Locking the door behind Saphron and Terra Ruby hummed, rubbing sweaty hands against her jeans as she stood at the door way for a moment to compose herself. It was time for her to do something she had never done before.
They're just going to the shops they'll be back soon, Ruby reminded herself knowing that they wouldn't need to do this for long.
But looking into the living room she couldn't help but smile as her nervousness began to fade with what she saw, she could see Jaune play with Adrian making the child giggle as he tried to catch Jaune's thumb just before Adrian would be able to grab him Jaune would move his hand to be just slightly out of reach making him pout before Jaune would put his hand back into reach only to move it out of reach once more when Adrian would try to catch his hand again.
"you'd make a great dad." Ruby mumbled under her breath making Jaune pause sure that he didn't hear her right.
"Err what?" Jaune asked blushing lightly as he looked to her not even noticing Adrian managing to grab onto his finger while he's distracted.
"I mean your great with kids," Ruby said quickly as she awkwardly tapped her things together before she steeled herself walking closer towards the two of them "I was the youngest so I never really got the chance to baby sit." she admitted to him before she sat down onto the sofa next to him.
Smiling at her Jaune wrapped his arms around her shoulder hugging her closely making her blush lightly but doing nothing to get away as she leaned against him looking to Jaune and Adrian fondly. "we've always been a big family and I was a middle child so I spent a lot of time babysitting" Jaune told her before he carefully picked up Adrian holding him out to Ruby.
"Do you want to try holding him?" he asked her smiling lightly at her as Adrian looked to her giggling lightly his hands reaching for her "he seems to like you." he told her.
Ruby took a moment to think about it before she nodded doing her best to ignore her nervousness holding her hands out "with you here to help guide me I'm sure nothing could go wrong." she said looking to Jaune with trust in her eyes.
Blushing lightly from the statement Jaune quickly nodded before he gently moved Adrian to Ruby making sure to cradle his body so that he wouldn't hurt him. "Make sure to support his head." he told her smiling as she slowly took the child into her arms cradling him against her as body as she made sure to keep his head supported with Jaune's guidance.
"Hey this isn't as difficult as I thought." Ruby admitted after she got Adrian into the right hold noticing Jaune move closer to her making her smile scooting closer to him as Arian began to slowly fall asleep against her.
"I guess you're a natural then." Jaune replied to her smiling wrapping his arm around her waist as he yawned just now realising how tired he was.
"I'm still nowhere near being as good with kids as you." Ruby admitted with a smile on her face as she rested her head against his shoulder before she caught sight of the two of them in the mirror making her stomach do flips shocking her.
"I've had experience I'm sure that with practice you'll be better at it then me," Jaune told her grinning but Ruby was barely listening looking at their reflection in the mirror, with the three of them sat together like that they looked like a family it made Ruby's heart race, memories of her mom bouncing around her head as she then thought of her father and Yang. "Is there something wrong Rubes?" Jaune asked her placing his hand against her shoulder to get her attention making Ruby look into his blue eyes as she realised something.
Pulling Jaune in closer Ruby shocked him by kissing him clumsily, she kissed him the same way she did everything for the first time, head first and so fast that one would fear that she was about to get whiplash but right now Jaune wasn't really thinking he just kissed her back conveying all the emotion he had towards her in that one kiss.
And Ruby then slowly pulled away from the kiss with a wide smile on her face, one day she was going to have a family the same way her mom did and she refused to leave them behind.
