My mother teaches me bullfighting
"Are any of these chapter titles gonna make sense?" Annabeth asks
"Probably not." Percy shrugs
We tore through. . .on the gas.
"Now, that's my kind of driving," Ares grins, wickedly
"Yeah, until you end up in my infirmary," Apollo grumbles
"With your bike in my shop," Hephaestus grunts
Every time there. . .shag-carpet pants.
"Shag-carpet pants?" Connor asks, exchanging grins.
"Absolutely not." Katie interrupts. The Stolls brothers pout, disappointed and Connor shakes his head.
"Travis tell your girlfriend to stop being so me-an." He whines
Travis and Katie turn red.
"He is not my -"
"She is not my -"
They both start before glaring at each other.
"Uh - huh." Chris says, raising an amused eyebrow.
But, not, the. . . wet barnyard animal.
"Pfff- barnyard animal."
"Thanks, Perce." Grover rolls his eyes.
"Anytime, buddy."
All I could. . .know each other?"
Everyone bursts out laughing at Percy's awkward wording.
"Really, Percy?" Travis sniggers.
Percy flips him off from where he's buried his burning face in the pillow, "Shut uuup."
Grover's eyes flitted. . .Watching me?"
"Definitely a stalker," Connor says. Grover just sighs.
"Keeping tabs on. . .am your friend."
"Always," Grover nods.
Percy grins, "If I can deal with you that long,"
Grover rolls his eyes, again, but grins, too.
"Urn. . .what are. . .is a donkey -"
Grover gave an irritated bleat and shoved Percy's arm as he grinned, "Donkey," He grumbled, as others around him laughed.
"See, I would say sorry, but," Percy fake winced, "I'm kinda not,"
Grover let out. . .an irritated bleat.
"Pft. You made him irritated so often that you thought it was his laugh?" Chris sniggers.
Percy grins, "Yup. Sure did."
"Goat!" he cried. . .the waist down."
"You just said it didn't matter," Beckendorf raises an eyebrow and Grover groans.
"You just said it didn't matter."
"See?"
"Yeah, but he doesn't count," Grover grumbles
"What? Why not?" Percy protests
"Because. I said,"
"Blaa-ha-ha. . .such an insult!"
"Yeah like Coach Hedge," Leo sniggers, and the group from 2009 (and Clarisse) grins.
"Whoa. Wait. Satyrs. . .a myth, Percy?
"No," Poseidon mutters, darkly.
Was Mrs. Dodds. . .a Mrs. Dodds!"
"Not important," Rachel says.
"Of course." "Then. . .be perfectly obvious.
"It was," Hermes points out.
"Not when I just found out my best friend was a fury," Percy grumbles, causing Grover to bleat, irritatedly, and the others to laugh again.
"I am not a fury,"
"We put Mist. . .who you are."
"'Cause you're a terrible liar," Percy reiterates in a sing-song voice.
"Who I - wait. . .on our tail.
The tension rose back up in the room.
"Percy," my mom. . .the donkey comment.
"'Course I was," Grover grumbles, but there's no heat behind it.
"Just the Lord. . .blood-thirstiest minions."
"Hades!" Persephone yells as others yell, "Grover!"
"Sorry," Grover says, blushing.
Hades just frowns, "This is the future. I have no idea why I'm after the boy, don't yell at me,"
"Grover!" "Sorry, Mrs. Jackson. . .something this weird.
"Right," Percy snorts, "'Cause I definitely haven't had weirder dreams than this,"
My mom made. . . white picket fences.
The Greeks grin, cheering as they recognize Camp.
"Where are we. . .to send you,"
"The only safe place for demigods," Katie murmurs, and the kids from the future exchange glances. Even though Camp Half-Blood would always be the place they favored (besides the Romans), it was arguable that Camp Jupiter was relatively safer, taking into consideration the life expectancy rates.
"The place you . . . You're in danger."
"Yeah, but how was he supposed to know that? Nobody told him anything," Leo shakes his head, thinking of the incident at the Grand Canyon before sighing. Yeah, he knew how that felt.
"Exactly!" Percy cries.
