Chapter 7: Awaken…Spirit Within the Sword
Ghirahim- So glad you could come. Especially Hylia's most recent attack dog. I might've failed the master when I fought that Wolf…but I promise you this…I will not fail the master this time…(lashes his tongue at them)
Fluffy- Ok…am I the only one who finds that tongue lashing to be disturbing…
Sly- Tall, dark, and creepy…that's for sure…
Ty- We're not here for you, mate! We're just here to…
Ghirahim- Stop the master's plan? I can't let you do that.
Sly- You so-called master, Demise, is no longer with us. The history books said that Wolf finished off Demise around 10 years after the original Super Mario Brothers' Team from a 1,000 years ago defeated Tabuu.
Ghirahim- I'm aware of that…but Master Demise is still with us in this world…just in a different way.
Then Ghirahim disappears and reappears directly in front of Link and glares at Link's face.
Ghirahim- But you…every time I look at that face…I keep seeing that wretched Wolf! Sure, you appear to be wearing that same outfit that one runt from Skyloft who also rode that giant red bird always wore…but I see that retarded fool who was raised by a pack of wolve who somehow was still chosen by Hylia to wield the Master Sword. You even sound like you're voiced by the same person. Now I think I get it…you and Wolf must be kin somehow.
Link- The only thing I know me and Wolf have in common is we were both chosen to wield the Master Sword and we were both part of the Super Mario Brothers' Team united to stand up against Tabuu.
Ghirahim- You're not fooling me! I see the relationship between you and him just from that look in your eyes! It's the same look he made before he knocked me into that portal and sealed me away for a 1,000 years!
Link tried to swing the Master Sword, but Ghirahim teleported away from Link and reappeared just a few feet away from where Link was standing.
Sly (whispers to Ty)- We can't waste time playing this creep. We need to stop that spell Ganondorf is casting.
Ty (whispers to Sly)- I know, but I don't think we can get through this barrier he's surrounded us in.
Link (whispers to Ty)- Actually, I think I can cut through it with the Master Sword. Problem is, I don't think I'll be able to get all of us out before he patches the opening right back up.
Ty the turns to Fluffy and Sly.
Ty- Then you two go. Link and I will stay to deal with this creep.
Fluffy- You actually want to leave this in our hands instead of your own?
Ty- Link will obviously not be the one to get out since he's cutting the opening and Mario would not approve if I leave another member of the team behind.
Link- Thanks, Ty. But we need to distract him first before I cut an escape route.
Ghirahim- I've had enough of this talk! It's time to die…
Ghirahim makes several red daggers appear and launches them at Link and the others. Link uses his shield to block all of them before firing a sword beam at Ghirahim. Ghirahim catches the sword beam attack and make the energy fade.
Ghirahim- That sword beam trick was done to death by that swordsman with the giant bird. You think that will be able to do anything against me?
But to Ghirahim's surprise, Fluffy had gotten up close to him while he was gloating and had placed the barrel of her rocket launcher against Ghirahim's cheek.
Fluffy- Surprise you spooky creep!
Fluffy pulled the trigger and Ghirahim was hit with an explosion of a rocket this close up to him. When he got back up, Ghirahim saw nothing but a thick smoke cloud around him.
Ghirahim- This must've been what they were planning. Where are you fools hiding? I know they couldn't be too far with my barrier trapping them in like rats.
Eventually, Ghirahim heard a strange sound coming from the distance. Took him a few seconds to figure out where that sound was coming from, but he then drew his sword and rushed toward it. However, Ty's boomerangs blocked Ghirahim's sword while Ty was still holding them. As the smoke cleared, Ghirahim saw Link was cutting a whole in the barrier with the Triforce Cut.
Ghirahim- No! I won't let you escape that easily!
Ghirahim tried to get around Ty, but Ty kicked him to the ground the moment Ghirahim attempted.
Link- Ok, that should be wide enough for you and Fluffy to squeeze through. Now go!
Fluffy and Sly quickly jumped through the whole and were on the other side of Ghirahim's barrier. However, Ghirahim quickly patched the hole as soon as he got back up.
Ghirahim- They might've gotten out, but you two aren't going anywhere!
Ty- Didn't plan to, mate!
Link- That's right. If you want to fight the wielder of the Master Sword, you got it!
(Boss Cass' lair)
Boss Cass and Karlos were watching the satellite footage of Aryll and Shazza trying to protect the people of Buramudgee from this endless barrage of Zombie Frills while Ganondorf continued to keep the spell going.
Boss Cass- Not exactly like bringing the living back like how Tabuu does with his followers, but at least this way, we don't need to make living sacrifices and we can create an endless amount of undead troops that will eventually bring them to their knees.
