Amelia was laid back in the bed of the ultrasound room, Dr. Carina Deluca was performing the ultrasound to see how far along she was in her pregnancy. She was alone and the room was dim, and Amelia felt like she was holding her breath. All she could do was look up at the ceiling and recite the Serenity Prayer in her head over and over. She finally got the courage to look over to Dr. Deluca to ask her if everything was looking good, but when she looked over it wasn't Carina performing the ultrasound.

"Addie?" Amelia wasn't sure what was going on, she had not talked to Addison in weeks so she for sure had not told her about her being pregnant. "What are you doing here?" Amelia asked.

No response, Addison didn't even turn to acknowledge her. There was a look of concern on her face, a look that she had seen before, a look that she would remember for the rest of her life.

"Addie?" Amelia whispered not even sure if Addison could have heard her.

Addison turns to look at Amelia and she finally speaks, "Amelia, I am so sorry."

Amelia wakes up with a gasp and throws her arms to her sides and she accidentally ends up hitting Link in the arm which caused him to wake up. He looks around trying to figure out what was happening, and he turns to Amelia and he notices that she looks a bit pale.

"Hey, are you okay?" Link asks as he turns his whole body to face her.

"I…I just, had a bad dream," Amelia says and turns to be face to face with Link. "I missed you."

Link smiles and leans in to kiss Amelia, "I missed you too."

Amelia snuggled up to Link laying her head on his chest. Hearing the steady beat of his heart helped Amelia feel a bit more at ease, she felt Link's hand in her hair, massaging her head. She was looking out through the window she was facing and just thinking about how fast life could change, how people come and go into your life, and how she knew she didn't want Link to ever be out of her life.

Link was drifting back to sleep and looked down to see Amelia staring off, "What's going on inside that brilliant brain?" Link asked.

"I was just thinking," Amelia responded.

"About?"

"Our future."

"Should I be worried?" Link, who was now very much awake, asked.

"No, I just…your important to me Link and you matter a lot to me." Amelia glances up to see Link's face, and all she could see in his eyes was love. "I'm scared."

"Of what?" Link asked, now with a concerned look on his face and holding her a bit tighter.

"Of losing you." Amelia's voice cracked as her words came out; tears starting to form in her eyes.

"Amelia." Link whispered and brought his hand up to her cheek to wiped away a tear. "You don't have to worry about losing me because I can't imagine my life without you. When I get home and see you after being away all I can think about is how lucky I am to get to come home to you, so you never have to worry about losing me."

"But we can't control everything, what if something happens to you. I have lost a lot of important men in my life, and I guess I'm just scared that history will keep repeating itself." Amelia knew that she had to tell him about Christopher especially now that she was pregnant.

"You're right, we don't know what might happen tomorrow, all I can promise you is that as long as I am breathing, I will love you and I will be here, no matter what." Link leans down and kisses Amelia, and at that moment she knew that he was telling her the truth and that no matter what he would be there for her.

Amelia pulled back and looked up to look Link in the eyes, "I have to tell you something."

"Okay"

"But I don't know how you'll react," Amelia said, feeling herself get more nervous.

"What, do you think I'm going to get angry or upset?" Link took a deep breath, he was starting to get worried. "Whatever it is, I promise we'll figure it out together."

Right when Amelia opened her mouth to say those two words that would change their lives forever someone's phone started to ring. Amelia looked over to her nightstand and saw that it was her phone, she picked it up and saw that it was Meredith so she knew she couldn't ignore her call because Meredith wouldn't call her in the middle of the night for nothing.

"Hey Mer, what's up?"

"Hey, I just got called into the hospital, and Maggie is already at the hospital so I was wondering if you could possibly come over and stay with the kids and take them to school? I know is such short notice, but I could really use your help."

"Yeah, my shift doesn't start until nine. Just give me ten minutes and I'll be on my way."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. I owe you big time."

Amelia looks over at Link who was sitting up now with his back against the headboard. "Meredith needs me to go take care of the kids and take them to school."

"I'll go with you" Link replied as he got up from bed.

"You don't have to you got in late you're tired," Amelia said, as she made her way into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

"I can come home take a nap after we drop the kids off at school, plus I want to spend some time with my girlfriend and if that means making breakfast for the kiddos then so be it." Link walked into the bathroom and started brushing his teeth.

Amelia finished getting ready while Link made coffee and all she could think about was how close she got to telling Link that she was pregnant. It had taken Amelia all her courage to finally get close to telling him and now it was all gone, and she didn't know how to get that courage back.

On the car ride to Meredith's house, Link noticed that Amelia was being quiet, which was a bit unusual for Amelia because she always liked to talk to Link about his travels, and how the team was doing. Link knew that Amelia didn't really care about baseball and that she would ask him about it because it was something he enjoyed talking about. Link gave it a couple more minutes thinking maybe she was still tired, or maybe whatever nightmare she had was still bothering her.

