AN: Happy May the 4th everyone,
Today is a great day for Star Wars fans for we finally are getting the first episode of the Bad Batch! I can't wait to see what they have in store for the fans and who that girl, Omega, is (hopefully she isn't an annoying character).
I watched the finale of RWBY Volume 8 and...it left a sour taste in my mouth. It started good then slowly fell flat, at least to me. There were things that should have been explored before like the relics and how they work. I didn't like Ironwood's fall into villainy, and they made Penny human only to kill her off to transfer the Maiden powers to Winter two episodes later. But the end credit scene opens up a lot of theories about where they are and how significant it is. Hopefully, it does a better job than the last one did.
Keep in mind this is my opinion about the volume, so you're entitled to yours and I'm entitled to mine so let's not get into a big debate about it and enjoy the story.

STAR WARS: RWBY CHRONICLES
CHAPTER VII: Homecoming
Arrival to Remnant!
After a dangerous journey through the depths of the Unknown Region, Jaune and his crew encountered a galactic phenomenon bringing them directly to the planet itself.
However, upon arriving at the planet, Jaune realized it was the same one that haunted his visions for the last couple of days foretelling shadowy monsters overtaking the planet with a dark woman behind them.
Meanwhile, the Empire begins making their own preparations to chase after the young Jedi and explore this planet the D'Nar family had discovered...
Darth Vader was one of the most terrifying beings in the galaxy without question.
From his artificial breathing that sent shivers down the backs of any who heard it, intimidating appearance that made him tower over his underlings like a black monolith constantly judging them, to his notorious reputation as a warrior killing many Jedi survivors, insurgents and Imperial officers who he found incompetent at their duties there was no reason not to fear him.
Many saw him as the Empire's first weapon designed to inspire fear in those foolish enough to oppose the might of the Empire as well as keep those already under the Empire's thrall in line from doing anything impetuous. Vader's duties ranged from being sent into battles to claim victory over new planets for the Empire's expansion, intimidating CEOs of valuable galaxy-wide corporations into "cooperating" with their demands and expectations, and hunting down any Jedi who managed to escape the Great Jedi Purge and went into hiding especially the one responsible for his current condition.
Vader entered his meditation chamber as he knelt down on a pad which lit up as Vader stepped on it. After a few moments, the holoprojector activated, and the image of an old man with a wrinkled malformed face wearing a dark hood stared at him with piercing yellow eyes.
"Lord Vader," said the slithering, insidious voice of the old man, "I trust you have an update for me about this matter?"
This was Emperor Palpatine, one of the most devilish beings ever to live in the galaxy and the only one that Vader knelt to. If Vader was a black obelisk of darkness, then Palpatine would be a temple of evil filled with the vilest of thoughts.
"Yes, my master. It appears the Jedi ran off into the Unknown Regions in search of a planet a Zygerrian slaver has exploited for slavery," Vader reported, looking up at the large holographic head of his master staring into his harsh sickly gold-yellow eyes that resonated nothing but power and sinister ambition.
"Is that so?" Palpatine asked with intrigue as an insidious smile flashed onto his face for a brief moment, "What is the name of this planet?"
"The Zygerrian prisoner revealed that the locals call it Remnant," he revealed, "It is a backwater world with no spacefaring technology at its disposal and is hidden behind a star cluster nebula. The Zygerrian has offered his aid in navigating through the nebula in exchange for his life."
Palpatine's smile grew into a grin at the news of a new planet.
"We cannot allow this opportunity to slip by us Lord Vader," Palpatine grinned, "This planet may prove valuable to my empire be it its resources or people. I will dispatch a small fleet to investigate this planet along with the ship orbiting Zygerria to discover what the empire could gain from it."
"I shall begin preparations immediately."
"No," Palpatine commanded, "You are to return to Coruscant immediately...I have need of you elsewhere. The Inquisitors shall be in charge of this expedition and hunt down this Jedi."
"As you wish my master," Vader said as the projection of the emperor faded away into nothingness. He rose up and walked off the pad as he entered his meditation chamber to contact the Inquisitors onboard the Oppressor with a connection forming between the two Star Destroyers immediately.
