Disclaimer: I do not own Charmed.
A/N: I decided to skip the rest of Valhalley Of Dolls part 1, and Valhalley Of Dolls part 2, because those chapters would almost exactly follow what actually happened in those episodes.
EVIL IN THE INSIDE
Chris turned to look at Zeke, confused. "Why are we here?" he asked. "In the past?"
"I don't know…" Zeke replied, equally perplexed. "But I feel as though I'm forgetting something." He shrugged. "Should we go back to the present then?"
"I can't," Chris said regretfully. "Leo's assigned me a charge. Besides, we must have come here for some important reason. We're bound to remember sometime soon."
"Well, I may as well go down and vanquish a few demons. Make life a bit easier for us when we go back."
Chris nodded. "Yeah, you go do that. I need to find Leo. He asked to meet me at P3." With a small smile, Chris orbed there and saw Leo talking to a young, blonde witch.
"Chris!" Leo said. "This is Natalie. Natalie, this is Chris, your whitelighter."
"We already met yesterday," Natalie said, confused.
Chris and Leo turned to each other. "Did we?" Chris asked. "I don't remember. Actually, I can't remember anything from yesterday…"
"Neither can I," Leo said, frowning. "Do you think it means anything?"
"I don't know."
"Well, I have to go," Leo said, brushing aside his worries. "I should ask the other Elders if they know what's happening and why we've forgotten an entire day. You two… get to know each other." He eyed Chris for a moment. "I'll be watching you," he said, too quiet for Natalie to hear.
He orbed out, leaving Chris and Natalie alone. Chris opened his mouth to say something, but moments later, his words were lost. He couldn't remember them- they were unimportant, anyway. Natalie was important- the most important thing. She was all that mattered.
She gave him a small smirk and walked towards him, pulling her jacket off and leaving it to drop on the floor. Chris stayed rooted to the spot, entranced, as she ran her hands up his chest and down his arms.
Leaning in, she whispered in his ear, "I'm very interested in getting to know you, Chris…
"Hey Chris, what do y-" Zeke stopped abruptly, taking in the scene before him. Chris was flopped in a chair at P3, pulling a shirt over his head. "Chris," he said, slowly. "What have you been doing?"
"Chris, where are- oh. Hello," a soft voice said. Zeke turned around to see a woman walk in wearing a blue, button up shit- presumably one of Chris's.
"This is Natalie. She's my charge," Chris said, looking dazed.
Zeke frowned. "Chris, aren't you supposed to be protecting her? Not-"
"Oh, he was using protection," the witch interrupted.
"Not what I meant," Zeke said, grimly. "Chris, could I speak to you for a minute?"
Chris nodded and stood up to follow Zeke.
"What are you doing?" Zeke hissed, once they were out of earshot. "If this is your way of saying you don't want to be with me anymore, then-".
"Of course I'm not trying to say that!" Chris protested. "I just… I don't know what came over me. She's just perfect…" he shook his head. "No, no, I mean… Oh I don't know! Something weird is happening and I've no idea what."
"Yeah, you're right about that," Zeke said, slowly. He glanced past Chris to the witch, who was playing with the hem of the shirt, pretending she wasn't trying to eavesdrop. "Chris, I think she's evil," he said, quieter.
"What do you mean evil? That's ridiculous," Chris said, raising an eyebrow.
"Doesn't she seem familiar to you?" Zeke asked. "I could've sworn I'd seen her in a book at Magic School before…"
Chris laughed. "Zeke, stop worrying. She's a witch. The Elders wouldn't have assigned me a demon. Speaking of which, don't you have some demons to vanquish?"
Zeke nodded. "Yeah, I do. Be careful." Then he shimmered out.
"Chris?" Natalie called. "Everything alright?"
Chris nodded. "Everything's fine."
Zeke shimmered into the manor and looked inside every room, only to find no one. He headed up to the attic, and when he neared, he heard voices. He placed his hand on the handle, ready to turn it and walk in, when suddenly, he was back in the Underworld.
He glanced around, confused. The cave looked familiar. Admittedly, the Underworld was very bleak and deary, and so the majority of it looked the same. But Zeke was sure this was where he'd been the previous day. There'd been a shift in the universe, he knew that much. He could feel it. But what exactly had happened, he did not know. Sighing, he shimmered back to P3 where he and Chris had agreed to meet after dealing with the charge, deciding that if he was going to figure this out, he'd need Chris to help him.
But there Chris was, flopped on a chair, pulling a t-shirt over his head. Zeke frowned. A part of him felt as though this had happened before.
"Chris, what are you doing?"
Chris opened his mouth to reply, when a blonde witch walked into the room.
"Who's this Chris?" she asked.
Zeke eyed her, suspiciously, well aware that he'd seen her somewhere before. He just couldn't quite figure out where.
"I'm Zeke," he said, harshly. "Chris's boyfriend."
The witch gave a little "Oh," of surprise. "I'll leave you two alone then," she said, walking back out.
"Chris," Zeke hissed, furiously. "What the hell were you thinking?"
"I don't know!" Chris cried. "I couldn't help it. She's just so perfect! I think I've seen her before though… maybe at Magic School." He shook his head. "It doesn't matter. Which demons did you vanquish?"
