"Hey... do you guys think that the Headmaster might be a little... off?" Ruby asked. Teams RWBY and JNPR were currently sitting at their usual lunch table. The question seemed particularly relevant, as said Headmaster was standing on the ceiling above them, upside down, reading an erotic novel series.
His mug was apparently defying gravity in allowing the liquid inside to stay in the cup, because Ozpin had clearly not compensated the angle of it for his newly enlightened view.
"I wouldn't say... off..." Weiss ventured, deliberately avoiding to look up.
"Why, has he been doing something crazy?" Nora asked.
Many looks were exchanged.
"Maybe it's just a ruse. To throw people off?" Blake offered.
The teenagers, in unison, looked directly up at the man in question. He retaliated by taking a sip from his mug, apparently unconcerned with the complicated physical forces he was ignoring.
"Maybe..." Blake reiterated.
"What if he's just showing off?" Jaune asked.
Ren blinked. It was very expressive, and represented several lines of conversation. Sadly, Jaune was still learning to speak Ren, Pyrrha had barely started, and Nora was either fluent and uncaring, or completely ignorant to his manner of conversation.
Speaking of Pyrrha, she was currently debating on whether she could even possibly duplicate the feat displayed. She didn't believe that she could copy the indefinite standing, or the mug of liquid, but she was inspired to practice greater 3-dimensional maneuvers.
The conversation died as Ozpin closed his book audibly. By audibly, it should be noted that the rather loud cafeteria was quieter than the decibels produced from his casual display.
"Miss Nikos. I believe that Mister Arc will progress leaps and bounds faster if you ignore the training you are familiar with and overwhelm him to the point that he has to react. Katas and form are not his forté, but rather instinctual reactions." Ozpin announced, then vanished. Leaves fell to the table and covered their trays.
"Rose petals are way better..." Ruby grumbled.
"Um, I think that sounds like an awful idea. Right Pyr?" Jaune asked nervously.
The redhead cocked her head considerately. "No, no. This has merit. If I don't take it easy on you, you'll adapt or fail, and failing often hurts."
Kakashi, leaning against a wall just outside the nearest window, nodded. Good deed done for the day, he vanished again. There were at least twice as many leaves this time, and just like his page turning jutsu, any other shinobi would have been disgustedly impressed with the skill he used to funnel the leaves through the cracked window.
~Line Break~
There was a problem. The problem was that, a disciplined and totally serious shinobi such as Kakashi Hatake of the great and powerful bloodline of the White Fang, was reviewing his intel, and wondering how exactly he could fix his current dilemma.
This Ozma character, some goofy samurai wannabe, was a total dick. He was leading a resistance of "noble" and "heroic" people against his ex wife, a woman who had committed the dire sins of: defying a god in the hopes of getting to see her husband again, and lying to said god in an attempt of the same.
Meanwhile, Ozma was guilty of deciding that a couple of gods were more important than his wife, and dramatically setting himself up as her foe, claiming to desire to kill her and resummon these same gods to take over the planet again as rulers when humanity had "proven itself worthy."
So... Kakashi wouldn't normally bother himself with this level of drama, it being well beyond the scope of even his more ridiculous books, but he had been unfortunately substituted in as the replacement lead for the Paladin character.
"I'm not cut out for marriage..." he whined. Masculinely, if you asked him.
He also sighed. "What kind of loser can't do something about a deathless person... Orochimaru was only dangerous because he was actively powerful. If you had a weak shinobi that was deathless, all you'd have to do is... oh, right. Damnit Asuma. That's what you get for focusing on gimmick weapons instead of landscape changing abilities."