"Because some old ladies cut yarn."
"Yes!" Everyone cried.
"Those weren't old. . .about to die,"
The room inhales at the reminder.
"Grover! You're gonna freak him out again, and isn't that why he ditched you in the first place?" Thaliascolds and Grover blushes.
"Sorry, Perce,"
"It's alright,"
"Whoa. You said. . .Not you, you."
"Uhm. Huh?" Jason asks
"Yeah, I'm lost too," Frank says
"Well, come one," Percy grins, "Keep up,"
"Boys!" My mom. . .that?" I asked.
"That's a good question," Apollo says, nervously
"We're almost there," . . .to kill me.
"No, really?" Annabeth asks, sarcastically, and Percy sticks his tongue out at her.
Then I thought. . .our car exploded.
"Yikes," Hephaestus grunts.
I remember feeling. . .and said, "Ow."
"Yeah," Thalia snorts, " Ow ,"
"I mean, it did hurt," Percy shrugs
"Percy!" My mom. . .the only explanation.
"Zeus!" Poseidon yells.
"This is the future , besides, for all we know, he could've done something wrong!"
"He has no idea what's going on," Demeter points out, rolling her eyes, "It's a good thing you're not the god of brains,"
Zeus opens his mouth to retaliate, but Poseidon cuts him off and keeps reading.
We'd been blasted. . .big motionless lump.
"I just wanna know how we didn't hear it," Annabeth frowns, causing the others to do the same.
"Yeah, you guys were right by the border, that doesn't make any sense,"
"Grover!" He was. . .you to die!
"I can't tell whether that was a compliment or insult," Grover mutters.
". . .Both?" Percy asks
Then he groaned "Food," and I knew there was hope.
"The one way to tell if your satyrs okay or not, I guess," Hermes sniggers as the others laugh.
"Percy," My mother. . .he had horns.
"No," Poseidon whispers.
"Is that the Minotaur?" Frankasks, nervously, but nobody answers.
I swallowed hard. . . that big tree?"
"Hey, it's me," Thalia says.
The Gods, still wondering as to why she was here now, and most the futures, who didn't know the story behind that, looked at her confused, but she didn't elaborate.
"What?" Another flash. . .you're coming too."
"She can't," Artemis murmurs
Her face was. . .me carry Grover."
Athena eyes Percy, making a few mental notes.
"Food!" Grover moaned, a little louder.
Nobody laughed this time, the tension rising in the room once again. They knew it'd be like this a lot in the future, as they continued to read - monsters that Percy would face and, even though they knew he would survive, it was still terrifying.
The man with. . .looked like horns. . .
Percy's friends swallow nervously.
"He doesn't want. . .Come on, Mom."
Personal loyalty , Athena thought. Wasn't that quite an unfortunate flaw to have. She'd have to wait until he saw how he reacted later in the books, obviously, to make sure she was right, but then again, when was she wrong?
"I told you -". . .waist - high grass.
"Thank you," Grover says, suddenly, "For doing that,"
"Yeah, of course," Percy grins
Glancing back, I. . .vein-webbed skin.
"The minotaur," Jason breathes.
He wore no. . .of the Looms-
"What? Really?" Leo sniggers.
"Yeah,"
"That's great," Connor nods.
Which would've looked funny. . .was so scary.
Those who had been stopped laughing.
Coarse brown hair. . . an electric sharpener.
There was a pause as everyone turned to look at both Percy's incredulously.
"Bro. What are your thoughts?" Jason asks, shaking his head, and Percy shrugs.
"They get better. I think,"
"Doubt it," Annabeth sighs.
I recognized the. . .couldn't be real.
"Oh, it's real alright," Hades says.
I blinked the. . . "Names have power."
"Smart woman," Athena nods in approval.
"Yes. If only her son would listen," Annabeth rolls her eyes. Percy grins not-so-sheepishly.
The pine tree was still way too far-a hundred yards uphill at least
Poseidon leans forward nervously on his throne.
I glanced behind. . .Gabe saying. Oops.
Despite the rising tension in the room, a few chuckles were heard.
