Power Rangers Mystic Force

Broken Hearts

Chapter Seven

In the underworld, Koragg could feel the world above getting colder by the minute. As his senses went on full alert, he was truly curious about who or what was causing this and why. Peering through the darkness, he noticed a certain vampire queen didn't appear. No matter where he looked, Necrolai was nowhere to be found.

With the wave of his hand, an image from above phased into view. There he spotted the vampire queen making her way into the forest with some Hidacs right behind her.

"The hag has finally become impatient… this should be interesting," Koragg bellowed.

Silence is all that welcomed Udonna after her explanation. The rangers and Claire tried to come to terms with what they were told. Udonna noticed a mixture of expression across everyone's face. From anger to sadness all the way to despair, she couldn't blame them. It wasn't the easiest of stories to tell, but work still needed to be done.

Picking up a few large and small flasks, Udonna made her way over to the cauldron. Taking a deep breath, she scooped out a bit of the white liquid with her large wood spoon and carefully pour the contents into each flask.

The moment she was done, the cauldron filled it self back up with a green liquid. Soon an image appeared within the cauldron, it was that of Daggeron standing in front of a large tree.

"I have found the spot to conduct the spell I'm prepping it now." Daggeron said.

"That's great we're done here as well the potion is ready. So where is the spot?" Udonna asked.

"Remember the large tree deep within the forest with the vast trunk that looked over other trees?" Daggeron asked.

"Yeah… I can't believe its still there." Udonna replied.

The both of them chuckled, but their eyes held sadness between them. Neither one of them could say a word, for it would only bring more despair between them.

Just as Daggeron was about to say another word, a noise caught his attention. Looking away to the right, his eyes narrowed.

"Whats wrong?" Udonna asked.

Keeping her eyes on the disruption, Udonna could see his golden aura glistening.

"I've sent my mystic carpet to come pick you up…. be safe." Daggeron said, whispering the last part.

Udonna wanted to say something, but Daggeron ran out of sight before she had a chance. But before the image faded, a familiar vampire appeared.

"Necrolai…." Udonna muttered.

It was only a matter of time before the Underworld caught on to what was happening. This only meant one thing: it was time to speed up their plans. For right now, they needed to reach Daggeron. But as Udonna went to move from the cauldron, a strong pounding sensation stopped her in her tracks. Her eyes lost focus as the world seemed to spin out of control. She grabbed a hold of the cauldron to steady herself. Looking down, her eyes widen as the rim of the cauldron turned white.

"No… not now, " Udonna whispered.

Staggering around the cauldron, talking deep breaths, Udonna was trying her best to clear her mind for she knew if she didn't Necrolai wouldn't be the only thing they would have to deal with.

Claire looked to the rangers who were still sitting on the couch while Nick sat on the ledge of the window. While it was hard to hear Udonna's story, she was glad that she told it. With a nod, Claire made her way over to Nick, as she needed to have a talk with her cousin.

Laying a hand on his shoulder, Nick's eyes wandered up from the window and looked directly at Claire.

"…. I know its hard for us and even for our friends but we can't mope around we have a job to do." Claire said.

"Your right… its just life sucks sometimes." Nick replied.

Jumping to his feet, he gave Claire a big hug before walking over to their friends. Claire nodded with a smile as she went to join Udonna by the cauldron. It was strange she sounded just like her aunt for a moment. Perhaps she was finally rubbing off on her.

Taking a deep breath, Nick stood there as Madison, Vida, Charlie, and Xander approached him.

"You alright mate?" Xander asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine now." Nick replied.

"Good, I'm glad," Madison asked.

"Yeah, because we're family…" Charlie trailed off

"And family sticks together." Vida finished.

Nick could only nod. He was truly glad to have friends like them.

"Lets do this," Nick said.

Back at the cauldron, Claire noticed Udonna refused to meet her eyes. No matter how many times she tired, her aunt would turn away from her.

"Udonna, are you…" Claire tried to say.

"Claire we've got a problem." Udonna interrupting her.

"How can we help?" Nick asked.

Udonna glanced over to the rangers and Claire before looking back at the cauldron.

"Daggeron found a place to conduct the sealing spell it's by a gigantic tree that looms over all the others deep within the forest. But it seems he has run into a problem…. Necrolai." Udonna finished.

"Say no more we're already gone," Vida said.

As the rangers ran over to the core shoots, Claire's eyes widen when she noticed the black cauldron was now white. The moment she laid her hand over Udonna's, her aunt grab it and stared at her intently. Claire could see that an inner struggle must going on with her aunt. For Udonna's eyes kept flashing from an icy green to its normal state.

Nick stopped before jumping down the core shoot, leaving Madison and Xander to do the same. Vida and Charlie had already gone ahead. The strange feeling he felt once before washed over him again, but this time it was stronger. It also didn't help that an intense cold suddenly filled the air. He soon noticed Maddy and Xander shivering, which made Nick turn around. His eyes narrowed as the colors of green and yellow around the cauldron now held a pale, icy white tint.

As the Ice crystals trickled across the floor in their direction and Nick let his fiery aura glisten, preventing it from getting any further. His eyes then looked over to his mother who seemed to have a firm grip on Claire who refused to break eyes contact with her.

"Whoa…." Xander replied.

"Hmm, Xander, go join the others, Madison…"

"I'm with you." she replied.

"Good." Nick said.

Xander nodded as he jumped down from the Core shoot and zoomed off to catch up with Vida and Charlie. Leaving Nick and Madison to deal with Udonna.
