Chapter seven

Once the blokes from the band read the notes, they handed them back to Harry, 'Just remember to keep it to yourself to limit the danger Neville. I would hate for anything to happen to you.'

'I will mate, don't worry. But now, show me what this band is.'

'For one, we're called Lightnings Kiss. Madeline the record producer came up with the name after seeing my scar. Let's get into the back and show you.' Harry turned, 'Did you want to know anything before we start?'

'Yeah, how did someone you're age win a wizards war?'

'I was, well, the chosen one. There was a prophecy that said either him or me would kill the other one. Our old headmaster, Dumbledore, he was a powerful wizard and the only one Voldemort was afraid of. He taught me, became my mentor so I could learn what I needed. It all started for me when I was one. He heard the first part of the prophecy, about me being born and could vanquish him. So he came to my home, killed my father, then my mother refused to move aside, so he killed her, because of my mother it gave me a protection. When he tried to kill me, he vanished, I survived and got this scar on my head. I can tell you more later, we really need to rehearse.'

'Fair enough because you have made us curious, but we do need to work on some more songs,' Mark said and they all went out into the back room and to their instruments.

'Do you like rock music Neville?'

'Yeah, love it, so show me what you blokes can do,' Neville chuckled and sat down to watch the band and Harry. When they started playing, Neville couldn't stop smiling, then when Harry started to sing, he's mouth fell open in shock, making Hector laugh. 'You never told me you could sing Harry, why was that?'

'Well think about it Neville, since we all met, it's all been about Voldemort and trying to stay alive. I was talking to Ron and Hermione and even us three don't really know each other properly and we're best friends. I know Hermione is the smartest witch around, loves to read, wants to free house eleves, loves Ron and always worries about me, but that's about it. Ron, well he loves eating, quidditch, is protective of his little sister and has a bit of a temper when he thinks I've gone behind his back. You, okay, you love herbology, I know about you're parents and what happen. I met your gran and you had a toad called Trevor. You used to let everyone push you around. You weren't good at defence against the dark arts, until our fifth year and you hated Bellatrix, but that's about it. Tell me what you really know about me.'

'Okay, you're damn good at defence against the dark arts, will protect anyone you care about. You stopped the Slytherin's picking on me. You had an owl, Hedwig. Dobby loved you, you love to fly and playing quidditch. You're parents died, you lived with those muggles. Voldemort always wanted to kill you because of that prophecy. You had a godfather that everyone believed was a murderer and can get any professor to do anything you want. They all just seemed to love you, especially Hagrid, oh and you're not afraid of anything.'

'Believe me, I've been afraid a few times and not all the professors would do what I want. McGonagall just believed in me because Dumbledore told her to trust me, same with Kingsley. He hated the fact I was keeping things from him, but again Dumbledore told him to trust me. yeah, I love quidditch and Sirius, well I never got enough time with him, I never even got to ask him things about my parents. You know I don't know anything about them, just a few basic things.'

'Like what?'

'Well dad was like me, played quidditch, ended up captain of the team, like I did. Mum was prefect, good at charms and potions, hated my dad for years that was mainly because dad kept hexing Snape and mum was friends with him. What else, they got together in seventh year, I don't even know when they got married, all I know about that was Sirius was best man, my grandparents were there and it was a small quiet ceremony as it was right in the middle of the first war. I don't even know how long they were married before they had me, or even if they planned to have me. I could have been a mistake for all I know. I know Dad and Sirius got a lot of detentions, how my dad ended up head boy is beyond me, I never did ask Dumbledore why he made dad head boy. Mum I get, she was a prefect and a good student. Dad was a prankster and loved to hex people that annoyed him.'

'Is that all you really know about you're parents?'

'Yeah, apart from me looking like dad and have mum's eyes, that's it. See, all of us might be friends, but we never started a normal friendship because of Voldemort. Then add the fact I never knew who wanted to be my friend for me or because of who I am. I know you, Ron, Hermione, Dean, Luna, all the DA liked me for me, not the chosen one.'

'The DA, that was that rebel group you taught, wasn't it Harry, DA, short for Dumbledore's army?' Hector asked.

'Yeah, it stood for defence association, we just said Dumbledore's army for fun in case Fudge found out. It was Hermione's idea. Umbridge, bitch, she refused to teach us defence, so I taught twenty four students.'

'Some was as young as twelve, right up to seventeen. I was hopeless at everything, couldn't even disarm someone. But Harry's a great teacher, he was able to teach us things most of us were too young for.'

'Like patronus's, I noticed a lot of them that night.'

'Yeah, Remus Lupin taught me when I was thirteen because I have problems with dementors, but look at this,' Harry waved his wand and Prongs leapt forward, 'Another thing I do know about my parents, but notice it's a stag.'