"Lord Vader," The 13th Brother answered, "What is thy bidding?"
"The emperor has need of me elsewhere and has commanded that you and the others take over the mission to hunt down the Jedi, as well as lead an expedition on the planet he is hiding on. Ships equipped with the necessary supplies will make their way to you soon. From now on you are in charge of the Oppressor," Vader informed as the 13th Brother bowed.
"It will be done, Lord Vader. We shall not fail the emperor."
"See that you don't," Vader ominously threatened before the transmission ended.
The 13th Brother could only grin as he went to spread the word of the new mission they would have in both hunting down the Jedi and exploring a new world for the Empire to plunder and ravage.

Remnant...That was the name of the planet that tormented him in his dreams of survival, and warnings of shadowy monstrosities.
The visions replayed in his mind over and over again like a broken holomessage as he recalled each word spoken to him by the strange unfamiliar voices as he gazed upon the planet from afar.
"In passing we achieve immortality," he whispered to himself as he repeated one of the lines in his head as it began to ache and anxiety rushed into him like a raging flood drowning a peaceful city.
"Who was that? And what did she mean?!" Jaune screamed inside his mind recalling the kind, gentle voice of an unknown female.
To make things worse the planet was like one large Force Nexus due to how strong it was with the Force. But instead of being dedicated completely to one side of the Force the balance constantly flowed between the light side and dark side, as if both sides claimed the planet as theirs and were battling each other of the Force constantly battled each other like rabid animals with one desperate to destroy while the other fought for the protection of all life.
"Okay, okay easy now Jaune. J-Just because the planet looks the same from the visions doesn't mean it actually is the same one r-right?" he thought to himself with uncertainty as he continued to stare at the planet the children come from.
His eyes focused specifically on the dark continent that resonated the most dark side energy like a black tumor-filled heart pulsing with sinister feelings pouring out of it like a continent dedicated to the dark side of the Force.
A gut feeling started to form in the pit of his stomach as he knew what was waiting for him there and felt the inkling of another emotion rising within him at the prospect.
"Can't let fear overtake me, I still have a job to do," Jaune mentally chastised himself, as he shook his head to get back to the task at hand; getting the children back to their homes, and then maybe he could decide on either leaving the world due to the presence of the dark side or making a bass to lay low.
"Hey Arf," the droid's head swiveled to face him, "Any chance you could pick up some sort of signal from the planet? The kids said they use something called "Cross Continental Transmit Towers" instead of satellites to send messages and stuff like that," Jaune said as the blue and yellow droid beeped his response before plugging into the ship's console and began scanning for some type of broadcast signal coming from the planet, "Oh, and make sure you're not tracked," he added as he went to the refresher near the cockpit turning the sink knob and letting the cool water pool in his hands before splashing it onto his face.
"Gotta stay focused!" he admonished himself hoping the cool water would help him cool off and get out of his thoughts, "I'll worry about everything else once I get the kids back home,"
Currently, the kids were in the lounge room admiring the pictures Jaune took for them on the camera he bought hoping it would be enough to help cope with the pain the slavers inflicted on them.
He splashed his face a few more times, before reaching for the towel to dry himself off.
"Wonder how long it's gonna take Arf to splice into the network," Jaune thought as he exited the refresher and was taken aback by Arf beeping that he had managed to find a signal similar to the holonet, but limited to only planetwide communication and was coming from various points of the world.
"Huh that was fast," he commented.
Splicing into a network usually took hours, sometimes days, to break through the many encryptions, firewalls, and other protective software until the splicer got what they needed. And judging from how easily Arf got into their system with no problem it was a safe bet that the security implemented was as secure as the people thought...but then again the planet was semi-advanced from what he gathered from the children and relied on a single source for power, so perhaps comparing them to the security systems that were used by galactic governments, and corporations wasn't a really fair comparison.
Arf projected a holomap of the planet with four red dots indicating where the signals were coming from.
"Good work buddy. Try to find cities with missing children matching who we have alright?" Arf beeped again in confirmation and began searching through their network.
