POV: Mayfly. Leader of Magic, Daughter of Hecate.
Percy and Nico had FINALLY gotten back.
Half an hour late.
Not that it was a surprise.
They were almost always at least ten minutes late, unless there was an actual serious threat.
I exited the Magic tent (They live in tents, so that they can move locations if they have to,) and ran to meet them.
"Hey, Mayfly!" Thalia called, smiling.
We were close. The slight rivalry between the Protectors and the Hunters didn't stop us from being friends.
Basically, when Percy was first made a god, he became bored after a year.
He needed something to do.
So he started the Protectors.
It really started with him gathering all the people who are now Leaders, and asking us if we would be interested.
We agreed, and slowly started recruiting others and sorting them into groups.
Percy gave us immortality. Not god-like, though. We could still die in battle, just not from age or anything else.
Percy, unlike Artemis, is fine with both genders.
Artemis was upset that he was giving "boys" the same protection her hunters had.
But she couldn't touch us, because Percy was a powerful god, and if he was angered things would not turn out well for her.
We also had the added protection of Poseidon. He's visited a few times, and is quite fond of us.
Zeus also supported the Protectors. We rescue demigods all over the world, and kill thousands of monsters.
After thirty years of hating each other, the Protectors and Hunter established a sort of truce.
The Protectors agreed the if they found a girl who wanted to be an eternal maiden, they would send her to the Hunters.
The Hunters agreed that if they found a girl who wanted to be an immortal monster-hunter, yet didn't want to renounce men, or if they found any boys who were interested in becoming a Protector, they would send them to the Protectors.
One girl the Hunters sent over was Mayfly's Lieutenant, Silene.
"Hi, Thalia!" The girls hugged. "I missed you! It's been a while!"
"Too long." Thalia agreed.
I turned to Percy and Nico.
"Do you two realize that it's no longer unusual for you to be late? I told the Newbies you would be here thirty minutes ago!"
"I really wasn't our fault this time!" Nico protested.
"Yeah!" Percy chimed in. "We were attacked by a bunch of ridiculously-dressed people!"
I frowned. "Are you joking?"
"No." Thalia said. "One was dressed like an American Flag. One was in a metal suit. One had a red cape and was holding a-"
"Hammer?" I finished. This was not good.
"Yes. How did you know?"
"YOU WERE JUST ATTACKED BY THE AVENGERS!"
"The who?" Percy asked.
For a god, he can really be clueless.
"An organization called S.H.I.E.L.D made a group called the Avengers. I know you probably beat them easily, but for mortals they're enhanced. You remember that attacked on New York?"
Percy nodded. "Yeah, my father said there was no cause for concern because the Keepers of the Time Stone were protecting the Empire State building. He said a group of mortals were defending the city, and Apollo predicted they would win."
Realization passed over his face. "You mean they were those mortals?"
I nodded. "Now, normally I would say S.H.I.E.L.D is no cause for concern, but there had recently been some new additions to the Avengers. The ones you faced were the original six, but there are more of them. Only two are even remotely dangerous."
"Which ones?" Percy asked.
"Well, one is an A.I. brain put into a body made out of the strongest metal humans have. This name is Vision. He has an Infinity Stone in his forehead."
"A what?"
"An Infinity Stone. There was this guy who wanted to destroy the gods at some point, so he made the Infinity Stones. There are six of them, representing all aspects of life. Space, Reality, Power, Mind, Time, and Soul. Vision has the Mind Stone."
"And could this stone be a problem?" Percy asked.
"No. The person failed. The Stones are very powerful by human standards, but even all of them together couldn't come close to defeating the gods. The only reason the Mind Stone is dangerous is because though it couldn't kill you, it could kill the rest of the Protectors."
Percy growled in anger. "Who's the other person?"
I felt a wave of sadness. "Wanda Maximoff. Daughter of Hecate, though she doesn't know it."
"You look sad." Thalia said, concerned. "What happened?"
I took a shuddering breath, and answered. "Wanda and her twin brother, Pietro-" Another breath. "Lived in an area that was attacked by Stark Missiles. They survived. Their father didn't, and they though our mother was dead, as they didn't know she was a goddess. Stark, the one in the metal suit, didn't actually attack that area. A terrorist group using his weapons did. The twins didn't know this, and they wanted to get revenge on Stark. At his time, they didn't know they had powers, so they never used them. They volunteered for Hydra, and evil group, to experiment on the using an infinity stone. All the other human experiments died, but since they were demigods, they lived. The stone helped bring out their powers. They already had those powers, but they though the stone had given them the powers. After having gotten their powers, they helped Ultron, an evil A.I, try to destroy the Avengers. Ultron's real plan was to destroy earth. Finding this out, they left, and helped the Avengers defeat Ultron. The Gods didn't get alarmed by this threat because they knew that Wanda and Pietro could handle it. They were right. Ultron was defeated. But Pietro died." Thalia wrapped her hand around mine. "Wanda joined the Avengers, along with Vision, and two others."
I looked at Percy. "Wanda may not be to much of a threat, but she is the daughter of the goddess of magic. And she is my half sister. I would ask permission from you to go see Wanda, and explain our world to her."
Percy didn't hesitate. "You have my permission. But, don't make this a solo mission. Choose two people to go with you."
I nodded, and walked back to camp.
"And Mayfly...Be careful."