'Yeah, I heard you're patronus was a stag.'

'My dad was an unregistered animagus, he turned into a stag, Remus told me. Sirius was a large black dog. Dad's nickname was Prongs, I call my patronus Prongs. My mother's patronus was a doe, to match dad's, but Snape's patronus was a doe because he loved my mother. Tonks patronus changed into a wolf after she fell in love with Remus. Do you know I'm godfather to their son, Teddy?'

'No, I didn't, He's with Tonks's mother now, isn't he?'

'Yeah, man I wished they both didn't turn up that night. Remus, fair enough I get that, he wanted to help me as I was the son of his best friend. Tonks just had a baby, I know she was an auror, but she should have stayed home with her son.'

'She knew her duty Harry, an auror knows that, we're taught to put the safety of our world first and think of this. Remus was a werewolf, the death eaters knew this, they knew they had a kid. If Voldemort won, Teddy would have been in danger and would hunt him down. Tonks, like you're mother Harry, would do anything to protect her son.'

'Yeah, still, now he has to grow up with no parents. At least he doesn't have to live with abusive muggles, he does have a witch grandmother.'

'Um Harry, you said giant, Hector said werewolf, so all that's real?' Liam asked.

'Yeah, along with dragon's and heaps of what you think are mythical creatures. You've heard of a phoenix, haven't you?'

'Some sort of bird that lives forever,' John said.

'Sort of, they burst into flames and are reborn from the ashes. I saw Dumbledore's phoenix do that once. He actually saved my life when I was twelve, their tears have healing powers.'

'How did you get Dumbledore's phoenix to come to you and use his tears? They don't just use them unless they believe there is real need?' Hector said.

'When I was in the chamber of secret's, I was there to save Ginny. Voldemort as a teenager, called the basilisk, I got the sword of Gryffindor out of the hat, like Neville did. But Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix gave that to me. I fought the snake, shoved the sword through it's head, but it pierced my arm, I felt the poison killing me. As I sat next to Ginny, who was dying, Fawkes flew down and dropped his tears into my arm. Before all that, Voldemort was saying he was the greatest wizard in the world, I yelled at him that Dumbledore was. That pissed him off but it showed great loyalty to Dumbledore which called Fawkes to me.'

'Okay, makes sense, so how did you get rid of the memory of a young Voldemort?'

'As I was sitting next to Ginny, trying to work out how to save her, I was still holding the fang I pulled out of my arm. He was saying a lot of things, called my mother a mudblood. So, for whatever reason, I stabbed his diary with the fang and it basically killed his memory, that's when Ginny woke up. Oh, the diary, was a horcrux, basilisk venom can destroy them. That's why Neville was able to kill the snake, because I'd stabbed the basilisk with that sword.'

'Are you telling me the snake was one of those and if I didn't kill it, Voldemort would still be here?'

'Yeah, sorry Neville, I never got a chance to tell you. I meant to after, but so much was going on, then I had all those funeral's to go to, fifty seven of them.'

'You went because you felt guilty, didn't you Harry? It wasn't you're fault you know, none of it.'

'I do know that, but my heart doesn't. If it was up to me, it would have been just me and him, not everyone else.'

'Yes, but he didn't work like that Harry, he didn't care about anyone's life but his own, he was determined to kill you and would use anything he could to achieve that. You had no control over that, all the people that turned up, they knew this fight was coming, we just didn't know when.'

'Yeah, I know Hector, Mr. Weasley told me that, I can't help feeling guilty though. A lot of people turned up because they knew I was there and wanted to help. Colin Creevey, he snuck back during all the chaos. He wasn't old enough to go up against death eaters, he did it because he had a fixation on me. He followed me around all the time, taking my picture.'

'I know he shouldn't have turned up Harry, but he was the same age as you, older actually when you first went up against Voldemort in the graveyard. He was a muggleborn, if Voldemort won, he knew he and his family would die. So will you stop beating yourself up over all this, or I might tell Ginny and Luna on you. You should see when those two get together. Luna might be quiet compared to Ginny, but she has got a temper under all that blond hair. You know I kissed her after the fighting and she almost took me right there in the middle of the great hall,' Neville laughed.

'So you and luna, well expect a lot of weirdness. But she seems like the type with no inhibitions. We need to get back to rehearsals, so you going to hang around for a while, then you can join us for lunch.'

'I'll be here, so get back to work Harry, because I'm enjoying this mate.'

Harry laughed, then turned back to the band and they started working on the next song. For the next two hours, they worked out backup and all the instruments, changing things around, before they took a break for lunch. The seven men all went down to the village to the small pub to have their lunch but never stopped talking the whole time they were there.