Five green dots appeared on the holographic globe indicating where each city was located. The closest one appeared to be in the desert region. Another city was located on a barren island continent off the coast of another more lush region with a green dot in an area that was covered in snow due to its proximity to a polar province where another green dot was located. Finally, the last city was located dead center in a section of verdant green forests and grasslands that was connected to the desert region.
A series of words accompanied each dot written most likely in the language of the planet rather than the Aubesh language that was known galaxy-wide. Nonetheless, Jaune attempted to read the language seeing that there were some similarities to languages long past, but try as he might he was unable to properly read a word of the planet's language.
"Blast, I can't read this," he mumbled as he tried reading the name of the city in the abundant forest region but was unable to which is something he thought was strange considering the children spoke perfect Galactic Basic, but then he recalled how they were unable to rid the words written on the holonet when he was showing them different planets and when they went shopping for clothing.
"Can either of you guys read this?"
Oum took one look at the language before shaking his head, while Arf let out a low whistle indicating that he too didn't know.
"Must be some ancient form of Galactic Basic that made its way out here," Jaune theorized, as he looked at the lettering hoping to find some sort of pattern, "Maybe the kids could help out. Speaking of which I should see if they have everything."
As soon as the words left his mouth the door behind Jaune opened and Iris entered the cockpit.
"Um sorry to bother you Captain Jaune but me and the others wanted to know when we would be leaving," asked the blonde girl.
"Ah, Iris perfect timing. I need your help to translate the names of these cities on your planet. Think you could help?" Jaune asked as she took a look at the projection and the planet
"You don't know them?" she asked innocently.
"I don't know every language in the universe. This is one of them."
Iris had a confused look on her face.
"But we can understand you."
"That's what I'm trying to figure out too."
Iris hummed as if she too was trying to figure out the language barrier between them, before eventually giving up on the idea and taking a look at the map.
"I could go get the others to come help if you want," she said.
"Sure thing."
"Alright give me a minute to get them," and with that Iris left the cockpit, returning moments later with everyone else squeezing into the cockpit.
"Okay guys Iris probably already told you but I need your help translating your language. Mind giving me a hand?" Jaune asked as the kids swarmed around him each one telling him the names of each continent, the kingdoms that make them, and the cities each one of them came from.
After the explanation Jaune was able to understand. The continent Sanus was made up of two kingdoms; the desert Kingdom of Vacuo where Jeremiah lived in the city Coquina, and the lush Kingdom of Vale where Iris lived in the town of Domaine. The island tropical desert continent was called Menagerie where Ebon resided in the capital of Kuo Kuana. Selene's city, Argus was located in the northernmost part of the continent Anima where the Kingdom of Mistral was located. Finally, the last one was the cold continent called Solitas, where dwelled the Kingdom of Atlas and the city of Mantle where Oliver lived. This was a bit more difficult than Jaune first anticipated since the Kingdom's all had cities named after themselves as their capital causing a bit of confusion between him and the kids.
Curiously, the kids never once mentioned the black continent at all and when Jaune asked them about it all he got in return is that they also didn't know the name of the region or that it even existed which he found unnerving.
"The people must not have discovered the planet yet for some reason. Maybe dangerous animals and harsh weather conditions out there," Jaune mused though he felt he already knew the answer.
Regardless he still had a mission to carry out and he would be damned if he turned back.
"Alright, guys," Jaune said, taking his seat at the controls, "Our first stop is the City of Vacuo."

"W-W-What do you mean you are in charge of my ship!?" Grakkus stuttered as the Devaronian Inquisitor gave a fanged grin before repeating what he just said.
"Lord Vader has placed me in charge of this vessel as we continue hunting the Jedi on this new world,"
Both men were on the bridge of the starship, waiting for Fero to join them on the command deck so he could give them the coordinates to the mysterious planet apparently called Remnant.
"But-But I have been tasked with defending this sector by the Emperor!? I cannot leave this planet unguarded!? It is vital to the Empire!"
