomfortably.

But he kept his arm steady and she took his hand, twirling her fingers in his. At the physical contact with him, she broke down.

She leaned closer in, burrowing her face in his neck. Her body shook with sobs, tears sliding down her pink cheeks.

Matt transitioned into the bed, curling his arm around her fragile body. He noticed just how thin she had gotten.

Will and Natalie took this as a sign to leave, Matt and Sylvie now cuddled together on the bed.

Matt's captain's shirt was stained with tears. He didn't mind. He burrowed in closer, sobs racking her body in pulsing movements.

This man- whoever he was -would pay. Matt would make sure of it.

UGHHH I hate when the show goes on break, I'm stuck waiting for the next episode. So while we are all waiting, I will try and update more frequently.

I am fairly new to this platform and would love to make some friends, don't be afraid to reach out with a question about my writing, or just to talk about things going on in your life. It's helpful to spill to a stranger sometimes and I have been told that I'm an excellent listener. :)