"Hey, you okay?" Link asked and reached out to hold Amelia's hand. "You seem a bit distracted, is it the nightmare? Do you want to talk about it?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." Amelia looked over to Link and gave him a smile. "I'm still trying to wake up completely."

"I know we already had coffee at home, but I can stop for more if you want me to." Link suggested.

"No, no, I'm okay. I'll get all jittery if I have more coffee." Amelia said and turned to look at Link and give him a smile.

Once Link and Amelia got to Meredith's, she thanked them both for watching the kids and told them that Zola had a project of the solar system on the dinner table that she needed to take with her. Once they were alone Link went to the living room to get more sleep before the kids woke up and Amelia went to the kitchen to look at what she could pack the kids for lunch.

After fifteen minutes of searching the kitchen, Amelia decided to see what Link was doing. When she walked into the living room Amelia saw Link asleep on the couch. She sat down on the opposite end of the couch and just looked at Link, and all she could think about was if their baby would have his hair, his nose, his eyes. She knew she shouldn't wonder about that because she still didn't even know if they were going to keep the baby, but she couldn't help but be curious.

Link stirred and slightly opened his eyes and saw Amelia just looking at him; he smiled at her and asked, "What are you thinking about?"

"I was wondering what our baby would look like," Amelia responded, wondering if he would get what she was trying to say without her having to say it.

Link chuckled, "Well if we ever do have kids, I hope they have my hair, I know this might sound weird but, my hair means a lot to me. If my hair was gone it meant I was sick, that I was in treatment, it meant I couldn't even get out of bed some days because of how weak I was. If I had hair, it meant I could do all the things the other kids got to do, I got to play outside, I got to watch baseball games with my dad, and my parents wouldn't fight so much." Link looked at Amelia and gave her a shrug.

"Link, I'm pregnant." Silence. The only thing either of them could do was just stare at each other, not really knowing what to say.

"Where's mommy?" The tiny voice that belonged to Ellis broke the silence, Amelia got up from the couch and went over to Ellis.

Amelia kneeled so she could be at eye level with Ellis "Mommy is at work, so Uncle Link and I are going to take you and your brother and sister to school today, is that okay?"

"Okay," Ellis said but then she started to swing back and forth a thing the child would do when she had something on her mind.

"What is it, Elle?"

"Can I wear my pink pants that have white polka dots on them?"

Amelia smiled, "Sure, any other wardrobe request?"

"Can I wear the shoes with the butterflies on the side?"

"You sure can, come on let's go up to your room to pick out the rest of your outfit and then go wake up Bailey and Zola." Amelia and Ellis went upstairs hand in hand leaving Link alone on the couch to process the news.

Maybe Link heard wrong, he was half asleep. They were careful, plus is right now even a good time to have a baby, he was away all the time and now he was starting to think of all the things that he would miss. But did Amelia want to keep the baby? Were they ready?

Link could hear more footsteps upstairs, so he got up and made his way into the kitchen. He wasn't even aware of what he was doing, but by the time the kids and Amelia made their way into the kitchen he had a stack of waffles ready for breakfast, which was exciting for the kids because it was usually cereal on the weekdays.

Breakfast went by without a hitch, and they were now in the car on their way to drop off the kids at school. Both Amelia and Link could feel the tension, they needed to talk but at the same time, they really didn't know what to say to each other. Amelia knew she had to start by telling him about Christopher so he could fully understand her hesitation about having kids, but she was terrified about talking about that part of her life because talking about it brought back all the pain, and with the pain came the craving to get high.

They were now parked in the school parking lot; they would have usually used the drop-off line but Zola was going to need help taking out her science project from the car. Link helped Zola and made sure that she was okay to carry her project in by herself, while Amelia watched Bailey and Ellis go to their teachers who were greeting their students as they made their way to the entrance.

"I'm okay to take it. Bye auntie Amelia, bye uncle Link!" Zola yelled as she ran to the school entrance where some of her friends were waiting for her, also carrying solar systems.

Link and Amelia were now alone in the car, neither one of them knowing what to say to one another. Amelia finally couldn't take it anymore and broke the silence.

"I'm going to call off work, do you have to go into the stadium today?" She asked but avoided looking at Link.

"No, I don't have to go in since we came in really late last night." Link answered, then he turned on the car and they made their way home.

Once at home they sat down on the couch on opposite ends from each other. They knew that what they decided today was going to be one of the biggest decisions of both of their lives. Amelia knew that Link needed to know everything needed to know that the fact that she was pregnant terrified her.

"I need to tell you about something that I went through when I lived in California," Amelia said, turning to look at Link.

"Okay," said Link as he moved closer to Amelia and grabbed her hand.