Ganondorf- But I'm leaving the girl alive. She might be my nemesis' younger sister, but she also carries the magic of Hylia. And that's something too valuable to lose.
Boss Cass- Oh yeah, I think I remember Risky Boots mentioning that when she told me about the time you both worked together against Link and Shantae.
Karlos- But it's strange how that Ghirahim guy seems to have such an interest in you, Ganondorf.
Ganondorf- Not sure why, but he has shown he's a valuable asset.
Suddenly, the door was shot down like someone launched an explosive on the other side of it. After the door fell over, Sly and Fluffy were seen on the other side of it.
Sly- Was it really necessary to use a rocket when we could've just as easily kicked the door down?!
Fluffy- What fun would that be?
Boss Cass- They got passed Ghirahim already?
Karlos changed the image on his computer and showed Ghirahim fighting Link and Ty.
Karlos- No, it would appear Fluffy and Sly went on ahead without the others.
Boss Cass- That's an odd dissection. Abandoning Ty and the one with the magic sword to fight us?
Ganondorf- Actually, I can't afford to fight at the moment. I need to keep this spell going. If I break from this, the spell will also break and all those zombies would go back to their graves.
Boss Cass put his right wing over his face.
Boss Cass- (Grunts)…Shit! Leave all the work on me! Alright, Ganondorf. We'll keep them at bay for you, but you owe me big time for this!
Ganondorf- Fine, whatever. Just don't let them break me from my concentration.
Boss Cass- Come on, Karlos! We got some pests to get rid of.
Boss Cass pulls out a laser gun while Karlos gets into his hover chair and a laser popped out of it.
Fluffy- Pests, huh? That's a funny way to talk to someone who used to work for you!
(Back outside of Boss Cass' lair)
Link and Ty were still battling Ghirahim inside his barrier cage. Ghirahim made two red daggers float, one above him and one below, and held his right arm out while it was making this bright red glow. Link swing at it, but Ghirahim caught the Master Sword by the blade with his glowing hand.
Link- What the?!
Ghirahim- It's true that the Master Sword usually repels those that it doesn't believe to be worthy, but there have also been those that have found ways around Hylia's little spells of protection. In fact, I even took this sword once while fighting that swordsman from Skyloft.
Link tried to pull the Master Sword free, but Ghirahim held a firm grip on it. Then Link remembered those two glowing red daggers that were floating near Ghirahim as they were now pointing right at him. Luckily, Ty shot them down with his boomerangs before they could attack Link. While Ghirahim was distracted, Link kicked Ghirahim in the stomach and knocked him away from both him and the Master Sword. Ghirahim quickly pulled himself together, licked his lips, and made two swords appear.
Ghirahim- Should've known you wouldn't play fair. Trying to gang up on me like Mario Brothers did when I fought Wolf 1,000 years ago. No matter. This game has just begun.
Then Ghirahim vanished all of a sudden. While Ty and Link were trying to figure out where he disappeared to, Link noticed there was a looming shadow directly over Ty.
Link- Ty, look out! Above you!
Ty barely managed to roll out of the way before Ghirahim downward stabbed him from above. Ghirahim got his two swords stuck in the ground and Link quickly strikes at him with the Master Sword. After being knocked back a bit away from Link, Ghirahim snaps his fingers and several of those floating daggers surrounded Link and Ty.
Ghirahim- Let's see if you can knock them all down this time!
Ghirahim snapped his figures again and all of the floating red daggers rushed at them. Link managed to knock the ones shot at him away with his sword spin attack, but Ty created a barrier after activating the Sacred Bunyip power inside of him.
Ghirahim- That power from the Bunyip realm. I might not have met all the members of the team Marco Mario led, but I am very well aware of a Tasmanian tiger named Simba who also acquired that same power you're using. I wouldn't be surprised if you're Simba's kin like how I know Link is Wolf's kin. But this is starting to get more annoying than it needs to be…
Suddenly, Ghirahim's body made a change in appearance. His body looked like it was made out of a smooth garnet, most of his hair looked like it had receded (since half of his face was covered by it earlier), and there appeared to be what looked like a yellow gem in his chest.
Ty- What is this supposed to be, mate?! Some kind of transformation?
Link- I don't know!
Then Link heard the Master Sword making a humming sound, but nothing Link heard the Master Sword make before. It was also making a light blue glow.
Link- But the Master Sword is reacting very strange to it.
Ghirahim also noticed the sword's reaction.
Ghirahim (thinks)- What the…is she…of course she isn't. She went to sleep…permanently after Master Demise first fell to that sword. There's no way she could wake up again after all these centuries later.
Ghirahim creates a giant sword that looked like it was made out of pixels and grabbed hold of the handle with both hands and swung it at Link and Ty. They managed to dodge, but part of Link's tunic and part of Ty's shorts were cut a bit.
