Chapter 7: Violence in silence
Frisk shrugged at Mono. "Meh, whatever you say. We're safe for now, and that's what matters."
"True." Mono replied. "Hey look, it's our floor." He added once the elevator dinged.
"Hmm... where are we?"
"I dunno... we got some hallways and a lot if doors... guess all we can do is explore?" Frisk nodded and they stepped out of the elevator only for it to slam shut behind them. They gasped in fright, but it did not activate. The teacher was not pursuing them. At least, not now. The duo began to try all the doors, but most were either locked or didn't have a knob at all. This was bothersome to say the least, but there was one door at the end of the hallway that they had access too, and it was easy as well, all they needed to do was hoist the other up to turn it. Once it popped open, they smelt the undeniable scent of knowledge. Books. Books as far as they eye can see, stretching all the way up to the ceiling.
"Amazing... but what's with these guys and having things they don't even need?" Frisk asked.
"No clue... this whole place... it's just weird and... does it seem... quiet to you?" Frisk asked.
"Quiet? Well, we are in a library."
"I know but... It feels like more than that."
"Hmm... well, lets be cautious then. Better safe than sorry." Frisk nodded as they began to walk around the musky room. They couldn't quite read the books, mostly because they were too heavy to move, but also because they were written in a language they couldn't understand. They furrowed their brows in frustration and curiosity, what secrets did these beings harbor? As they read, they heard the near silent sound of a door opening and a set of footsteps walk in. They quickly glanced at the door to see a large figure walling through the isle of books, seemingly looking for a specific one. Gulping, the kids knelt down and tried to find some shadows to hide behind. The teacher seemed to have recovered quicky, but she did have an ice pack secured to her jaw from where Frisk hit her. Other than that, she seemed to be in tip-top shape, unfortunately. The kids crept along side her, using the cover of darkness and books to keep hidden. Eventually, the teacher came to a stop and seemed to browse books. The two slowly inched away from her, only for her to burst her elongated neck though the shelved and scream at them. They both screamed in return and bolted in the opposite direction. The teacher was fast, but not agile, allowing the two to duck and weave though stacks of books to get her all tangled up. Eventually, the stacks all tumbled at once due to the teacher jostling them. They all collapsed on the teachers neck and pinned her firmly, allowing Mono and Frisk to return to stealth, but it didn't take long for the teacher to free herself and begin searching again.
"Oh my goodness..." Frisk gasped under her breath. They looked around for any sort of weapon, but found nothing but books.
"We gotta outmaneuver her... Those piles of books should help if we jump to them." Frisk simple nodded and volunteered to go first. She hopped over to the first pile, then to the second. At the same time, the teacher's head decided to make an appearance and scan the room? searching for them. The teacher slowly inched her way around the pillar of book while Frisk shimmied away to keep hidden. The teacher soon lost interest and decided to search elsewhere. This allowed Frisk to create a distraction on the other side, getting the teacher's attention and letting Mono jump from pillar to pillar. Once his feet touched the ground, they both bolted towards the direction of the nearest door. Fortunately, it had just enough of a crack in it for them to squeeze right through. Unfortunately, the teacher was still very fast. She was quickly gaining on them, nearly nipping at them more than one time, but they managed to just barely stay one step ahead of her. They hastily shoved themselves into the crack of the door and closed it behind them. Then there was silence. Terrifying silence. It was then that the duo looked around and saw that they had cornered themselves in a closet.
"Oh no..." Frisk said. "Now what do we do...?" She said. Mono scanned the room and spied a piece of pipe sticking out of the wall. He ran over to it and with Frisk's help, he managed to tear it off and break it into two pieces, giving one to Frisk.
"We fight... and we fight hard, like our lives depend on it, because it does." Frisk gulped and looked at her tetanus-ridden weapon. She gripped it tightly in her hands and sighed. Not long after, the door slowly opened to reveal the teacher standing in the frame, smile stretched wide with smugness. The teacher lunged at them with her head, and the kids prepared themselves by raising their pipes high, but just before contact was made by either party, a large filing cabinet came crashing down and smashed the teacher right on her long neck. She wasn't dead yet, but she was severely wounded, making choking noises as a bit of blood dribbled out of her mouth. Stunned, the dup could only look on at the sight before them, that is, until a familiar voice got their attention. They looked and gasped in surprise.
"Guys! You got free?!" Frisk exclaimed. The trio smiled proudly at them.
"Yep. And let me tell you, it's an an interesting story."