But Zeke wasn't listening. She seemed familiar to Chris too. But he didn't remember ever seeing her among the witches at magic school. Then again, by then, she'd have been much older. However, he was sure he'd seen her as how she looked now.
Then he realised where he'd seen her. A book. A book about evil beings. Without another thought, he shimmered to the manor, ignoring Chris's perplexed expression.
"Piper!" Zeke shouted.
Piper came running into the room, protectively holding Wyatt.
"Oh, it's you," she said, halting abruptly when she caught sight of him.
Zeke watched Wyatt, confused, but passed it off as Piper looking after a friend's child. It didn't matter, anyway.
"You need to call for Leo," he said, urgently.
"What?" Piper asked. "Why?"
"Chris is in danger and I need to talk to him. I think his new charge is a siren, and he's with her right now, which means we don't have a lot of time. I can't call for him myself since I'm not his charge. Piper, please!" Zeke explained, in a rush.
Piper was still processing everything Zeke had hurriedly told her, but one thing stood out in her mind.
Chris is in danger.
"Leo!" she shouted, gazing up at the ceiling. "Leo! Get down here right now! It's important!"
Leo orbed in and sighed. "Piper, you know I'm not supposed to be here, and- who is that you're holding?"
"He's your son, Wyatt," Piper said. "But that doesn't matter right now. Chris is in danger and Zeke said he needs to talk to you."
Zeke was staring at the child in Piper's arms. Wyatt… He couldn't remember a Wyatt. As far as he knew, Piper and Leo's only son was Leo.
"Zeke!" Leo shouted, bringing him back to the present. "What's wrong with Chris?"
"I think a siren is after him. That new charge you assigned to him. It's her!"
"We already vanquished the Siren," Piper pointed out.
"Doesn't mean there aren't others," Zeke said, impatiently. "If you don't believe me, she's in a book in Magic School." He paused for a moment. "In fact, I could've sworn I took a picture of that page."
Ignoring Piper and Leo's surprised expressions, Zeke whipped out his phone and scrolled through the camera roll, quickly and desperately.
"Here!" he cried, triumphantly. "It says Natalie was a witch who became a siren when her lover stabbed her and watched her bleed to death. Now, she preys on young men, entrancing them with her song before sucking the life out of them."
"Can't Piper just blow her up?" Leo asked.
"No, I have to stay here and try work out why the Cleaners erased Wyatt," Piper said.
Zeke ignored them. "It says that to defeat the Siren, the man in question must snap out of the trance and stab her of their own free will." Zeke looked up at Leo. "We need to get to him, immediately." Hurrying to the kitchen, he grabbed the biggest, sharpest knife he saw before rushing back to Leo, and grabbing his arm.
"Orb to P3!" Zeke cried, as Leo hesitated. "Look, I know you don't trust me, but Chris is in danger. If we don't go there now, we may not have enough time. It might me too late as it is!"
Leo immediately orbed to P3, where they saw Chris and Natalie kissing, a smoke-like mist coming from their mouths.
"No!" Zeke shouted.
Leo grabbed Natalie while Zeke grabbed Chris, and they fought to pull the two apart. Chris stumbled backwards and collapsed in the chair, coughing.
"Chris, Chris!" Zeke cried. "Chris! It's me. It's Zeke. Remember how we met. Remember what we've been through."
Chris looked up. "Zeke…"
"Take this," Zeke said, thrusting the knife towards Chris. "You need to stab her with it. To vanquish her. Come on, Chris, you can do this!"
Nodding, Chris shakily stood up and lunged at Natalie, who was struggling to break free from Leo's grasp. Leo threw her to the ground, where Chris immediately plunged the knife deep into her back.
The next day, Leo, Chris and Zeke were sat at P3 together. All the confusion from the previous day had been cleared up when the Cleaners returned Wyatt to Piper, and gave them back their memories of him.
"How did the Elders make that mistake?" Chris cried, outraged. "How could they not realise they'd given me a Siren as a charge?"
"She was a former witch," Leo pointed out. "She could have cloaked her evil from them, and faked everything."
"But Sirens don't have that kind of power," Zeke said.
Leo nodded. "But if she still had her witch powers, it would have been quite possible."
"But still!" Chris exclaimed. "You'd think that after all these years, they'd have the intelligence to tell the difference between a witch and a Siren, even if said Siren was a former witch."
"At least you're alive," Leo said.
"Yeah, because of Zeke." Chris turned to the half demon, guiltily. "I'm sorry about what I did. You know… kissing her, and…"
Zeke smirked at his embarrassment. "It's fine. It wasn't you're fault. I know you'd never do that intentionally."
"Yes, well," Chris said, standing up. "I should go back to the sisters."
"I should go as well," Leo said. "And don't worry, Chris. I'm not going to come back with another charge for you."
"Good to know."
Leo orbed out and Chris left soon after, but Zeke stayed where he was. These recently occurred events had got him thinking about who might have turned Wyatt. The one who tried to kill Chris had been thought to be good. But she'd turned out to be evil.
What if the person who turned Wyatt wasn't a demon? What if it was someone they trusted?
