Upon entering his study, the demon lord's warmth he felt from the miko was replaced with an icy atmosphere. He silently took his seat at his desk as he looked at his mother sitting across from him and his half-brother staring out the window.
"Ya gonna tell me why I'm here." Inuyasha huffed "I am being cool headed as I can be for the sake of my pack, so don't waste my time. Just say whatever it is already."
"Well at least you're not calling anyone names and yelling" the lady smirked. "Jaken" she called out.
The imp scuttled into the study with a tray and a pitcher with 3 goblets filled with wine. He gave each Inu a goblet and stood to the left of the lady. She opened a box and took out a scroll placing it on the tray, "Jaken give this to Inuyasha and you may leave." Bowing deeply he did as he was told. Inuyasha picked up the scroll and looked at it curiously.
"This is a copy of your father's last will he wrote before he died. This one chose not to let you see the real thing for fear you would destroy it. The original is hidden away until such time you will be able to see it and compare for it yourself." Sipping on the refreshing wine.
Inuyasha opened the scroll and read thru it. Her eyes were fixed on his expressive-less face. Sesshomaru just wanted it over with since his good mood was ruined.
Reading thru the scroll, Inuyasha kept his face expressionless "how do I know this is all true? This could be lies." Still looking down at the scroll.
"This one swear on my late husband that it is all true." She smirked.
"I need to think about it before I can give an answer." standing up grabbing the goblet and swallowed it all in one gulp then turning for the door but was stopped.
"Inuyasha, an answer is expected before you depart. You may stay here as long as you wish along with your pack." Speaking with no emotion from his desk and swirling the wine in his goblet. "This one suggest you take this matter very seriously."
Leaving without a word or nod, Inuyasha left the study for the garden to clear his head.
"My son, do you have other plans for wanting your little brother and his pack to say here?" She looked amusingly at Sesshomaru.
"Inuyasha needs to give an answer as part of father's wishes and we need to respect his choice, mother. There are no threats with the spider hanyou as he is currently hiding from that last battle. He sustained life threatening wounds. If you don't mind, I have matters to attend to." Turning to his pile of papers.
Standing up with her goblet in hand "then I bid you good night my son." Give a small nod and left for her room.
The lady arrived in her room to find Rin curled up on her bed fast asleep as she smiled and pulled the fur blanket over her. She stepped over to the window and looked at Inuyasha sitting in the tree gazing at the stars with a sad look.
'My dear husband. Your sons have so much of you in them, especially Inuyasha's eyes and smile are just like yours. I hope the right choices are made and they can finally be at peace with each other.'
Meanwhile, Sesshomaru could not concentrate at the papers in front of him. He refilled his goblet and walked over to the window where it overlooked the spot he took the miko. He thought of the moments he shared with her and the willing kiss she gave him not long ago. 'Am I truly falling for a human woman just like you father.'
Over in the girls room, while Sango was sleeping peacefully, Kagome lay in bed thinking about the bold kiss she gave Sesshomaru. Her face still flushed red at feeling his soft skin to her lips and wondered what it would be like to kiss his lips. Smiling to herself, she finally drifted asleep.
Inuyasha gazed at the night sky. The contents of his fathers will were repeating in his mind. He felt confused, hurt, lost and torn. His answer was needed before he left the palace. 'I need to talk to Kagome. She can help me sort through this but before I do I need to search for Myoga or Totosai. I guess staying here longer won't hurt.'