13th Brother merely rolled his eyes before deciding to end the conversation, finding Grakkus's prattling about his authority tiresome.
"This is an order given by the Emperor himself. You are and the coming exploration fleet will obey my commands and we will explore this planet for the Empire," he stated bluntly, getting close to the admiral, "If you refuse a direct order from me I will consider it insubordination and the consequences will be dire." he warned glaring harshly into Grakkus's brown eyes with fierce yellow ones behind his red visor
Grakkus stepped away terrified of the implications and the lack of personal space the Inquisitor gave him.
"W-Well if it's an order from the Emperor then I shall carry out his orders with absolute," weakly replied, clearly intimidated by the devilish-looking being, who smirked in return at having brought Grakkus in line.
"Then there should be no issues."
The sound of opening doors attracted their attention as both the 11th Brother and 12th Sister entered the command deck with Fero in tow, who now wore dark grey military fatigues and had a displeased look on his face.
"Ah, Fero D'Nar I'm glad that you could join us," the 13th Brother said as he approached the Zygerrian holding a datapad in his hands, "Your family was well-known for its slavery efforts during the time of the Zygerrian slave empire and for your brother's actions during the Clone Wars when he helped take a colony of Torgrutans captive and sold them into slavery. You on the other hand...are not as successful as he was."
Fero's displeased face morphed into a scowl as the 13th Brother continued.
"You were never popular among the nobles of your planet stunting your connections between the other families and so resorted to selling slaves through underground markets and other criminal activities to make a name for yourself. Activities which include stealing military-grade weapons and ordnance from the Empire, spice and weapon smuggling, embezzlement, and so much more," 13th Brother listed, turning to face him as a cruel smile formed on his lips.
"By the looks of it, you despise the Empire's presence on your planet,"
"Who wouldn't," Fero growled, "The Empire has restricted my planet's trading and has made it so you are the only ones that profit! You're no better than the Republic!"
"How dare you insult the Empire in such a manner! " Grakkus snapped at the magenta-colored Zygerrian, who narrowed his eyes in return.
"Grakkus, stand down," ordered the Devoranian Inquisitor.
Grakkus let out a grunt of begrudged acknowledgment before falling silent once more, glaring at both the Inquisitors and the Zygerrian they were now working with.
"By all means, you should be rotting away in an Imperial prison by now," the 13th Brother continued, "But it seems your connections ran deeper than I originally thought. Now here you stand before us a wanted criminal. But I will give you a deal you cannot refuse...give us the coordinates of the planet you have found during your "business trips" and you will be absolved of your crimes and given a fresh start. Surely that must sound better than imprisonment."
Fero glared at him knowing that without a shadow of a doubt the man was lying and by the end of the trip he would be a corpse buried in an unmarked grave or floating away in the frigid depths of space.
"Very well I shall assist you," he grunted out and walked toward the table, "I have memorized the coordinates to the planet long ago, but if we were to jump right into it we would all die."
"Oh, and why is that?" the 12th Sister asked.
"There is a nebula blocking the path," Fero explained, "If go right into it we could get torn apart by the gravity,"
The Inquisitors silently shared looks with each other.
"If this planet is difficult to travel to as you claim it is, then how was it discovered?" the 12th Sister asked with an inquisitive look behind her visor.
"During the end of the Zygerrian Slave Empire, my ancestors went on expeditions in the Unknown Regions of Wild Space, hoping to find more planets that could benefit us," Fero revealed pulling up a chart of both regions of space that were close to his planet, "After a miscalculation they found themselves traveling through a strange nebula that hid the world we are headed to."
"And what is the name of this mysterious planet?" Grakkus demanded.
Fero scowled at him before answering
"The locals call it Remnant, and it is a strange and deadly world."
"What kind of name is Remnant?" Grakkus scoffed.
"What kind of name is Grakkus?" countered Fero, who appeared to be reaching his breaking point with the admiral, "Grakkus is a common name among the Hutts. No self-respecting being would ever name their child after the Hutts."
Grakkus's face went red with rage at the insult. But before he had the chance to shout back at the slaver the 13th Brother intervened.
