The next day, Alastor woke up with a big pain in his head. "Huh? Guess I was able to fall asleep eventually." He grabbed his head and groaned in pain. "Why do I have this headache all of a sudden?"

He slowly rose out of his bed and walked to the bathroom. He turned on the light and rubbed his eyes. Looking into the mirror just above the sink, he saw that one of his eyes was still black and red. Though he couldn't recall changing into his demon form.

No matter what he tried, it wouldn't turn back to normal. "What's happening to me?" he said covering his eye. His head started aching again and he groaned in pain. Suddenly, there was a knock.

"Al, are you there? I need to talk to you." That was Charlie's voice. He ignored the headache the best he could and walked out of the bathroom.

Charlie waited patiently outside the door until Alastor opened it. "Alastor, thank goodness-" she looked at Alastor's right eye. "Al, what happened to your-" Alastor quickly covered his eye.

"I'm fine sweetheart, what is it you wanted to speak to me about?" Alastor said with a smile. Charlie took a deep breath.

"Come with me." Charlie grabbed Alastor's hand and they walked down a foyer down to a room where some of their friends were gathered. Charlie listened in on their conversation.

"I'm just saying, this whole thing is a huge risk. Do we really stand a chance?" she heard Vaggie say. Charlie's heart sank when she heard those words. Alastor was still confused as to what they were doing.

"What are we-" Charlie put a finger over his mouth and gestured up closer to the door. They then heard Mimzy speak up.

"Yeah, honestly I'm too scared to face Sevanthian. What if one of us gets killed?"

"Hate to say it guys but maybe we should just give up before we get hurt," said Vaggie. Charlie then pulls Alastor away from the door and down a hall.

"Did you hear that Al? Some of them are starting to lose hope! We can't let that happen! We need to do something." Alastor chuckled.

"And how do you plan to do that princess?"

"Gather everyone up for a meeting, I have an idea," said Charlie before running off. Alastor smiled as she left. Later in the meeting room, everyone was gathered.

"Thank you all for coming to this meeting. Now I have noticed that some of you are feeling doubtful about our chances, well I'm here to convince you otherwise," Charlie announced with a wide smile. Everyone looked at her skeptically.

"But Charlie-" Vaggie said but was interrupted.

"I know, it's dangerous and risky, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. And as long as I'm still standing, none of you are dying on my watch!" Alastor walked and stood beside Charlie.

"And as long as I'm standing, I'll make sure you're safe as well," he said smiling. Charlie smiled at him and blushed.

"Thank you, Alastor, and I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. This might be the biggest challenge we've ever faced."

"No offense Sir Pentious," said Alastor turning to the snake. Sir Pentious just shrugged. Charlie hops on top of a wooden table and starts singing.

Time now to fight

"It's not gonna be easy, but it's our only option. Now, who's with me?" Charlie said smiling. Everyone else smiles as well and starts singing.

"That's more like it everyone!" Charlie cheered. "There's no way we're giving up now when we only just started. We can do this."

"Although I still have doubts, this was a nice confidence boost," said Vaggie.

"Yeah, thanks, Charlie! You're right, there's no way we can give up," said Nifty.

"I'd never thought I'd say this, but a musical number did help," said Husk.

"My dear Charlie, you always know how to get everyone's spirits up," said Lucifer.

"Well, I try and don't worry dad. We're gonna save mom, I know we will." Lucifer smiles and walks over to hug his daughter.

"If anybody can lead us through this, it's you candy apple." Lucifer held his daughter tighter. "Just please, promise you won't do anything risky. I don't want to lose you as well." Charlie gives a soft smile.

"I won't."

Later after the meeting, Charlie and Alastor were alone. The Radio Demon turned to Charlie.

"Charlie?" The princess turned to Alastor. "Might I ask, out of curiosity, why you wanted to have this meeting?"

"Well, like I said Al, I don't want everyone to just give up. Though I do understand why. This situation, this huge mess, it's making everyone feel uneasy and scared. I just want to keep everyone's spirits up." Alastor, to Charlie's shock, starts laughing.

"Really, that's what this was all about?!" Alastor said cracking up. "You're concerned, because your friends are too fragile to handle the situation? How pathetic!"

"What?" Charlie was stunned. That response really was just out of the blue. "Alastor, why would you say that about your own friends? Do you not understand our situation here? That was very... insensitive of you." Alastor's eyes widened when met with Charlie's disapproving glare.

"Oh dear, did I really just say that? I heavily apologize darling, of course I understand our situation. We're all in serious danger so of course everyone is fearful," said Alastor, deep regret in his tone. "I don't know why I said that, it just came out."

"Well, I forgive you Al, but that really was unlike you. It was almost like you were acting like your old self," said Charlie. Alastor could feel his heart stop and his eyes widened even more. "Or, I don't know. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this," Charlie said with a chuckle. "Is there anything else you wanted to talk about... Al?"

And just like that, Alastor mysteriously disappeared again. This was becoming weird. Usually he'd avoid her sometimes when he wanted to hide something, but not this much. She decided to talk to someone about it.

Meanwhile, Alastor quickly entered his room, breathing heavily. He then looked up to see Alter Ego hovering above him. He grinned.

"Alastor, you have returned. What's wrong, you seem anxious," Alter Ego said chuckling, clearly enjoying Alastor's current state. The Radio Demon scowled up at him.

"You. Are you the one that's doing this to me?"

"Well, you're quite the quick thinker, aren't you? Yes, I am the one that put you in your current state. Your eyes, the attitude change, all of it was because of yours truly."

"Why? Why are you doing this?"

Alter Ego hovered over to him.

"You see, if it's so difficult for you to choose between infinite power and... friends, I'm going to make you choose. I will corrupt your mind, and I will push you, and push you, and push you until you give into your dark desires."

Alastor shoved Alter Ego away.

"I will never give in to you," Alastor growled. Alter Ego just smiled.

"Fine, try to resist. I assure you though that I will not make this easy for you." Alter Ego then disappears into thin air. Alastor sighs.

"I'm counting on it."
