On the Black Pearl, the Crew is swabbing the desk as Jack looked at a piece of paper. "Beckett."
Elizabeth nodded to him. "Yes, they're signed 'Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company.'"
Jack hold the Letters of Marque closer to study the signature. "Euhh." Then he stick tongue out.
"Will was working for Beckett and never said a word." Gibbs told to them.
"He said it to me, I think." Madelyn said in thought.
"Ah." Jack nodded to Gibbs, it was clear that Madelyn wasn't heard.
"Beckett wants the compass." Gibbs told him. "Only one reason for that."
"Of course. He wants the chest." Jack added.
"Yes, he did say something about a chest." Elizabeth nodded.
"Creepy man." Madelyn comment.
"If the Company controls the chest, they control the sea." Gibbs looked discomfort.
"It's not a fine thought indeed, Gibbs." Madelyn told him.
"A truly discomforting notion, love." Jack nodded to her.
"Baaad! Bad for every mother's son what calls himself pirate." Gibbs sighed. "I think there's a bit more speed to be coaxed from these sails." Then he walked off to see to the sails. "Brace the foreyard!"
"Might I enquire as to how you came by these." Jack hold up the Letters of Marque.
"Persuasion." Elizabeth replied as then Madelyn walked off to sharpen her sword, but could still hear them.
"Friendly?" Jack raised an eyebrow.
"Decidedly not." Elizabeth replied to him.
"Will strikes a deal for these and upholds it with honor, yet you are the one standing here with the prize." Jack told her as then he read out loud. "Full pardon, commissioned as a privateer on behalf of England and the East India Trading Company…" Norrington overhears this as Jack put the letters away. "As if I could be bought for such a low price."
"Jack, the letters, give them back." Elizabeth commanded him.
"No." Jack shook with his head. "Persuade me."
Elizabeth came up behind him and leans in. "You do know Will taught me how to handle a sword."
Jack turned to face her. "As I said… persuade me." Then Elizabeth shook her head and walked away.
She went to stand by the ship's rail with a smile on her face as then Norrington came to her. "It's a curious thing, there was a time I would give anything for you to look like that while thinking about me."
"I don't know what you mean." Elizabeth denied him.
"Oh, I think you do." Norrington shook his head.
"Oh, don't be absurd, I trust him, that's all." Elizabeth told him.
Norrington laughs and walks away before turning back for another word. "So you never wondered how your latest fiancé ended up on the Flying Dutchman in the first place." Shook his head and continued walking.
Elizabeth took out the compass and opened it, its direction changed to point to Jack. She shook her head and closed the compass, looking a little disturbed.
Sometime later, Madelyn stood next to Gibbs by the helm as then Jack with a bottle in his hand, came to Elizabeth, who sat on the stairs. "My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are… troubled."
"I just thought I'd be married by now." Elizabeth blurted it out. "I'm so ready to be married."
Jack pops open a bottle of rum, handed it to her and she took a drink, looking upset. "You know…" Clears throat. "Lizzie, I am Captain of a ship and being Captain of a ship I could, in fact, perform a marriage right here. Right on this deck. Right now."
Elizabeth looked even more disgusted and handed him the bottle as then she walked away "No, thank you."
Jack followed her. "Why not? We are very much alike you and I. I and you… us."
Elizabeth turned around to look at him. "Except for a sense of honor and decency and a moral center. And personal hygiene."
"Trifles." Jack told her. "You will come over to my side, I know it."
"You seem very certain." Elizabeth crossed her arms as she leaned against the ship's rail.
"One word, love: curiosity." Jack looked at her. "You long for freedom. You long to do what you want to do because you want it. To act on selfish impulse. You want to see what it's like. One day… you won't be able to resist."
"Why doesn't your compass work?" She asked to him.
"My compass works fine." Jack replied to her.
"Because you and I are alike." She told him. "And there will come a moment when you have a chance to show it. To do the right thing."
"I love those moments." He literally waved. "I like to wave at them as they pass by."
"You'll have the chance to do something… something courageous." Elizabeth told him, seriously. "And when you, you'll discover something. That you're a good man."
"All evidence to the contrary." Jack scoffed.
Elizabeth laughed. "No, I have faith in you. You want to know why?"
"Do tell, dearie." Jack told her, flirty.
Elizabeth leaned in close with each sentence. "Curiosity. You're going to want it – a chance to be admired – and gain the rewards that follow. You won't be able to resist. You're going to want to know what it tastes like."
"I do want to know what it tastes like." Jack told her.
Jack caressed her cheek as Elizabeth continued talking. "But seeing as you're a good man, I know that you'd never put me in a position that would compromise my honor." Jack was ready to kiss her when he saw the black mark return to the palm of his hand and snatched his hand away. "I'm proud of you, Jack."
Just then, Gibbs shouted. "Land-ho!"
"I need my jar of dirt." Jack muttered as then he goes to look for it.
Ragetti and Pintel are rowing the boat with Jack and his jar of dirt in it, Norrington at the prow and the sisters sat next to each other. "You're pulling too fast."
Ragetti shook his head. "You're pulling too slow."
Pintel sighed. "We don't want the Kraken to catch us. I'm saving me strength for when it comes. Just don't think it's Kraken, anyways. Always heard it says Kray-ken."
Ragetti raised an eye brow. "What with the long 'a'?"
"Aha." Pintel said to him.
Ragetti shook his head. "No, no, no, no, no. "Kroken"'s how it's pronounced in the original Scandinavian, and "Kraken"'s closer to that."
"Well, we ain't original Scandinavians, are we? Kray-ken." Pintel argued.
"It's a mythological creature. I can calls it what I wants!" Ragetti argued back as then they were by the island.
Jack puts his coat in the boat and his jar of dirt also and picks up a shovel. "Guard the boat. Mind the tides… don't touch my dirt."
Norrington, Madelyn and Jack followed Elizabeth across the island as she lead them with the compass, then she started walking in circles as the compass needle points to Jack once more and she shook it. "This doesn't work. And it certainly doesn't show you what you want most." She scoffed as then she sat down cross-legged on the sand.
Jack walked over and looked at the compass. "Yes, it does, you're sitting on it."
Elizabeth looked confused. "Beg pardon?"
Jack shoos her off. "Move." Whistled to Norrington to start digging.
Meanwhile with Pintel and Ragetti. "Guard the boat, mind the tide…" Pintel comment.
Ragetti balancing the shovel on his hand. "I can join the circus."
Pintel looked at him. "Mind if I shine your shoes, sir?" Then they are seen by Davy Jones through his telescope.