"Admiral, perhaps it would be best if you leave us be and go check when our allies will arrive."
Grakkus gave both the Inquisitor and the smirking Zygerrian murderous glares before leaving to carry out the order.
I have never been so humiliated in my entire career," Grakkus grumbled to himself as the doors separated the room they were in with the rest of the command deck. He had lost the Jedi suspect, he was forced to deal with unsavory individuals such as Vader, the Inquisitors, and now Fero who just recently disrespected his family name. By the looks of it, things couldn't get much worse for him aside from him getting court-martialed and sent back to his family as a disgrace.
His eyes settled onto his Lieutenant Officer Ratcliffe who was performing his duties as he tapped away on a datapad, as he remembered who was the one responsible for this embarrassing moment.
He sent another glare at his back before approaching him.
"Ratcliffe," the officer turned to see who had called him, "Have you received word on when the rest of the expedition force will arrive?"
"Yes sir, I have just now. We are being joined by three Arquitens-class light cruisers known as the Torrent commanded by Commander Cerulean, the Phantom led by Commander Alabaster, and the Rancor's Claw led by Commander Oxblood. All are scheduled to arrive in about a week once they have received the supplies needed for the journey."
Grakkus frowned as he heard the information. By the time they would have arrived the Jedi would be long gone by then.
"I see...Good work Lieutenant, you've proven yourself useful for once." Grakkus mumbled the last part, even though Ratcliffe still heard it, as evident by his face tightening up in response, "Just remember you are responsible for our excursion into the Unknown Regions, so the blame lies squarely on your shoulders if something devastating were to happen," he warned before turning away to perform his other duties in preparation for the coming trip leaving an anxious and angry Ratcliffe behind to simmer in his own emotions.

(Shining Arch-Remnantian Space)
The flight toward Vacuo was filled with the jittery excitement of each child with Jeremiah being the most joyful of the five since his city was the first being visited meaning he would be the first to be reunited with his family.
Jaune gently broke through the atmosphere as the children struggled to get a look at the desert landscape.
True to Jeremiah's word the Kingdom of Vacuo seemed to be nothing but searing sand that stretched for miles, and blistering heat as the sun beat down on the loose soil making up the land with him spotting an oasis every now and then.
"Jeremiah wasn't kidding. This place feels like Tatooine. Just without the second sun," Jaune thought as he recalled the harsh desert planet that orbited twin suns when he once delivered a shipment to Jabba the Hutt when he was still under the employ of Sangria. Upon exiting his palace he immediately went to shower, feeling contaminated by the scum he was surrounded with and with what he felt emanating from the rooms like a rotten stench of a Krayt Dragon. From the greed, anger, lust he sensed, and general lack of hygiene, Jaune was surprised he didn't throw up the moment he stepped foot into the palace chambers or faint for that matter. Something he chalked up to his Jedi training and the experience he got from the Clone Wars helping him get through the grotesque smell and feelings.
After a few more minutes of seeing nothing but sand and rocks the radar began to detect signs of life a few klicks north which would take a few more minutes. Soon a few small dots began to appear on the radar, indicating that a city or village was close by.
Sure enough, a large wall of stone came into view.
"This must be Vacuo City…definitely looks like something you'd see on Tatooine alright," Jaune thought as he saw various types of buildings that were either pitched tents or made of stone and metal.
While he could just land directly inside the city and drop Jeremiah off, it would probably be best to bring him into the city on the speeder bike so as to not attract any unwanted attention.
"Hey Jeremiah," he said, catching the brown-haired boy's attention, "We're gonna land outside the city to not make anyone suspicious of us alright."
"Okay," the boy returned, still feeling giddy over the idea of seeing his family again.
Spying a flat rock plateau a few miles away from the village, Jaune carefully descended upon it as the landing gear extended and made contact with the rock.
"Alright we are officially on Remnant," Jaune declared as a chorus of cheers sounded throughout the cockpit and couldn't help but smile. He stood up from his chair as he led the children out of the cockpit and back into the lounge room.
