"Jay I can explain." Hailey's mouth was dry, the room was spinning and she didn't know how to start.

"You are pregnant? Is it mine?"

"Yes and of course yes. Who do you take me for?."

"What the hell Hailey why didn't you tell me?" His blood was boiling with anger.

He was mad, his wasn't screaming but she could tell from his tone and his face. " I don't think we should talk about here. Let's talk about it at home."

"Let's go. I just lost my appetite anyways. We'll speak at your house."

The emphasis he put in the phrase "your house" hurt deep. He dropped a few bills on the table and stormed to the parking lot she silently followed him. The ride was quiet but as soon as they walked in the house he was over the waiting.

"So want to explain it to me now."

"Well you already know."

"How could you keep something this important from me? Were you ever going to tell me?"

"Of course, but it's not easy. I have been meaning to tell you but never found the courage to do it."

"You've been lying to me. Now I understand why you are not working in the field. Isn't it enough I am walking around practically with a blindfold in my eyes? I expected you to tell me the truth. Makes me wonder what else you've omitted."

"Nothing else. I've answered every question you have and told you everything."

"Of course, everyone knows, and no one told me. Bunch of friends and brother I have. And what a wife."

She had it and she let him know. "That's it. I have had it. If no one told you is because I asked them not to. They are our family and everyone has been trying to help you and make you feel normal. I have been bending over backwards to give you your space and respect your feelings. Have you stopped to think about how this is affecting me? No of course not. Guess how I felt when you did not recognize me? Or when your ex walked into your hospital room? It's been hell Jay."

"It hasn't been a walk in the park for me either."

"Really? You don't remember us but I do. I remember when you told me you loved me, when you asked me to marry you and our wedding. I remember every moment and every time I see you and you don't look at me the way you usually do it kills me. I see everyone looking at me with pity, oh poor Hailey pregnant and her husband doesn't even remember her. This has been horrible. The only thing that has kept me going is this baby." She was sobbing at this point but she didn't care. Jay was just looking at her with his arms crossed over his chest.

"I didn't choose this Hailey. This happened to me and I am sorry its affected you but it still didn't give you the right to keep this secret from me. I have a right to know I am going to be a father."

"And what do you think about that? Are you happy? Of course not because in your mind I am a stranger and you aren't even married. Hell you are probably thinking about Erin anyways."

"Hailey stop it. First stop putting words in my mouth and second Erin has nothing to do with this."

"No then why did you call her? You know what I don't care I made the right decision, and I would do it again."

"I don't recognize you Hailey. How could you say that? I don't know how I ever married you. I can't be here anymore."

Hailey saw the door close behind him and crumbled to the floor. Things were worse than ever and she didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Jay doesn't remember the trip to Will's apartment. He was in a daze going through the events of the last hour. Hailey's pregnant. He is going to be a father. It was a sucker punch, when he heard the word pregnant he felt the air leave his lungs, he wasn't ready for that. He didn't want kids did he? He wasn't ready to be a dad. He never thought about kids when he was with Erin.

"How was your day bro?"

He was so immersed in his thoughts he hadn't seen Will. "How could you not tell me I'm going to be a dad? You are my brother Will. That is something I needed to know."

"Jay you need to slow down. Hailey said she would tell you when it was the right time and made me promise I wouldn't say anything. She's your wife."

"That's not fair Will. I don't even know what to think. I am not ready for this."

"I can't tell you what to think but you are ready. You called me to tell me I am going to be an uncle but I was working so you left a voicemail. I still have it listen. Hey Will its your brother. Why didn't you answer? I have big news. Call me back. Oh forget it I can't wait. You are going to be an uncle! I am going to be a dad. A baby half me and half Hailey. Can you believe it. I still can't. I feel like I am floating. I didn't know I could feel this way. Will I am the luckiest man alive. (H- Jay what did he say?) He didn't answer I am leaving him a voicemail. (H- Don't do that just wait to speak to him) I can't Hails I want to scream oh my god I love you so much still cant believe we are going to have a baby.

Jay was speechless – hearing himself on that voicemail was freaky. He sounded so happy. He was suddenly jealous of that Jay. "I freaked out when I found out."

"What did you do?"

"I had a huge fight with Hailey."

"Put yourself in her position. I am sure its been horrible."

He was tired of the whole things and just wanted to be alone. "I don't want to talk about it anymore Will. I am done with this day." He took a shower and went straight to bed. He tossed and turned with images of a little blonde girl with Hailey's eyes invading his dreams.

his phone was going off and after a few rings he picked up without looking. "Hello"

"Jay I need you."

He was immediately awake. "Hailey what's going on?"

"Jay I am scared something's wrong with the baby."

Jay was already getting dressed. Hailey was crying on the phone and he was terrified. "I am on my way. It'll be okay I promise."

"I don't want to lose our baby Jay."

Her words went straight to his heart. He didn't want anything to happen to the baby either or to Hailey. "Just hold on Hails I'm coming."

He asked her to stay on the phone. He could hear her whimper and cry and felt helpless. Thankfully there was barely any traffic and he turned on the sirens making it Hailey in record time. He was about to ring the doorbell but just use the key in his keychain labeled home. "I am here."

"I am in the bathroom."

He found her sitting in the floor, face red and full of tears in nothing but a nightgown. "Hails what's going on?"

She was holding her stomach "It hurts so much. I can't move."

"Hold on." He went to the bedroom and started opening drawers until he found some sweats and a jacket. Went back to the bathroom and practically dressed her. "We are going to Med." He didn't hesitate to pick her up surprised at how light she felt in his arms. "I got you."

She put her arms around his neck and buried her face in his neck. He put her in the passenger seat and ran to the driver seat. When he went to turn the truck on he saw his hands trembling. He looked over to Hailey she was white as a ghost and shivering. He pulled up the seat divider and pulled her to him draping his free arms over her.

" I am sorry."

"Shh you have nothing to be sorry about. I was an ass."

" I am so scared."

His heart was breaking, and unshed tears were burning his eyes. "Its going to be okay. I am sure the baby's fine. I am here with you. I got you."

She melted more into him and despite the circumstances he couldn't help but like how right it felt to have her in his arms. He didn't want to let her go ever.

He pulled into Med 10 minutes later, stopped in the ambulance entrance not caring about the security guy screaming at him to move and carried her out. "I need help."

Immediately nurses and doctors with a gurney were in front of him. He placed Hailey in the gurney holding on to her hand.

"What's wrong with her?"

"I don't know. She's in pain. She's pregnant."

"Sir you have to stay here."

The nurse made him stay in the hall while they wheeled Hailey into a room. "Please tell me they are going to be okay?"

"The doctors will find out what's going on."

"Please take care of my wife and child." The nurse gave him a sympathetic look and went in the room leaving him alone to do something he barely remembered how to do anymore, pray.
