To all my valued readers.
I am thankful that yoood by me thus far. The past four years have been a living nightmare for me, and now, I am thankfully in a place where I am safe and can start my writing once more. I do apologize for all the years that I have been away. I am also determined to finish this story, as my love for the unknown and creepy has never ebbed. I am also adding another OC into this story. For all my brave and loyal readers, here is the next instalment of the story. To those who have stuck by me, this chapter is dedicated to you. Enjoy with confidence that I will try and update at least once a week.
PS: To that one person who has been waiting for years for me to update. This is for you.
With the four of them looking at the rock (Or brick, it has been so long since I have reread my own story) no one had anything to say. the note was simple enough. Someone was coming for them. After a moment, Tim had gotten up, and ran a hand through his messy brown hair, shook his head. "Well, we can't just hide here, because whoever threw this knows exactly where we are, and apparently, who our Master is. We need to figure out what to do next."
Brian nodded his head, and sighed. "This puts us in an inconvenient situation. Knowing where our hideout is one thing, but this person knows a bit more than they are letting on."
I in turned looked around at the faces of the males who I have come to accept as a small band of brothers. I thought to myself. Should we find some way to tell the Master what is going on? Or should we try to handle this ourselves? "What are we going to do about this? We can't just leave it."
The three of them looked at me at the same time. Toby's tics were getting worse, Tim was lighting up another cigarette, and Brian was cocking the handgun that he had hidden in his hoodie. Shaking my head, I ran upstairs. As I was ascending the steps to go to my room, I heard someone fallowing behind me. Entering my room, I looked at the outfit that I had laid out on the bed. I did not even turn to look behind me, as I started to look around. Seeing the compound bow that I was given, I threw it on the bed, and started looking for as many arrows as I could find.
"Wha-what are y-you d-d-d-doing?" I heard someone ask in a weakened voice. I stopped. Ok, one of two things is going to happen. Toby was either going to cry, or he was going to snap. Taking a deep breath, I spoke. "Toby Hun." I cringed. I had never called him Hun before, so I was not sure how he would take it. "Someone needs to go scout out the area. I was just going to get ready, then suggest someone go with me."
"I kn-kn-know, but. W-we sh-sh-should really st-stay to-together. "
Nodding my head, I weas grateful that he did not just explode on me or think that I was just going to up and leave because of a threat. No, now we were all in this together. After assembling my gear, I headed downstairs, with a ticking boy behind me. Looking at the other, I spoke. "Well, I'm going to go out and scout the area. See if I can pick up any tracks or something."
"Do you think that's a clever idea? Heading out alone?" Tim Looked at me as, I slung the bow across my shoulder and back. He had grabbed his pocketknife and placed his mask on his face. Brian raised an eyebrow as he grabbed his own mask. Placing a little box into his mouth, he placed his mask on, and pulled his hoodie up. "whoever did it, couldn't have gotten far. Let us pair off, and-"
"I'll go with _."
I'll g-go wi-with _."
"Aaaaahhh..." I gave them a look, before looking at Brian. I noticed that his voice was deeper, distorted in a way. Must have been the tiny box that he put into his mask. Both men looked at each other, before Brian spoke up again. "I'll go with _. That way we can cover more ground." With that, he took out his gun, and headed out the door. I heard Tim and toby grumbling about working with each other, and I just shrugged it off, and went to fallow them.
Once outside, the other two wandered off, while Brian and I started to scout the north part of the woods. Looking down, we carefully made our way. Keeping our focus towards the ground, we looked for any signs of footprints. After about an hour, we stopped to take a breather.
"I do not understand. We have been searching for what...? An hour now? And no sign of anyone being here. Are we missing something?"
"No, we covered everything. Maybe the others had a better chance of finding something."
With that, we turned around, and headed home. On the way, I noticed something as we walked. "This was the path that I took to try and escape you guys before I was 'reborn.'" "Chosen is the word I would use. The primary being does not normally keep anyone alive who touches those pages. He saw something in you." We entered the house to find the others standing in the small kitchen.
"Wha-what t-t-t-took you s-s-so long?" Toby asked as he walked over to me. I could see his eyes scanning my body, looking me over. "We took the northern trail. But we did not find anything. Did you guys find anything?"
"Not a clue, nor a footprint. So, either our hunter can fly, or they covered their tracks expertly." Tim threw his mask across the counter as he walked towards the stairs. "I'm heading to take a nap. _, it's your turn to cook tonight." "But I cooked last night." "Don't care, your cooking is good." And with that, he disappeared. Soon, Brian did the same, heading to his room to relax most likely. I went to say somet6hing to toby, but he too had disappeared. Rolling my eyes, I was stuck cooking. Looking outside, I noticed that the sun was retreating below the tree line. Setting everything up, I started cooking.
Once the table was set, I served the food, and was about to call up, then something outside caught my eye. It was a white ball of light. Grabbing my bow that I left on the couch, I took off outside to fallow it. heading down a path that I did not recognize, I continued to fallow the ball of light, until it disappeared. Looking around, I noticed that I was alone, and the forest around me was quiet. Too quiet. Walking a few paces to the left, I saw another light. This time in the form of a fire. A huge one at that. Cautiously, I moved out into the clearing, my bow was drawn, an arrow knocked.
Looking around. I noticed a few things. Off to the side, looked like to be an altar of some sort, around it, looked like to be the bones of animals. Moving again, I noticed a few odd things as well. A necklace, and a staff seemed to be placed carelessly on a tree, its blood red jewel glowing in the fires light. turning around, I go to head home, when I notice something off the path. It was a piece of clothing. Going closer, I noticed it was attached to a person's arm. I backed away. The person was butchered, their blood drained. I stumbled back and doubled over. I felt nauseous, like I was going to be sick. Taking a few steps back, I turned only to catch my feet on something. Falling forward, I braced myself for impact, but it never happened. Instead, I was flung upside down by my leg. Looking up, I realized that I had stepped into a trap. Looking back down. I saw what made my blood run cold.
Where no one was, there was not a person. She had long black hair, from what I could see, her appearance seemed to be in the druid form. A long cape made from animal hide, and Breeches of brown doe skin. On her face, was a mask of a large deer, its skull still streaked red with its blood. On her chest, she had nothing, except the paint (or blood) she was wearing. Raising her left hand up, I saw in horror as a rock of a decent size levitated in her hand before a cruel smile appeared on her face. And with a single hushed word, the rock went flying. It strikes the side of my head, and then, darkness.
Well, hopefully I've not lost my touch. I hope you all enjoyed the chapter! Also, looking for a beta reader. message me if intreasted.