"Jeremiah, go get your things. I'm gonna get changed and get the speed bike ready," Jaune informed Jeremiah who nodded his head and ran to retrieve the things he picked up from the detour to Cantonica.
Jaune turned to the others.
"Oum, Arf watch over the kids while I'm gone. This shouldn't take long, but if anything happens take off come find me."
"Understood, sir," Oum replied as Arf also let out beeps of acknowledgment.
He entered back into his room as he exchanged his white and yellow jacket for a set of dark brown light robes with a small shawl to cover the bottom of his face.
After he was finished changing he opened the room as he entered the storage room where a small slim aerodynamic BARC speeder bike, that like the others he salvaged from the remains of the Battle of Felucia during one of his return trips. He had found the bike halfway buried under some wreckage from a destroyed All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer and it was still in proper working condition. It even had a sidecar with a small turret attached to it to allow a second person to ride along and provide extra fire. Jaune couldn't decide whether to keep it in case he found others to trust and wanted to join him on a mission or sell it to some junk trader for some extra credits, especially since it was also in good condition.
Jaune carefully led both the bike and sidecar out of the storage room, taking a brief moment to retrieve his lightsaber and two pairs of goggles, and deployed the landing ramp as the warm humid air of the Vacuaon desert filled his lungs. As he stepped out onto the flat rock he immediately felt the heat from the sun instantly begin beating down on him.
"Whew out here for a second and I'm already getting sweaty...at least it isn't Tatooine," he thought recalling the horrid heat the planet with twin suns had been.
But he wasn't worried about the heat. Jaune was more worried about the large presence of the light side of the Force within the walls of the city.
"Could there be Jedi here?" he asked himself as he wished to know why there were so many Force signatures coming from the city. But the most troubling thing is that he felt the air tingle with dark side energy far in the desert.
"What's out there?" he thought, as the monsters from his dreams came to mind, but he was shaken from his thoughts when he heard the sound of feet running on metal as Jeremiah came out with his stuff and a shining grin on his face.
"Ready to go?" Jaune asked with the shawl muffling his voice a bit.
"Yes sir," Jeremiah nodded vigorously.
"Alright then come here so I can adjust the goggles," Jaune said as he tightened the goggles to Jeremiah's face so they wouldn't fall off.
After that was done Jaune lifted Jeremiah up and set him down in the sidecar making sure his items were put into the small space that was under his seat.
Jaune got onto the bike making sure his goggles were well-adjusted to his face, before sending a look Jeremiah's way.
"Ready?"
"Ready!"
"Then keep your hands on the handles and don't touch the large cannon in front of you," he warned.
Jeremiah nodded in return.
With that out of the way, Jaune grasped the controls as the speeder began to hum loudly. He pushed the controls forward and with woosh they began to zoom across the arid desert landscape at high speeds, kicking up a large trail of dust behind them as they raced to the town, expertly avoiding any large rock formations, cacti, and animals that made their home in the sand.
Using a speeder was something that Jedi were taught at a young age not just because it was a popular mode of transportation, but because it also helped improve a younglings ability to sense danger that couldn't be seen by the naked eye, so they could be avoided. And with all sorts of tricks and tactics being used in the Clone Wars from landmines to ambushes, it was clear why it was useful.
Jaune enjoyed the rush that came with driving a speeder. It made him feel like a podracer trying to win a race and avoid the other competitors as they tried to stop him and Jaune was no stranger to speeder races, especially against the Separatist droids that were programmed to use them.
It also seemed that he wasn't the only one that was enjoying the ride as Jeremiah laughed and cheered all the way there.
"Wooooaaaahhhhh! Thhhiiiiiisssss iiiissss ssssooooo coooooooollll!" he shouted with a large grin plastered on his face as the wind rushed past them.
"Glad to see you're having fun," Jaune yelled as he pushed down on the controls causing the speeder to boost as they glided over the desert dunes.
The walls of the town came closer and closer to them as Jaune eased up on the controls, bringing the speeder to a slower pace as they began to reach the city gates.
