Dreams and Deceit

Chapter 7

Kanna quietly entered the study "master they have made their move" as she showed him her mirror.

Laughing in relief "it's about time. I was getting bored. Wake up my wife and have her ready. This ends tonight."

Dressed ready to fight, Kagome stood next to Kagura. She refused to get close to Naruku. Silently, she prayed that it would all end tonight and she could go home. She knows that Inuyasha won't ever want her after being soiled and touched by Naraku. Fulfilling her duty was all that she could do.

Walking silently behind, he snakes his arm around her waist and kissed her neck. Taken off guard as she was in deep thought, she tried to push him away only resulting in him pulling her closer that she felt his manhood pushed in her lower back.

"Save your feistiness for later my wife." as he kissed her cheek and grabbed her wrist pulling her with him to his side.

Silently disgusted at his behavior, she thought back at why a rose was left on her pillow. Did he, Naraku, leave it there for her? Did he really like her or was it just one of his mind games.

Lost in thought she didn't realize that they were ambushed by Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango. They fought and defeated Goshinki and Muso after a well fought battle. Not sensing Sesshomaru's presence, he appeared and pushed Kagome out of the way. His attack was focused on Naruku. Having broken his grasp, Kagome ran towards Inuyasha and he held her within his arms. Feeling his mate being taken away, his anger grew tenfold and violently fought back, almost gaining an upper hand on the daiyoukai.

Sesshomaru jumped back towards Inuyasha and Kagome as he drew his Bakusaiga at Kagome and stabbed her from behind. Screaming out in pain she dropped to her knees looking up at him "why…"

Naruku stood frozen at the sight before him. He noticed Inuyasha and the others didn't move or cry out. His heart felt like it was forcing to pump its blood as he clutched his chest and howled. His eyes glowed red as he charged at them. Miroku and Sango blocked his path.

"Come on when are you gonna swing Tessaiga!" Inuyasha yelled at this brother.

"Stay calm. The soul reapers have not appeared as yet. She is still alive." staring at her.

Hearing screams, Inuyasha looked up to see his friends struggling to keep Naruku away from Kagome.

"They need help. Go or else the miko will die and not be able to return." as Sesshomaru took her into his arms.

Inuyasha looked at Kagome once more and took off with his Tessiga after Naraku.

"Miko, this one will revive you and explain afterwards. Do not fight it." Looking down at her.

Kagome gasped for air and looked into the golden eyes and finally let the last breath release from her chest.

Feeling his heart ripped out, Naraku screamed out and dropped to his knees. He began to cry. The others stepped back and watched his crumpled form on the ground.

They all looked over to Sesshomaru who now laid Kagome on the ground and stood looking focused at her waiting for the reapers to appear. Forgetting about Naraku, they ran over to be next to Kagome.

Naraku growled as he was angry his mate died at the hands of her friends. He stood up and walked over slowly still in tears. Just then he saw Sesshomaru raised his blade and swiped it over her. Nothing happened. He did it again. Nothing. Once more as a bead of sweat rolled down his eyebrow. They all stood without breathing when suddenly Kagome jerked up and coughed violently "what the hell Sesshomaru!" She spat.

Clutching his chest and smiling seeing his mate revived, he smiled. Just then she screamed out and was curled into a ball with her hand grabbing her neck. A faint red glow was seen. As he began to run to her, he dropped feeling pain0 and grabbed his neck. A faint red glow was seen as well on him. Looking between the two, everyone stood still. Watching and waiting.

"What's wrong? Let me see your neck." As Inuyasha gently pried her fingers away seeing the mark was gone but a small red scar remained.

Standing at his side, Kagura pried away his fingers and gasped. His mark was gone well but a small red scar remained. Looking at her expression "what is it! Tell me!" As he stood on shaky legs.

Speaking loudly "your mating mark is gone, master. The mating is broken."

Angrily, he focused his remaining energy to Sesshomaru. He drew his sword and went full force on his attacks.

Smirking in delight, Sesshomaru fought with Naruku.

Kagura and Kanna stood off to the side not wishing to be harmed.

Inuyasha helped Kagome to her feet "let me get ya' outta here. You shouldn't watch this."

"No, I want to remain. I need to see him defeated." as she felt sad seeing the state he was reduced to. 'Why do I feel sorry for him? Did I develop some kind of feeling towards him?'

Sesshomaru and Naraku fought for what seemed like hours. Inuyasha was getting irritated that he wanted to join in but couldn't because of the arrangement made with his brother.

As Kagome wiped away her tears, she noticed that Naraku was gone. Looking around, she saw him gravely injured with Kagura helping him to stand and Kanna in front of him with a barrier around them.

"What happened!" as Inuyasha drew his blade letting Miroku and Sango hold up Kagome and jumped over to his brother. He looked over to his angry brother and saw him covered in blood and slashes breathing heavily.

"This isn't over! I will kill all of you and take the jewel." Looking over pitifully at Kagome "I will reclaim my mate, mark or not, she belongs to me." Then suddenly miasma filed the air and they were gone.

Kagome's eyes grew heavy and she saw Inuyasha running towards her then blackness took over.