Ghirahim- As you can see…I am a weapon…without mercy!
Ghirahim rushed at Ty and swung that large sword at him. Ty held both of his boomerangs in front of himself to attempt to block, but Ty was knocked to the ground a bit of distance away from Link.
Link- Ty!
But before Link could try and help Ty, Ghirahim swung that large sword at Link. Link blocked with the shield. Link swung his Master Sword, but Ghirahim managed to knock the Master Sword out of Link's hand and into the air. But little did anyone notice; the Master Sword was actually floating in midair.
Ghirahim- Time to succeed what I failed to do when I fought that Wolf!
Ghirahim attempted to strike at Link while his guard was broken, but to everyone's surprise, the Master Sword flew up and blocked Ghirahim's attack. As if it was being wielded by invisible hands.
Ghirahim- Impossible…you were supposed to be put in an endless slumber after that battle in the sacred grounds!
Then a bright blue light flashed from the Master Sword and it shattered the Ghirahim's large sword and launched him into the air. Ghirahim landed back on the ground a large distance away from Link and changed back to his normal form after he crashed to the ground.
(Back inside Boss Cass' lair)
Sly and Fluffer were still fighting both Boss Cass and Karlos while Ganondorf was keeping that spell going. Karlos fired a laser from his hover chair, but Fluffy fired a rocket from her rocket launcher to block the laser. Then Fluffy jumped Karlos from the smoke of the collision as and pinned Karlos to the ground.
Karlos- You think you've got me cornered just because you got me like this?
Then a mechanical arm from another end of Karlos' hover chair appeared and zapped Fluffy with a taser.
Karlos- I'm not as easy to put down as you think.
The laser from Karlos' hover chair fired at Fluffy and knocked her to the wall. When the smoke cleared and Fluffy stood to her feet, she smiled and was holding a button in her hand.
Fluffy- I also have a few new tricks up my sleeve.
Turns out Fluffy placed an EMP on Karlos' hover chair. And when Fluffy pushed the button, Karlos' hover chair completely shut down and dropped to the floor.
Karlos- What the…?!
Before Karlos knew it, Fluffy had already grabbed Karlos by the neck and pulled him off screen for a beating. At the same time, Boss Cass fired his laser gun at Sly, but Sly dodged and tossed his Doomerangs at Boss Cass. Boss Cass ducked before the Doomerangs could hit him.
Boss Cass- Nice try, but you missed, Sly!
Sly grinned slightly and made a slight jester with his fingers. Then the two Doomerangs turned around and struck Boss Cass in the back of his head. While Boss Cass was stunned from that attack, Sly rushed in and kicked Boss Cass in the head and knocked him to the ground.
Boss Cass- Ow…my head…
Sly- Guess you forgot I can control the Doomerangs in midflight.
Then Ganondorf looked downwards towards where Link and Ty were fighting Ghirahim.
Ganondorf- Huh…? What is that strange glow?
Before Ganondorf could say anything else, that bright blue light burst into the room and actually knocked Ganondorf from where he was standing. Not only did this break Ganondorf's spell to raise the dead, it also knocked him into the wall. Ganondorf also crashed into Boss Cass and Karlos. When the light faded, everyone noticed that Ganondorf was no longer keeping that spell running.
Boss Cass- Ganondorf, get the hell off of me!
Ganondorf- Stuff it, you overgrown Thanksgiving dinner!
Karlos- Uh…shouldn't we be focusing on the fact that we still have Sly and Fluffy to deal with?
Boss Cass and Ganondorf returned their attention to Sly and Fluffy who were ready to attack again.
Ganondorf- Damn it! We'll have to flee again! But this fight against you heroes isn't over…
Ganondorf threw his cape over Boss Cass, Karlos, and himself. Then the three of them vanished, as if they were never there.
Sly- They got away again…
Then Fluffy noticed something on the ground.
Fluffy- Hold on…I think they dropped something.
Then Fluffy picked up what appeared to be an ancient piece of paper, like a page from a book that's thousands of years old.
Fluffy- I think we've just found the Lord of the Universe's missing spell page.
(Back outside of Boss Cass' lair)
Ghirahim struggled to get up, but he noticed the Master Sword floating directly in front of him. After another bright flash of light, the Master Sword changed form. Not in the form of another weapon, but into a more humanoid appearance. Similar to Ghirahim's garnet-like form, only this being seemed more blue with a matching cape.
Ghirahim- How could you awaken…? You put yourself to a permanent sleep…
Fi- Like you, I too am bound to protect the master.
Ghirahim- You'll pay for this…
Ghirahim snapped his fingers and teleported out of the area. Fi then turned her attention to Link and Ty before approaching them.
Fi- Master, are you ok?