Once they approached the gate of the city two guards holding what looked like primitive-looking rifles stepped forward. As they looked at him with intrigue, examining Jaune, Jeremiah, and the floating vehicle in front of them.
"Hold it right there," one of the guards said in a gruff voice as he approached, "Who are you, and why are you here?"
Jaune pulled down the shawl to speak clearly.
"Names Jaune. I'm here looking for this kid's family," Jaune revealed, gesturing to Jeremiah who meekly waved.
"Whaddaya mean by looking for his family?" the second guard asked skeptically.
"The kid was abducted and taken far away by some people trying to sell him into slavery."
Both men looked shocked at the news before returning to a neutral look.
"You a Huntsman?"
"Nope," Jaune answered honestly, "Just a guy trying to make his way in the world by doing the right thing."
Both guards gave each other looks as if telepathically talking to each other about whether he was telling the truth or not before stepping aside.
"Fine you can go in but don't cause any trouble or you're dead, ya hear?"
"Loud and clear," Jaune responded.
The gates doors slowly creaked open as Jaune slowly piloted the speeder through the entrance, careful not to leave the guards coughing in the dust.
"Wish I had one of those. Damn Atlessians, they always get the best stuff," the first guard grumbled jealously as he watched Jaune go into the city.
"Ehh you probably would't've had it very long. Ya can't have anything nice like that in Vacuo." the second guard said as he pulled out his binoculars and scanned the desert horizon with his binoculars with the dusk slowly setting in casting a clash of light and dark across the deserts of Vacuo.
He stopped when he spotted a large dust storm making its way toward the city.
"Get the academy on the line!" he ordered the other guard who immediately took out his device to do as he said, "We got a large pack coming our way!"
The city of Vacuo on the inside looked a lot more organized than how it appeared on the outside. The city itself felt like a labyrinth of stone alleyways, marketplaces, and other buildings that hid people with less than respectable records.
Jaune could tell immediately that the city thrived on the philosophy of survival of the fittest, just like other desert and jungle planets that were filled with predators and other elements that could kill a person in days.
Overall Jaune thought it would make a perfect place to lay low, but as he drove through the city streets he caught the stares of the many people who went about their own business, meaning he would still stick out.
"Guess they aren't used to seeing repulsorlift technology," Jaune thought, seeing that the vehicles being used were still using wheels to get around the city.
"Hey Jeremiah," Jaune called.
"Yeah?"
"Where's the nearest police station so I can drop you off?"
"Probably Shade Academy," The boy responded, confusing Jaune.
"Why an academy?"
"It's a Huntsman academy. Huntsmen are one of the few people that protect the city from bad guys. My dad works there as a teacher," Jeremiah explained.
"Oh...okay then," Jaune said unsurely, "Where is it?"
"It's the large building over there," Jeremiah said pointing at a large building in the distance that appeared to have a step pyramid design separated into three tiers with elements that made it appear like a desert castle which became clearer the closer and closer they got to it. But there was something there that Jaune
After a few minutes of asking strangers for directions, Jaune was finally at the gate of the academy's outer wall as a few guards came to greet them like before, one of which was a deep-tanned woman with sandy brown hair that was styled into a braid long enough to reach her ankles, and had a rather short stature.
"Hello ma'am," Jaune greeted, "I'm looking for a Professor Oak. Any chance he's here?"
The woman held a neutral expression on her face.
"I apologize, but Prof. Oak has taken some time off due to familial distress. I'm Prof. Rumpole, is there anything I can help you with?" the woman asked, eyeing both of them with interest.
Jaune nodded.
"I've found his son." Jaune simply stated, causing the professor to go wide-eyed.
"Y-You what?" she said, caught off guard by the declaration as she saw Jeremiah strapped in the sidecar with a look of shyness on his face.
The professor recollected herself as she gave him a look.
"Please follow me," Rumpole requested.
Before anything else could be said an alarm rang throughout the city.
"Alert! Alert Grimm detected outside the city! This is not a drill! I repeat this is not a drill!" an alarm rang out as Jaune felt the sudden rise in fear and anxiety in the civilians as they rushed for cover. But not only did he feel the fear of the civilians, he felt something more dark and sinister making its way to the city which he speculated were the "Grimm" creatures the alarm was warning about.