"Eh, he deserved it,"
"Percy," My mom. . .bull-man closed in.
Those who hadn't been there - even those who had only heard about it - sucked in a breath.
Another few seconds. . .in the grass.
"Uh - oh," Hazel says.
We'd reached the. . .never make it
"This is sounding really bad," Silena murmurs.
The bull-man grunted. . .away from Grover.
"Uh - oh," Hazel stresses, again.
"Run, Percy!" she. . .pummeling the air.
"No," says everyone who didn't know the story, sending Percy pitying looks.
"Mom!" she caught. . .a holographic projection.
"Wait. . huh?" Frank asks, "She just disappeared?"
The Gods glance at each other, trying to figure out who would've taken her - it was obvious by the blinding light that it was one of their doing.
Percy gestures to the book, "Keep reading,"
A blinding flash. . .replaced my fear.
"And, there he is," mutters Clarisse, "Prissy,"
Newfound strength burned. . .stupid! Ground beef!"
The demigods snicker, a few raising eyebrows at Percy, who shrugs.
"Raaaarrrrr!" The monster. . .a stupid idea,
"Usually,"
but better than no idea at all.
"I guess that's true," Annabeth shrugs
I put my. . .Time slowed down.
The group from 2008 exchanged nervous glances.
"Literally or figuratively?"
"I'm not sure, actually," Percy says, quietly
My legs tensed. . .on his neck.
"Woah," Piper says
How did I do that?
"That's what I wanna know," Athena muses
Percy shrugs, "The rain, maybe?"
"Hm, maybe," But she didn't sound convinced.
I didn't have. . . into the tree
"Yeah, thanks for that, by the way," Thalia says, sarcastically.
"You're welcome," Percy grins, and she rolls her eyes.
and the impact. . .only one gear: forward.
"Least he's not completely hopeless," Demeter mutters
Meanwhile, Grover started. . .own tongue off.
"Ouch," Katie winces
"Food!" Grover moaned. . .all my might.
"Yeah, right," Ares scoffs
The monster tensed, gave a surprised grunt, then - snap!
"What?" Ask most the Gods.
Percy shrugs, "He had just killed mom, and I didn't want him hurting Grover, too,"
"Still," Zeus mutters, almost uneasily.
The bull-man. . .of a knife.
"Yeah, keep that," Ares grunts. Spoils of war - especially one like that - was something you didn't want to throw away.
The monster charged. . .had burst apart.
"Yeah. Uh, what?" Apollo asks, "You just defeated the minotaur , with no training?"
"To do that at all, let alone with no training, with no idea of what was even going on , would be extremely hard," Reyna says.
"Yeah, no kidding," Ares says, eyeing Percy.
"I don't know what you want me to say," He says, now, as Zeus' paranoia spikes "I - I'm sorry? It was just a heat-of-the-moment thing,"
The monster was. . .my mother vanish.
The demigods wince sympathetically. They had all - at one point or another - been in that situation. It wasn't fair.
I wanted to. . .let him go.
"Thank you," Grover repeats, and Percy smiles at him.
The last thing. . .like a princess's.
Percy and Annabeth turned red, while the others laughed.
"A princess?" Annabeth manages, raising an eyebrow, and Percy covers his face, sinking lower into the couch.
They both looked. . .He must be."
Now it's Annabeth's turn to cover her face, as Silena grins, suggestively, "The one, huh?" and Nico scowls, a little bit.
She blushes as Percy does the same next to her, "That's not what I meant!" She protests
"Aw, come one," Travis says, wiggling his eyebrows, "We all know it's true,"
"Shut up ," She groans
"Pff, y'all were so cute," Piper whispers to Annabeth , who blushes, also.
"Silence, Annabeth," . . .Bring him inside.
"That's it,"
"That ending was so cute," Aphrodite coos, causing the two to groan and cover their faces again, and the others to snigger.
"Still can't believe you did that, though," Jason says, shaking his head.
After they've calmed down, Poseidon holds up the book, "Who wants to read next?"
"I will," Persephone says, taking it from him, and turning to the next page.
