Eames had his head resting against Goren's chest.
- We had so many emotions today Bobby! Since we found each other!
Alex felt good against Bobby, she could hear his heartbeat, and the sound was so sweet to her ears. And tomorrow we're going to get Molly! Eames looked up, smiling. And I'm going to get to know her at last!
If you only knew how much she wants to get to know you, all she does is talk about you!
He couldn't tell her that!
Because she would know that he had told her niece about her, and that would intrigue him.
Goren could not take his eyes off her face, off her smile.
She was so pretty.
If he dared...
But no, he knew he was incapable of doing what he had in mind.
He was far too shy to dare to kiss her.
She was much too precious for him, and he respected her much too much!
Eames in his eyes, was like a porcelain doll, and that with the least awkward gesture it would break it.
And that, he forbade himself!
He brought his hand to her cheek, caressing it.
- Yes, it has been hard these last days! But you...you've been there for me, as always! He reached for one of her golden locks and wrapped it around his fingers. Thank you for everything Alex!
Eames shook his head in denial.
Goren didn't have to thank him.
It was perfectly normal what she had done!
She knew very well that Goren was incapable of hurting anyone!
And especially not such a thing!
The son was not the father! And the sins of the father should not be transferred to him!
She put her hand on his, intertwining their fingers.
- Why did you leave? Alex's voice had just broken. She was so afraid of what he would say. Did I do something wrong?
How could she believe for a second that she had done anything wrong?
It was simply impossible coming from him!
The one who had done wrong was him and not her.
- Alex...
Goren gently took Eames' face in his hands, looking into her big hazel eyes, which shone with a strange flame.
His face was very close to hers.
She felt Goren's breath, which made her shiver and close her eyes.
He brought his face close to hers.
His lips were so close to hers.
Alex couldn't breathe, waiting for him to kiss her.
She was waiting for that!
"Ding, dong."
Goren and Eames jumped at the sound of the ringing, pulling away from each other as if caught in the act.
Goren was embarrassed and had his hand behind his neck, blushing.
He followed Eames with his eyes, who was heading for the front door.
Eames took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure.
When her heartbeat started to return to a little bit of normal, she opened the door.
Rollins was there, standing in the doorway.
- I came by to see how you were doing! You gave me a big scare in court!
Alex smiled.
Rollins was a cold person at first glance, someone you couldn't quite figure out and couldn't quite communicate with.
But gradually, when you got to know her, she was warm and someone you could trust.
Amanda in this ordeal had been very human with her.
She was very supportive.
And she was able to bond with her.
- That's nice of you! Do you want to come in for five minutes?
Rollins heard footsteps, and his gaze went to where the noise was coming from.
It was Goren!
He was walking in circles.
She could see him getting up, sitting down, picking up his phone, putting it down.
He kept doing this.
Amanda smiled inwardly.
She looked over at Eames, who was smiling warmly at her, but whose cheeks were still flushed.
Had she come at a bad time?
He was still making sense, and Eames was blushing like a child caught in the act.
Something had happened between them!
She would have gladly accepted Eames' invitation, but she didn't want to disturb them.
After what they had been through, they had a right to enjoy their peace and quiet.
- I just came by to see how you were doing! She leaned over to Alex, whispering in his ear. Did you tell him how you felt?
Alex jumped up, pulled away and blushed harder.
She glanced over at Goren, worried that he might have heard what Amanda had said.
Goren was pacing back and forth, and he didn't seem to hear what had been said.
She was relieved.
She turned her attention back to Rollins, and nodded.
- What are you waiting for? Alex did not know what to say.
How to tell him, how to explain.
But she was afraid, afraid of how she felt, afraid that if she told him how she felt about him, he would leave her again.
And she didn't want to lose him a second time!
Rollins saw a great sadness on Eames' face.
- Listen to Alex! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! If you don't tell him! You will never be what he feels!
Amanda was right!
But she was so afraid.
Scared of getting hurt again.
- I'm going to go! Get up the courage and tell him everything! Rollins turned his attention to Goren, who had just sat down and picked up a book, pretending to flip through it, because it was upside down. He glanced in their direction.
Rollins is holding back his laughter.
What an idiot!
Like I didn't understand your trick!
- Goodbye Goren! He poked his head out of his book, waving at her. Amanda had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. The name's Alex!
Alex nodded.
The door had just closed on Rollins.
Eames heard Goren's footsteps coming toward her.
Her heart began to beat violently.
Get a grip! Will you!
Alex could not face him, not at this moment, because he would have understood everything!
He was reading her like an open book.
- Alex?
In Goren's voice was a mixture of questioning and worry.
Why wasn't she facing him?
What could Rollins have said to her?
- Was there something wrong?
Had Rollins said something about her that made Eames not want to look at him anymore?
Alex took a deep breath, trying to calm her heartbeat.
She turned around, and found herself face to face with his torso.
It's true, he was big, even very big!
And that every time it was his chest that she saw first and not his face.
But a chest or it was very pleasant to tighten.
She blushed violently at this idea that had just crossed her head.
She had to pull herself together.
Calm down my dear, or he will understand everything!
Do you want to make him run away?
No, then calm down!
- No, everything is fine! What are you thinking?
Alex walked towards the sofa where she sat down, without daring to look at him.
Goren followed her, silently.
He remained standing, looking at her.
What was she hiding?
And what could these two have said to each other to make Alex so upset.
He had tried to listen, to hear what was said, but he had seen that Rollins had understood her game, just by the little smile she had on her lips.
Moreover, he had realized too late, that the book he was holding and therefore he made believe he was reading, was upside down.
He had burned himself.
Alex didn't dare look at Goren, who was looking at her with his arms crossed over his chest.
She knew what it meant!
She wanted to tell him...To say what was in her heart...But it was too hard!
- Bobby...
Goren came to sit by her side, took her hand and clasped it in his.- What's wrong, Alex? He looked at her with concern. You know you can tell me anything!
Yes, Alex knew that she could tell him anything.
Well, almost...
- I...
And then no! It was too hard!
Because this was totally different, it was her feelings, and it was way too hard.
And she was afraid...so afraid...
Scared of her feelings, scared of his rejection.
Afraid of losing him again.
But that look he gave her, made her want to tell him everything.
Alex jumped to his feet, which surprised Goren.
- It's getting late and we have to sleep! We mustn't forget that we'll be looking for Molly tomorrow!
Goren was disappointed.
What had Eames been trying to tell him?
- Yes, you're right!
Reluctantly and resignedly, he saw Eames rush to her room.
On the threshold, she turned, smiling at him.
- Good night, Bobby!
My God, hold me back!
If I listened to myself, I would catch her and take her in my arms and kiss her.
But he couldn't! Shouldn't!
Why couldn't he have the courage to tell her once and for all how he felt about her!
After all, he had come to New York for that!
And why did he look like a teenager in front of her?
Never in his life had he been like this with a woman. She was the only one!
- Good night, Alex!