And they felt strong in the dark side of the Force.
"Jeremiah it's time to go, hurry and grab your things!"
The boy gave a quick nod as he quickly got everything he had on him.
"You," he pointed toward Prof. Rumpole, "make sure he gets back to his father.
"Where are we going?" she questioned, but Jaune gave no answer as he turned his bike around and sped off leaving the academy behind.
Jeremiah was safe for now at least until these attackers were dealt with and deal with them he would; just like how any Jedi would stand against the Dark Side.
With lightning speed, Jaune reached the outer walls of the city as he watched various people carrying strange weapons on the walls firing at some unknown enemy. What was intriguing about these individuals was that like the professor and the kids, they too exuded the Force in massive quantities as they fought against whatever dark forces were outside the city gates.
Seeing some stairs that some of the protectors were using, Jaune directed his bike toward them as it hovered over the steps and brought him up onto the wall as well and what he saw on the other side shocked him to his very core and felt the same emotion the citizens felt: Fear.
Fighting against the defenders of the city were creatures of various shapes and sizes with skin as black as the darkest night, ghost-white masks that had blood-red markings etched into them and hellish yellow and red eyes lit with pure malice as they charged at those who stood between them and the city's destruction.
The creatures from his nightmares were here on Remnant...
AN: And there is chapter 7. Jaune has begun to make some headway into bringing the kids back and got a first-hand look at the diversity of Remnant's societies only to be stopped by his first run-in with the Grimm.
I know you all probably wanted to see Vader chase after Jaune with the fleet but it just wouldn't be fair. He is one of the most powerful Sith Lords of his era and by sending him to Remnant right away this story would end way too early. Not to mention that Vader is too important to Sidious to just send on some planet expedition to find a Jedi when he has Inquisitors for that job for him. Heck he considers them expendable and he isn't going to send his prized apprentice on a mission to an unknown planet when he has better uses for him, so sending them in is what he would do since he considers them expendable.
Q&A:
Gamerlover41592: Yep they are, but Vader has more important things to do right now so he might not show up for a while.
memefarius: Thanks!
SentinalSlice: You'll see what I have in mind when I start exploring the Force and Aura elements of the story.
Ozilla: Sorry friend but I do plan to have Jaune go to Beacon. True there are things he could learn in libraries but schools offer a wider selection of knowledge and courses not to mention Jaune is rusty when it comes to both lightsaber combat and his Force abilities having used them sparingly or not at all. By going to Beacon he can properly prepare for the Grimm and learn how to fight people who use Dust and Semblances since those are completely new to him, though yeah he could technically beat most students it will be difficult for him since he is technically a stranger in a familiar land.
When it comes to the Force and Aura I'll explain them later on in the story. Also, Jaune technically knows almost every lightsaber style (reasoning for that will be explained later on) other than Vaapad and Juyo.
Hamilton406: Don't worry Jaune won't be telling them his past any time soon, though he will eventually just not at the very beginning when they are strangers to him and he gets to know whether they are trustworthy or not.
Tylerbmotter: Thanks for the support! Glad you liked the points of views at the end of chapter 6!
8-bit Pirate: Vader won't be going to Remnant with the others, but he may or may not make an appearance later on in the story, and don't worry the Empire will face some complications when they eventually set out for Remnant.
BrutusPrimus: Thanks!
SirWaffleton: Hope you enjoy this chapter!
Guest: You'll have to wait and see what I plan to do with the Brothers later on.
Nain Tarlow: I also can't wait to start writing Jaune's interactions with the other characters. Vader sadly won't be joining the hunt for Jaune since he's needed elsewhere (maybe that'll be important). As for the RvB reference, it was too perfect not to do.
Anonymous: That's not a tale the Jedi would tell you.
That's all for Q&A today! I hope you all have a great May the 4th, hopefully, Bad Batch lives up to its hype (which it certainly looks like it will and surpass it), and remember the Force will be with you always…