Link- Uh…I'm fine, but…master…?
Ty- We appreciate the help there, shela, but can you tell us who are you?
Fi- Very well. My name is Fi, an artificial intelligence the goddess, Hylia, created to aid and protect Hylia's chosen champion tasked with protecting Hyrule. For many years now, I have remained dormant while taking the form of the Master Sword. And even though I was in hibernation, I was still aware of all the masters wielding the sword. Include that of Master Hope.
Link- Hope?
Fi- Hope was the real name of the master who referred to himself as the Wolf of Hyrule 1,000 years ago. But I have come out of my endless sleep because my master needed my help.
Fi bowed to Link as Link and Ty looked at each other with a hint of confusion in their eyes.
(Later at Ganon's Tower)
Ganondorf was sitting on his throne with a somewhat displeased look on his face while Boss Cass was passing the room while complaining.
Boss Cass- Can't believe this plan of yours backfired! Should've known better than to let you lead this plot for conquest!
Ganondorf- Boss Cass…shouldn't you be going back to Cassopolis instead of wining like a baby in my tower?
Boss Cass- I'm not returning to Cassopolis until I know it's safe again, because Bush Rescue could set up another arrest warrant for me right now!
Ganondorf- Shoot me…
Then Ghirahim teleported in front of Ganondorf.
Boss Cass- What the…
Ganondorf- I'm surprised to see you again. I almost thought you ran away after that failure.
Ghirahim- I will not run away again. I failed Master Demise after that Wolf knocked me through a portal and now I've failed again…
Ghirahim bowed to Ganondorf.
Ghirahim- And I will except my punishment…
Ganondorf- Hmm…You know what…this might not be a total loss after all. You've proven that you have great value, Ghirahim. Perhaps you can continue to serve me as I continue to claim the Triforce and Hyrule for myself.
Ghirahim actually looked happy when he heard Ganondorf say those words.
Ghirahim- Yes! Thank you very much! I promise not to disappoint my master this time!
(Later at Buramudgee)
Kyrin was helping Ty and Link repair the damage done to Buramudgee.
Kyrin- I'm glad you got that page with instructions to the Dead Possum back. But I'm surprised Fi was able to wake up again after all these years.
Ty- You know any more about her, mate?
Kyrin- Not much. During the time when Skyward Sword took place, my father was still teaching my and my brother how to walk. I was that young back then.
Link- So…this sword has been her this whole time.
Kyrin- Guess you'll be needing her since Ganondorf now has Ghirahim by his side.
Link- I guess so. By the way, how is you father doing now that he's got the Dead Possum back?
Kyrin- He's tightening security around the Crystal Monastery since Ganondorf did break into his house twice. Let's hoping there won't be a third time.
The End
Epilogue-
(Marx's dream)
Marx was standing in an empty dark room all alone. Before Marx realized he was in a dream, a jester with a similar appearance to his own appeared.
Jayx- Hello again, Marx.
Marx- Oh no! Not you again!
Jayx- What's the matter? Don't appreciate I'm trying to prevent you from suffering a fate worse than death?
Marx- If you want to help, how about leaving me alone and letting me get some sleep! It's the same thing night after night after night!
Jayx then pressed his face extremely close to Marx's face.
Jayx- And if you don't listen to my warnings, you'll eventually suffer the fate I almost suffered when I was working for Tabuu.
Marx- Even if wanted to leave Tabuu, his mark on my body is the only thing keeping me alive. And if I step out of line, Tabuu will just shut me down.
Jayx- I'll admit, it's not easy to cut those chains, but it's also not impossible. After…I did it…and so can you…
Then Jayx vanished. However, Marx then felt a chill crawling down his spine…literally.
(Tabuu's library in Subspace)
Marx had woken up after realizing that Fawful had shoved ice cubes into his clothes.
Marx- COLD! Cold, cold, cold, cold!
Fawful- HAHAHAHAHA! I have fury!
Marx- FAWFUL!
Fawful- Yes?
Fawful just stood there and gave Marx a wide grin.
Marx- What's the big idea?!
Fawful- Marx drooling over table again. Tabuu want Marx clean up mess…again…
Fawful threw a washcloth at Marx's face before also handing him a bucket.
Marx- Fine…just leave me alone…
Fawful left the room as Marx began cleaning up his drool puddle on the table. Then Marx noticed a strange object under one of the tables.
Marx- Huh…? What's this?
Marx reached under and pulled up a strange puppet.
Marx- Oh, this is that old childhood toy Tabuu's mother made for him when he was a kid. Now that I look at it, is really does look similar to me.
Just then, a string snapped from the puppet.
Marx- Yikes! That makes two times a string snapped on this thing! I better put it back before Tabuu finds out about this!
