A/N Hey, everyone. Welcome back to more of the Degrassi Welcome Back Home series. So first off, I want to thank you guys for your amazing support so far and I also want to give a shoutout to writer Phrankster and guest Monique White for the reviews. Second, I hope you guys are staying safe out there, getting the vaccine for yourselves and your family and waiting for the second dose of the vaccine. And third, I hope you guys are doing well in your school's remote learning since it is still a thing. But anyway, this is the sixth chapter of the Degrassi Welcome Back Home series and hopefully I will have some ideas on how to make the romantic relationships look realistic in the next few chapters. This chapter will be the first part focused on Adam and Melody. So anyway, this is the fifth chapter, and here we go.
Adam
After getting to know Melody and helping her out with her science homework, Adam hoped that he would get to ask her out on a date soon. As he was doing his history homework, he glanced over at Melody, who was having trouble answering one of the questions on her math homework.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine. Just trying to figure out the answer for the question," she replied.
"Let me know if you need any help," he said.
Just then, Melody's phone rang and she took it out of her pocket to answer the phone call.
"Hello?" she asked as she answered.
Adam continued doing his history homework and wrote down his answers carefully.
"I'm coming home right away," she said as she hung up.
"Who is it?" asked Adam.
"My brother just called me. He wants me home because I have to join him and my parents for our family dinner soon," Melody replied.
"I'll take you home," he said as he closed his notebook and left it on his computer desk.
Chewie the cat perked up before Adam walked over to the cat.
"Be a good kitty, Chewie. I'll be home in a few minutes and give you your dinner," he said as he rubbed the cat's head.
"Bye Chewie," said Melody as she puts on her jacket before she put away her homework and slung her backpack over her shoulders.
The two friends raced downstairs and put on their shoes just before the front door was opened. Melody figured that this was Adam's family he mentioned.
"Hey mom!" Adam greeted.
"Hi, honey. How was school today?" his mother Michelle asked.
"I'll tell you later when I get back. But right now I have to take my friend home," he replied.
"Aren't you gonna introduce us to your new friend?" Adam's little sister Brianna asked.
"Mom, dad, and Bri, this is Melody Taylor. Melody, this is my mother Michelle, my father James, and my little sister Brianna," Adam replied.
"It's nice to meet all of you," said Melody.
"It's nice to meet you too Melody," Adam's father James said to her.
"Anyway, I have to take her home. Otherwise her family would be worried about her and her well being," said Adam.
"Get going then honey," said Michelle.
"Hey! Did you feed Chewie yet?" asked Brianna.
"I'll feed him later when I get home!" Adam called as he closed the front door.
After leaving the Hawthorne residence, Adam walked beside Melody and he noticed that she was looking at the ground.
"Everything okay?" he asked her.
"I'm fine. I used to have someone walking beside me," she replied.
"Makes sense," he agreed.
"I actually wanted to tell you something for the whole day today," said Melody.
"What is it?" asked Adam.
"When I was in the seventh grade, I had a boyfriend. And I was one of the happiest girls to be in a relationship with a boy. But I was wrong," she explained.
"What happened next?" he asked.
"One day on the weekend, I went to get a take-out and hoped that I would get to eat with my boyfriend. When I got to his house, I caught him making out with one of my best friends. I snapped, dropped the food, spilled a drink on his head, and slapped my best friend in the face. My best friend said I wasn't supposed to know. And she kept this secret from me. I told her that I hated her and I told my boyfriend I'm breaking up with him. I just stomped out of his house and ran home," she replied.
'I don't think I should ask her out on a date yet. I should give her time to relax and decide whether if she's ready to be in a relationship,' he thought.
"I'm really sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that," he offered.
"You don't need to apologize to me," she said.
Adam knew that it hasn't been easy for Melody since she ended her relationship with her boyfriend and severed her friendship with her best friend.
Melody
After explaining to Adam about her previous relationship in the seventh grade, he offered his apologies to her and Melody told him he didn't need to apologize.
"So have you spoke to them ever again?" he asked.
"No. I didn't want to forgive those two people who stabbed me in the back and lied to me in the seventh grade. And I need to move on," she replied.
She felt her hand brushing against his hand and she wanted to hold his hand and tell him to stay with her, but she wasn't ready to be in a relationship yet.
After fifteen minutes of walking beside each other and having a conversation, the two of them were outside of the Taylor residence.
"This is me," she said.
"So I'll see you in school tomorrow?" asked Adam.
"If I'm around," Melody replied.
"I gotta head home anyway. Good night," he said as he turned around and started walking back to the direction he came from.
"Wait, Adam!" she called as he turned back around.
"Yeah?" he said.
"What's your phone number or what's your social media?" she asked.
"Whichever works for me," he replied.
"I'll give you my phone number so we can talk about homework when we get home at the end of the day," she said.
"Sounds good to me. I'll also add you on social media too," he agreed.
Adam and Melody exchanged phone numbers before Adam turned around and walked back to the direction to his home.
"Bye, Adam!" Melody called to him.
"Bye, Melody! Hopefully I'll catch you around in school tomorrow!" said Adam.
Melody opened the front door with her house keys before she stepped in and took her shoes off and put on her house slippers.
"I'm home!" she called.
"Hey, baby girl! How was school today?" her dad asked her.
"It was okay. I made some friends today," she replied.
"Who was the handsome boy at the door?" her mother asked.
"That was Adam Hawthorne. We just became friends when we met in geography class this morning," Melody replied.
"Go clean up, baby sis. Dinner's gonna be ready soon," Melody's brother Nick reminded.
She quickly raced upstairs to her bedroom before she puts down her backpack and took off her jacket as she grabbed her pajamas and went to take a shower.
After taking a shower and washing her hair, Melody stepped out of the shower and puts on her pajamas, consisting of her pink shirt and a pair of grey shorts and threw out her school clothes in the laundry basket before she goes to join her family for dinner.
After fifteen minutes of eating dinner, Melody goes back to her bedroom and went to finish her homework. While she was finishing up her homework, her phone gets an alert and she opens up her Facebook profile and Adam has sent her a friend request. Smiling, she accepts the request and locked her phone.
Spending the last five minutes, Melody finally finishes her homework before she lets out a small yawn, feeling a little drowsy from today. She walks over to her bed and laid down as she covered herself with her blanket and looked at the ceiling.
Getting ready to close her eyes, her phone gets a text message from Adam. She quickly read it and the message said, 'Sweet dreams, Melody. Good night.'
Smiling, Melody quickly replied and sent her message to him, 'Good night, Adam.'
And that will be the end of the sixth chapter and the first part of focusing on Adam and Melody. So what do you guys think of the fifth chapter so far? Love it? Hate it? In the next chapter, the second part of the friendship will be focused on James and Janie. I'm doing my best to come up with the chapter names as I go along with the story. So right now, I'm trying to think of an idea on how to write the forty-fourth chapter of the Spider-Man You Can Come to Me series. And I'm a little focused on writing my Godzilla project at the moment. But anyway, this is the end of the fifth chapter for now. More chapters are coming soon, and hopefully I will have Adam and James going out on their first dates with Melody and Janie, so keep an eye out for that. So, continue to stay safe out there, get your vaccine, get some rest, and continue to drink more water everyday.
